I am about 60 hours into the game and am really enjoying it. It took a bit to get used to the systems. If you like story rich games, turn-based combat, RPGs, loot and crafting, this may be a game for you. The story is good, the combat is interesting (buffs, debuffs, stuns, different types of damage and magic). The skill trees are simpler but I love being able to manage my stats through my gear. My wizard has a 40% crit chance. Lots of fun!
That's why I can't stand Larian games. Everything is so slow, and you can't state it because of the angry fanboy mobs. "Uh then play CoD kid". Yeah sorry that the "kid" has a life and needs to pay for a house and car instead of slowly walking through virtual forests
Some mechanics forcing you to go back to the city are reminding me of Might&Magic X, which is rough, but had some charm. The point was to get your party to the level when it can be autonomous with all the perks, spells, ect.
town trainers are absolutely an old school might and magic design that I kindof love. I don't think they were ever perfectly implemented, but its a fun, immersive idea that I think should be revisited for sure. wow of course had trainers.. tyranny has them, but for a different mechanic. I think if I ever had the time to make my dream rpg, what I would do is have town trainers. on level up, you need to go back to them to level up. and here's the key to making them great. have target dummies, and training grounds. on level up, you can respec for free, in the training grounds. try out the new skills, or stat point placement. and only confirm the selection when you leave.
thorough and well-done introduction video. Thanks. I now have a lot of info to weigh in determining whether or not I want to purchase. I will check out your channel.
Considering CRPGs make up the bulk of your channel’s content, I’d be interested to learn what other game genres you find enjoyable. Sorry if you mentioned that in another video already.
I played the demo of this a while ago, my first thoughts were... not great, but not too terrible. I could see what they were going for and when it all comes together it's actually pretty solid, but it felt like for every good thing you got, you get one or two bad things going along with it. Balancing was one of my biggest peeves, which for a indie is not always easy to do, It just felt a bit wild in the early parts of the demo for me. I'll probably keep a watch on this, if they can shore up that awful start you mentioned, it might be worth another look!
I like the mix of genres. But I've seen too many games wear themselves thin because of it. Are you reviewing Unicorn Overlord on release? It's a tactical RPG. I've heard really good things about it.
I couldn't really get past the Intro, it felt too janky :( Didn't help that I started as a mage and everyone was attacking him and ignoring the frontline. Does it get much better after or just easier combat?
is disciples:liberation one of those games you are checking out? edit: no. weird. this was an older game that popped up on steam for me for some reason.. odd. theres a demo. seems pretty solid. a king bounty type of game.
As an aside, I don't know if you've seen the news but sadly Unfortold Witchstone is dead and ceasing development. Very unfortunate state of affairs and a promising CRPG is lost :(

Man you’re pumping these out!
I like that the characters actually move fast when they run, I am not a fan of being slow in these type of games

I actually mildly liked MMX, so that might not be a bad thing. Some games can be rough around the edges gameplay wise, but still fun to play.

Thanks for the video. It's good to know that the game opens up after the first chapter or so. Onward to 300k. All glory to the algorithm.
"Don't do necromancy!"
- recent VLDL PSA, probably. Outrageous.
It's funny. The argument for why Necromancers aren't evil. They kind of have a point.
Have had my eye on this, glad to see you covering it, gonna wait for your review just to make sure it's running smoothly.
I had this wishlisted for a while, I'll probably wait for your full review before I decide if I want it.
Same. I was excited for it but the feedback so far has been somewhat negative. Mortys review will mean a lot to me.
I am choosing between this and Crown Wars: The Black Prince for this month's purchase, so your opinion would be greatly appreciated!
The audio of the music goes down to ensure you can hear any VO in the dialogue, btw.
Yeah, of course, but it going back up in-between each sentence rather than staying down while you're in dialogue is what I was talking about.
I’m a kickstarter backer . It will likely join a long list of my never played Kickstarter games!
Holy crap, it's so late. We're 12h past usual release time. Is this real life?

i had this game on my wishlist for a while but i was not sure if it was any good when it released. thanks for this video.
I'm curious how it'll play out in the end.
unicorn overlord review?
Not on pc

Mortym only plays on PC, no consoles, and sadly Vanillaware (UO developers) do not port their games to PC.
That sucks. I thought it would be on GamePass. My bad. I guess I won't be playing it either.@@_george84

@@emceeunderdogrising Sadly no, unfortunately no luck for us PC gamers :(
free comment & happy friday.
Those avatars look like something straight out of World of Warcraft character creator.
Love the Reviews. Could you take a look at Unicorn Overlord?✌️

I was waiting for reviews before buying this game.

Classified France '44 and The Thaumaturge. Heard of disciples, never got around to reviewing it
Looks decent, you going to follow this one more?
I'm going to review it yeah
Honest as always which is why i watch your videos
That loading map made in Inkarnate was a bit jarring
The game is ok , above average!
Gronk!
How come you uploaded out of schedule
Just a ton of stuff releasing all at once, and this was easier than the alternatives
Nice more content for us. Keep it up with the good work@@MortismalGaming
If the beginning is worse than the Peragus asteroid in KOTOR 2 then I'm out :)
The sundered armor mechanic sounds great.
If it wasn't on top of the durability I wouldnt mind it, but it really seems like it should be an either or type of thing

Yeah I made a post about it, and pinned a comment on the video for it
Woah!?!?! Late post!
Diablo loot system in a TURN BASED game? No thanks.
Slow down brother....it's a marathon not a sprint..
This isn't me sprinting, just a busy month. It was this or wait to drop it on Monday.
I was here first
Thank you , I worked really hard
