    It is no secret that we both love the team at UVI and their products. I can not go without Falcon ever again. Your videos are so top notch that somehow your subscriber number should tenfold before the end of the year.

      Thanks Ray, that means a lot. Since I'm only a part time UA-camr, I don't get the traffic that the big boys get, but I'd rather spend the time to put out a good video rather than multiple videos a week.

    YuSynth are 5U format modules by Yves Usson. He has also worked on developing hardware synths with Arturia.

      I had to read up on him when I first bought SA2. I remember pulling up that synth from the hardware menu and thinking, 'what the heck is a Yusynth?" A couple of those patches are actually my favorites.
      I didn't know he worked with Arturia though. I've got a few of their softsynths and a Polybrute sitting next to me which I don't play enough.

      @arcticfoxstudios2018  Рік тому

      Yeah, the number of synths in SA4 is staggering, but in reality, you're only getting a slice of each one. I have a Korg Triton and really the Triton patches in SA4 barely scratch the surface of that synth and I don't think they reflect on how good of a synth it really is. The Arturia Polybrute patches in SA4 though are really good and seem to compare well with the hardware version though.

      Thanks Randall. I have not posted any of my music yet. Long story, but mostly I have not because I see the current space as a way for big companies to make money off the backs of musicians. You either get so little amount of money per stream or you pay them $x per year in the hopes of maybe breaking even, but likely not. I will probably eventually put together an album or two, but it’s more of a long term goal. Right now the goal is to just grow the channel.
      I have written and mastered pretty much any music you do hear on the channel, so if you like something let me know. Always appreciate your feedback.

    • @arcticfoxstudios2018
      @arcticfoxstudios2018  Рік тому +1

      I have both, but they are slightly redundant. SA4 has a lot of modern synths that VV4 doesn't cover and all the upgrades with the UI and the proximity explorer were worth it to me. I only have VV3 and I chose not to upgrade to 4 when it came out. I'll probably upgrade to 5 when they revise it in a couple of years though.
      Between SA3 and VV3, I probably use them both about the same but I love synths, so if you really like synths, then I think you'll probably like it.

    So, being new to UVI, you either need Workstation or Falcon to use this, correct? Sort of like using Kontakt instruments? I see that Workstation is free. What is the benefit of getting Falcon, just to use SA4? Do you lose anything by just using this with Workstation? Curious what your thoughts are and thank you for the detailed video.

    • @arcticfoxstudios2018
      @arcticfoxstudios2018  Рік тому +1

      You can use workstation and you don’t lose anything. SA4 is a great introduction to UVI products if you don’t own any. For the amount of stuff you get, it’s super cheap.
      It is definitely like Kontakt except that Falcon is way more powerful than Kontakt for sound design purposes. Falcon also has a somewhat steep learning curve, but well worth the time investment if you are at all interested in sound synthesis and effects. I think it’s worth it even if you just use Falcon to add effects to other UVI instruments because there are over 100 to choose from and they rival pretty much anything else on the market in terms of sound quality. Hope that helps.

    • @garyhendrie4001
      @garyhendrie4001 Рік тому +1

      Falcon is absolutely incredible, there is virtually nothkng it can't do. If you find something they have a range of add-ons that will probably remedy that. Workstation is little more than a hub for playback of such devices as SA4. If you are financially in a position to get it you should, you won't be disappointed.

    I have a question or two. Unlike synth emulation software, I hear tha UVI has recorded the actual analog synths (where they are Analog, but you get it) so that the synths' sounds would be like hearing the synth itself, broadcast through speakers. Dead-on for all practical purposes. I don't know a lot about sampling, but.... When starting with, say, a Waldorf Q preset, and you manipulate the patch with UVI's UI, I guess it still has the Q sound characteristics, right? 15 years ago, I owned 'em all. Within reason....I didn't own $25,000 CS 80; I owned a CS60, though. My ONLY point, to name but one: I owned a mint Andromeda. I still miss that one. In listening to some sort of Poor UVI reviews of MISSION 6 (like, could you TURN OFF the FREAKING ARP for 30 seconds?) I wasn't hearing the Analog Oomph and HEFT so much. So, I wondered: If someone chose awful presets to record, then, yeah, you're hearing the sound of the REAL synth, but its a sound you'd never hope to hear the real item make in the first place. So, being ignorant about it, I wondered if you could taking the settings Wherever...to your liking....and still have an Andromeda or A Microwave or whichever at the end of your noodling. I should go away and return once I've learned how to write One Line comments like everybody else.

      Lol, your last sentence made me laugh. Yes, I agree that the limited amount of samples on some of these machines won't give you a full taste of what the machine can do. I have a Korg Triton and SA4 has only a handful of Triton samples and most of them are not really that great. Some of the pads I have on the actual Triton blow away a majority of the soft synths that I own too. I also have a Polybrute and the Polybrute samples in SA4 are really good and I feel like they captured the essence of that machine really well.
      I guess I would say that it's not a perfect situation and some of the samples are better than others. I tend to favor samplers over the digital versions of specific hardware like Arturia's V Collection and PianoTeq's model though. I think as good as those pieces of software are, they are still missing that oomph that you talking about. Pianoteq in particular feels like its missing something when I use it.

      Se in @@arcticfoxstudios2018 Thanks for ghtful reply. I GET IT when I buy a spitfire library or 100 people bowing violins. You play your keys and hear them play. Key switches handle the articulation changes and keys up top--maybe--bow noises, chatter, whatever they choose to record. Zimmer piano a good case in point---a lot of content of him basically manhandling the piano bench, the LID on the grand and OTHER. Kind of silly. When Omnispere man did Keyscapes, it's like 160 GB or some thing. I mad that up, but , it's BIG ASS. Anyway, my point is a complex SYNTH is as variable as 14 different types of pianos. So, it's $149, it covers 200 synths or whatever,, so it's gonna be like the HARDWARE LIBRARY that Omnisphere Man (same man, I know....name escapes me) did...the D60 got like 10 or 20 presets. Of course, HE (Eric P.) was trying to integrate OMNIS. with folks who OWN a D50. OK, I"m going to slink ack to my cage now.
      I'll say this: THEY are close now, but....the day will come when enumeration is indistinguishable from the real BUTTER. IN a mix, it's already there. And the guys....SAMPLEMODELING...their horns are as REAL as real gets. Best thing, I guess is: win the lottery and buy all the damned synths again...
