People don’t talk about how sexually repressed women and young women were in the 50’s. Framing the girl’s reaction with that in mind, it makes their reaction to him make sense.

    • @kekwayblaze3176

True. Plus sexuality in music had never been seen before a young Elvis burst upon the music scene. So this combination of a young attractive young man who dances suggestively for that time era and sexually oppressed women led to the beginning of a sexual revolution in America.

Elvis' earlier 1950's dress sense marks him as a true style icon. And it feels particularly relevant today - Cuban collar shirts, wide-legged, pleated trousers, blousons - these are all garments making the rounds on the menswear circuit, but they were also integral to Elvis’ 1950s style wardrobe. He did it all first.

I'm 60. I went into the Elvis 2022 movie a forever Elvis fan and tentative. I been dissapointed so many times before because no movie ever brought the electricity & excitement that Elvis generated. I felt Baz was capable but I never imagined!!!! Like I said this Elvis girl went in a forever Elvis fan. . . . I left still a forever Elvis fan and a forever fan of Austin Butler & Baz Lurman.

I now exactly what you mean this movie has become a problem for me too, I have seen it 7 times and whenever Austin is on the screen it gives me the chills. The costumes, the editing everything about this movie is unbelievable.
Whether he is in the black leather , white jumpsuit or anything else WOW it works for me.
Baz is a genius and together with Austin they have made a masterpiece.
    Love your reactions.

when "Elvis" goes back in to talk to his daddy and finds out about the bill to Colonel, then he gets mad, and walks out, he walks differently. like an older heavier man. Austin was so successful at every stage of Elvis life.

I love how you are getting excited about Elvis
Not bad for a guy that has been dead for 45 years
    Elvis has still got it
Elvis is the king and will always be the King.
    I love your reaction ❤️
    I have subscribed to you
With Elvis you can't get wrong.
Austin Butler poured his heart and soul into this movie.
I think Austin is amazing and I hope he gets an Oscar
Thank you Austin for bringing Elvis back to life

It's interesting how Baz chose to use what is clearly a modern blazing guitar track on this portion of the film. I'm sure he did it specifically to stylistically enhance the excitement level of the scene because the original sound track would not be nearly as powerful to the sensitivities of today's viewers (especially anyone under the age of, say, 30) as it was to those in the audience back then. Even the original sound of the music from this performance back then was, without a shred of doubt, as powerful to them, from their perspective, as that screaming guitar track is to listeners today. The power (if that's even the right word in this context) came from the fact that, for the most part, it was something they'd never heard before and for sure had never seen performed in such an unbridled physical manner. Not that it hadn't been done before. It was done all the time by Black musicians in Black "juke joints" but to the White people (especially the younger ones) in the heavily racially segregated South, this was like nothing they'd ever seen or heard before. I think Baz had at least two main goals for this film: Entertain the viewers and educate them at the same time.

When I saw that in the clip I was so confused!! That scene in the movie was not like that at all, I've seen the movie twice. I guess they just used that "blazing guitar" in this trailer? Most of these trailers condense the scenes, even change some dialogue, change the music, change a lot tbh. In the movie, the music sounds as it would've sounded then. There are no "blazing guitars."

Arguably the most perfectly created human being was also the most humble human being. He always considered himself just a regular guy. He never understood the effect he had on women. He always doubted he could sell out a show. He was convinced no one would remember him. In many ways, he was insecure. He was the most protected human being, who didn't want to be protected - but it was what it was and he understood that. Sadly, he couldn't be protected from himself. He lost his twin brother at birth. He lost his only connection to life when his mother died. His manager drove him to the ground. His life was planned for him, without his input. He lived inside a bubble. He was a prisoner trapped inside himself. Even the most expensive and beautiful candle will eventually burn out - his did. Every once in awhile, someone comes into the world who's only reason for existence is to change the world. And when that is accomplished, they leave the world.

In a few of the scenes where the girls are losing their heads, you see some guys who are...inwardly questioning their sexuality...or there's at least one instance of this in the movie. It's kinda funny. I'm sure it must've happened.

That look you’re living for is actually Elvis’ style. All his own. Pink and black were his favorite colors. This scene is an actually what happened in real life. So, just a little nugget for you. I was lucky enough to grow up knowing who Elvis really was. Not the gimmick he’s been made out to be. I only hate that I was too young(born in 1975) to ever see him live. I have seen many “look alike” wannabes in other films. Austin is FABULOUS!

Elvis dared to sing and move like the African American people who inspired him as a young boy at the gospel churches as seen in this movie. Credit to elvis Presley for standing against the racist bigots in the south back then that's why he gets credit in my eyes not just because he had unique sound and movement that was never seen before. But he stood up for the people he loved and adored too much respect for that.

Romeo and Juliet really put me off when I saw it many years ago, but I saw it recently and I guess my tastes had changed or my expectations changed, but I enjoyed it. Really specific style. Mouling Rouge and this are def on my watchlist.
