Wow, Jasper…this series is your absolute masterpiece till now! Every detail is just perfect and entertaining and it is super exciting how your race will go on. Hope you get that well deserved playbutton soon! Thank you so much for this entertainment, I’m suffering with you every episode 😅
It was such a desperate attempt! I have been watching your channel for a long time but I have never seen you before in this physical and emotional exhaustion. I don't even understand how you can film the views and do climbing full gas at the same time. I'm watching it with great pleasure. My applause to you, Jasper. 👏
If yours legs are smashed your competitions legs must be in the same pain - comes down to mental strength, keep going Jasper. Nice Sirocco kit as well.
makes no sense, pain is your body talking to you, usually means somethings wrong, like if you brake a bone, do not continue to use it. or a heart attack doesnt mean keep working.
@@simmer484 also the way I explained pain is much more accurate, plus the best wat to get stronger is train longer, more frequently, and less intense, which means no pain. The Russians figured that out decades ago and we're just catching on. So yes I get the dumb quote trying to sound cool but it's wrong on all levels.
@@timtaylor9590 No one could possibly miss your point. You have a little knowledge that you are flexing in some UA-cam comments. It's just it's not getting the traction that perhaps you'd hoped. A motivational quote that some people find useful during intense demands on their body. That is all it is. The same way the quote 'No pain no gain' is not an attempt to reverse 100 years of research in to how the central nervous system works, and most people, though seemingly not you, understand that.
That feeling when you think you are a somewhat decent hobby cyclist with a 300W FTP and Jasper is like "300W is my zone2" "I can't push more than 300W" :D Beast!
Another exciting episode, what a strenuous race! Great ending ride with you WooHooing and Yeehahaing down to Haute Route Village. 😀 Nice Drake team up. And good to see a woman at the top of the rankings! Haven’t looked this forward to a morning race since the TdF. 😊
The content is just amazing, Jaspers, because it is so relatable and useful! And a good cry at the end is always a good thing. I completed the 2022 L'Etape du Tour de France at the top of Alp d'Huez (one of the worst places for 40 kph finishes), went to the team tent, bit into a wonderfully sweet, wet, and cold watermelon slice then started bawling. LOL. Surprised there was still enough hydration for tears! Your videos are enjoyable.
Absolutly wow! It´s like i am there. But i am pretty sure i can climb such a mountain only with my car, not with my bike. 😁I really like alle the background story how you organized your stages. Really really great work on the PC as well! 👌
another great one. Love this (and the last year's) series. Super cool to hear you walk us through the tactics, especially the Croix de Fer here. That counter attack at 8:15 🤙 Would love to see a power/HR data overlay during the race footage but know that takes time to add (and tricky to synch). Excited for the next chapter!
I can sort of feel your pain, after doing the Marmot ride in 2004 (not official event but same exact route) and bonking hard on the Galibier with no support. Had no food left but found a small cottage shelter near the top selling cheese and an Orangina, saved my life literally. Found enough energy to finish the on the Alpe. Your documentary here brought it all back. You are an incredibly tough bike rider! Thanks for providing this well done series!! So much fun to watch this!!
Nice work with the editing Jasper. No ac in a new hotel when it’s 40 degrees daytime . It’s not likes summer temps are going down.We toured the country in 03 and it was brutally hot . .
Until you said it in the video i completeley forgot that Haute Route Alps is longer than the other Editions. In light of that this was a monster effort again Jasper. Its great that you take us with you P.S. You should ask Siroko to make a Skinsuit, so you can get every last Watt out of it. Would also be great for us mortals if there is a affordable skinsuit😄
Seeeeeya!
Awesome videos to watch on my lunch break. I do think the music was a bit too loud, it made it hard to listen you talking sometimes, but still amazing job.
Ha, a good cry is sometimes refreshing, after that effort you are allowed to show emotion, that was incredible. I hope you will descend a LOT slower in Mallorca so I can try to follow your wheel (I know staying on your wheel is not gonna happen!). I got the badge for Alp de Zwift in under 60 minutes, that day I cried, I also scared my self, couldn't get my breath, felt like throwing up, thought about a heart attack ... so much fun! Great job again Jasper (Race and Video)
In summer in Aus, before we got AC installed, me and the missus used to freeze bottles of water in the freezer and put them in our bed to keep us cool. Defo helped me get to sleep.
Love the series Jasper. Just watched the first 4 episodes and ill be watching the other ones the rest of the night. I have one question: why do you base food intake on np instead of average power? I thought the kilojoules burned during the ride were based on averaged power?
Because the amount of carbs burned is based on how high the intensity is. Above ftp yhe carb burn increases exponentially (and than decreases when going very high) So it’s better guess using NP than avg
Take my word for it...the Siroko stuff is really great quality. The shorts and chamois are great and hold up really well. You don't have to spend $350 for an ASSOS or Rapha stuff.
I am always baffled when I hear someone say I can barely do 300 watt up a clime when I have difficulty even getting up a hill. Truely an impressive ride.
Great videos, great content, getting better and better, again and again. Could be nice to meet few guys riding the race if you can? Few words from them to know who they are? Male, female, oldest, youngest, whatever is interesting for us :)
The crazy thing is I was on his wheel with 4 other guys right on my wheel, and if you thought he ride throught the front of the car, we all did more... so yeah... Risky bisky lol

EPISODE 5 GOES LIVE TOMORROW!! Let me know what you think of this part! 👇👇👇
Best cycling mini series on YT...your videos are amazing!!
Glad you like them!
The Galibier from all the way down, including the Télégraphe, is one hell of a ride on its own. You did fantastic

Thanks!!
Check my documentary of haute Route Dolomites, I went pretty deep on stelvio and gavia too 💪🏻💪🏻
❤...I bonked just watching...amazing effort 😊
😂😂
You crushed this stage Jasper 🎉 This was a 10 hour day for me... Pogi has the KOM fot the Col du Galibier at 1:45.09, I did it in 4:45.10.😂
Long days my man!
Really enjoying this series Jasper. Incredible that you kept filming while after you completely emptied the tank.
Story must go on!
It’s getting better and better 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💪💪💪💪
The scenery is breathtaking, but your unwavering grit and honesty steal the show!
If yours legs are smashed your competitions legs must be in the same pain - comes down to mental strength, keep going Jasper. Nice Sirocco kit as well.
300 watts is the upper end off zone 2 🥵
Watt a monster💪
Jasper's FTP is not 400, he's just being mischievous 🔥
His 20 minute max power is 430 so it is possible that his ftp is around 400 but obviously not after 4 days of racing and at altitude
@@marianbossman this is insanely high 😀
Pain is weakness leaving your body. Awesome quote.

That amazing feeling of giving it all and having nothing left. My favorite part of cycling.
Fantastic riding, Fantastic camera work, Fantastic editing. Thanks for doing all this whilst also suffering.
Hey Jasper! I really like the way you implement a different part of your gear in each episode! Hoping to learn more about your cameras as well :)
Together with the vc's Impossible Route series, this is the best thing on cycling UA-cam.
Thanks for taking us on this journey! Filming and editing I’m sure takes a toll on your rest. So, appreciate these wonderful videos you put out 😅🎉
Even though the race is "way above my paygrade", I really enjoy this format. So cool to follow along!

Really enjoying this set of videos, you have done a lot of good films, but this is the best!
This is so good. Wonderful wrap ups, heaps of fun to watch.
So good, Jasper. You are spoiling! 😊👍
what an episode, what an effort! recognising those views from riding the same hills, makes me shiver
This is what a man pushed to his absolute maximum looks like. Legendary stuff

Amazing documentary, Jasper, thanks for putting these videos together (next to smashing it on the bike) - keep it going!
I cried a little bit too. So inspiring bruv!

That was an epic performance! Racing and editing!
Loving the series, you are on to something here.
Heerlijk, heerlijk, heerlijk. En respect voor het diepgaan. Bizar hoe je dan mentaal heel kwetsbaar wordt als je zo fysiek stuk gaat. Mooi man!

Nope, no such thing as global warming lol. Great work Jasper 👏
how are those wheels?
Amazing!!
Are you only taking the carb drink and gels on the stages
Or are you eating real food a long the way?
During race only liquid
Way to go Jasper. I am cheering for you. Can we meet Samantha?
Go to Italy
