There are seeds inside female pinecones called pine nuts, and they are edible! You see them as an ingredient in pesto most of the time! Sometimes chefs use other nuts, but I’m pretty sure pine nuts are the most typical.
Yup they're scales! Lots of seeds have "scales" or bristles, which help with identification! (Bristles are hairy, scales are spiky or well, scale-like! haha) There are birds that peel apart the scales of the pinecones to eat the seeds inside. When pinecones release seeds the scales open - but there are birds who pry them apart to get to them before they're released. :)
If you had done the "magic" part in yellow or orange, it could have been like the pumpkin guts floating out! I think that would have been cool. But then you would have to use some of the colors you don't like, wamp wamp.
I just wanted to say that I really love your channel. Your personality is so pure and hilarious at the same time. Your art style is absolutely adorable, even if what you're drawing is something like a bloody werewolf. I know that all sounded really cheesy and random, but I mean it all! Can't want for you to get big!
I really like how you always come up with some sort of a backstory for these characters!! Also I'm so glad you didn't forget to color in that little piece of the pants...Good job as always!!
That’s the cutest which/wizard ever! Very creative! Also, I personally like the blue magic. It adds a lot more color and motion to the painting, and fills the space more.
I've been watching this series for 59 episodes and just realized after you said it that the reason I'm probably so into your art is because the style is similar to Over the Garden Wall. I definitely think your witch is different enough from Wirt that I definitely wouldn't mistake the two, so you're safe!
_The wizards lips is reminds me of how they used to portray black people back in the early 90's......._ *_You know with the creepy giant and white lips......._*
I took a break from drawing and watched a lot of your videos - then I drew again and I realized how much your art style rubbed off on me Thanks for the video! I love your art!
I know I’m late again (I’m binging your prompt videos) buuuut… I REALLY like the swirly blue ‘magic’ you added! It kinda looked a bit like a swan or something and it made me think that the boy is calling on the spirits of birds to help him. Or maybe that’s where his magical power comes from? Anyhoo I loved it! 🎨💜
So, my speed was on .75 and I was like "She sounds super tired or high?" And then it took me until like half of the video to realize that the speed was wrong so lmao
Pine cone fact number 108, pine nuts are taken from pine cones and are actually quite difficult to get because it has to be picked and not taken from a fallen one...that’s why pine nuts are so expensive....ehem. Loved the illustration !
My family makes bird feeders with pine cones, peanut butter, bird seed, and pipe cleaners. It’s really a cheap alternative. You put the pipe cleaner at the top of the pine cone, smother it with a LOT of peanut butter, and sprinkle the seeds onto the peanut butter.
I'm excited! I'm sick at home today and the last time I was sick I bingewatched all your prompt videos until 40 ish and then I kept up with them every week!
ahhhh yes, i too have an aversion to orange. so whenever i want to use it in my art i’ll just blend an orange pigment with an ochre or a muted red. which typically works out really well!
when i was little (around 5) i broke open pine cones and ate the "nuts" that were inside. Delicious. the pine cones were in my grandma's front yard she has a huge tree. if the squirrels didn't get them out i would eat them instead. My grams also had a jar. aww memories!
I agreed with what you said about the magic trail until it was drawn, I actually really like the magic trail being there! I thought it was cool :) Good job Casey!
Oof. Quick facts: A male pinecone stays in the trees and has pollen, which is blown away by the wind into the female pinecones. The female pinecones have seeds which are blown away by the wind as well but also has pollen to plant them! (I learned this a month or so ago)
About the whole what to call a male witch thing; while pop culture has made wizard and warlock the term for a male witch, witch is considered a gender neutral term by people who actually practice witchcraft. A warlock actually is a witch that betrays their coven.
pinecones uses the scales/leafes so hold the seeds. until they are ready to release it. some only open at set tempetures. so maybe his jar is full of pinecone seeds ^^
I have a universum that is made of only witches BUT there are 3 groups: illusionists, rootworkers and fantasy witches. It's a pretty big universe and every group has their stereotypes and characteristics that are unique to them. Example: illusionists don't have spiritual or typically "magical" characteristics BUT they are pretty good with manipulating people and are usually stronger (in physical and psychological way). Rootworkers can see future, contact spirits, they have some pretty good memory and knowlage but their lives are usually shorter. I don't know, this is just an idea that I've been working for months now. I like the idea that group of people is so different but can learn from other groups. I find it very fascinating and I want it to be more "popular"... If you want Casey you can "reuse" some of it. I already have the main story for it but I want to know what others think
Thank you for posting this video because I have pnemounia and I've been puking all day and I hope everyone who sees this is having a better day than me but thanks for posting this video and putting me in a good mood. Sincerely. ~ Potato Smashed
Pine cone fact: When there is a certain amount of heat near a tree its pinecones explode and the scales scatter about. When animals flee from the fire they also may stamp them into the ground. This is the tree's way of spreading it's seeds in case of a forest fire, then they can just regrow once more after the destruction.
How do you draw so good??! I want to make my own style but I cant really make one, I like yours because its very abstract. Can you give any tips to make a style??
(I know you didnt ask me, but I hope this helps you) Over the years of drawing, making a style isn't something you create, but something you develop, like a hidden egg of design that you have to nourish until it grows! Just keep on practicing and developing, and after a while you'll find something you love! Experimentation often helps, and maybe try to combine your favorite ways to draw something, (hands, body, face, etc.,) and you might find an awesome combo that can become your style! This is just my opinion, so take this with any way you'd like. I wish you the best of luck!
I have a cadmium orange in my watercolour palette and it's repulsive. It's not even fun to mix! Love the music to this vid. ❤ Puts me in my happy place.
Some witches use pine cones and pumpkins to decorate their alters for Mabon but I dunno how that information will benefit you because this drawing is already done lmao
Chu inspire me i like how you draw somethings like legs, arms, etc, It's cute! I'm an artist to and i love watching people do there arts it helps me learn. {And I do get jealous}
Kasey! Have you never eaten pine nuts?? They are delicious! New cooking tip: roast pine nuts (no oil or anything, just a pan) and put them in your salad. Or literally in any other meal :P
The first thing I thought of was one of those pine cone bird feeders that are like covered in peanut butter and then rolled in assorted seeds. I feel like that could have been a cool prompt idea
I think the magic was needed ... prob wouldn’t have guessed he was a wizard without it. I guess we have become accustomed to seeing magic look like that.
There are seeds inside female pinecones called pine nuts, and they are edible! You see them as an ingredient in pesto most of the time! Sometimes chefs use other nuts, but I’m pretty sure pine nuts are the most typical.
Oh wow, I never knew!
ArtWithEm they are sooo good
Litle werewolf I know, right? When I was younger my mom would buy a bag and we’d toast a little bit at a time on the stove as a snack!
ArtWithEm SAME! Butt my dad would toast them 😋
Litle werewolf butt

Erica Michelle wait what do the seeds inside look like?
They're sort of oval and brown? I would google it if you want a legit picture :)
If you had done the "magic" part in yellow or orange, it could have been like the pumpkin guts floating out! I think that would have been cool. But then you would have to use some of the colors you don't like, wamp wamp.
buriedberry huh
I love your profile picture ♡
buriedberry the tenth type of cereal killer, lolol. I love psychology too.
I love your picture. Do you have a bunny?

I just wanted to say that I really love your channel. Your personality is so pure and hilarious at the same time. Your art style is absolutely adorable, even if what you're drawing is something like a bloody werewolf.

Tobias Telhrum what do you mean she’s already big!
I really like how you always come up with some sort of a backstory for these characters!! Also I'm so glad you didn't forget to color in that little piece of the pants...Good job as always!!

Thanks for the video! I love your art!
I love this prompt so much! I'm totally getting 'over the garden wall' vibes, and I love that so much
I know I’m late again (I’m binging your prompt videos) buuuut… I REALLY like the swirly blue ‘magic’ you added! IKR
"Only 10 more until nevermind" That line had me dead XD
So, my speed was on .75 and I was like
"She sounds super tired or high?" And then it took me until like half of the video to realize that the speed was wrong so lmao

You can plant the cones and make more cones *^*
Under tail Fan that, is predictably known
Over the garden wall is my FAVORITE movie ever!!! That's probably why I love your style so much! Love you Kasey!
Kasey: Not many wizards and reasons why
Me: All of that’s in Harry Potter
SeE MOM,UA-cam IS EDUCATIONAL TOO! I just learned a whole lot about pinecones >:D
Today my great grandmother died and seeing you just be so cheery about everything really cheered me up
Pine cone fact number 108, pine nuts are taken from pine cones and are actually quite difficult to get because it has to be picked and not taken from a fallen one...that’s why pine nuts are so expensive....ehem. Loved the illustration !
Wow... for some reason I never made the connection with pine nuts, hahaha.
Secret unlocked: Pinecone scales!
I really admire how Kasey keeps her workspace neat and tidy. Whenever I paint, it looks like a bombshell hit my desk 😂
I like the “magic”. It adds excitement.
Aside from enjoying your art, I also really enjoy your backstories for your characters or the backstory ideas behind the scenes you draw.
I'm excited! I'm sick at home today and the last time I was sick I bingewatched all your prompt videos until 40 ish and then I kept up with them every week!
That face is so creepy
ahhhh yes, i too have an aversion to orange. so whenever i want to use it in my art i’ll just blend an orange pigment with an ochre or a muted red. which typically works out really well!
I'm a biologist and listening to you talk about pine cone genders triggered me and made me remember my plant taxonomy classes 😤😤
This is probably my favorite drawing you have ever done!!
I've never clicked a notifiaction so fast! Another amazing video from an amazing UA-camr/artist
when i was little (around 5) i broke open pine cones and ate the "nuts" that were inside. Delicious. the pine cones were in my grandma's front yard she has a huge tree. if the squirrels didn't get them out i would eat them instead. My grams also had a jar. aww memories!
Heck yeah over the garden wall! Overjoyed when my favorite youtuber knows about my favorite obscure show
I love the fact that you always come up with a story for each of you paintings. Can't wait to see and hear what comes next. 🤓❤🤓❤🤓
I like that you give your characters context. That's important.
You are my favorite artist EVER!!!
You are amazing at it and a huge inspiration to me.Thank you for getting me in to the best thing ever...ART!!
I agreed with what you said about the magic trail until it was drawn, I actually really like the magic trail being there! I thought it was cool :) Good job Casey!
You do some really cool stuff with these prompts. Like, pumpkin seeds and pinecones and you got, like, a magic ingredient boy. 10/10
I loved Over The Garden Wall it was the best show!!! Never missed a day without watching it!
Honestly love watching these videos so much. I’m thinking of getting my own 500 prompt book because it looks so fun to draw in!

There are also pine kernels, which are the edible part inside the pine cones and the actual seeds.
I love you Casey! And I like the illustration he's like a witch+elf boy!

" In 10 Episodes It'll be OHHHHH never mind XD this is my favourite episode of 2018 so far!
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It has personality and tells a cool story
her art style is everything
I think this illustrationnwas really cute. I actually like the way you did the "magic "

pinecones uses the scales/leafes so hold the seeds.
until they are ready to release it. some only open at set tempetures.
so maybe his jar is full of pinecone seeds ^^
“Only ten more til- never mind” 😂 we were all thinking it too
Really loving the detail in the cape!

This looks like link from Zelda, but he is a wizard! 🤩
I cosplayed as wirt for comic con recently and i kept on accidentally hitting people with my giant pointy hat.

The glowy bit looks great!
He looks a lot like Wirt from Over the Garden Wall.
Nobody else noticed?
Frosty Wind OMG yessssssss he does i dont know why people dont see that
4:29
I noticed too
YEAH AS SOON I SAW IT!
Over the Garden Wall looks adorable!😍❤️
Omg I waited so I can watch it cause I'm at school, but I couldn't do it anymore, such a great one❤️❤️
omg i love your pfp and username, ARMY ayy
I have spring break so no schoooolll! :DDDD
I have a cadmium orange in my watercolour palette and it's repulsive. It's not even fun to mix! Love the music to this vid. ❤ Puts me in my happy place.
But Over The Garden Wall is so good! If the series was still going, he could be Wirt's evil doppelganger that maybe works for the Beast
Some witches use pine cones and pumpkins to decorate their alters for Mabon but I dunno how that information will benefit you because this drawing is already done lmao
I don't know, I think the flowing, blue magic adds cool movement to the drawing!
“Only ten more until-nevermind” took me a minute
'Prompt -69- 59! Only 10 more until... ah nevermind.' 😂😂Oh Kasey.
aha! i just realized why you said 'ten more until- never mind'
because after 10 prompts from 59 it will be 69! lol
"Only ten more until- nevermind" KASEY YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE A PURE BEAN
But still.... NiCe
Love you Kasey, you're awesome!
Hugs from Brazil
Blep blep blep it’s really cool drawing :) I love your watercolour skills
With the blue stuff there, one could assume that it was the boys aura, helping the seeds along.
Chu inspire me i like how you draw somethings like legs, arms, etc, It's cute! I'm an artist to and i love watching people do there arts it helps me learn. {And I do get jealous}

“10 more until... nvm”. Omfg 😂😂
I should be studying for my math test that is on friday.. but here I am watching Kaseys prompts instead.
(5:25) cool color theory tip: if a color is too bright/saturated, add a little bit of the complementary color.
I’ve come to burgle your turts... and your pinecone scales 😂
Thank you for putting my painting in the top scroll!
This looks really cool Kasey!
Pinecones are how trees reproduce, that’s why there’s male and female ones
