I don’t really watch much late night TV in general… I loathe partisan American politics- left or right- and so I’m not Kimmel or Colbert’s target audience, even though I think they are both talented individuals. I would watch the Tonight Show if Fallon weren’t so insufferable. Now, I’d watch any late night show Dana Carvey hosted!

Dana Carvey actually did have his own show at one point. It was hilarious, but too edgy for advertisers.

Carvey does the same bits/impressions all the time. He's funny, no doubt, but enough to sustain a talk show 5 nights a week for years and years? He's 67, no spring chicken, doing a daily show is a huge grind and better suited to younger people. I doubt he would want all the work and hassle that comes with a talk show at this stage of his life. He doesn't need to work.

Guillermo's last three words were predictably valid. At any rate, this is a brilliant performance by Carvey, as usual. I'm 54 years old and grew up with the original SNL cast and on and on. Dana was obviously a standout. Great stuff.
