A film by Yulia Mahr.
Solo Violin: Mari Samuelsen
Piano: Max Richter
Mercy, written ten years ago for Hilary Hahn, and played here so beautifully by Mari Samuelsen, was the starting point for the whole of VOICES. Over the years of working on the project, the music has taken many forms, nearly all of them put to one side, but the music of Mercy has always been a sort of pole star, guiding the rest of the piece. Yulia’s beautiful film places the question of mercy and compassion firmly into our everyday world. We are all in this together.

Thank you. The world is a little bit better because this exists.
You scooped the words right out of my mouth.
I love , max Richter he is an inspiration to me! I would like to invite you to go to my channel and also listen to my music!;-)

That is it, Magnus.
That's true
Everything about this is perfect.
Nothing is perfect in this world
@@vikashmourya8964 art is the only thing perfect in this world
I agree.. It evokes memories of a love out of time. 💔
a perfect depiction of imperfection
It is perfect hes very good Richter makes beautiful music
This is the perfect illustration of “be kind because you have no idea what someone is suffering/going through.”
Muy bien dicho.👋
sometimes there is a pleasure of being sad.. quietly and with a muffled smile
I enjoy being sad by myself, it allows me to think
sometimes a wolf finds road kill
@@mikebelisle6031I understand you
Sometimes it is a luxury to allow myself to feel the sadness. There is an indescribable pleasure in it.
Some pieces can somehow show you the hidden scars on your soul.
" “Who are you?” Well, you say, “I’m Paul Jones,” or whatever your name happens to be. I say, “Oh, no, no, no, no, don’t give me that stuff. Who are you really?” And you think, “Well, of course I’m just-I’m just me.” “No! Don’t give me that! I don’t want to hear all that nonsense. You’re playing a trick on me. Really, deep down, who are you?” “I don’t know!” Well, that’s the thing to find out. That’s the thing that’s been forgotten, see? That’s the underside of the tapestry; the thing that’s been left out." Alan Watts
So, who are you?
@@JibbsCompilations go to "alan watts" for that 😅
😭🥰
On the nature of daylight, all human beings and mercy are the holy trinity.
No way, the entirety of Memoryhouse alone deserves a pedestal. :))
Remember remember the track of November?
A holy trinity of Max Richter songs without 'November' ? You must be kidding...
@@moemile6749 Sarajevo tho :)
Moe Milé November mmmmm, chile, lemme listen
La pace è più bella della vita , è la vita è una grazia, anche se sfuma sempre tra le nuvole passeggere. E il tempo continua a passare. 😊
Todo el mundo debería conocer a Max Richter.
After my mother died, sometimes things get too heavy I can't help but put my head to the ground, close my eyes and pray. Pray for strength and for mercy. I lost my father a year later. And I know a lot of people have the same feeling. This lonely feeling. We feel alone together. I, too, pray for your strength and for God have mercy on all of us.
Max Richter, I want you to know you have emotionally ripped my heart out & handed it to me with this song. There is one other of yours that also has the same effect on me.....November.
I am a 68 year old woman, home bound because of my health with numerous problems. I have accepted I am winding down my life. I wish I had done more, done things differently, could have another chance & maybe I will get one in my next life.
I have gotten into music more & yours touches my heart. It lets me know it's still in there doing it's thing for now. But soon enough it will end & I hope some of your beautiful music will be playing for me as I leave this world.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent, your beautiful music with us.....with me.
Jamie Crabtree-Messenger.....Tennessee
Thank you for sharing🙏 This brings souls together.
Your a wonderful woman
I think it's very profound how people from all walks of life are able to share a connection through music. Thank you for being here with us
Dear Jamie! I want to share you one prophesy from the Bible: "And he (the God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away" (Revelation 21:4). This life will be on the earth! And now don't give up!
Blessings to you.❤️
How does this man manage to have me in tears EVERY time I listen to his music.
Sublime.... Achingly beautiful ❤️
Dude(tte) I also am not ok after listening to this
I think that is true for so many of us
I love , max Richter he is an inspiration to me! I would like to invite you to go to my channel and also listen to my music!;-)
I feel the same way as you. Max's music grabs my heart so much that I cry every time. But they are tears of happiness and hope.
Then discover The Nature of Daylight and weep more.
Godam this violin stabs deeper than a knife
Goddam you’re right!
😢of course
I'm speechless. These chords can reach the deepest roots of human emotions.
Max is the legend
WOW! I am speechless. There is suffering in everyone's life . We just need to empathise and sympathise. We need see the bigger picture. We are born, live and die. We need to be kind and help each other because there is suffering in everyone's life. Let us be unconditionally kind. Let us Love unconditionally. May all living beings be well and happy. (The practise of " Metta" loving kindness in Buddhism ). This kind of music for those who truly enjoy music. This will not be on billboard top 100 , but it will heal thousands of souls.
yeaahh that´s right!!
I love your comment! Life is beautiful, even if we all need some mercy from time to time.
The suffering would be if there were no better music than this talent free shite
The part at ~2:30 where the man, who I presume is a widower, thinks back to marrying his wife, always gets me. Indeed, the whole presentation and the music is a moving reflection on the human experience.
For all TIs on our journey..thank you Max Richter for the light that you bring to this world!
I feel like this is about human connection. Raw. Unfiltered. Let's see 🙌
Deeply moving, in a nostalgic, hauntingly beautiful sense.
I so agree with you. I've been listening to this a lot of late, and at times it can move me to tears.
My heart is broken in so many ways at this moment and has been for so long. But we must move on. Max, your music brings my soul such needed peace in this loveless world. Thank you.
Opino igual que tu, asi es, Max me da paz, yo sigo roto y no remonto
The human condition. What does it mean to be human? The sadness, pervasive in so many's eyes... the fleeting moments of happiness... the depression lurking under the surface... the struggle just to survive... the beauty in raw moments... nature's unrelenting magnificence... sunshine on faces... warmth... melancholy... reminiscence... childhood... not knowing what lies ahead... it's all these things and somehow we choose every day whether it's worth the fight.
Yes. Profound thoughts. I agree.
We're all alone.. but atleast we're never alone alone.
How does he create this kind of magic
I don’t think there’s a more perfect harmony of video and music. Every note and imagery pierces my heart.
The music of Max Richter is mercy for humanity on earth.
So many people fail to understand my mental trials and leave my life. I am happy for the select few that held on through it all. It never goes unnoticed and for that I am forever grateful.
Why do you make this all about yourself? It's not all about you.
You know when you hear violins, it's going to be very moving. It's going to hit the heart... 💙
Yeah, at some stage people start to realize their strong connection with their childhood and all that was long time ago when everything was airily, carefree. This is very straight forward feeling, it makes you feel happy once again. Feel the roots, feel the moment, have mercy.
Max is a genius. The emotion he manages to create from these masterpieces. Sometimes it feels almost too much to bear. Love reading the comments to see so many like minded individuals are still around! 🤗😍
Why does it almost feel too much to bear? I agree, but I don’t know why. It brings out a rawness inside of me that I’m afraid to feel I think.
this will remain a Masterpiece for decades.
I always think, no one's going to "get" this... But then there's always so many that do. Thank you. (As much as I thank Max, and Mari, and Yulia.) (Art doesn't save us. But it does save me.)
why would you think that? it is quite an accessible in its music language not to take away from its beauty
@@AndreyRubtsovRU Perhaps it's a language translation problem for you. So many see this piece, just say "yup" and click on. Lacking connection... Which can be the very mercy this piece engenders.
Never get tired of listening to this ❤❤❤
"Written ten years ago for Hilary Hahn, and played here so beautifully by Mari Samuelsen". I have no words, just one: DIVINE
Music that pierce through the hearth ❤ I hope I'll have the chance to hear it live this year in Berlin
This piece is so good, both because of its simplicity and because of the virtuoso playing of the instrumentalists, that it could easily have been 60 minutes long without being boring for a single second.
Sunday night alone and I connect with everyone I know who gets this music , mood and melancholy 🙏🙏
I have grown to appreciate music that I can feel, rather than simply hear. This piece touched me deeply. Thank you.
It’s such a gift to have this peaceful masterpiece in this chaotic world. Peace for the soul and peace for the heart, that’s all we need in this life...
I wonder every few weeks or maybe a month if this piece is truly as special as remembered...
It always has been and still is
Whatever happened at 4:33 engulfed me, it was as if my soul was on fire, what an absolute thrill!
Thank you. I still love humans. I am a midwife, and each day at work I experience that every new mom, every tiny baby and every dad needs the same. They need to feel safe and understood so they can express their love for each other. Love is our most important job on earth. And we are not the only beings here on earth, we humans are deeply connected with animals and nature. I love our beautiful planet so much. Thank you Max Richter for touching my heart. You are a wonderful person
Thank you for your comment! 1000 likes. Let there be PEACE!
This is a gift to the world, thank you Max Richter
The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.
Brother, you have no idea...
Thank for putting it so well...
From one outside the tribe.
There is not worthed life outside the tribe, we need to rebuild our connections with people, our relatives and community.

This is one of the songs - when my soul talking to me ............Thanks
This is art. This is beauty. This is everything.
oh my god... magical
I really love Max Richter's music. It is heavenly beautiful.
It is wondrous just how emotionally moving, evocative, and connected a seemingly random series of unrelated scenes become by the addition of music that knits the images together into a relevant whole. Richter's compositions are so seemingly simple and yet so stunningly heart-rending.
highly grateful to be graced with another visual leading up to the Voices releases
I don't have the words, it's not about words - it's all there in the music and the imagery...............................
Max: in my loneliness this song has been my great company. I love the scene of the older man remembering one of the best moments of his life, what he loves the most.
Its about lonelyness and shattered hopes and dreams and hardly able to make connection
Why not about hope & love :)?
It's what you make of it.
Every second is Worth of one tear
it is so heart touching
when we all starts from the childhood and we all have equal dignity
Прекрасная музыка, в ней есть всё, рождение, радость, печаль, тоска, желание жить, жить вопреки всему
Больше всего в ней надежды, в кульминации!
This world owes you so much, you true Artists.
Extreme Beautiful
Breaks my heart, and I don't know why. 😔🙏💜
I wonder if the subway is a modern representation of Plato’s Allegory of The Cave. At the end of the video we are taken up the steps out of the cave and into the world.
Keep writing Max. We want to hear more
This music is life as it should be and as it always was before we lost our way.
perfect
This is the perfect picture of how we crave human connection on a daily basis and we come back to our memories to find it there. Instead of creating new experiences, we are always coming back to that safe place. Beautiful.
I just started listening to Max's music, Baltic Sea Philharmonic, from Classic radio KUSC here in Sherman Oaks, California. Love his music. I ordered the🙂 Exiles CD.
The emotions this song pulls out of me is incredible. Most beautiful song in the world.
This song dances with my soul directly.
Just, just awesome and then some. A masterpiece.
Mari Samuelsen carries this piece. Amazing, what sounds she can pull out of the violin
Hello and as the song Mercy says, I am a therapist and composer and Max has a wonderful sensitivity, his songs are full of delicacy and love. Thanks a lot Max
