- So we are back with some more Conqueror's Blade as we get stuck into testing the new season 7 units the shield maidens, berserkers & Sons Of Fenrir. Was great to be able to test the new units. I really enjoyed the berserkers they seem like the standout unit for me!

A T5 spear unit that was teased in the news article as "good against cavalry" is torn apart by a T4 cavalry... this game never ceases to amaze me
Cav counters shields that is how the Game was for years
The side with longer stick wins.
theyre 2 completely different forms of cavalry, and you can never expect a person standing on the ground to withold a horse, stabbing it or not, realistically, that bitch would fall on you or run you over before it dies.
They are super effective, but require that backup that IPG's would need as well to be beneficial against cav. As infantry should require combos of troops to be super effective and good.
The thing is, that the girls was in the circle formation. Maybe in the other formation they counter them.

It seems like with sons of fenrir you are supposed to jump over shield wall and rush ranged units behind it, notice how they follow forward before you call them to attack

They could also be made to work with other units they kept getting stunned jumping over some units but if there was another unit engaging the front would it increase the effectiveness of them jumping over and then breaking up the formation from the back?
Yeah, good luck if they meet aquibusher, Pavise, or Flame thrower
do they have I-frames while jumping? can they jump through a cav charge if timed right?
Bearded lady aside XD some really interesting units coming this season! Which vet lie would you recommend for the sons of Fenrir, I saw you chose the top one but the bottom one has a bleed so it could be good too.

you cover the new units alot better than the devs themselves, interesting that shield maiden is a T5 unit and it stops Liao but can't withhold the charge from armi lancer, and berserker seem like a unit worth unlocking
Thanks :) yeah it seems like the new T5 has good block against them but because it doesn't stun the cav it can't stop a charge :)
I think the sons of fenrir are more meant for when a shield wall is already getting attacked, so that they vault over and break the lines.

They need to give the sons of Fenrir 2 additional units, additional damage to the back and make it so only 10 of them jump over the shield line and the other 10 just charge head on. Then the unit would be infinitely more useful as it forces a 2 front attack.

They are best in flanking, I got 99 kills before they all died when I did a suicidal attack from behind the enemy. It was a surprise attack and they decimate range units pretty quickly.

@@mr.q337 namkhan is great, i got 60+ unit kills and 3 hero kills only with them in previous season, but in this season we have a rune that can cancel bleed effect and the new wolf dudes are too dangerous for any ranged units.

I second this evo. With all those doctrines applied, first thought was "well, I guess I won't really know what there like to try out". All purples too. Do you know how hard those are to get lol.

Im disappointed by the shield maidens. I was expecting more from them. Super bummed.
I think they will end up finding their own meta as a sort of hybrid but yeah initially not as powerful as expected
I've been using the Fenrirs a while, if you get a lone shieldwall unit they will destroy it rapidly with wolf charge followed by beast. Also great hero killers, swarm lone heroes, even pairs stand no chance if not heavy armour.

Berzerker looks nice but I feel like it will end up like shilidars where they die before they can kill their cost due to heros spamming cc.
In frenzy they have cc immunity

the ONLY logical rule of conqueror's blade is: the units of the same season will be ranked by power and their stars respectively, a 4 star unit will not win one out of 5 of the same season. the conqueror company finally gave up trying to deceive the crowd with the history of historical reality, now we have quadruped men who think they are wolves hahaha
Evo can you do an expanded video breakdown of Twars? Some questions I have as a new officer in a young house:
How should we plan our events and get enough members to attack and defend consistently?
Should members in these TW groups bring unit specific war bands or should each person just bring a mix of ranged cav and infantry?
How do you get people to consistently attack the same locations? We had a lot of issues with this the other night.
you should've activated the 2nd and 3rd skill on T3 before attacking / charge to get them some buff.
2nd skill for attack buff and 3rd skill for movement speed buff+ defence buff+ making range hard to hit them IIRC

Hey quick question..if I have epic javelin doctrine 1 and 2, can I equip them both or can I only have 1 epic javelin doctrine equipped at a time and must choose
Would have liked to have seen what the skills are for the 3rd unit besides trying to jump over stuff.
Hey Evo! - Great video, was very informative for me, I'm really looking forward to this New Season, just read the patch notes couple of minutes ago, and I'm pretty happy to see the infantry and ranged units getting buffed, however I'm sad the spear getting some nerfs. Do you consider to change back to Poleaxe since it getting buffed?
Yeah just been having a look over the patchnotes myself, don't think i'll go back to poleaxe even though it does look like a very effective class at the moment!
Why don’t they nerf DB or maybe a tiny one for Glaive?

I doubt it would. They might just get run over, they jump way too late before the cav just runs them over.

Yeah I think they just won't work against cav particarly well, will give it a go when it goes live tomorrow though :)

could you try to test berserkers against stalwarts at some point please? Imo thatd be the most interesting match up. Im also keen to see how they do against liaos
What i can see so far. IT seems the creativity went to the looks of the units than the actual skills.
Maybe in part but quite liking the berserker rage bar mechanics, kind of cool

Did you test Devastation against the shield maidens? Realistically devastation is the main ability, so I'm not sure why you only tested the charge-into-bludgeon.
That was with devestation I believe (just me calling it bludgeon because i'm an idiot)
So disappointed I expected the shield miaden to have a cover commander like spear sergeants with their spears and a cover commander like man at arms/prefecture guards with swords turns out the last thing didnt happen and that was the thing I was looking forward to the most -.-
They do get a cover commander with their spears but not with the swords, they act more like a hybrid stalwarts/ paladin combo I think
I just came back to conqueror’s blade so do you think I should unlock the stalwarts or paladins first?
since they are goin the more fantasy-ish route (no dane axes but furry jumpy bois, srsly) they could have added a bear mount attire
and yeah, pretty disappointed in shieldmaidens, they seem more of a support than a tank unit but that's way too expensive for a support

Beserkers beat braced stalwarts one on one with 0 unit loses and come out with full health, I saw it on another content creators channel, I think they should have been the t5 unit...

LOL. All units suck. Hope they fix them and buff before tomorrow. The fenrir jump is so bad I have no words. Really been looking forward to this but the units needs tweak.
The fenrir seem pretty poor I agree but certainly don't think the berserkers need buffing anymore XD

If the test server didn't have the balance changes of season 7 yet, Shield Maidens might be a lot better against stalwarts in actual play, since stalwarts no longer block their sides, and all sword and shield units got a 60% block break buff on the charge.
hmm interesting thought, i'd have thought the balance changes would have already been applied to testing server but im not 100% sure

Easiest way to check if the test server has the balance would be to look at stalwart speed on the test server, since it was nerfed from 5.2 to 4.7 in the balance patch as well.
Entire community- man cav are getting out of hand maybe we should have another way to help counter them.

Just think of the sons of Fenris, i think its not realy a 1v1 unit,
you rush with your team, and the shield guys in front and fights, the wolves sneak in and jump over and get managed to go behind and clear it out, so i think if you use the unit smart in the right situation it can be a good unit :D
I think your right, i'm just worried how many situations it'll be useable in and how in practise it works out with a lot of units moving about etc hopefully they can be useful though :)

evo how would i put a sugetion for conquerers blade for example the trainig battles should have different diffulties for different tiers

I wasn't expecting much from shield maidens, when you have a jack of all trades unit (swords and spears), it's not going to compare to units that excel in either category (stalwarts and paladins). Only reason shield maidens would be better is if you could bring into battle multiple times after they died so they had more chances to fufil multiple roles.
What doctrines did you have on them?
those berserkers looks FUCKING INSANE. i love the azaps because of their flexibility and their instant attack in "on watch" and i will hands down add the berserkers over the imp pikes i have. imp pikes are really good but not all that fun to use
Yeah the berserkers are the ones i'm most looking forward to and as you say a really fun unit to play :D

I love the new meta for the season 7 already: Cav now is countered so well by any polearm unit ( even blue halberdiers ), Maidens and Paladins charge will destroy any braced units( including braced Stalwarts and Fortebraccio), Shieldmaidens now stop any charging unit ( except Iron reapers which again is very interesting), Berserkers tear apparat any shield formation and in combo with any shield unit they will be devastating ( because Berserkers really dont have a block) and the Wolf Guys will hunt all the dps: they can beat any ranged unit even the volley fire of the Imperial Arq. So this will be very interesting
so 1 v 1 .. .shieldmaidens are ....meh..... BUT in bigger fights with more units ... theyre EXCELLENT to deal with most units
beserkers .... sounds fun to see them in big battles ;) eating through low lvl units ;) but again ...a stand alone ubnit can be taken down... .but in bigger groups they will perform excellent
favoured sons ... it would be funny to see 8v8 in a ig brawl ... and suddenly seee 3 units just over static battle line .. .and again a unit that will better perfom in big brawls
I'm not sure what you were thinking but testing a T3 Sons of Fenrir unit against T5 Shieldmaidens and a braced pike formation isn't exactly helpful. They are used to jump over shield walls to attack backline ranged units, used to flank, used to make the shields turn around and expose their back to your teammates. I'm sorry but this just wasn't a good test.
My house leader (a guy who's been playing and testing units since S1) did extensive testing on his test server with Shield Maidens-- they're terrible, especially for their cost. The lose in almost every 1v1 vs meta infantry, and lost to all T4 charging Cav even when being macro'd like crazy.
Son of fenror seems to be effective and an annoyance. I feel like they would become a bigger threat which would change the tide of the battles extremely whether it's big or small battles because if they can jump over and go straight to get as much archers kills as they possibly can and if survived, they could be a good unit to attack the enemy shield from behind which would cause the enemy to have 2 frontal battle and would be extremely useful and a pain in the butt towards the enemy but our greatest source for 2 frontal attack instead of just one
I think in theory they could be good i'm just not fully convinved about how well it will work in practise! but still looking forwards to trying them out tomorrow :D
I feel like berserkers should be the T5 and shieldmaidens T4.5
Also, poor T3 guys...they'll probably lose to pretty much any other T3 infantry units and I doubt they'll be able to do any damage to ranged units in the backline with their poor defensive stats.
14:23 and there we see for what sons of fenrir are good! Jumping above wall and make it turn? This way other units can attack the wall which is no more watching on good side? If it really works, this unit will be very useful!
I suppose it has some element of use in that occasion yes but i'd say in reality thats quite a rare situation
in the same way sons of fenrir need backup to attack shieldwall that turned around, the shieldwall can just have pikes or ranged units that destroy these rats before they even get to the shieldwall. And that's considering cav meta would disappear which obviously completely counters sons of fenrir. They have no armor, they don't deal crazy damage like berserkers. Spear segeants vs these sons barely lose a model.
@@EvoLozGaming Why ? In siege or TW you're, at least most of the time, not alone to do a charge or a push, right ? So sons of fenrir will be very helpful with other teammates pushing with you. And even in solo, imagine the wall in front of you is now facing you with its back because it is busy with your sons of fenrir. You "just have to" start hitting them on the back. Honestly I think this unit might have a very good potential for push and wall breaking move. But more difficult alone, I'm agree with you. This unit looks like a unit to do discord in ennemy ranks to allow allies to easily break defenses and push.

@@nicolashug7178 I mean yeah but the fact you take this unit instead of some beefy boys who would probably still do more damage frontally than sons of fenrir deal from the back. If only they had +300 armor at least they could be decent distraction, but as they stand they die in seconds to any DPS meta units I can name.
If they had any defensive capability I could understand that mediocre damage, but if they get 200 armor, they need to shred or stun or knockdown units, but they don't do any of that so realistically I would rather take extra unit of namkhans for the DPS than these rats. They just die too easily and their whole gimmick is jumping into the middle of enemy team so... I don't understand how they were intended to be played. Maybe flanking and murdering ranged units? But we already have cav for that which is much faster and can actually do what cav does and rip everything else into pieces, not JUST ranged units.

You have de luck tester before the another
The Sons of Fienir? Wolf bois seem to be kind of a support unit that goes in the heat of battle. They're like dual blades, kill unsuspecting enemies, or use the confusion of battle to strike from behind. There's also a quest the emphasizes that when it asks you to hit people from behind. You can use shields to draw attention to the enemy then support them by jumping behind them and chopping them up. If the devs wanted this to be a standalone unit, they would've out in more models in the unit, but instead there are only 18. I think these are supposed to be paired with another unit because they can save that other unit because the enemy's back will be towards either one. The units in this season seem to be a bit more tactical and teamwork based rather than being able to do damage on your own. I'm not saying the others aren't like that, but I think these units benifit more from teamwork and planning than other units would usually. Especially with the berserker because there are only 8 models, and throwing them into a random fight would kill them instantly despite the life steal. I think the shieldmaidens also are very team based because of the buffs they can give and with the shield wall.
I can see bezerkers as game changers when it comes to big clashes, micro them into a flanking position and set them loose. The Sons seem more of a specialist unit, something that will take creative thinking and maneuvering to utilize their unique ability(s). I'm unsure of shieldmaidens at first glance, I get the feeling the cost might out weigh the utility, as with most T5 infantry, you might see one or two every other game, but they either don't last long or contribute as much as they should.
How do you do these "test" custom games ? I'd love to do private matches with my friends

So from what i see i was pretty spot on with my predictions. Shieldmaidens will be decent but definitely not a cav counter, i do however love that they are more skill based than just pressing 1 key.
Berserkers are another instance of powercreep, yeah they have counters but rather than nerfing stalwarts they seem to punish all shield walls. As for their damage they seem like super condos.
The sons of fenrir still seem the most interesting, you struggled because you were in 1v1s but i imagine a chokepoint that has allies holding enemies where you can jump over them to flank them. Although they were supposed to be stealthy or something and i don't think we saw what the other abilities did in this vid.

What's a good sword unit to unlock? I don't have a huge amount of free time so kinda just get the best units to be able to play. With my current comp I'd prefer them to be 3 stars. Unless there's an op unit worth grinding for
Top line or bottem line would be better? Not sure how they'd be treated as regular shield wall or sword and board
was testing out both today on stream ended up slightly prefering the top line
@@EvoLozGaming Aye, I went with the top line myself. Felt it was beneficial with their guard formation. Also loaded them with more defensive doctrines. They are pretty beefy in that formation but lack any good range attack from halberds and such.
So as I feared the new top tier infantry is trash against cavalry so whole thing about being "especially good against cavalry" is little more than fluff flavor text. The other 2 units really no surprises there beyond the berserker health pool.
i've been getting into the game lately and can anyone explain something to me. i'm playing with the double daggers load out and i'm planning on buying the battle pass. i just wanted to know if the character attires (and the purchased battle pass) are shared across all characters and loadouts or if they're exclusive to the character you purchased the battle pass with

in the trailer it showed the berserkers cutting down braces stalwarts so u should've tested that
Evo, I think sons of fenrir would work better as a support unit. If your ally is engaging shield units you could then send your unit to jump over them in flank. I'm not able to test this, but hopefully you can get one more person with you to try this out to see if it works out or not. If you do test it out and it works out, or a variation of this tactic works out, it would be great to see you make a video about it.

this isn't the live server this is the testing server so all units start max
The Berserkers looks interesting, but nothing changed, t5 cavalry is op and the new *good against cavalry* would not stop them.
I think these will be my favourite units (looks wise)
Make a comparision with cover commander spear sergeants vs maidens.
You mentioned bludgeon on Liao's does not beat shield maidens. Did you get to test devastation against them?

So the sons of Fenrir against the shield maidens and any other unit that auto turn could actually be used strategically to turn a units backs so they can be shot to pieces... the at the cost of the SoF.
