This one was heavy on frame-data. Playing against an expert Ibuki can feel hopeless some rounds, so I felt there were things to explore in her numbers that would explain her advantages. Finding the numbers from Higa's favorite moves drove the video. And to reiterate, the devil is in the details when it comes to playing low and mid tier characters at a playable level. Keep digging for your characters, make them as strong as possible. -Frankie
>Playing against an expert Ibuki can feel hopeless some rounds Agree 100%. Kalisto (French master) visited us in Ireland for a few months. He taught us the meaning of pain! He also plays Makoto & Ken, but Ibuki is his true main.
Thank you SO much, Frankie, for being one of the nicest pro players to play against in person and encouraging me to get better. I miss the old FFA days but I’m glad to see a lot of 3S vets still play in the U.S. and Japan 😎
@@fp45 Kuroda would be hard to break down, a lot of what he does comes from a very deep understanding of the game and it's mechanics. It would be interesting to break down his movement and neutral specifically though, he's like the polar opposite of deshiken
During his dvd series he played the exact same way with alot of characters. Main theory was. Never getting into mix ups and keep you within a box/ covered all situations at various ranges. I don't know about after that and don't know what tools he used. But he usually had the answer for every situation.
Idk if you'll see this but I just want you to know these are my favorite videos on UA-cam. I come back to them what feels like every year and I appreciate them so much
I've never played 3rd Strike, but I must have watched all of these by now. Partially because the metagame of 3S interests me, partially because there simply isn't really another fighting game channel that puts out videos with this quality of analysis and research. Amazing job as always!
I recently got into 3rd strike and chose Ibuki as my main. Ive been watching this and so far its opening my eyes to sooo much! Im excited to learn 3rd strike and while its going to be a long and tough journey, ik itll be a fun one. Thanks for these.
We have Yet to see a Oro player get broken down to details, not that i know of anyone good in particular but it would be fun to see what to do with him, another suggestion would be K.O.s Yang
Dirty Music and Thanatos are the best Oros I know of in Japan. I forget who played him in the U.S. You can look up old FFA (Family Fun Arcade) matches and tournies from So. Cali to find a specific Oro player; especially an SA2 player. I preferred SA3 coz it’s easier to use though maybe not as good as SA2 unblockable setups 😝
Fantastic, I welcome each and every video you fine-craft as if it were a Xmas present. You are wonderful ! Although I'm no Ibuki player, if you want to analyse more of Higa's Ibuki, then go ahead !
@@Protectobot 3rd strike has a lot of new people actually. IMO people will be playing this game for many many more years its the best one, and arguably one of the deepest sf games
Rest of the characters wishlist: Yakkun (YU) / RX (UR) / Thanatos (OR) / MOV (CH) / Orona (EL) / Genki (AL) / Yamazaki (TW) / KO (YA) Also different players for certain characters would be cool as well: Kuni, SHO, Hayao, Mimora, Boss...
Ibuki has so many throws setups coz her throw is fast and leaves her w/ great oki. Her strengths are her TON of offensive options, decent defensive capabilities w/ her air kunai, and TONS of special attacks and abilities. Her mixups and setups make her hard to block, parry or punish. Her moves have weird properties that make her unique and slippery.
Awesome as always, Frankie! Thanks so much for putting the work in. Is the "ahh!" commentary moment that you highlighted Nuki? It's quiet so I can't tell for sure but it is very "on brand" for him! hahaha
He already did, check out Dr. Drophammer via UA-cam search or just log into Fightcade and watch Mr. FUBUFATZ dominate dat ass when he parried jab launcher into Aegis and Hadou'ed his ass twice in one round with Sean.
Thank you man! Please bring more frame data stuff like that and a second video of higa would be great! I play hugo a lot so I know what you say! What you do is so interesting! thanks again
i'm suggesting RX's Urien, Genki's Alex, and KOs Yang for potential future vids.... seeing an Oro might be good too thanks for creating this dope content for the 3s community
Can we get a series on weaknesses of each character? Ibuki for example I feel is very much a knowledge check character and tbh there aren't many around to play against.
Excellent work. Pretty useful even if I don't use Ibuki. I would appreciate if you could do some work over Thanatos' Oro (SA II if it isn't too much asking).
I'd definitely be interested in seeing a Twelve video. I've been trying him out on the 30th Anniversary Collection for a while now. And though he has several weaknesses and is difficult to play, he's not entirely useless. For example, his EX NDL works well as an anti dive kick/crossup tool. His XNDL gives him upper body invincibility and acts as a perfect counter to projectile Super Arts like Denjin Ryu, SA1 Akuma, SA1 Sean, and goes through Aegis Reflector. Just give him a chance and do a little experimenting.
XNDL works great as an antiair too. Against crossup attempts, it's usually safer to just crawl under and throw. I think Yama is probably the best twelve out there, and he has some nice strategies allowing him to transcend the cruel tier list in a fashion that is most impressive. He would be a good candidate for one of these deconstructed videos
Thanks, I had been waiting for this one. Any chance of a breakdown of Yang like this in the future? And as always, great work and thank you for what you do.
@@Nativefall she has really amazing frame-data but it gets offset by her health. She was S tier in 2nd Impact, so this must've been Capcom's way to nerf her.
Anyone know how to deal with Ibuki’s Ex DP? It seems hard to punish due to the air recovery and her ability to press air normal / target combo shortly after
And definitely interested in a follow up vid.
For sure

I couldn't ask this on the previous video but what are your thoughts on pinoab7 necro?
Can we get a Deshiken vs Kokujin breakdown ?
I would watch 24 hours of ibuki content if you made it, btw
Do a follow up pls
Man, I don't even play Third Strike, why have I watched all of these? Damn good work.
Thanks so much, what game do you play?

Kuroda, Hayao and Mimora would be some pretty iconic players to do in the future
kuroda would need like a half an hour at least to cover all the content of the entire cast, but would be hyped as shit

Mimora's playstyle is so unique that it deserves a video on Feetwork101.

If you’re tech-savvy, you can play online w/ Fightcade. Heck: some ppl say PS4 is decent for competition.
Thank you for this one. It was quite informative and showed how immaculate Higa’s play can be.
