Beautiful hey.. during the dry season (winter) it's always sunny and the temperature is spot on! No complaints though, the stormy season keeps things interesting!
Listen, I absolutely love your storytelling and editing. If you can make a go of the youtube thing, go for it. You certainly are better than most, but man there is a lot of competition. Ultimately, what you want out of life is going to dictate the compromises you choose to get there. Kids, schools, retirement funds, health insurance and all that are a complication if you go the youtuber route, but that freedom is hard to put a price on. There can be some joy in regular employment as well if you love what you do and seems like John likes his flying gig. Perhaps keep the boat, get a place near the water and do weekends and holidays on the boat? Nobody can decide on a path that is right for the two of you, so good luck with that! Sailing Merewether had a similar situation after a few years.
🙈🙈🙈 Cheers Peter, this makes me feel less goofy! I sometimes wonder if I should cut these bits out, but when you make me feel comfortable in myself, I feel like I can lay my personality and everything bare and on the table for you legends ❤️🥹💭 So grateful xx
Fraser Island is amazing, I was there in 88 while backpacking with 10 others from all over the world. I remember having the best time partying on the island and shot gunning goon bags on the beach. The whole island was pretty much empty, it's a lot different now, but still beautiful.
WOW! That's hilarious, shot gunning goon bags!! What a hoot! It's still very popular these days with tourists and 4WD'ing and plenty of camping spots. Hope our next episode is a bit of a blast from the past and brings back more of those amazing memories! ❤️ Cheers Tony
You need a few citronella candles in glass and metal holders on board. They are pretty common for camping here in the US. A single citronella pot will keep the better part of a campsite free of the no=see-ums and blood suckers..
Hey there Roger! Happy weekend to you. Hope you had a fabulous week. Thanks for stopping by this weekend and saying g'day! We love hearing from you and knowing where you're watching from! Cheers, Kristina (and John who's next to me 🤗)
Hi guys the two of you are like a well oiled machine. It really is impressive how you have become real sailors. The two of you could start a charter company. I love how real the experience you provide through your video's. Safe sailing you two. Peace
Hey Vince, we're getting there! Cheers, I know you've been with us over the past year, so thank you for being with us through this epic journey as it nears to an end here in Aus, with another soon on the horizon! Looking forward to getting back to Europe soon, with new scenery and a different culture. Cheers for your feedback, appreciate you taking the time to say hello and showing us some love, its nice to hear from you x
Hey guys from a very o'cast day in Melbourne town today with top of 21C and rain, sometimes heavey which you can equate with I am sure. Guys another brilliant video as always & just love your work, Kristina. You have hinted before that John was ready for work again & you had previously said that you were at anchor somewhere, whilst John had gone back to flying & you were alone cathching up on editing which obviously takes up a loy of your time but no quick answer for that but do hope that you both are safe wherever you are at present. In your time away, 165 days, you have certainly learnt a lot & I admire John's calm attitude to most hardships. You 2 make a great team & I cannot wait to hear what's in store for you in the future. God bless & stay safe. Love.
I'll be 76 in four months. So I never ask myself "what is the purpose of xxxx" because I don't want to learn anything new, I only want to remember what I already know! This episode well-narrated, again! Best, Webhead USA
it has its hard times. we are doing it on a 42 ft 1973' model boat with a baby and two dogs! been full time since december. - negatives aside... we do save alot of money :) hope you and john are doing well
Unfortunate that you were unlucky with the weather and the mosquitoes. We anchored on the north-western side of K'Gari - Fraser Island in Platypus Bay many times with no mosquito issues on the boat (there will be sandflies on the island in the evening though). We have done a few bareboat charters now from Hervey Bay and it's such a great way to explore Platypus Bay and the Great Sandy Strait. Always a good adventure for the family 😄
Really have enjoyed ur documentation of the story of tukana, ur life accomplishments and ur incredible future. I'm sticking right by u both, I also appreciate the effort it's taken to bring it all to us so Thankyou so very much. If I could afford to be a patron, I would most certainly, I feel like I miss the best parts of ur journey. 😢 please be safe, care for each other and always smile, because after a storm, comes a 🌈🇦🇺
15:40 The past is gone, the future doesn't exist, all you really have is now. I love that you share your personal Revaluation. Follow your heart. Remember, security causes complacency. You are fortunate to have this opportunity to gain the realization that money is not the answer, it's just a tool. The less you have to depend on it the better. "Cheers"
So enjoyed this episode. There’s no question regarding whether to stay on the boat or go back the world: keep the boat!! Save as much as you can so you can spend as much time on the boat as possible. Tbh, John’s got a career that, as long as he keeps his hours up, he’ll be able to maintain his employment and spend lots of time on the boat. Meanwhile, you stick with the boat, keep editing videos, handling the business end of your burgeoning media empire, take on some free lance media related. work, and do some modeling on the side. You guys have got it going on!!
My wife is a nurse, working all the overtime she can. We have no debt and put every spare dollar into a 401(k). She will retire in 10 years at age 50 (I'll be 42). We will, at that time, be multimillionaires and will build a nice home on the North Carolina coast.
@@jwm4436 He? Who he? So, I was contrasting our plan with Kristina's. Just that there's more than one way to get out of the rat race. We're not sailors, but we love the ocean.
Another Saturday suprise 😁. Its easy to see how much you guys have advanced in such a short period of time, Even with language / terminology you use. "Flaking the line" 👍👍. Keep up the great work, looking forward to more of your adventures 😊
Hehe!! Glad you enjoyed the surprise, I like to keep you on your toes, clearly! 😛 Cheers Simon, I like to make it 'appear' like I know what I'm doing !!! LOL! Nah, jokes, you're right 🥹🥹 sometimes I pinch myself to think how far we've come, but I still feel so out of my depth sometimes because everything comes so easy to John and I'm a little more of a slow learner. I'm definitely more visual, not the analytical one, but I try!!!! It's nice to be forever learning 🧡 Cheers Simon, we CAN'T wait to get to Europe for summer for more adventures too! YAY
Always a pleasure watching your videos. Have You guys ever considered in the distant future getting a crew and doing either the Sydney to Hobart or Melbourne to Hobart?
Hey Bopper! Thanks for watching on this beautiful Saturday 💭🙌 I mean, we’ve done it in reverse, does that count?! 😅😅 No, to be honest, I haven’t considered doing the proper race because I feel I’d let the team down 😅 I’d be too busy filming 🙈 But I know John would love to do it one day! ❤️ Have you done it before? If so what’s it like?!
@@KristinasTravels I have crewed one year in the Sydney to Hobart on a boat similar size to yours.. we did it for the adventure of it with 6 crew and it was a great experience, we had good winds for most of it and we took 5 & half days. It's a feeling I'll never forget sailing up the Derwent to constitution dock and having a crowd to greet you when you arrive.. It's worth the experience with mates who can sail and you can say I did that
Great episode guys really enjoyed it but makes me think how fickle the east coast weather has been the last few years. I spent a week anchored in the Lady Musgrave atoll for a week and the weather was stable but these days it is crazy.
I definitely question myself about things and your question do you value time more than money has some answers. Now I have 2 wonderful amazing girls the time I get to spend with them because of work is an issue. Time is valuable for sure here. Money wise - well this is affecting everyone but costs are going up and up and income well, lets just say its not keeping pace. So more time @ work = less time @with girls :( Wow that beach was whiter than white - enjoy!
It’s such a juggle isn’t it. And that’s the question I think we all face in life. I guess it’s just being aware of it, and having a goal, but more importantly enjoying the journey and not putting too much pressure on ourselves 🧡💭 Your girls sounds lucky to have a Dad like you! I’m sure you cherish every moment 🙌
You have a big decision to make...keep living the life or re-join the rat race. Whatever you decide I hope you keep sharing your lives with us. Great quality right from the beginning and I have never seen a single episode I didn't enjoy.
It’s been fun watching you and John on this adventure. Aside from the storms it seems to have been a fun time, and busy time. One question I have for you two, what would you say is the ratio to time spent sailing and the amount of time doing maintenance?
Great episode. How good are $10 happy hour bars you asked? I am horrified you think that's good. Lol. Happy hour at my local runs from 12pm to 7pm. Stubbies are $1.70, glasses of wine and cocktails are $4. Now that's a happy hour. (or seven). But not in Australia obviously.
Wowwwww! Everyone must be plastered!!! (slang for drunk!) That's so cheap!!!!!! A cocktail is usually about $18-22 each here.. but thats about $15USD at the moment with your strong dollar. $4USD is $5.80AUD, but if you add TAX and a tip (presuming you're from America?) that's getting close to $10AUD here too. You see, our prices in AUS include tax and also we don't pay tips! Fun fact hehe x
