WoW! Thank you so much! I'm new here :) I have learned more from you in one day than on any of the other videos I've ever watched, and there's been a lot of them! LOL. I actually am going to give designing a go. You've taken the mystery out of it...and thank you for that. Peace to you :)
OKAY!!!... This video is yet another of my ALL-TIME FAVES!!! Just love "lookin' over your shoulder" 'n listenin' to your CREATIVE PROCESS! You are a RUG HOOKING GENIUS, M'dear!!! And Jocelyn, QUEEN OF DYERS! The two of you, a DYNAMIC DUO! THANK U SOOO MUCH, Deana!!! xxx
Just need to thank you for being you. Whenever I feel like putting down my hook I just go to ur UA-cam site and get right back at it! I am off to Portugal this week but can’t wait to watch more when I get back in April. Merci Beaucoup 😍
Deana , Thank you for the Tracing paper tutorial for Rug Hooking/Punch Needle Art. I have no artistic ability whatsoever, but as Deanne Fitzpatrick says, you don't have to be an Artist !! I LOVE that. I want to create my own , even if it is just crazy lines , shapes, etc!! Thanks again. :)
Just watched this video & found it very helpful. I'm a beginner & thought something primitive would be easier than shading, etc. I've created two patterns, but not sure how to attach them?
I really want to make a rug. It looks so relaxing. I’m planning on being out of work for a surgery and recovery, so my budget is on hold for a while. 😫
Thanks for e-mailing back. No I'm not on facebook - closed out. and our computer service is very, very, slow. I live "what's known as exhausted system" on our rural road - with many, many, people who are not within a larger town, city, etc. bountry. Here is the promblem. Wentzville is abt. 40 miles from where I live. St.Peters is longer away. Columbia is known as St.Peter's distance. When I started to look at your "fellow hookers" I was truly amazed. Thank you...Denice
Hi Stella... the early videos are mirror... I hadn't figured out how to flip videos then. I can't correct them once they're up but recent ones are all flipped xx
I use a lot of different backing so it really depends on whether i'm working into linen, monks cloth, or rugwarp. Hook with everything from super super wide ripped strips to really thin sock yarn.
I got them at a flea market, LOST them - and I eep going back to the same stall but they never have them! I know they're turned up eventually but hopefully not crushed under something!
I'm confused! I am watching your videos and want to start this hobby. But I don't know if I'm looking at the back of the design or do I hook the year "2020" in backwards? I know from your other videos that the punch hooking is worked from the back of the design, that the work in progress is actually the back of the product. Is that the same philosophy with rug hooking? And how to I prevent all this work from snagging and ripping out?
Hi Jenny, you are right. This is one of my older videos where I was still struggling with some of my clips being mirrored. The clip in the last minute of the video is mirrored and the real project, a rug hooking project, is shown reversed; with rug hooking you work on the side that will be displayed (the real project you see in the last minute has 20 20 in the corners). You will find with both punch needle and rug hooking that in the finished rug the loops will fix each other and snagging and ripping out will be minimal; especially is you finish the edges by binding them (I have a video about finishing your rugs too: ua-cam.com/video/6adbZbewRuE/v-deo.html)
@@RibbonCandyHooking Okay, thank you for your response. Now I understand! Although, there for a while, I thought you were Super Woman and your "Super Power" was that you could write backwards! I was very impressed! I have to tell you that I not only have enjoyed and learned from your videos, but I continue to be drawn all of your videos because you show that you are just as real as the rest of us out here and you deal with the same issues that we do (barking dogs, lawnmowers, running kids in the background of videos.) Thank you for putting the realistic spin on your very informative videos. I don't know you personally, but feel like I have a friend all the way across the continent from me! (I live in beautiful Alaska!)
I'd say parchment over wax. Still, I think its cheaper to buy a roll of the Alvin tracing off Amazon. It comes in lots of lengths and widths and will be a better buy.
@@RibbonCandyHooking Thank you for e-mailing back. I have not started anything as of yet. Will do. How do you or "all hookers" get this started in Missouri??? Denice
@@denicelehnen1192 are you on facebook? I have a group called Rug Hooking & Punch Needle Club. You can give a shout out in there and see who's near you. People have been meeting in there from all over!
I usually do the sulky transfer pen method if I'm using monk's cloth or linen. I did a video on that, transferring with a transfer pen. Sometimes I use netting, I did a video on that to transferring your design with netting. If the design is on the complicated side I try to use the transfer pen. It comes out clearer with more detail.
When taping with a camera/phone the image is reversed, a mirror image. There is a way through the app when recording to get the image to reverse (somewhere). We are looking at the mirror image of the real world in the video.

Love this! So inspirational!
Loved this video. Thanks for sharing so many ways to get started designing our hooking craft.
Excellent tutorial Deanna!!! Thanks.
I LOVE hooking but it's very expensive and difficult to get supplies so I'd like to try punch needle.
Super awesome video lol less caffeine just kidding😎

such great content! Thank you for this video!
This one of my favorite videos from you. It is so creative and it makes me feel that I can do it too.
Nancy, you CAN do it. Once you get one drawing on backing and see how well it hooks, you'll realize you were an artist all along!xx
Your videos are so informative. I’m learning a lot
If you stare at that, the shape of the vase, on the side, look like faces.
You are so encouraging and positive I am inspired by you
That makes so super happy xxx
You always make me laugh with comments ..love the videos..im a new hooked lol
I was enthralled by this video! So much information and inspiration! THX!

Deanna designs are lovely but what kind of wool would you use with such small pieces of drawing in thrm
You make this look effortless. Excited to try it

Loving how you work and how your video gets right to it. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing you again. Many thanks!
What brand and size hook are you using with the yarn? I like that your hook gets larger on the shank. Thanks so much! Linda

Hi is it just my monitor or are your writings coming out mirror image? Thanks for doing this really handy. Stella

What paper is that and where do you get that size
Hi - Deanna - what backing and size holes are you using for the witch yarn hooking please. X

Love the glasses where did you get them?

Thank you for the inspiration. I'm gonna try it.
Let me know how it goes xx
I am impressed you can write cursive backwards!!
Really enjoyed this. What is the paper you are using? Just subscribed.
Good! Its a roll from Amazon and the brand is Alvin. I use it for drawing and tracing.
How do you put your drawings that are traced first ,,then on the canvas? Thanks
Hi, Annie. I use a product from Home Depot called Fiba tape. I have a couple videos showing how to transfer on this channel. Super fast and easy!

Sorry just reviewed this and got the tracing paper part.
thank you so much. why is the 2020 backwards?
I think the entire video is backwards.

If you are doing punch needle, the right side is on the bottom.

I just happened to come across your video. Very informative! I’m subscribing.
But what do you do if you can't draw??
Shelly you can. Do primitive style very simple and you can't imagine how perfect it'll look hooked
