    Great video. I have a Boss GT1000 core which I use as my main modeller, and an HX Stomp that I recently acquired just to use it in the stereo FX loop of the GT1K core. WhenI enable the FX loop in the the GT1K core, turn on a reverb in the HX stomp and send it to the core the mix/effect level in the output of the reverb is very less. The tone from the GT1K core does not reduce in volume, but the amount of reverb being sent to GT1K is so less that it might as well not be on. I have tried other effects such as a drive, fuzz but same results. The signal coming from the stomp is too less. I maxed the global master volume dial in front of the stomp, changed patch levels, mix and levels of the individual effects. I think I am doing something wrong in the send return or global settings. Also noticed that you can choose to accept either line level or instrument level signal from input. Can someone help me out with this please?

    Hello, I think it is the clearest video on youtube, thank you very much. I will also talk to you about something. I only use the Hx stomp as an amp and cabinet. I have a single pedal (source audio Collider) for reverb and delay on my pedalboard. It has 2 inputs and outputs. I want to use it in stereo like you did in the video. Accordingly, in which slot should I put the fx loop block? Do you have any advice on this subject or in general?

  • @onlyusernameleft2

    the TRS splitter cable I use isn't labelled like yours on the TS ends but they're color coded the same as RCA cables. TRS out polarity can reversed in global settings if the Stomp, the cable, and the outboard gear have a disagreement. You can use those cables to add effects to recorded tracks, or channels in a live setting. If you have a mixing board and there are jacks labelled "insert," those send and return signal using the TRS end. Check your mixer's manual for the insert polarity and connect to the appropriate input/output on your effect processor (and make sure it's set to send and receive line level signal). I've used a Boss GT-1 multieffects unit but the Stomp would work too; just keep in mind with the Stomp, the effects you're working with are mostly models of irl effects units designed for guitar and bass.

      Man, I was excited when he mentioned moving the fx loop around, but of course he didn’t get the same issue I get, i.e., my delays and reverbs sound VERY different when placed ANYWHERE after the amp block.
      WTH… as I’m writing this, he’s saying his shimmer is brighter after the amp, and it is! Mine is the opposite, i.e., delay repeats become lofi when placed after the amp block.
      Ugh. So annoying, since I have to use 2 amp blocks in order to keep stereo delay/reverb (fx loop) when placed before the amp block.
      Btw, to keep things consistent, I can even set the fx loop to mono and move that block before and after the amp block. Difference in tone when after is obvious and not good.

    • @SethDStanley
      @SethDStanley 2 роки тому

      @@gilguajardo7808 You have to run pedals at different settings after vs before an amp simply because the amp drastically shapes the tone and messes with the mix level of the fx as well. Have you tried running them after the amp and then adjusting the pedal settings a bunch? It's likely you're used to the sound of fx into an amp. Although I wonder if there's an actual problem with your Stomp. And are you running the global settings line out or instrument out for the fx loop?

    • @gilguajardo7808
      @gilguajardo7808 2 роки тому

      @@SethDStanley I’ve heard people mention the same, but it doesn’t make sense to me. Especially since I can put my reverb after the HX Stomp, and it sounds fine. If it sounds different than running the reverb before the Stomp, I didn’t notice the difference.
      So, why should it sound SO different (in a bad way) when I place the same reverb before or after the amp block from within the Stomp’s FX loop? It shouldn’t.
      Yes, everything is set to line level and unity gain.

    I'm setting up a build revolving the hx stomp. But if I only had to choose 1, would it be best to use external drives vs. External reverbs vs. External delays?
    Does the hx stomp have good drives, or is their delays and reverbs better?

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  2 роки тому +5

      I will say at the front...I don't think you can make a wrong decision. If you don't already have a 'must-have' drive, I'd say go with an external reverb. The HX Reverbs are getting way better but not as high end as some of these others ones. Te drives in the Stomp are great and so are the delays. But then again...the reverbs are great too....the differences you hear are going to only be for you....because no one will be able to tell in a live context...that's how good everything has gotten

It goes straight into the Stomps Input so it gets the clean signal tuned down. Only thing I noticed is that something is adding noise. No wrong answer here...It depends on where you want your wet effects. There are 3 simple options 1) run comp, drives, and AMP Box all before the HX Stomp and use HX stomp for only wet effects or whatever else you'd want after your amp 2) put the Amp Box in the FX loop so you can move it wherever you want 3) run everything into the AMP box, putting the am after the HX stomp
