  • This is a review and test of the new Safe Life Defense Hyperline level 3A soft armor vest. The panels in this vest are ultra lightweight and are only .19" thick. The results are incredible.

    That slug would definitely have collapsed lungs and most likely stopped heart.

      It would have to be a perfect hit over the heart and most likely wouldn’t stop it cause sternum. Also there’s tests with ballistics dummies and it just breaks some ribs. Nothing lethal.

      I don't think #00 Buck would have any effect, but I definitely hate to be busted with that slug, that some sore if not broken ribs.
      I wonder if this type of armor would be good for kids' backpacks, especially at the college level?

      @@franksparks1126 they have a panel with this now, I got their older stuff for backpacks, adds a little weight but takes up room. This stuff would be much lighter, though still not rifle rated.

    Man I was surprised when the slugs didn’t go through it’s going to hurt like a mf . Def will break your ribs but you should live . Unless something freakish happens and you puncture your lung from breaking your ribs . But you shouldn’t get shot with a shotgun unless you’re doing something illegal

    I’ve shot a few vests with 1oz slugs. If it’s a true rated 3A, it should stop a slug.
    And Kevlar is not cut resistant, slash or stab proof. So knifes will have no issue with it. They are not made to be cut proof.

      Safelife's vests are stab-proof.

    • @PTRRanger951
      @PTRRanger951 Рік тому

      @@Cpt_JohnRackham nothing is proof. Not all their vests are stab resistant. They are also not NIJ certified. I wouldn’t trust anything just because there are videos that say they are and people doing stuff to them. Unless you buy it and do it yourself you never know for sure.
      Been a cop for 25 years, there are lighter and thinner vests out there that are NIJ certified. I have seen the SafeLife vests in person, in their own showroom in Vegas. They are still thick and heavier. They are about the same as getting a Galls brand vest from Galls. The PointBlank one I have is way lighter, and has a lot more molle on it.
      But nothing is stab proof or bullet proof. I also never said they didn’t have vests that are not stab resistant. I said KEVLAR is not cut, slash or stab proof. It’s the other materials in the vest that offer the slash and stab protection, it’s not the Kevlar.

    • @penetreytid
      @penetreytid Рік тому +4

      A slug would probably shatter your rib cage locally. Survival would be questionable, and you would almost certainly not be able to continue defending yourself (if you would even be conscious).

    • @PTRRanger951
      @PTRRanger951 Рік тому

      Depends on the range it is shot from. Getting hit with a slug at 7 feet away is very close quarters, and unlikely if your a moving target. But yeah internal damage would be great. But if at a distance and velocity is slowing, it should be survivable. Broken ribs or collapsed lung is still better than it shattering everything and taking it out your back.
      I have also had to shoot a cow in the head 3 times with a slug about 10 feet away and it didn’t do anything but small entrance holes in the skull, no exit, and it was still moving for a couple minutes after until it finally let go. I was surprised at the lack of damage for 3 rounds to the back of the head.

    I purchased this particular ballistic armor a couple of months ago with the expectation of being able to wear it for at least 8 to 12 hours or more. However I quickly found that this was NOT the case ! For me this was NOT worth the over $1,000.00 price tag. Very uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time !! It doesn't do any good if you can't wear it !!
