It's sad that we live in a world where Nintendo fans have to be warned as to negative opinions because they often cannot take it x_x
it's more like people in general. Being butthurt about opinions is not a trait exclusive to video gamers.
Not just Nintendo fans though, it happens in basically every fandom.
+Vigilanteblade #BunchOfCrybabies xD
+Vigilanteblade Lol, I took that as a joke. But yeah, some people are waaaay to but hurt :/
It's not even negative opinions, it's just not 10/10 that fans want to hear. Look at IGN's review of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire; they gave it a 7.8/10, and they got a ton of hate for it. In fact the whole "7.8 too much *blank" is now a meme. Fans of the original games get upset when they hear someone did not give their favourite game a 10/10. Twilight Princess is my favourite game, but I try not to get upset when someone disagrees, because it's only an opinion.
Sometimes it seems like you guys just blindly praise whatever Nintendo publishes. But you definitely showed that's not the case in this review. Good on you for not pretending like the minor changes were world shattering innovations. You've earned a subscriber.
+DarkAdonis123 sony sucks
+DarkAdonis123 Just too bad it's also showing on the dislike bar. There are just too many fanboys here already which can't accept any critique regarding their favorite franchises. So I don't blame them if they won't be too harsh on Nintendo games
+DarkAdonis123 Or a case of not liking the game in the first place, and that biases showing up in this review. Though addressed in the review the final assessment is basically his thought on TP, which I guess you can argue is how someone should view it.
+DarkAdonis123 Well, they just have opinions. They're still blind as a bat.
Same
This comment section is:
10% Salty fanboys
75% People complaining about salty fanboys
15% Random shit
+LimeFroge That equals 110%
+Harold Smith Fixed
+LimeFroge To be fair, salty fanboys are a major annoyance on the Internet. And I'm saying that as a huge TP fan (who doesn't see a reason to revisit it with this remaster).
99% Hot Gas.
At the beginning of the game instead of walking with the mom, you can walk up to her house with the cradle and it will cut to the cutscene
It’s like that in the original
I think TP is one of the best titles ever made in the Zelda series, however I still like your review even though we have very different opinions. It's one of those subjective things... you love or hate it.
+WolfireGAMING Thank you for understanding that people have opinions, and just because they contradict yours does not mean they are wrong
I prefer this over wind waker... Come at me.
ok
+MrEpicRobot ikr
nothing wrong with that, TP has much better dungeons and bosses than WW
+Yaeven Right now the best looking Zelda game is probably WW HD until ZeldaU releases.
+Eric Herrera TP good bossess half of them are the worst in the franchise lol.
I see more people complaining about TP fanboys than I see unreasonable TP fanboys.
I do too, the Wii sucked, Gamecube and Wii U Twilight Princess is better.
+PauLtus B They are probably buried in the comments somewhere
Those unreasonable fanboys make up most of the dislike bar.
*****
I don't quite know the rating system here.
But giving it a "meh" sounds pretty harsh.
And let people disagree, as long as we're all reasonable about it.
+PauLtus B Yeah, this rating system is ass, I agree. There's something wrong about Super Mystery Dungeon, Sonic Boom and Twilight Princess HD all essentially getting the same 'Meh' rating. Still, I can't say I don't agree with a lot of points Andre brought up. 'Meh' perhaps is a bit too harsh for this game, but not entirely unjustified.
Yeeeah, from what I'd been seeing, this was the unfortunate result I was expecting. Wind Waker HD is crazy good looking, fixed a ton of really major problems, and the original game even without those improvements (I'd say) is still really really good... But Twilight Princess is just a little too clunky to make good with a HD remaster. A shame.
I might still pick it up if I have some spare cash, but I'm in no rush whatsoever to get this.
I agree with you.
+Viva "IMMATOONLINK" Reverie I actually thought Wind Waker HD looked worse than the Gamecube version in some aspects. There's way too much bloom and the lighting during daytime is not exactly easy on the eyes compared to the original. That, and the gradient lighting in some scenes broke the original game's art style pretty harshly. I dunno but taking away the cell shading from Wind Waker is like trying to kake away the paper thin characters from Paper Mario. It's the point of the art style. You're not supposed to make it look more real.
Twilight Princess HD on the other hand really needed a more realistic look in the form of updated models and maps. But it didn't get that (mostly).
It's strange, WW HD made it look too real and TP HD didn't make it look real enough.
+ShyGuyXXL I can definitely see where you're coming from, WWHD does _technically_ break the original "Purely cell-shaded" aesthetic WW was originally going for. That being said, every shadow is still purely flat, so I'd argue it still has a very cell-shaded focus among other things, especially the focus on how bright the colours are. I think that might be the thing that stands out the most to me whenever I see WWHD footage, I always find myself commenting "God it's so colourful". That of course is a result of the bloom, which you said you didn't like, but hey, different strokes for different folks.
Agreed.
+Viva "IMMATOONLINK" Reverie Wait, how does the bloom of all things make it more colorfull? If anything it makes it look more washed out.
I mean look:
timenerdworld.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/wind-waker-comparison-2.jpg
and
timenerdworld.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/wind-waker-comparison-3.jpg
Yes, the HD version has _brighter_ colors, but brighter in the sense that there's more light thrown onto it.
The colors in the original look more solid if you ask me. Vibrant but easy to look at.
The cell shading is still mostly there. Or at least it looks like it in most of the areas. But if you're in an area with special lighting or when you're opening a treasure chest it switches completely to gradient shadows:
portforward.com/games/walkthroughs/The-Legend-of-Zelda-The-Wind-Waker/The-Legend-of-Zelda-The-Wind-Waker-large-646.jpg
i.ytimg.com/vi/Du_OzFHNrw8/maxresdefault.jpg
In real cell shading there would only be 2 shades of each color on every model.
That itself isn't a bad look but it's not the look Wind Waker was going for.
I like how Matthewmatosis put it:
If the Wind Waker is a cartoon, then the Wind Waker HD is a plastic toy of that cartoon.
I just wish they updated the character models more. Look at Zelda's blocky fingers at 1:25. And wolf link should have gotten real fur :(
To me, he looks more furry in this game than in Breath of the Wild.
Yeah TP deserved a remake imo
especially giving the fact that rare pulled off fur textures for starfox adv on gamecube back in 2002. damn nintendo...
Twilight Princess is the most underrated Zelda of all times and my favorite ever, more than OOT, MM, WW and SS. The atmosphere, characters, dungeons, story, soundtracks, enemies, bosses... everything is amazing in this game for me! Can't wait to replay it in HD!
Andre, I really appreciate how honest you are about twilight princess. Although I like the game a little more than you do, it was nice to see that you didn't waver throughout the twilight princess hype. People have been hating on you since TPHD was announced for your opinion, you went into the game with an open mind, and still felt the same way about it in the end. I'm glad the haters didn't get to you... You were able to keep your cool and didn't cater to anyone. That's why I love GX.
+goronhero Aww thanks so much :)
And here I thought Andre would have more of a "howling" good time with Twilight Princess HD...
Awoooooooooo
Ohhhhhhh yeahhhhhh
hahaha I GET IT
+emilysong2000 BOOOOO!!!
+emilysong2000 lol thanks for that
Still the best Zelda game.
+Mario Magnum and your comment the funniest here.
+Ultralquimista he's right
+Mario Magnum .....said no one ever
+randomperson63758 nah m8, 8/8. No but really, loads of people think this is the best Zelda game, including myself. Sorry I had the most fun with it. And it has the best story etc in my opinion.
+MiddiTwili It has a good story, sure, but there's still: slow start, empty overworld, bad enemy A.I., items become virtually useless outside their respective dungeons, no decent side-quests, and most of the soundtrack is midi. (Though that last point is a personal gripe)
I just hate how a lot of people are so blind when it comes to games. All they see is: "err mer gerd!! Realistic grafiks!! Dis game SO GUD!!" and disregard every real problem with a game.
I never minded a long opening to games as long as that opening has good character or world building. I always thought TP was great at both. TP more then any other Zelda game (SS did a decent job), allowed you to understand the peace and happiness of links life before the adventure. So when I was in the main adventure, I had more of a reason to finish the game beyond just beating it.
AND IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOOOOOOUUUUUU!
LOLOLOLOLOL
HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!?
WHY!?
HOLY SHIT!
+Johan Wikström AND IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII -HOLY SHIT-...... WILL ALWAYS LOVE YO- HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME GOD DAMN IT, HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!?
gotta love Jontron!
Seeing as how I absolutely love Twilight Princess, and a few smaller improvements in both gameplay and visuals are probably enough to make me love it even more, I'll simply agree to disagree.
But then again, TP is probably the second most divisive Zelda game, so I don't expect everyone's views to match up with mine.
+Zero Wat second most? lolwut. Majora's Mask is the most divisive followed by Skyward Sword. Twilight Princess is liked more than hated by others.
+legendaryhero90 Majora's Mask isn't divisive at all. It's generally either loved or liked, with a very select few complaining about the time element when it was first released.
I never liked the save system, but it was never enough to make me dislike the game because Majora's Mask is so good.
I've found Twilight Princess incredibly boring since it first came out. I think "divisive" is the right word for it.
I feel similarly about Twilight Princess, because while I loved the dungeons, the things you had to do outside of the dungeons were more annoying than fun.
the dungeons are the best part of twilight princess although the dungeon treasures are basically one use items which is a bit disappointing. i mean thats a problem in every zelda game but its more glaring in TP
Yeah
+Jack Critelli MM didn't have that problem
+TheReviewerBoy01 not the dungeon treasures ill admit. however some of the masks were. like giants mask or all nights mask.
+Fuzzlekins I enjoyed them.
6:36 YOU DONT HAVE TO WALK ALONG SIDE HER! YOU CAN JUST RUN UP TO THE HOUSE WITHOUT HER!
Twilight princess is actually my favourite 3d zelda despite its flaws. I'll probably pick it up to do hero mode with gannon, but other than that it seems kind of meh as an HD remake. I can't believe how horrible most zelda/nintendo fans are. It's ok if someone doesn't like a nintendo game, especially if its a HD port that doesn't seem to add anything substantial.
Oh my God. That disclaimer at 5:04 was great. I love you GameXplain.
me: Please don't be Andre reviewing it.
Video: *Andre starts talking*
me: God dangit.
I think Twilight Princess always achieved what it meant to do: provide us with a more epic, realistic Zelda game that hearkened back to the world of Ocarina of Time (with a bit of Majora's Mask thrown in there). It's a great Zelda title and I look forward to playing it again soon in HD!
Friendly reminder that reviews are a *subjective* medium, not objective, and the reviewer is entitled to give their honest opinion on it.
Plus, he DID address that people who aren't him may actually love it. What more do you want? Great review, Andre.
I think that this channel gives amazing reviews. Even if I might feel differently about a game (this video is a perfect example; Twilight Princess is one of my favourite games), I always completely understand why scores are given the way they are. Furthermore, it's very apparent to me that this channel is made as a result of passion and love for gaming. I think it's neat that this video - one that contains a review I disagree with - is what's inspired me to subscribe. Keep up the amazing work, guys!
The same reason why you dislike the side-quests are the same reason why I like side-quests in all games. I'm going to enjoy this like the Wii version. Thanks!
+《Yuu-Mon》 Yeah, everything he said he disliked was something I actually liked. The game does have pacing issues, and the remake has shading/lighting issues; but the sidequests I actually like.
+《Yuu-Mon》 Amen!
I liked Zelda TP, one of my fav out of the series, it had a good story and decent quests.
+17jun1989
* great story and good quests (rather minigames)
Whats the song playing in the background at 6:50? I know its from Twilight Princess but I can't find it :'(
It's so nice to see a reviewer who can both express his personal feelings and yet respect those that have different views on the game so well.
It's hard to find those today
I loved the original TP personally, and will definetly be picking this up, but I can understand why someone wouldn't like it.
+AtheistGamer Thanks for having a calm and collected opinion. Good on ya, you beautiful atheist you. :P
You, sir, are the ingredient for interesting and diverse discussions on this rioting and savage place that is the internet.
Bobby Ross
Life's too short to get salty about someone not liking something you do, and vice versa.
Gmaniac01
I wouldn't care if they were.
"Game has never looked better".
While I agree this is miles better than the original, I think some of the fan texture packs actually do look a few steps above this.
+Enzo M87 There are several fan projects. Some may have ruined the game, but I don't believe all of them did.
Aidan Schulmeister
Most people seem to think you need a much more powerful machine than you actually need to emulate Wii games.
I've seen quite a few of those texture packs, they all have realistic textures, which is not in line with the original art style of the game.
Well, except for that weird Skyward Sword-esque pack. That isn't realistic, but it is still an entirely different style.
nice review and it's so appreciated that your videos are in 60fps which ensure that it doesn't look like shit on youtube. I wish more reviewers would do that...
I was exact opposite of you with most points you made in the "not caring about Twilight Princess", but I must say that this is the best Twilight Princess HD review I've seen. Good job!
Good to see you giving a good review. I love the game, but I see why others don't. Keep being cool GameXplain
This is my favorite Zelda game, really disappointed that they didn't fix as many of the issues with it as I had hoped. Seems like they did the bare minimum. Oh well, if I ever lose my copy I will be getting this version.
My most favorite compared to the others.
QUESTION!
So, i have played the wii version (the non mirrored version i guesss?) and now i dont know wich one to play?
i can play the gamecube version (so the layout is different) or the same game but with hero mode on.
I cant decide wich one of these 2 is a better overall improvement.
plz help!
*COUGH* Wii version is reversed *COUGH*
Ahem.... Normal = GameCube layout
Hero = Wii Layout.
Ye, but i played the wii version. The best for me is to play the gamcube version on hero mode. But i dont know whats an bigger improvement since i cant choose both.
1:10 I like how Link is literally beating around the bush :)
I've always tended to agree ( to varying degrees ) with GamXplain's reviews, but this is the first time I vehemently disagree with one. For me Twilight Princess is a tremendous video game and one of the finest Zelda games ever made. I get the impression that this reviewer was overly subjective and had his mind made up before he even played through to the conclusion of the remaster. Alas, it hurts me to have to give you a dislike for what I feel is an injustice to the magnificent The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess. :(
+mohamed saleh Every single one of our reviews is 100% subjective; that's why I described the review as how it affected me personally
+Rks Rks More like people in general stop grouping all of us together
+Rks Rks Sorry, but you came off looking worse than OP with your comment,
+GameXplain - You're right of course. Horses for courses and all that. Sometimes I just need to remind myself that some people won't like a game as much as I do. I slightly regret the dislike now lol.
+Rks Rks What a clown. I worded my complaint sensibly and maturely enough, without resorting to petty name calling or being offencesive. Ironic how you come across as a particularly unhinged individual lol.
People didn't read the warning.
Nice review, man. It was great to hear your thoughts.
It certainly is one of the most divisive Zelda games of all time. I think much of that stems from the timing of its release. For example, the control scheme adopted for the Wii release was quite disjointing in retrospect. The switch back to a more serious aesthetic - something that many appreciated - also drew obvious comparisons to the exceptional title that was OOT.
In terms of Zelda games, TP is a personal favorite of mine. However, I can fully appreciate your opinions around some of the negative aspects you associate with the game. The things that matter the most to me in a Zelda game; the dungeon designs, the central narrative, and the items, are all big positives for me personally. I hold this game in high regard largely due to these core elements, and also due to a little bit of nostalgia :-)
Keep up the good work!
You need my attention.
I like how when he gives his "meh" rating, Midna and Wolf Link are showing their anger with him. (7:30)
I loved TLoZ: TP but Andre's criticism of the game are pretty accurate.
I love how you put a warning before stating your opinion, lol. That's the Internet for you.
Great review, this answered basically all of my questions and gave me a good idea of what to expect from the remake. I loved the original and I'm going to love having a more convenient way to play an improved version with a little extra content. Don't worry about putting a negative opinion warning, 'cus those who complain about the reviews are the people who skip to the end just to see the score anyway, so it's pretty redundant.
Twilight Princess is my favorite game of all time(currently)but i guess i can see why you dont like it, thanks at least for saying your opinion in a respectful manner and given a good reason.
I'm glad you were honest about it. My biggest issue with the game was fixed by the fact that its now in HD. That is everything looked blurry and dark and it was hard to see. Honestly, I'm more excited about that Wolf Link amiibo lol.
Only thing i find unfortunate is in a lot of areas when playing off TV with the Game pad, there is a very noticeable frame rate drop.
+Steve CM wow, that sucks. I would never expect that in a Zelda game, especially for a remastering.
Grand Priest desperate Nintendo scares me tbh. If the Wii U was successful, I wonder how much of this shit we would be getting (Amiibo festival, this, Ultra Smash).
Aré you going to make the second part of the Q & A video?
The Ordon Gate Clip Glitch might still work to skip the first section of the game and when carrying the crib back to the house, you can just run to the house and you automatically get the Fishing Rod.
A solid review and kudos to sticking with your guns. I do wish you would maybe have gone a bit more into your feelings about TP itself, but that would likely be getting into spoiler territory. I like TP, but I completely understand that people's love for the game is dependant on how tolerant they are of padding and filler, because the game DOES have that no matter what your opinion on the game is.
You do realize you don't have to walk with the lady with the basket... Right!? You can run right to her house and it skips to the next scene...
Nice Review :D, I liked how you covered all 3 groups of people instead of just 1. I feel like it makes it easyer for the people in the groups to choose to buy the game or not :D
Considering you're not the biggest fan of the original game, I find this review pretty fair. You gave your honest opinions without completely trashing the game at the same time. Good on you Andre! 👍. While I would have loved for this to have used the graphics engine from the 2011 tech demo, I'm satisfied with how this turned out. Can't wait to pick up my copy on Friday, with the Sound Selection CD! 😃
God damn, this comment section is cancer
"How dare people disagree with the review? Nintendo fanboys just can't handle criticism"
"This review is horrible, assholes"
Apparently, you can't disagree with a review without being labeled a fanboy, 'cause how dare you ever disagree with Nintendo criticism, but you also can't agree with it either. Amusing, really
You can disagree with a review, and it's expected to a point. But some of the reasons for "disagreeing" I've seen, hoo boy these children must believe Nintendo is Jesus
Jigglypuff Tutorials Some of the reasons are bad but I'm seeing WAY more people complaining about fanboyism than any actual fanboyish posts for the most ridiculous of reasons. I'm pretty sure if I gave a negative opinion of non-Nintendo game, like The Last of Us, I'd have gotten way more shit
Great review. I wasn't a fan of the original and your review helped me pass on this game. The improvements are kinda nice but not enough to win me over. This game needed more time in the development oven to fix some of the issues that remained.
Wonderful review, as a person whose yet to experience Twilight Princess I'll diffently pick up this version.
A fair and justified review, and very informative too. I haven't heard about these pacing issues before, so it was interesting to hear them now, as pacing is always one of my main concerns for video games.
I've never played Twilight Princess, and if it wasn't for the fact that I collect every amiibo, I probably wouldn't be getting the HD remaster. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm not setting my expectations too high. But it may surprise me.
"HOW DARE YOU GIVE tp AN 8.8" -Zelda fans, 2006
It's like history repeats
who gave TP a 8.8 when it came out?
Eric Herrera game spot lol it was internet meltdown. The game wasn’t even out yet.
I already own Twilight Princess for the GameCube, and I'm relieved to know I won't have to spend another like 60 bucks for a "slightly prettier" version. :p
Yeah, I hoped that the Wii U could render Wii games in higher resolutions anyway, bit of course it doesn't.
+jjopification I think it can, this HD version was clearly rushed. I feel more could had been done, to say the least.
+jjopification It obviously can, but Australia has shitty game developers
***** Yeah. On a technological level, it should be possible, but I guess we could blame Ninty in this case for not offering that / going the extra mile for such a feature.
Haha~ I found it hilarious when you put up that warning in the video. That was a nice touch. xD
For me personally, this is a game worth getting. Twilight Princess wasn't my favorite Zelda, but it's still up there. The graphical improvements were much-needed, and are more than enough of a change for me. That was always one of my major problems with the original: It tried to make a super-realistic Zelda, but I couldn't make out any of the blurry graphics very clearly, and I always wished I could get a better view of the characters...especially Wolf Link. The blur seemed especially bad on his fur back on the Wii and Gamecube. The new visuals look AMAZING despite low polygon counts. And I just LOVE Wolf Link. So getting that Wolf Link amiibo is a plus. xP
But I'm glad that you took the time to explain why you don't like Twilight Princess, rather than just say "I didn't like TP and don't like this as a result." They are good complaints. And the lack of time manipulation is another big problem I had with the game...especially considering that Poe Soul gathering is one of the major collectibles in the game and you can only do it at night. Though I do have to disagree with the pacing. I felt that I was always doing something very important to the plot...with the exception of the Twilight Bug hunting. And of course, except for those times when I was just goofing off and/or exploring around. xD
I understand your opinion and where you are coming from. I'm in the group that loved the original and I definitely am getting the HD version because I want to experience it all again (also I misplaces my Gamecube copy so why not replace it with an enhanced version). Also that amiibo. Can't not have that amiibo. I have all the other Zelda Amiibo, need this one.
i have always liked twilight princess but damn i wish nintendo would just make his damn hat not clip through his shield it bugs me
people are gonna hate you for this review, but i respect your opinion on it. keep up the reviews!
Oh no Andre, watch out!
I started with the Wii version and if I could mention a few complaints: For whatever reason, Epona's controls felt more stiff than on the Wii, and like Andre mentioned, having hero mode on mirrored. I AM used to the Mirrored version but I wanted a challenge in the original format.
Excellent review Andre, and thanks for putting the facts up front and saving critical opinions for the latter half, that's a cool way to review a remake. I owned the original on Wii and loved it but never managed to finish it, so this is going to be both a rekindling and closure for me now. I'm definitely picking this up Friday.
I'm still waiting for the HD remake of Super Mario Sunshine.
+Pat Knack Since Andre also doesn't like that game, it probably also would score a meh.
oscarzx n I wouldn't care if all the gameplay was the same, if they updated the graphics to it I would play it all day just to stare at how beautiful it would be.
Okay :) .
Thank you for this review and not giving in to those stupid Nintendo fanboys. Really liked your approach on this review and try to consider all three parties.
Just started playing TP for the first time and I gotta say I'm really loving it so far. The first two dungeons were spectacular and I'm actually surprised by how crisp the game looks now that I'm playing it, compared to what I saw in previews. Only down side so far is that the twilight sections can be a bit of a drag.
If there was an update in the future to speed up the opening, would that change your mind?
Hah! 70 dislikes? Typical Zelda fanboys. What a bunch of crybabies that can't respect a "negative" opinion. lol xD
nintendo fanboys at it again
Zelda fanboys can be pretty stupid, but not all of them are like that. I know plenty of Zelda fanboys who couldn't care less if your opinion is different than theirs. Unfortunately the internet tends to be a huge circlejerk of whiny bitches at times.
+Walter Payne yeah that's how the entire internet is like it's not just Zelda fans (but honestly most Zelda fans are very stupid and get annoyed by anything, and this is coming from a huge Zelda fan) It's just the truth, great games usually have horrible fanbases, I am looking at you Undertale....
JCrv I really want to play Undertale, seeing how passionate (albeit somewhat annoying) it's fans are about it. Too bad I don't have regular access to a PC to play it. Hopefully it comes to the 3DS someday. :p
+Infinity Master I'm a HUGE zelda fanboy and I liked this review. I really enjoy other peoples opinions and I am not even going to pick this game up. haha Maybe I am a rare zelda fan then but I'd like to hope some of us fanboys have brains that aren't filled with only things Nintendo
What changes to Wind Waker HD were "transformative" enough to make you like the game that TPHD didn't do?
WWHD had the same low polygon models from its original game. WWHD did have an improved soundtrack, but I didn't notice it while playing until I looked it up, but I can't imagine that's what changed your mind from the original.
+Clayton Grange They completely fixed the most prevalent element in the game: sailing. It's both way faster, and doesn't require you to change the wind direction every time you want to make a slight turn.
+GameXplain There really isn't a change that TP could do like that though. The sailing thing is just some fixed minor mechanics that were easy to implement.
+GameXplain that's it? the wind? doesn't change the fact that the WW dungeons and bosses suck
+Clayton Grange Well I'm not Andre but I think the fast sail, the shorter animations, the fact you don't get knocked off your boat when you get hit, the triforce chart quest was actually bearable, enemies aren't invincible for that long making WW combat more engaging, text speed, camera controls can be tailored according to your needs among others.
WW is a fun game but a bunch of design choices held it back. Alas, too many time consuming tasks, it's like the syndrome 3D Zelda games suffer from... Still those improvements were clearly added and made to address those issues. They genuinely made the game remarkably better, as a remake should.
Not to mention the Triforce Hunt. They simplified that beautifully. Sure they did the same for the Tears of Light, but not nearly to the same extent that WW handled the most notorious and infamous part of the game. Basically, Wind Waker HD cut out GIGANTIC chunks of its tedium and needless fluff. TP HD does the same, but to a much lesser extent, since the more notorious aspects of TP aren't really something that can be remedied without literally removing parts of the game entirely.
Did they upscale the music from midi to MP3 tracks?
+Timothy Wong Nope.
Solid review. I'm happy that you addressed the different groups of people that might want to play the game, as some reviews might assume only one or two of the groups. From what I've seen so far, the only real issue I have with the graphics is the low polygon counts on some of the models. From a gameplay standpoint, I didn't really have many problems with Twilight Princess when I first played it. The only thing I really disagree with you on is the pacing, which I didn't have a problem with. But that's completely subjective, so I can respect that you might not like the beginning or other parts of the game as much as I do.
Solid Snake reviewed.
P L E A S E GameXplain, read what I have to say! Maybe it will change your mind a bit... Let me tell you the experience of a looonngtime Zelda fan, probably my number one loved franchise.
When I played the original on the gamecube I never felt a problem in the game, even though I didn't even knew what pacing was. I was so involved in the story, world and characters... and I loved the dark hazy visual and atmosphere, It is surprising to know so many people thought it was a bad thing. I'm one of the folks that thought making Zelda OoT and MM on 3DS brighter a bad thing for the sense of dread and worry about the world was always there in the atmosphere (and of course, music) to make you feel uncomfortable and keep trying to save the world.
About the difficulty... 3D Zelda was never really a hard game, but difficult enough to mantain your attention. But this game was the first one that I recall having hard fights that weren't just bosses or Dark Link. The way you kill the twilight monsters by having all 3 down at the same time felt acually really challenging as a young teenager, specially because you'd never expect Zelda 3d to be hard at the time and specially at the beginning of the game. And I was one of the guys that beat water temple just like any other ordinary temple wihout walkthroughs. Man, the moment when you are trying to cross the roof of Hyrule castle in ruins as a wolf, I was terrified to fight the dragons flying around there because they hit you hard and evenn throw you off the already little roofs... and you were still with very few heart containers at that point! I can't believe I'm the only one who needed to focus my senses on real life on that part. Also, the fight with Zant on the end was actualy pretty hard! And the final battle with you-know-who was pretty challenning too. And epic... man, that fukin' swordfighting...
The begininng of the game never felt unecessary or anything to me, I thought it was actually very good for knnowing how Link's life and village works, and even though I remember being a little hard to fish at first I was just amazed by the idea of fishing again on a zelda game and get all the types of fish. And I didn't even mentioned about how cool was calling out my personal hawk from the skies. I don't think any previous Zelda had that much involvement and development of your hometown like that.
Also, late in the game, the 3 guys near Telma that were like almost common people from Hyrule that despite not being as powerfull as Link trying to help you, showing you that you were not alone in the kingdom unlike most zeldas.... You also see that from the blonde kid that even though he is not the chosen one like Link, it's trying his best to help and be like Link. The real common people on this kingdom are fighting with you! And that was waaaay before Linkle.
The temples were epic not only on scale... and even out of them you were experiencing you never had in previous zeldas... like trying to ride on an angry boar! The really well done base invasions, FUKIN' SNOWBOARDING!!! The SPINNER and that boss from its temple it's ridiculous epic fun... THE CHARACTER OF MIDNA, The moment when you need to hold on a rampaging goat and doubt yourself if you will be able to do it... fighting on the horse with the sword for the first time on zelda... man even Zelda looked so shady, you didn't evem know if it was ok to trust her in this game, same for Midna, did I mention SNOWBOARDING yet? And many other thing I can't talk about because spoilers... like that really dark cutscene about Link that even after finish the game makes you wonder what it really meant... and the stalfo that helps you... ah the game theory...
I hope people will try out the game regardless of your analisys, because at my time onn Game Cube it was fun and a emotional rollercoast from start to finish! Play Ocarina, Majora and then play this game so you'll feel how it was good for its time and even today.

Thank you!
Thanks I was wondering to get the game or not but all your points and SWORD FIGHTING!? I know I'm a bit late but I'm trying to get back into Zelda I also beat water Temple it was easy I played majoras mask ocarina of time and the bad one triforce heros.
who else is team andre x telma / tandre
hey guys haven't watched much of your stuff in a while but I love the new intro animation
what was the song played in this video
I never understood the hate for any Zelda game.. I love Skyward sword, wind waker, and twilight princess. It pissed me the fuck off that the Zelda community is so divided with those games. Why can't people love Zelda games for the puzzles? Or the story? Nope graphics are the only thing people seem to care about
There was no reason for an HD remake of this game, its not that old, Its on the WII and gamecube already, and has basically no graphical upgrades, hens the title HD
+Doyen I think the reason is because of the new Zelda coming to WiiU. Maybe that story is connected to Twilight Princess and Nintendo just wanted to remind everybody: Then again, I could be wrong.
+Doyen Well, I disagree. I even hope for a Skyward Sword HD remake!
+Doyen meanwhile the sony fagtsation4 is remaking every garbage game they have
+Focal1 but why, if you own a Wii U you can play Skyward sword, its pretty much HD already, why would we need a cash in of a basically new game
Nostalgia cash grab
I'm glad you where honest Andre, makes your reviews all the better
Excellent review! Sounds like it's a great game for those who already like TP, or who are looking to try it, but for people like myself and Andre who were a bit "meh" on the original, it sounds like the new version won't do much to change that. I guess I'll sit this one out, but maybe I'll pick it up later down the road.
Oh wow... I did not expect a "meh"...
I don't mean any hate or really anything by this...I just find it funny that Twilight Princess HD got the same score as Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. :P
well it is a remake not an original built from scratch game
Great review Andre! =D Told me exactly what I needed to know (although the result wasn't too surprising after your discussions). Looks like this is the first Zelda remaster that I'll be skipping - as much as I've tried to like it, I really don't enjoy Twilight Princess, and there just aren't enough improvements here to warrant a purchase. Ah well...
Thanks Gamexplain for being honest, nice review Andre, it's sad that you had to put a warning and even then people don't understand.
Respectfully disagree with this review not because of the negatives but because it says it is a worthy upgrade to the original. Twilight Princess got screwed over with a rushed port because of the WiiU's lack of upcoming games. The graphics were too detailed to just need an upped resolution. Twilight Princess needed a ground-up remake to feel like the breath of fresh air that Wind Waker HD managed to be (because the cel-shaded graphics hadn't aged so visually it just needed a couple of enhancements). Aside from the visuals, Twilight Princess just needed the bosses to be harder, find a couple more uses for the spinner and maybe add a couple more things in the hub world (which is hardly as empty as some people say it is).
As someone who adored the original this is quite disappointing only because it means it will probably never get the remake it truly deserves.
It's not just upscaled resolution. Honestly I have played the game almost to completion, and there are all new texture throughout the entire game. This game is stunning, and is NOT just a quick port. Maybe you should try playing the game first before knocking it. So many people are shitting on this game and most have not even played it, just watched a few UA-cam videos. UA-cam does not do this game justice.
Deep South
I see your point and obviously youtube does not show the actual experience but it's more than just the quality of the image. It's more so the environments. Some (not all) don't translate well in HD
This just in! Nobody is allowed to dislike Zelda. If you even think a game is meh, you're wrong and the masses will let you know.
We now return to our regular GameXplain content.
It's a little fucked up to give a game like Twilight Princess the same score that Sonic Boom got.
This was a good watch. I loved Twilight Princess HD, but your criticisms are totally valid and are actually criticisms of my own, I just liked the other parts of the game enough to come away loving it. You did a great job going over the HD upgrade itself and covering your problems with the game itself. It would have been nice if you'd gone into a little more detail on the few things you did like about the game, I guess, but on the whole I appreciated this review.
I look forward to playing it again. It's my favorite LoZ game. And I'm stoked for the original orientation and conventional game controls that I didn't have on the Wii.

what kind of timeline are you in
I'm ready for skyward sword HD
The game that is only 5 years old?
Skyward swords excellent art style in HD with the improved motion controls of the switch? I'm ready daddy
In a little over a year it will be a decade since its release, so you never know 👀
I finally decided to get Twilight Princess HD this Christmas and see how it is. I've never played the original but I've heard a lot about it, so I'm excited to try this one out to keep me busy until Breath of the Wild.
Should i buy the wii u at the end of this year or wait for the NX?
Wanna hear a joke....
TheFineBros
+Steave Urkel is this still relevant?
+peter smit Nope.
Ha, they're losing so much.
+Steave Urkel Old joke.
this is how the wii version should've looked if only nintendo didn't make the wii so weak
+najeh mufleh You could say it was wiieak *budumsh*....
Ok i'll leave now
I really respect the style of this review. A really comprehensive analysis of the game's merits and shortcomings regardless of your own disinterest with the game.
I really like how you didn't let your personal opinions take away from the quality of the review. I respect those opinions as well, so I'm happy with your review.
A trigger warning, really?
+AdmiralJuicy Even with one people are complaining
I hate trigger warnings.
+AdmiralJuicy Would you say you're... triggered?
+AdmiralJuicy Some Nintendo fans seem to have major mental issues so it's not that inappropirate
I will turn that meh to an epic
+zelda foxx how sad that this is not your review :/
+SamurayGiatto I know right my review would be awesome
Really good reveiw! since being a big fan of the original twilight princess im gonna pick it up anyway I already preordered.
sure the changes are'nt great but I think I'll like them camera controls, poe and tears of light collecting are easier, faster climbing, and no damn text box tellin me how i got a blue ruppee everytime I reload the game! I would call it a remaster than a remake.
Zelda's my all time favorite series why woulden't I buy it?
Am i the only one who liked the intro to the game?
I'm looking forward to getting back into this game. It is one of my favorite Zelda games. Though, thats under most of the other 3D ones. But, it is depressing that more improvements weren't made. :\
