Exact same thought I have when people get upset about others up cycling thrifts quilts. Like yes, it's a lot of work and love that goes into them but their family didn't want them and if you see a vision for it that you'll use then go for it! Idk why people have to be so mad about it
Plus the snowy one had 83 on the signature... so maybe it from 1983? I think it's so exciting that you take a 40-year-old art piece and refresh it and give it new life.
How about you keep it but dont destroy it ? hmmm its almost like ur talking from the perspective of a non artist or art lover? cause noone would say this who does art or loves vintage art.
No, out of dignity of the original artist and the buyer “them” should not just grab someone else’s creation and clam it as your own work, it’s called “bastardize art” and it’s illegal, if the original artist sees this video they can legally sue for vandalism of original artwork and damages, if they want there artwork for personal tampering then they can paint it themselves as a copy, or do a photo-scan
@thimug1150 These are DEEPLY mediocre Bob Ross copies that were legally sold. As soon as an original artwork is sold, it becomes the legal property of the buyer who can subsequently do whatever they want with it. Even if these random afternoon time waster projects were worth the kind of reverence you're demanding, there is no legal or moral obligation for it
As someone who used to work at Goodwill I encourage everyone to do this! The way it works is that if something doesn't sell in a specific amount of time, it gets thrown out. This keeps these art pieces out of a landfill and gives them new life! We have one person who continuously donated his paintings. No one ever seemed to buy them, and it was really sad to see it wasted

People don't get that a lot of art at thrift shops is mass produced by artists for decor and not great works of art. Not to mention that as an artist myself, I would rather my art end up being rejuvinated by another artist than disposed of or destroyed.
the idea of someone coming across a painting you (general you) have worked on and being inspired to put their own spin on it is such a high compliment imo

"Just as the unicorn was a symbol of spring, the ferocious lion came to symbolize summer. Each and every year the unicorn and lion battled for supremacy, and each and every year the unicorn yielded to summer's fury." Christy Shaffer - Dover Unicorns Coloring Book -- You made me think of this with your adorable spring unicorn.
I love all of them! The ducks are my favorite too XD I think people forget that not all art gets saved. A vast majority of art is impermanent, and that's just the way the world works. Artists paint over their own works to reuse the canvas all the time. The important thing is that the original artist got to experience the joy of creating something, and now, so have you because of something that they made.
For the second painting it would be so cute to add open patches of grass. Looking like where the unicorn steps, the snow is melted and the grass if peaking through. Even under the unicorn could also have that open patch of grass! Still loved all of these! ❤
If people like it they like it, if they don't they don't. There is no reason to be rude and mean. I am so happy you gave this another go because I love these. I didn't like the first ones very much but these are just masterpieces. Thank you for giving it another go. I know if you do another round they would be even more perfect!!
This reminds me of a time I was on holiday and I ended up in a Pixar exhibition and someone on Facebook tried to shame me for detouring from my self paid holiday to go to a Pixar exhibition. It’s like… it’s yours, it’s your money… whatever you do with it is your decision even if it “seems childish” to someone else. It is your time and your property and they have no right to shame you. It looks great and you did a very good job!
People just absolutely LOVE to be upset about absolutely nothing sometimes. I think this is a beautiful idea and it makes the piece so much more interesting and meaningful. I love your work, do what you love, and thank you! 🦆🦄🐊
These are some of my favorite videos. I even bought thrifted art and painted on them after seeing your videos. I don't see why people have to be so hateful. It was in a thrift store because no one wanted it. You saved it from the trash like you said. It was your money, not theirs that bought the painting, and now it is your possession for you to do whatever you want with it. This is similar to people who take old dresses or clothes and repurpose them to make new times like updated dresses or ornaments or memory teddy bears. No difference. Keep making these videos because I will watch them every time!!
I'm so sorry you got so much backlash and called names over doing something you enjoy and bringing new life to an old art piece you found in a thrift store. I guess some people just have nothing better to do other than spread hate and be toxic over the internet. Keep doing what you enjoy and if people don't like it they can easily click off the video. Nobody's forcing them to watch something they don't like. Anyways, amazing work as usual! 💜
I remember people yelling at you about it and it was so insane and frankly, hypocritical. There are SO MANY creators who do it and get bit a single negative comment. You can do whatever you want with your own things.
I enjoy your Thrift makeovers! You bought the art and honestly you can do whatever you want. Why are people complaining when you have every right to do whatever you want with the art piece. You coult lit it on fire if you wanted to - you payed for it. Thank you for still continuing what brings you joy ❤
I love this content! I only found you because I was looking for thrift store art being painted. I’m so sad that mean people made you cry with their terrible comments. Please don’t let people like that affect you. They are not worth it.
This is such a cool idea that I want to try. These painting (collabs) came out great! Makes me want to try acrylic again. Cute characters. Some notes: FYI, in here and the last video, when an artist writes their name in the bottom left of the painting, it signifies its a copy/study of an existing work. This is tradition in Fine Arts schools. (So don't worry about "messing up" a one of a kind!) If the acrylic paint is still wet, you can wet and wipe up some of the paint, like in the painting with the large ghost. Even if the paint is damp, you can still peel/scrub it off with a brush. It has been useful to me, especially if I want to make the paint film more transparent.
These turned out so cute! I am glad you did another one of these videos and it really blows that the last one got so much hate. How I have always seen it is these were donated and thrifted. Either the artist or the owner no longer wanted them or needed them and these repaintings give them a second life! And like you said, this is way better than it ending up in a landfill as well.
I’m glad to see you doing this again, I think that it’s wonderful to give art that has been ditched at the thrift store a second chance! Most thrift store art gets purchased for the cheap frame and tossed anyways.
I don't understand why ANYONE would get mad at this tbh. These are thrifted paintings!!! They were donated because literally no one else wanted them or cared enough about them to keep them in storage, so they were inevitably going to be thrown out if no one purchased them. Now they can stay out of the garbage, and have a second chance, which I think is beautiful personally! As an artist, I would feel honored to have others do something like this with my work!!! Also, these are literally just random pieces that were made by completely normal people, it's not like Kasey is painting on the Mona Lisa or something lol. Like, I could totally see getting upset at someone for painting on the original copy of a priceless/famous piece of art history, but this ain't that lmao. The people who got mad about this kind of video just need to log off and go touch grass tbh, and maybe seek therapy for their anger issues as well. 🙃
Hello Kasey! I was a big fan of your stuff 6 years ago, you where such a huge inspiration and motivation for art when I was little and now im comin back to your stuff since im picking up art again!
I'm sad you had to experience that. You have given these art piecesa lot of attention and love. I think the original artists would love this. Thank you for returning to this. I love it
It's upcycling. Taking something that could've just as easily went into the trash and giving it new life. The artist obviously didn't want it themselves, or someone that had it didn't want it, and donated it for someone else to use. It was "garbage" to those people. So... I mean... I think this is a great thing for people to do. Honestly, I have personal friends who have been doing this (myself included, though I've yet to paint on them), where they're buying old art from the thrift store and painting things on it themselves. Some of the things they're doing are legit MASTERPIECES imo. It's keeping that stuff from getting thrown into the landfill. I see no harm in it at all.
I love your paintings with thrifted paintings. It’s not cool anyone would bully you for this. You did fantastic additions! Feel free to do these as often as you’d like. I’ll keep watching them. ❤ 🌈
Someone enjoyed a piece of art and then they didn't want it anymore and instead of it becoming garbage it's being repurposed. People calling you an awful person for this need to take a serious dose of humility. You're a lovely human❤.
OMG this is such a great idea! It’s a bit like augmented art but with a painting in stead of a photo. I would be so honoured it that were my painting you gave new life to. I really love what you did with them ❤
Just like you said….. People are acting as if you went to a museum, stole artwork and then drew over it. If thrift stores weren't a thing, that artwork would be in the trash... so do they prefer it being in a pile of trash God knows where... or given new life???!
The internet is full of trolls who have nothing better to do than make nasty comments. I guess it makes them feel significant or worthy of attention, but the best way to deal with them is to totally ignore them. I love your whimsical ideas for bringing new life to paintings that would otherwise be destroyed.
I love this series!! Yesss please do more! You could even expand to digital versions of art from famous paintings as a for-fun warmup. But in general, I love that you're rescuing thrift art and making it whimsical and loved!
That is fun to do. I did it only once and quickly someone bought it from me. It was fun to do, but I didn’t consider it serious. I’m glad they liked it. It looked pretty good over their mantle.
Other comments have mentioned that a lot of art at thrift shops are just reproduced, mass produced products which is true. Most aren't unique 100+ hour masterpieces. They are quick replicas or hobbyist practice pieces. It's not that deep. And people don't realize it is a historical practice to paint over old pieces. The "greats" did it because it saved canvas. They didn't just make a new canvas each time they wanted to paint because that was time consuming and expensive. They painted over their own and other peoples' work all the time. Some professional artists still do it today. There isn't anything wrong with it especially once you own the piece. Once it leaves the artist's hand it is free game as long as you aren't trying to plagiarize it. Love how your finished pieces turned out! I love that you tried to keep the tones of the original while still mixing the styles. It looks so fun😄
You're honestly very inspiring. The way you embrace your style (which I love) somehow makes it safer for me to let myself just... Make art. Thank you so much. 💙 Don't let the turkeys get you down. 💙
Love your thrift art paintings! Don't let others stop you 😊. There was a well-known danish painter, Asger Oluf Jorn, that painted over art more than 50 years ago, so it is by no means new trend. Plus, in the past, a lot of artists painted over older art as they were poor and didn't want to waste money on new canvas. The haters can go and hate on them, I guess..
these pieces are so fun, i think the unicorn one is my favorite! i love how bold the rainbow is in the snowy landscape. i kinda wished you had put flowers in the unicorn's mane too
To the second paint, I think doesn't have clouds because actually is a cloudy day! It would explain why the sky it's so pale But in general, artist might not paint clouds because they can't fit them in a proper way with the rest of the place and be difficult do draw too (For me it's both lol) In the end I liked your version of the paintings! They turned really funny and cute
I remember the whole thing the last time you did this, i also remember when Jazza did the same idea nobody said anything. interesting how that works right
Kasey you do not need to justify yourself to others! Honestly if people are gonna be nasty I’d just block them and not acknowledge it! At the end of the day the arts been thrifted and you’ve repurposed it. Could have ended in landfill instead! Do what you like, ignore the haters!!
I ADORE stylistic contrast in art pieces it's such a fetching look. MAYBE because I fondly remember Samurai Jack's random overly detailed background scenes verging on realism. Either way its very fun.
Don't care what other people said, these are so cute! Just watched the other video too. You did a good job with these! Nice job going outside of your normal paint medium! Next time I go to the thrift store, I may be trying this!
Hmm...recycling art is a thing. Whoever critisized obviously has no sense of art history. Ignorance can be ignored. Pablo Picasso, Louise Nevelson and Robert Rauschenburg are just a few of the many who have and still re- appapropiate art. Keep doing what drives you, silly or not, it all has value. Personal value cannot be overstated.
There is something so wrong with people who don't enjoy this sort of thing. As an artist myself (and just an admirer of art in general), I LOVE seeing artists bring their own creativity and magic to these pieces!
Honestly, I'd be glad to think my paintings might get a new least of life and someone could still get some enjoyment out of them, rather than have them end up dumped in a bin. Your reinterpretations are a lot of fun!

Each and every year the unicorn and lion battled for supremacy, and each and every year the unicorn yielded to summer's fury." Christy Shaffer - Dover Unicorns Coloring Book -- You made me think of this with your adorable spring unicorn.
I love this idea! It reminds me of the video when you drew Iittle ants on real food pictures
That's AWFUL that people were rude to you. I think this is a really clever way to do and practice art!
I love all of them! The ducks are my favorite too XD
I think people forget that not all art gets saved.
Kasey is 100% my favorite artist i love how creative she is like how?!?
Just do your thing. You doing great!
Your art gives me life Kasey. Don’t ever stop. We want more! ❤
The little Ducky's face peeking over the frame is peak art.
These turned out so good! This is such a fun concept, would love to see more videos like this!
The splash of colour with the rainbow works so well for that painting!! 🥰
The last painting actually reminded me of a Hallmark ugly ducking VHS I used to watch. I’m glad you choose the ugly ducking theme
CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT SHENANIGANS KASEY IS UP TO ON THE INTERNET TODAY
I love your style on these so much. The ducklings are adorable, I wish I looked like them lol
Love it! Ignore those bullies
Some notes:
FYI, in here and the last video, when an artist writes their name in the bottom left of the painting, it signifies its a copy/study of an existing work. This is tradition in Fine Arts schools. (So don't worry about "messing up" a one of a kind!)
If the acrylic paint is still wet, you can wet and wipe up some of the paint, like in the painting with the large ghost.
Duude I’d be psyched if someone did this with my art.. love the mix of styles
I’m glad to see you doing this again, I think that it’s wonderful to give art that has been ditched at the thrift store a second chance! Most thrift store art gets purchased for the cheap frame and tossed anyways.
I love these!! Good for you for not listening to the bullies!! I will continue to watch these videos. This is my favorite series.
I love this type of content. Feel free to do this more often. No hater here! It’s your channel, do whatever you like.
I'm glad you're doing this again!!! It gives paintings that're otherwise forgotten a new breath of fresh life, and a new home to be shown off in
I love the way they turned out! That gator dragon boy is my spirit animal! Just chilling even tho he has literal shit on his head :D
I'm sorry u got hate on ur previous video on this, I think all of these looked so cute! I love the little duck one at the end ❤
It's personalizing the art in a collab! And the end result is a piece you'll love :)
Couldn't agree more!
This. My brother passed and left some half finished art. I was inspired by video's like this to collab with him.
Was hoping for the Shark on the winter one! Unicorn works so well :D
I love it
I loved your first one of these! It was why I subscribed!
Awww, and you're still here!
Don't let the bullies win. do what makes you happy!
girl do what makes you happy as long as it isn't physically hurting anyone your fine!
I love these types of projects! So fun and creative!
It would explain why the sky it's so pale
But in general, artist might not paint clouds because they can't fit them in a proper way with the rest of the place and be difficult do draw too
(For me it's both lol)
In the end I liked your version of the paintings! They turned really funny and cute
Make this a series I really enjoy this
I remember the whole thing the last time you did this, i also remember when Jazza did the same idea nobody said anything. interesting how that works right
I feel like this is also such a great way to get over art block cus there's no blank canvas and you have a whole starting idea right there!
Nothing wrong, everyone is different and it’s okay. Don’t take someone else’s opinions so seriously.
Honestly, I'd be glad to think my paintings might get a new least of life and someone could still get some enjoyment out of them, rather than have them end up dumped in a bin. Your reinterpretations are a lot of fun!
The unicorn picture is awesome ☺️ i liked the Idea of painting over thrifted Art. Ya, everyone's got different opinions about that but i think it's a nice way of working together with that Artist you don't know ☺️👍
You tell 'em, Kasey!
You gave this dead soul art the Salvation it was crying out for.
The ducks are my favorite, too. I really like how all of them came out!
The unicorn piece made my heart so full ❤️
