Ha ha ha... My dad would do stuff like that... after 8 kids he was just tired! He'd yell if you held fridge door open more than 30 seconds, spilt a glass of water and forget bout it if it was milk.
I guess I was around 13 cooked dinner for us bc mom worked nights... Spaghetti. I stuck a candy thermometer in boiling noodles and it instantly broke. U know how kids do... I almost didn't tell him because I didn't want to get yelled at. After he immediately dumped noodles out in desert behind our house, he came back inside and asked me why we almost ate mercury ( I wasn't aware it would of killed us, then) & I said because I was afraid he'd yell at me😮!
I love my dad, miss them good ol' days of
my youth! It's a miracle I made it to adulthood, so, thank You so much, Jesus! and dad! ❤️
God eating mercury would be bad enough, but did you not think about the shards of broken glass first? One thing I miss about living out at my parents house in the country is if you cook something awful, you can always dump it over the wire into the horse pasture.
p. s. My dad is still Mr manly man, but my mom's work schedule is severe sometimes, he got really good at cooking all sorts of stuff. The one thing we don't want him to do is to vacuum. he is so OCD, it's like a 2-hour process. He's gotten better, most of the house has wood floors now.

I think that's why I fessed up, he would of hit the ceiling had he bit into a piece of glass! The poor guy had 2 eldest that come with my mom and they had 3 girls then finally a boy, then my mom's sister hitched to Vegas from N.England to give her baby over for adoption to her sister but it was twins and he adopted me & my brother. By the time I was cooking for him , all I had to do to get out of the house was rub his aching back for 20 mins+just 10 more rubs a couple xs. 8 kids and the only kids worse than a cops( he retired after 37 yrs)kids are the preachers kids! 🤣 Mom worked full time & idk if they had a savings (mom passed 1st) or not bc he remarried, & his new wife took all. U know, I loved my mom and dad so much, I still miss them & hope to see them again one fine day! Take care!
