Hi Rick, Thanks for the enlightening sound demo of Fender Tex-Mex Telecaster pickups....I have a 2015 Tele (MIM) with really hot p/u's (neck 7.4 Bridge 10.6 approx)....going to replace with Fender Tex-Mex ($99 CDN) based on your sound bites....
Finally somebody who can demonstrate these Telecasters CLEAN for the most part..hate the shredders trying to show off and never get the real TELE sound.
Hm. The search might be over! These sound really smooth, slightly compressed perhaps, and great with drive. They might not be quite as dynamic as some, but there's no hint of anything harsh or brittle. Great tone.
Yes. That's pretty accurate. I switched to Fender V-Mod Tele pickups on this one after a while. They are a little bit hotter. I really like the Tex Mex pickups though. Thanks!
@@RickRomanelli Thank you so much for your reply. I've now watched your V Mod video too. They sound great! I'm getting a little hooked though, on the La Brea set by Seymour!
IMO Bare bones Telecaster’s with Tex Mex pickups are all a man needs. One can’t get any better than that… Great guitar and congratulations on doing the switch. It sounds as it should 👍🏻👍🏻
I agree.you have to start with a clean tone even if you add overdrive.I would like to hear it without delay.i don't believe they have improved telecaster after all these years.
Isn't the bridge pu (or both) basically a tex mex ? I currently have a bridge from a road worn, forget the # but it's the same as tex mex I read somewhere?
@@RickRomanelli I was suprised by the tex mex bridge pu, very strong. Ever try the Fender Original '52 set ? Bought a set gonna try them but suspect I'll go back to the road worn/tex mex at least in the bridge.
Thanks. Not sure what you mean by honesty but my opinion will always be honest. I'll be honest again. I took out the Tex Mex pickups and put in some Fender V-mod Tele pickups. They sound a bit beefier. Thank you for watching.
@@RickRomanelli I've decided to buy them for one of my own Teles. I've been looking for something that still has the unmistakable bright tele twang with just a little more oomph and they seem to do that really well. Based on all the demos I've watched, they always sound great.
Don't know why tex mex pickups get such bad rap, I put them in a squire, and they not only sound vintage clean, but growl with a little over drive, just hot enough for me,and you can get that Tele twang and sparkle your looking for, I'm a big fan of these pickups, but for some reason, people think you have to spend big bucks,to get that vintage tone,I don't get it,I think a lot of people aren't running these thru a tube amp, they may sound different, beats me, tex mex are my favorite pickups.
I have my suspicions that the Tex Mex pickups that come in the Roadworn are different than those bought aftermarket. The bridge sounds really great. The neck is a little muddy but still a Tele neck pickup, which is my favorite. I'm about to install some Pure Vintage '64s in a thinline tele. I'm excited. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I think you arrived at the right answer. If tex mex pups cost $200 people would sing they're praises. I's really strange how we listen with our wallets and not our ears
Thanks for that video. I bought the Road Worn Tele and it has the Tex Mex pickups. I'm glad I bought the right Tele so that I don't have to spend extra money to make it sound good.
As country picker I couldn't agree more. As a matter of fact in my humble opinion they will do the job for most any style. By the way dude appreciate your not blowing our ears out with the bull shit shredding that most of these head banger's are doing on you tube. Oh yes nice licks by the way....$54.00 at musicians friend for these babies...

I can never get the real shredder sound, so I guess it's all even. Thanks for watching and for the kind words.

Sounds like a classic Tele. Thanks for the video..🙃

Yes. That's the idea of the video. I took out the expensive Barden pickups and put the stock Tex Mex back in. I liked it better.

Cool

I'm not sure either. I have Tex Mex Strat pickups and they are really good as well. Thanks for watching.

I’m putting together the exact same Tele rig with the Tex Mex’s. What value capacitor did you use wiring them in?
I left the stock Fender cap. I put in V Mod pickups since this video. I like those too. Thanks for watching!
I put the Tex Mex in my Tele and they sound great!
I don't know about his pickups, but he was not too bad as a vice president...

It's definitely a great Tele. I'll bet you have the same wear marks as I do. 🎸
sounds great Rick
They sound real good
Thanks, Marshall. This is a great tele.
