I would consider a closed door to be off since it isn't being used. The purpose of doors after all is to be passed through, otherwise you just have a wall.
I assume the purpose of the question is as an exercise to test how a person thinks outside the box. The question itself (or rather the potential answers) is meaningless (as a door is neither on nor off). You could ask any question in this manner ie. Is the floor left or right, is the colour red big or small etc. where you just insert a question and then offer two answers that are not applicable.
@Dragon_Fyre I felt the question was more about how we perceive the concept of something being on/off. Yes it only applies to electronics, but language is ever evolving and meaning can be imposed on things. To a synesthesiac the question of red being big or small might make perfect sense.
@@jaakkokosola5948 I think most people would interpret on/off much the same (active/inactive, positive/negative etc.). The difference in responses tends to come from how people perceive the purpose of a door rather than how they perceive on/off ie. Is a door to keep you out, or to let you in (sort of a re-phrasing of the question about whether a glass is half empty or half full without the implied negative context).
@@andybagheera4501 It’s not a doorway unless there is a door and a door is not a barrier to anything on its own. When people refer to a door, they are typically referring to all the parts. The frame, door, hinges etc. It is implied. They function together. What parts can you remove from a car where it is no longer a car ?
I like the maps with more bonuses available. The Europe map is so good for meta settings because of all the different bonuses and near infinite ways that the blizzards can chunk up the board.
Spoiler Pete, at 5:06 you ask if Galwyddel and Cumbraland touch before promptly determining they don't. Then the last move of the game is made from Cumbraland to Galwyddel. So I guess that answers the question for you lol
Pete, I just started playing with pc. Now I can card block players and win games by using the tips learned from your games. I just don't have enough speed yet. If you mention how to click to get faster. Thanks. As always, I enjoy watching your games. ❤
I just had an idea, a single territory that gives you an extra troop. I was thinking japan in the classic map would be a good test for this since basically nobody takes asia. Also because Japan is out of the way. It gives the odd man out somewhere to chill. Idk. The reason i was thinking of a single territory that gives an extra troop was for the sake of this map. You could say it would give an unfair advantage, but it depends where you put the territory. On that point, plus 1 generation, japan could be used as fuel to take North America. Also, you could make it so that the territory is always covered by a pseudo blizzard at ths start so it has to be taken; 2 or 3 troops of a non player non bot, pure neutral troops. Maybe it adds 1 a turn, or every other turn until taken.
“Not trying to offend anyone”…. 😂Thanks for the preface I appreciate it but also am very aware of the absurdity of you having to do that. It’s more of a ‘melting pot’ these days as a paternal Irish catholic Scot with most of my mothers’ side being Scottish or Welsh Protestant it’s just second nature to have people from across the pond struggle to understand the nuances. Pete forever being the most clever dude on UA-cam 🙏
Fyi: Northern Ireland is part of the UK. Southern Ireland, which is in fact the much larger part, is not. Great Britain is England, Scotland and Wales only. I know its totally weird right.
Its the Republic of Ireland, not Southern Ireland. In fact, a small part of ROI is actually more north than the entire NI You are correct about GB only being the 3 countries though, hence why they compete at the Olympics as GB & NI
I don't think this Britain map is ever going to be popular. Feels too small. Not sure if you could ever have one as spread/detailed as Europe Advanced as the North to South nature of the geography doesn't help. Europe feels OK as it has a good East to West spread too but considering the aspect ratio of computer monitors it might not work for UK. Conwy Castle type potential for a non-consecutive bonus along the lines of 'The Islands' - Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Anglesey, Syke, Hebredes, Orkneys, Stelands, Lundy, Lindesfarne, Isle of Scilly and Arran islands all around could even have multiple instances of that. There are only three territories in the South West but you could easily convert that to 6 or 7 - West Cornwall, Cornwall, North Devon, Exmoor, South Hams, Dartmoor, Somerset for Example. I think there is scope for a 100+ territory maps
When i first started watching your videos, i thought to myself, why does Pete called so many players a dumbass and idiot? Then i played risk on steam for a bit, and now i get it. some truly dumb players in this game lmao.
I instantly think that Britain would work much better with more territories and smaller bonuses at a county rather than country level
As in, for example if all the counties in East Anglia would be one bonus? Mercia, Northumbria etc
Yeah something along those lines.
Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk to make up East Anglia.
Scarborough York Leeds Sheffield for Yorkshire I guess
Pete: "This looks like an intractable stalemate."
Me looking at how much time is left: 🤨
So those territories DO CONNECT! (Your last dice roll)

Oh Britannia!!! Loved the video Pete! Thanks for being awesome 🎉
LOL, the door question has three answers: 1. On on close, 2. Off on close, and 3. On on powered automatic doors when powered on or turned on :D

My twitch average is around 200 concurrent these days.
I have no doubt that UA-cam would be much higher
