The human/tallman thing is comes down to a difference in cultural terms in-universe. Tallman is just the term for regular humans in the part of the world that laios & co are from, and on the island that the story takes place on, because they use "human" as an umbrella term for all of the humanoid races - elves, half-foots, dwarves and gnomes. This is different in the east where Toshiro is from, since they only have regular humans and ogres like Inutade. To them, ogres are ogres and humans are humans, and they don't consider elves, dwarves, gnomes etc to be "humans" like in the west.

They dont make it as clear like in the manga imo. U can hear kabru says something to Laios in that scene but its too soft and too fast i think most anime viewers would missed it 😂

Kabru tells them about their race but identified as humans. He goes on saying tallfolk, halffoots, elves, dwarfs and gnomes have same amount of bones in their body while faces like orcs, kobolds and similar have less or more bones. The ninja girls ask him about oni and in this case oni are labeled as humans since the horns in their head isn’t a separate bone, it grows from the skull.

The manga is 14 volumes so the end of this season will get to about the halfway mark. We would HAVE to have another season with 2 cours at minimum to cover the entire story of the manga. therefore, there's definitely enough content left for a bunch more episodes

Yep. Season 1 almost certainly ends on manga chapter 52, and there are 97 chapters total, so we will likely get a second season with 2 cours just like this one. Maybe a few less episodes, because there's a lot of action towards the end which naturally moves faster in animation form.

Everyone we would normally just call "human" in any other setting is a tallman too, so Laios, Falin, Kabru, Shuro, the island lord, the twins Kiki and Kaka and so on are all tallmans. Besides tallman, elf, gnome, dwarf and half foot, as OP mentioned, ogres are also considered humans. What unifies all these races is the same numbers of bones in their skeletons (the ogre's horns being part of their skull. Funnily enough, easterners like Shuro use a more familiar categorization, as they call only tallmans humans.
Oh there is EASILY enough content in the remaining 50 or so chapters to make another 2 cour season, 100%. If Trigger doesn't already have plans for the second season I'd be surprised
depends cause the next anime they currently working on is panty & stocking s2 after fully getting rights to it from gainax. so we may not see s2 of delicious in dungeon till hard maybe mid next year or later unless they already rushed to working on s2 of this. some notes: the author of dungeon meshi ended it earlier (supposed it like 4-5 months) back in summer of 2023 to go play baldurs gate 3 official release... not joking,. she a huge crpg fan. so that may affect studio trigger animation time since they though they had more time to plan what scenes to animate. so they could have been forced to work on s2 because of the author early end. another note: despite early end she did tie up loose ends in adventurer bible volume 2 with hints of more to come.

While I vote Farcille, the options are OPEN. There's no true pairing. However. Lots of people have argued. Marcille desires to be the center part of a Touden sandwich. I can see them making another 12 to 18 episodes, but 24 would be too much.
Kabru is a tallman too, I understand sometimes he sounds like he's talking about other race, but it's just analysing. He's the same height as Falin, btw. And there's enough content to make at minimum another season with 24 episodes!
Shuro, Falin, Laios Kiki, Kaka and Rin are all Tall-men. Kabru is a also but he was raised by elves so.... I think of it like this. IRL, in prehistory, there were multiple human subspecies {Neanderthals, our own/Cro-magnon, Denisovans, etc} and the other races of this world, Gnomes, elves, dwarves, and half-foots and ogres could be compared to these ancient hominids {ironically, we would fit the role of Elves in this scenario}. All of these are ""human" in the broadest sense, but there's multiple subspecies. Demihumans {Orcs and kobolds} could be compared to much more archaic primates IRL.

“TallMan” in Delicious in Dungeon means “Human” in our world. And “Human” in DiD means “All People”. In this show, Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, HalfFoots and TallMan are only “Human” races. So, Kabru is the brown race, Shuro is the yellow races, though they are TallMan too. Reason they are called “TallMan” is they are taller than other races. Oh theres definitely a lot more left, id say the anime is about 60% into the manga since its past the halfway point, the finale would also need a LOT of hands on deck due to the sheer scale of what happens so its gonna take a while to produce. Manga is 97 chapters long & Izutsumi joining is chapter 42, this ep went up to ch 46 & and they're doing around 2-3 chapters per episode on average.
You saw the elves in the first OP... starting with episode 1. Also the winged lion. So yes, they've been teasing them for a long time now, exactly how Frieren did it with Serie (also an elf, lol), showing her in the OP despite her first appearing in episode 20 in the anime.

Season 1 covers half the manga (about 52 chapters) and the manga has already finished at, I think, 99 chapters. So the anime will most likely end by season 2, and maybe we'll get and extra one or two episodes 🤞
People have explained already, but elves, dwarves, half-foot and tallmen are all considered "humans" here. To make it easier, compare Dwarves to Neanderthals (both have a naturally bulkier build and they used to hunt with short ranged weapons), and Tall-Men to Homosapiens (Generally taller, more widespread, and extremely adaptable). They are different "species" of humans, all in the same genus.

I strongly disagree that the closes to a relationship is fallin. Just people seeing what they want to see because of fan service which got bumped up to 11 in the anime. SPOILERS I'd also argue the manga has more hints towards a Laois/Marcille pairing as she starts to become closer and closer to him after the nightmare chapter. To the point where when she lists off characters in a regretful "OH NO WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE" Laois is the last name she calls after listing off the entire party, including fallin. Also this chapter in the manga could be used as evidence, but at the end of the day there's nothing in your face blatant, probably to allow people to ship who they want to ship.
Manga reader here! I think a second season with 24ish episodes would be the perfect amount of time to rap up what is left of the story (just from my memory of major arcs) but they could maybe stretch it to three if they want more filler episodes like the earlier half of this season. I don't think that's necessary personally, the arrival of the canaries really signifies the start of the story getting consistently lore heavy and daunting.
No spoilers but yeah there is enough content for a season 2 and even a big 1 hour last episode on season 2 too, besides the bonus stuff they can make OVA with, honestly speaking i didn't thought it would be possible to be on the mark we are right now with only 21 episodes

I already read the manga, good story. With the amount of content left, there should be one more season with 24-ish episodes (2 cours) to finish the story. I'm so excited to see how they animate it.
There are three episodes left in the series that we're watching right now. The series will end without completing the story, as there have been no extreme alterations to the original manga. Based on the rest of the manga story, and the settings and spills created by the author, we can say that there are about 13 to 24 episodes left in stock to be made into anime. The sales of the video package are not outstanding, but the online video distribution is very strong, so a sequel is probably being secretly planned. (The fact that the video of both the first opening song and the current one contain spoilers leading up to the final episode of the original story, suggests that production staff intending to animate the story to its conclusion.) It is unclear whether the sequel will take the form of a new series, or a theatrical anime as the conclusion of the series. It may be announced at the end of this series.
I would say by the end of the season they will hit half way mark, so there is easily enough stuff for another 24 series, and enough side stories for short season, or couple of movies.
There's enough material for a two-course second season, but noting more than that. That would be the perfect amount, this course already covered almost half of the manga, a second season would be a perfect closing season, no more, no less.
I don't think Marcille has any explicit romantic attraction to Laios (even Falin is maybe 50/50 at most) but they are the two people she's closest to in general.
Yea this does not fit in one season no way. It's gonna need 1,5-2,5 cours more to finish, depending on how in depth they want to go on stuff. My guess would be two cours + movie, tho there'd be problems with that too.

I've heard there's a whole second season coming, and while I agree there's no way they could finish the rest of the story in 3 episode... I don't know what they would do with a whole other 24 episodes on top of that, even if they expand on the very compressed ending in the manga. Indirectly, Laios likes Marcille with her flowing hair version of Marcille. Seeing this, Laios panicked afraid of being discovered by his party and wanted to immediately kill the Succubus Marcille because he thought that Chilchuk will prohibit romance in the party and Marcille would be annoyed by that. And it turned out that there was still something missing there, what the Succubus imitated was still not enough to make Laios get immobilized, so the Succubus change it appearance to Chimera Marcille with 4 dog heads, immobilized Laios and makes him blushing. That means there is still a "Monster" above Marcille as the most desired Laios, but as his Love Interest, is it be a Monster? Or a Marcille? Of course the answer is Marcille, as they are often get blushing.
16:00 yea about the yuri stuff,, remember when Marcille said about don't be ashamed from being touched by healing magic, that basically a healer like Fallin does with her ability, by being touchy. The bath scene just show how Fallin perform her healing spell, which considered yuri bait as by many, and Marcille being clingy is just how she show affection toward other girl as she shown that toward Namari and now Izutsumi too. Not against any ship, but the irony here is the yuri shipper and Shuro actually share a same braincell cause they see the touchy part of healing as an act of intimacy.

I think of it like this. IRL, in prehistory, there were multiple human subspecies {Neanderthals, our own/Cro-magnon, Denisovans, etc} and the other races of this world, Gnomes, elves, dwarves, and half-foots and ogres could be compared to these ancient hominids {ironically, we would fit the role of Elves in this scenario}. All of these are ""human" in the broadest sense, but there's multiple subspecies.
Demihumans {Orcs and kobolds} could be compared to much more archaic primates IRL.

Oh theres definitely a lot more left, id say the anime is about 60% into the manga since its past the halfway point, the finale would also need a LOT of hands on deck due to the sheer scale of what happens so its gonna take a while to produce. Manga is 97 chapters long & Izutsumi joining is chapter 42, this ep went up to ch 46 & and they're doing around 2-3 chapters per episode on average.
You saw the elves in the first OP... starting with episode 1. Also the winged lion. So yes, they've been teasing them for a long time now, exactly how Frieren did it with Serie (also an elf, lol), showing her in the OP despite her first appearing in episode 20 in the anime.

People have explained already, but elves, dwarves, half-foot and tallmen are all considered "humans" here. To make it easier, compare Dwarves to Neanderthals (both have a naturally bulkier build and they used to hunt with short ranged weapons), and Tall-Men to Homosapiens (Generally taller, more widespread, and extremely adaptable). They are different "species" of humans, all in the same genus.

I'd also argue the manga has more hints towards a Laois/Marcille pairing as she starts to become closer and closer to him after the nightmare chapter. To the point where when she lists off characters in a regretful "OH NO WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE" Laois is the last name she calls after listing off the entire party, including fallin. Also this chapter in the manga could be used as evidence, but at the end of the day there's nothing in your face blatant, probably to allow people to ship who they want to ship.

I think a second season with 24ish episodes would be the perfect amount of time to rap up what is left of the story (just from my memory of major arcs) but they could maybe stretch it to three if they want more filler episodes like the earlier half of this season. I don't think that's necessary personally, the arrival of the canaries really signifies the start of the story getting consistently lore heavy and daunting.

The bath scene just show how Fallin perform her healing spell, which considered yuri bait as by many, and Marcille being clingy is just how she show affection toward other girl as she shown that toward Namari and now Izutsumi too.

Just so you, marcille has no interest in laios and even hated him when she first met him, there are manga only side stories that show stuff like what-ifs in which laios is the one getting eaten and marcille is just like "he is pretty much dead, sorry falin, your brother is not coming back" and not going into the dungeon again (falin ends up going alone)
