I have the 3, my question is what are the new synths added in 4. Are the new sounds just layers of the old ones. Which would make it just new combi presets or are there totally new synths. Anybody know where I can find what the New synths are?
Looks like a _great_ upgrade but I find it not only odd but questionable as to why there's not a simple list of all the additional synths added. (Going by the specs of both v.3 and v.4, it appears to be about 132 synths to about 200.)
I cannot find any information on if this is NKS 2.0 compatible or not (most likely not). It looks like this plays inside of either Falcon 2 or UVI Workstation, if I am reading correctly. Getting ready to pick up a new Kontrol MK3 and would love to see this on it.
Major changes to the interface. The dual synth programming adds lots of options. But I think the 'Like' sounds buttons - finding things that sound similar to what you have loaded - is so much better that poking through a list of 'String' or 'Lead' patches. That in itself makes the upgrade worth it.
Hey, can someone help me understand what this is? I am trying to find information on what elements of the synths have been sampled. It doesn't appear that these are trying to be exact emulations, instead opting to go give users the core sound of each synth and a set of tweakable parameters that are general and not specific recreations/emulations of the original and individual synths. Is thee core sound an 'Init patch'? For example the Korg Wavestate, Prologue and Dave.S Take 5, are amongst the synths in this bundle. How have these synths been virtually synthesized/sampled/recreated in virtual form? How much of each individual instrument is imparted in these emulations. Korg already have a Wavestate VST, which clearly has been designed to be a replica of the hardware, with the same sonic engine and all the soundscultping possibilitys and parameters as the hardware. Whereas UVI Synth anthology, seems to provide a picture of the chosen synth and generalized parameters that are consistent/universal to every synth in the UVI bundle. Are the included presets from the original synths or made by UVI? I would have liked to have articulated all the above in a more understandable manner. If anyone can make sense of what I am trying to ask and have answers, I would greatly appreciate hearing/reading them. "MACHINES INCLUDED Synth Anthology 4 includes 3,500 sound layers created on 200 hardware synthesizers, expertly programmed, recorded, and edited." I am not sure what the above quotation means. 3,500 sounds/noises created from/out of the 200 synths? Unique presets made by UVI, that we get to play with?
Simple answer-yes-this is 3500 presets made from the list of synths that you can then manipulate/tweak/effect to your liking. It's generally preferable for people like myself who don't like synth programming but rather enjoy spending more time making music.
In some cases it's a multisample of a famous preset, in others it's a "professionally produced" sound made from a synth that didn't even have presets (like early Moogs). Many of the sounds have reverb and delay added, but the levels can be tweaked or disabled entirely. You can also alter the ADSR envelopes. It's mainly to be used as a "preset machine", a bit like Kontakt libraries. I think the new version clocks in at 20gig of HD space which is nothing compared omnisphere or an orchestra sample set, but UVI MST have done something clever with the multisampling and looping, because the sound quality is excellent. Some of the synths only have a few presets, but others have quite a lot. It would take a long time just to audition them all.
Did Instanty buy, but unfortunately Synth Anthology 4 has some serious bugs in UVI Workstation. FX cannot be accessed anymore like it was possible in SA2 and SA3 (no visible parameters in the Effects Tab only Rack Effect, some Patches have Reverb and Delay, some not, no chorus). You certainly don't get full replicas of 200 synths. You get a few thousand tweakable presets that are based on multisamples recorded from 200 different synths. e.g. You'll get 20-ish Minimoog sounds, a dozen from the KorgmM1, some classics from the Roland D-50 etc. Some of the synths are quite rare and there's some crossover with UVI's Vintage Vault, but there's plenty of good stuff for anyone making electronic music who just wants a high quality "preset machine" with limited tweakability, rather than having a hundred knobs and sliders for each machine.
