The final cutscene suggests that CABAL and Kane shared the exact same goal, but were unable to accomplish their task because of the alliance between Nod and GDI. As we know now, Kane had the ultimate goal to augment humanity in preparation for the Scrin attack. That's why he's using Tiberium on humans - he's trying to merge the two in order to create a new type of human life, a more resilient and powerful human life. And that's where cyborgs come into play. Nod cyborgs were created using this technique, by merging humans, technology and Tiberium (that's why when you kill a cyborg in game, it blows up and leaves Tiberium behind). In the non-canon ending you can see Kane's mission being accomplished - he launches a rocket that spreads Tiberium all over the world, changing the structure of life on Earth to incorporate Tiberium and its regeneration capabilities. If you pause for a second and think about it, knowing that the aliens are coming, and that humanity is nowhere near strong enough to deal with them, Brotherhood of Nod actually become the "good guys" in the story, since they're trying to evolve humanity according to Kane's plan, while GDI are fighting a losing battle, and even if they win, they'd all fall to the incoming alien invasion, dooming everyone in the process. To put it plainly, GDI are fighting for what they *think* is right, while Nod are fighting for the survival of the human race. Salvation requires a certain degree of sacrifice, it's basically natural selection - many will die, unable to deal with Tiberium poisoning, but those who survive, will become much, much stronger and ultimately, better, ensuring that there's a chance for humans to live through the ordeal. It's cruel, yes, but in the grand scheme of things, it's for a good cause. Now, going back to CABAL. Kane doesn't really care that much about the Brotherhood of Nod or about GDI. They're all just pawns in his game. He has to care about GDI, because they constantly try to hinder his plans, and he has to care about Nod, because they follow him, they're tools, actors in his play. He manipulates them with his speeches and promises, but to him personally, they're nothing but pawns. Thus, it's not that difficult to imagine that CABAL was acting out Kane's ultimate goal, albeit in a crude fashion. He attempted to speed up the process. Since the Tiberium missile was lost, CABAL was forced to augment humanity using the second best way he knew of - through cybernetic enhancement coupled with Tiberium augmentation. That's also the reason why he segregated humans based on their vitality and strength, killing those who were weak or incapable, it all connects with the idea of Tiberium enhancement being the next step in humanity's evolution. The strongest survives and all that. Basically, I believe that CABAL never went "insane", as both the GDI and Nod commanders attempted to rationalize. He was not trying to eliminate human race as a whole, he was not trying to conquer the world for himself or establish a machine-dominated universe. He acted according to Kane's plan while Kane himself was indisposed, though using more straightforward and radical methods sans unnecessary sugar coating. CABAL clearly knew about the Scrin, he knew about the secrets of the Tascitus long before humans even discovered the artifact, and he was already self-sufficient enough even during the Tiberian Sun campaign, and he made it clear that his goals (and thus, Kane's) did not necessarily involve the Brotherhood at large ("... information vital to my... your movement"). Anton Slavik was accomplishing tasks and running around doing errands for Kane, some more significant than others, while the truly important things were happening unbeknownst to Nod general - Kane, CABAL and Tratos were busy working on the Tascitus. THAT was important, not, let's say, taking out some random GDI base. Anyhow, those are just my thoughts on the subject of CABAL and Kane. At least, that's the way I interpret the story.
Maybe the CABAL's and Kane's intention really is the extinction of humanity in this scenario, since humans harvest tiberium and therefore slow down its spread. And Kane presumably wants the tiberium to spread, as in Nod ending of Tiberian Sun, to make the Scrin invade as they do in cnc3. And Kane wants to use the Scrin to leave and go do his space alien business as he does in the Nod end of cnc3.
Keep in mind that Westwood's CnC 3 was supposed to have CABAL's faction still controlling parts of the world but was more of a secondary faction that is an annoyance more than a danger.

Technically speaking, both of Red Alert 1's campaigns are canon. The Allied campaign is canon to the Red Alert continuity, but the Soviet campaign is canon to Tiberium.
@@ellwill5709 Not exactly. Allied campaign is the only canon in Red Alert 1. Officially, Allied campaign in Red Alert 1 is canon to both Red Alert and Tiberium continuity while the Soviet campaign is confirmed non-canon to both Red Alert and Tiberium.
@@player2-lightwater914 I actually believe in the Shrodinger's Kane theory. The story from Red Alert 1 can branch to either the Tiberium Timeline or further into the Red Alert timeline depending on if Kane exists or not. If Kane does exist in the timeline, then the Soviets win the Second World War against the Allies before the Union collapses following Stalin's death at the hand of Nod (Pun intended). If Kane doesn't exist in the timeline, the Allied forces win the Second World War, and Romanov is installed as Premier, leading directly to the events of Red Alert 2. This theory is backed by the fact that Kane does not appear in the Allied Campaign. (It might also be noteworthy that C&C Generals is presumed to take place in the same timeline that the original Einstein travelled back to kill Hitler in)
I love the fact the Kabal behaviour was predictible. In tiberium sun, at the end of the briefing of an optional mission (which you have to free a nod officier to beat Hassan), he says something like "...do it to achieve my visi... the Kane vision"
Actually all the bodies alongside Kane are beings that constitute CABAL as a whole. CABAL is actually many people minds connected together as one entity, Kane was put in one of those tube to heal from his wounds suffered at the hands of McNeil, his mind merged with CABAL's for a short time and learned many things from it, he then eventually healed and made use of an A.I he had programmed beforehand, LEGION.
combinecommando001 Cabal is actually an updated EVA with 3 humans in stasis with their minds connected to Cabal to vastly increase his intelligence and AI. Cabal has multiple personalities based on the humans his mind is connected too. Kane programmed cabal's AI using the same brainwaves as kane so they both share the same goals. when kane was healing, cabal went rouge and tried to turn all of humanity into machines. when kane woke from his sleep cabal was ordered to self destruct, Legion is a more advanced life form created with part of cabals code.
To be fair, when it comes to war FPS's. I think it's better to have the player just be there.. a cog in the machine of war, and never really do anything that big. But, this is a war RTS. And I agree with you on that.
I always theorized that CABAL was just a sort of chat room avatar thing for Kane who was secretly trying to purge his shitty insubordinate army of traitors and power mongers. Replace them with obedient mind controlled cyborgs. But knowing the possibility of failure he used the chat avatar as a fail safe to preserve his image.

In Firestorm we see a very different side to Slavic. He used to be calm and calculating in Tiberian Sun, but here we also see his enormous ego. Without the player's save-load powers it's clear Slavic could have never bested McNeil.
"Commander, we are The Black Hand of Nod, we are the salvation of Nod, CABAL betrayed not just You and I, but he betrayed The Brotherhood, he betrayed Kane, and there's only one prize for betrayal, destroy CABAL!"
I wonder- is Marcion the player character for this campaign? Being the guy who took down CABAL would give him a lot of political capital. Capital which he might have used to take down Slavik. I think the power went to his head.
It certainly takes a bit of extra planning and attention to detail to execute, but I really do appreciate it when a plotline is set up such that both the good AND bad sides of the plot can both coexist as canon. They just dont make them like they used to....
Man these were so epic to watch back when I first played this and they still are now. I personally loved the harvesting mission. I used my engineers on that mission to capture key facilities in one of CABAL's bases and turned it into my own keeping myself in the game by training more engineers and then slowly at my own pace wiping out all of the other forces under CABAL's control.
Remember in Tiberian Sun when Cabal slipped? He said something like "It will be beneficial for my... your cause". I can't remember exactly but in hindsight that was a hint that Cabal would go Skynet on everyone

General Marzaq must have been a troublesome general beforehand. Cabal knew exactly who Slavik was referring to without names given. He just said that the Brotherhood was divided and Cabal singled Marzaq out right away.
o, got it. He said ''Communications are not in optimal condition due to increased ion particle activity within the lower atmosphere''. Sci fiction man, love it!
I remember as a kid seeing 6:03 for the first time and was shocked how quickly cabal nearly destroyed nod. I thought it was cool and terrifying how easily one of nods best resources quickly became their near extinction. My brother being a gdi fan thought it was funny and thought "ha cabal betrayed you that will make it easier in gdi". Then laughed hard when cabal tricked gdi and nearly destroyed them too. 😆
LMAO!! That's gold with your brother haha, true NOD v GDI , but I totally agree once GDI slows down we take on Cabal and damn does he push our limits 😄 great times :)
no Kane constructed CABAL and when Kane died CABAL kept following his dreams. CABAL wasn't ever for NOD. he was for Kane only. plus the fact that Kane is probably a alien. why do you think that he wanted to go though that portal in C&C4?? because it lead him back to his homeland. so basically he used humanity to go back to his home lol
+Deadspace Nightmare Kane found out that humans are really religious and he made them believe in them. yes he indeed helped humanity and i think that he is right but he actually used humanity to go back to his home planet. why else do you think that Kane wanted to go into that schrin portal in C&C4?
You're accepting the worst game shit out by EA as gospel, and you're the one calling people stupid? Your insults are just as embarrassing as what Tiberian Twilight did to one of my favorite video game villains.
Tiberian twilight is like a really fucked up and has nothing to do with westwoods intended story. EA fucked up the story and twisted it. Originally the Tiberian series would have been a trilogy. And I also think that Kane is in fact a higher being, the Kane mentioned in the bible. Maybe "God" in this universe is alien as well since we know of another alien species (not the scrin) in the tiberian universe which the tacitus is based off but we never even see them in any of the games.
Charles Hulsey Actually kane is Immortal, he is the biblical Cain and has been on earth for thousands of years. he is an alien being who's species the scrin are fighting and some how made it to earth, or he was kicked out of Eden and sent to the land of nod. he manipulated humanity for thousands of years and even sparked ww1 and destroyed the world order in order to advance human technology, knowing the scrin would seek out earth one day.
If he was fighting the Scrin then why would he purposefully draw the Scrin to Earth? I highly doubt that he 100% knew humanity could take the aliens on at the time. And while I don't fully know the end of C&C4, the end scene made it look like he was an alien the whole time trying to get back to the Scrin
he needed the scrin to make the towers but he did not want the rest of them there and yea the third games ending and then the start of the 4rth game to not connect well

@@DRRDGRAPHICARTIST Kane was heavily implied to be the biblical Kane who cannot die. He survived the ion cannon blast to the face and only got half of his face burned. He also does not age and was seen in red alert which was originally planned to be the sequel to tiberium universe games. If he was a clone why would he need to use CGI images to appear normal in front of his followers while secretly having a plate on his burned face. The Kane in CABALs core is the only and real kane with the face plate on his face, there are actually female and other males in that tube but because it is so low resolution it is hard to see. The use of this term usually carries negative connotations of political purpose, conspiracy and secrecy." The misconception that they are clones is sometimes brought up.

lordaizen66 it's explained in lore that gdi discontinued all of its more "eccentric" designs favoring easy to produce weapons. And also banned/destroyed all nod weaponry and advancements. That's just EA butchering a great series
@Ben Baxter Yeah. After the events of Tiberian Sun: Firestorm, GDI decided to retired all mechanised walkers such as Titans, Wolverines, Juggernaut (Mk.1) and Mammoth Mk.2 due to expensive productions and wanted to focus more on combating Tiberium as GDI see that Nod is not threatening like before due to Kane's "death" and Slavik's assassination which led to Nod broken up into several small factions. This decision caused many opposition from GDI military leaders especially General Joshua Mitchell. He believed that there will be new enemies to replaced Nod or they may rise again in the future. After many meetings with the officials, he partially won. A new subfaction under GDI was formed with Joshua being the leader. The new subfaction is called Steel Talons, an experimental combat division of GDI. Under this faction, Titans and Wolverines as Mk.2 were brought back albeit limited deployment. Juggernaut Mk.2 aka Behemoth was brought as well but limited deployment. While Titans and Wolverines were not brought back during the Third Tiberium War, Juggernaut was the only mechanised walkers to be brought back into the main faction as Mk.3
The story ends with this game right here. I refuse to believe that Tiberium Wars and Tiberium Twilight are apart of the canon. They ruined GDI, they ruined Nod, and they ruined Kane. Thanks a lot, EA.
Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wraith were great. EA made them with concepts made by Westwood before EA took over, so it's safe to consider those Westwood-canon. Tiberian Twilight does suck though.
I agree. This is the end of the Tiberium story for me as well. Tiberian Sun (and Firestorm) had so many great things in them: strong characters, great cutscenes, great designs and the overall atmosphere. Tiberium Wars comes nowhere near this setting, somehow EVERYTHING seems less impressive in Tiberium Wars compared to Tiberian Sun. In fact, Tiberium Wars feels like it was supposed to be a continuation of Tiberian DAWN, not Tiberian SUN. Here's why: the world looks far less infected and in disarray, some places look outright normal, as if nothing is even happening. The technology is taken back at least 20 years or so, the GDI army resembles modern USA one with some higher tech stuff (just like in Tiberian Dawn), the NOD army now looks like a bunch of random terrorists, even though they had far more advanced combat armors and weapons than even GDI couldn't afford in Tiberian Sun, both sides use their old Tiberian Dawn designs in uniforms, buildings and units, etc. Even the cutscenes are made in the same style as in Tiberian Dawn. In Tiberian Sun, you basically watched a movie, and your player characters were actual characters - McNeil for GDI and Slavik for NOD. They had personalities and actually did stuff. As a result, you grew to like them and cared for what was happening. That's why stuff like Slavik and Oxanna getting captured by GDI actually worked and made me feel something as player, because I liked those two and I wanted them to succeed. In Tiberium Wars, you're once again just a camera, like in Tiberian Dawn. And 99% of the cutscenes is someone else talking into the camera that's supposed to be you. There's little to no character development, no action sequences, and everyone you meet is boring as hell. Or maybe they're not, but you don't SEE them do anything but talk. Even when something happens, it's filmed in such a manner that's utterly disappointing. This could be the result of them spending all the money on getting them big named actors. Too bad once you do that you can't really do much with them because you're broke, eh? McNeil actually walked outside and did stuff - trained, captured enemies, investigated ships, etc. Slavik actually walked outside and did stuff - interrogated prisoners, rallied troops, investigated data, etc. Oxanna walked outside and did stuff - freed Slavik, killing some guys in the process, captured Hassan's network and killed his propaganda man, coerced McNeil's brother into betraying the GDI, etc. The most important part is that you SAW all of that take place, and had little doubt that all those characters deserve the recognition they get in the story. McNeil IS a badass who walks right into danger. Slavik IS a badass general people would willingly follow. Oxanna IS a badass spy / propaganda artist who would get results, etc. And in Tiberium Wars, you get... an old GDI officer who gives you mission details. They say he's awesome, and he looks like he is, but, I mean, that's about it. All he ever does is sit in his office. NOD players get a younger officer who also gives out mission info. He looks badass and he acts like it, but he does nothing but sit in the bunker. Amazing. The only person who does stuff is you, yourself. But you don't have an in-game character, so... what's the point? Who am I supposed to care about here? Some random GDI secretary? Why? Kane or his assistant? I suppose so, but Kane is not really a main character, since he doesn't act like it and everything he does is mostly in the background. You hear about it, that's all. His assistant kinda has an arc, but she's promptly killed off before she can get interesting, and you go back to being a soulless camera. Now, sure, Firestorm was filmed like this as well. But here's an important difference: Firestorm was an expansion pack made on a shoestring budget, a nice addition to the main course, nothing more. The cutscenes were a great bonus to what could've easily been released as a simple map pack. You can't really expect much there. Tiberium Wars was supposed to be this big thing, a triumphant return of the Command and Conquer series. I'd rather have a bunch of nobodies acting out an interesting story with cool characters than a bunch of famous people standing still in front of the camera reading info from a script hanging next to them, thank you very much. Now, it's not a BAD game. It's just a weak continuation of Tiberian Sun that doesn't even connect with it as far as continuity is concerned. They did a lot of backtracking and explanation, but that was all just an afterthought, something they came up on the fly to shut fans up. "Oh, NOD no longer have their uniforms because, eh, well, they lost, and they no longer have all the resources, so they just arm random people now." Yeah, as if NOD had endless supplies in Tiberian Sun. "Oh, GDI no longer has high-tech mechs, because they're impractical." Yeah, right, sure. "Oh, remember Anton Slavik? We killed him off-screen, he wasn't that important anyway." Aha, nice one. And C&C 4 doesn't exist. It never did. Whatever came up under that name was a joke, a misunderstanding. The less said about that the better.
You said it brother. You said it all too well. You make some very persuasive points, most of which i cannot disagree with. C&C 3 felt very much like a cheap recycling of the original C&C. The kind of hollywood remakes they're doing today of 80s movies which not only insult the originals, but insult you as a viewer or a player. What really pissed me off is they tried to bring back the heavy mechs and high tech Tiberian Sun stuff with 4. I'm disgusted they dared to call it Tiberian, by that point everything that made it C&C and Tiberian had been sucked totally out of it. Hell, i remember friends dragging me online to play just the campaign with them, something i just couldn't get into because of horrible gameplay, and a piss poor script. It's unfair to even compare to Tiberian Sun, because way back then, when all i was playing was TS, it was atmospheric, gloomy, had just the right amount of grit, and was just plain addictive. I was honestly gutted when they killed off Slavik, because at the end of firestorm here is where the story truly left off, he was Kane's heir, and you follow that journey through Tiberian Sun and come to respect his risks, honour, and loyalty. Like anything good you follow that protagonist and learn with them. Just a few of my thoughts.
And I agree with all of your thoughts, especially about Slavik. Such a waste of a perfectly good character who went through an appropriate arc, like a real movie protagonist: started out from scratch, built his forces, faced hardships along the way, almost lost it all again after being betrayed, stood back up and fought back against the opposition, securing his victory in the end. And then, after two games, he's just killed off screen like a random background character. Even if they couldn't get Frank back to play Slavik for some reason (though I'm fairly certain he'd do it under the right circumstances, seeing how his career was and still is pretty stagnant), either mentioning him doing something cool somewhere else (easy to do, just have Kane say something like "While my most trusted general, Anton Slavik, is busy doing this and that in that region over there, YOU, my child, must blah blah blah" - done, TS fans have been acknowledged), or not mentioning him at all (thus, avoiding bad story decisions that nullify the previous games) would've been much better. Or heck, that one guy who looked like older Slavik in one of the cutscenes? Just make HIM Slavik after the fact and let that be his one and only appearance - then we all could just assume that Slavik is around doing stuff, but that stuff is not directly related to our story. Anything other than a random off screen death would've been better, really. But no, nah, can't do it the smart way.
Well i consider Kanes Wrath much better than Tiberium Wars, but i found the Cinematics in Wars better than the older outdated from Sun. But the whole world will agree that Tiberium Twilight is a fucking...no not even a joke. It simply doesn't exist.

They should sell a CABAL voice for Alexa. Would be a cool voice to talk to. :)
I love angry Kane gets whenever he comes back to run the show. In Kane's Wrath his first cut scene is literally just him ranting to LEGION about how everyone fucking up.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Literally
except that slavik was the only one who follows kanes commands without question and can think almost as precise as him😎
@@FireFlash_TheUmbraPonyGuardian Only to get assassinated by Marcion and GDI spec ops. Leading to Kane's rant about everyone ruining his plans. XD

They definitely had a better script for this one. Better acting, too.

From what I understand, Firestorm is the first game that's canon for both sides of the story.
yes. Firestorm is the first game to have both campaign as canon. Later on, C&C3: Tiberium Wars also have all campaign are canon
(It might also be noteworthy that C&C Generals is presumed to take place in the same timeline that the original Einstein travelled back to kill Hitler in)
Ellwill someone’s been watching there No Strings PRD
I love the fact the Kabal behaviour was predictible. In tiberium sun, at the end of the briefing of an optional mission (which you have to free a nod officier to beat Hassan), he says something like "...do it to achieve my visi... the Kane vision"
He said. : "To my......your movement "
THAT actually makes sense. I've always wondered what the connection was between that cutscene and C&C 3 and Kane's Wrath.
The BAL in CABAL does stand for 'Biologically Augmented Lifeform'.
CABAL = 'Computer Assisted Biologically Augmented Lifeform'. I wish they would have had time to finished this storyline properly. :(

Dammit EA!!! ARGH!!!
combinecommando001 Cabal is actually an updated EVA with 3 humans in stasis with their minds connected to Cabal to vastly increase his intelligence and AI.
4:24 Cabal grins when they bring up the assassination of Tratos.
Old games really respected the player and gave a bit of reverence to how they affected the story. Nowadays the player is just kinda.....there.
Meanwhile in cancel game: CABAL those have his own force really goes Rouge

In Firestorm we see a very different side to Slavic. He used to be calm and calculating in Tiberian Sun, but here we also see his enormous ego. Without the player's save-load powers it's clear Slavic could have never bested McNeil.

Neo james82 fighting.
If he was fighting the Scrin then why would he purposefully draw the Scrin to Earth? I highly doubt that he 100% knew humanity could take the aliens on at the time. he needed the scrin to make the towers but he did not want the rest of them there

Isn't the beginning just FaceTime?
