I love the pose like a team shots.
I’m always happy to see Torchwick. He’s just a fun presence even when he’s making everything worse.
I love that Weiss was fighting Atlas mechs and Blake was fighting White Fang.

Got to love the one long take through the action. Showing off how far the animation has come even at this stage. Couldn’t have pulled that off at all in V1.

I also loved them using the instrumental "Time to say goodbye" while she used her dead friend's weapon to defend another.

Cinder's one of those characters I REALLY love to hate. She's so cruel and ruthless, but damn if she isn't putting on a show all the while.
Ruby's biggest strength, the thing that REALLY sets her apart is her ability to ignore all the padding and cut to the heart of whatever matter is at hand and I love that you picked up on that.
Sadly, that often goes along with her biggest weakness which is her tendency to rush into action without thinking about the consequences.
True. She does often act before thinking it through 🤗
There's also her strength of spirit to willingly embrace innocence even after having lost it, which is what makes her so charismatic and inspiring. (This one goes along her flaw of bottling stuff up way too much)
Ruby isn't naive, but she intentionally MAKES herself be naive, because she believes that brings the good out of herself and others. And that's not just incredibly hard to do, but also very admirable in the moral sense.
Kevin the wyvern: For thousands of years I lay dormant who has disturbed my slumber!

One point I just thought of. No one really SEES her using her time dilation since the battle with Roman in the mecha fight. But she's moving faster then even Ruby in some of these scenes. I think she's using time dilation alongside her other glyphs to give her short term superspeed.
That moment when Velvet took a picture of Ruby leading all the other students to safety in this "day that will be marked in history" always gime me chills, i'm sure that someday she will be recognized as that brave girl from the photo in the musseum.
Well, she had a good reason to take that photo.
I like that this chapter has not one but two "Avengers, Assemble!" moments.

I like that you guys like Ruby. I feel like people like the other characters way more than her, enough to where they forget that Ruby is even a character. Ruby has always been my favorite!

She's one of the best girls even to this day. *Especially* after the most recent volume (No spoilers though obviously)
I feel like part of the reason people forget about Ruby is because the writers forget to give Ruby development/things to do sometimes. They give a lot of typically main-character moments and development to Jaune instead.
Same she's been my favorite since I discovered rwby in 2020
I'm impressed they picked out the strategy in all the chaos, Cinder watching for the carnage to get so bad that Ozpin had no choice but go out and get Pyrrha.

Something I'm not sure anyone's pointed out yet, but if you look back at the footage you have on screen at timestamp 1:53, up at the top of the screen you'll see a person clad in green flying across the screen. That's Roy Stallion, who was a member of Team BRNZ, who JNPR fought in their first round of the tournament. He was the guy who had the saws and was fighting Pyrrha at one point. He... didn't exactly make it out of the Battle for Beacon.
Many people didn't make it out of Beacon that day.
Slight spoilers:
Ciel (the girl who was with Penny) is likely on that list too, considering we don't see her again in Volumes 7 or 8.

The coffin shaped weapon rockets were introduced early on in the show, just for this scene. The whole show was written out seasons ahead of creation so they could really keep things consistent from the beginning.
Actually, it's something that is still coming up that the rocket lockers were created for and then introduced throughout the series in order to make them natural.

From what I hear, several of the main reveals and plotpoints of Volumes 4, 6 and 9 were already planned out from the start of the series too. And from the way the story develops, it really looks to me like they already had a vague vision of all the story arcs and how the ending would go from the start too.
"Leave her alone" is still the best Ruby moment in the show. She's just watched her best friend die, and as far as she knows at this point Pyrrha genuinely might have made a mistake and killed her. But she finds a weapon and defends the defenceless, because she's always been a Huntress.
It's definitely the best Ruby moment in the show up to this point. I still think a certain scene in season 8 beats it (I won't detail it here to avoid spoilers but you can probably guess which line I'm talking about).

A great one, but I wouldn't say the best. Ruby has some incredible moments in the most recent Volumes.
Gen. Ironwood's gun is named "Due Process" which is a pretty awesome name, cold and detached, but also very clear about what it is there for, just like the man.
I actually didn't know that and I'm thinking about V7 and 8 now. Obviously not gonna go into detail because spoilers.

The Wyvern (creature type of the dragon at the end) has been nicknamed Kevin by the FNDM ;)

Quick rule of thumb, er, feet....Wyvern = wings & two legs. Dragon = four legs + wings.
Fun Facts
Fact 1: Team CRDL, Team NDGO and Team BRNZ are the only named teams which participated in the Vytal Festival but are not present in this episode. It is possible they choose to flee from the battle rather than fight the Grimm, or they simply were not present at Amity Colosseum at the outset. Near the beginning of the episode, Roy Stallion from Team BRNZ is seen being carried off by a Nevermore in the background. He was last seen at the fairgrounds standing behind Weiss and Blake during Cinder's broadcast in the previous episode, "PvP".
Fact 2: The "ORF_Suit.EXE" or "Iron Hilda" armor from the Rooster Teeth series X-Ray and Vav appears as an easter egg in the episode when Roman drops the androids out of the ship. The easter egg plays on the visual similarities between the AK-200s and the ORF armor.
Fact 3: RWBY Rex makes an appearance in the fairgrounds in a stand.
Fact 4: The fandom nicknamed the Dragon Kevin and the show creators decided to acknowledge it and started calling him Kevin as well. Since then all Grimm "Bosses" got a nickname.
Cardin is later seen with Qrow and Glynda in Vale, so he likely wasn't at Amity Collessium or Beacon to begin with.
What other Grimm have nicknames?
I remember the Nuckelavee, Monstra and Hound, but those are all too serious sounding so I'm not sure they're the ones you're referring to. (Nothing like Kevin)

Gotta give credit to Jessica Nigri, Cinder's VA. At the time Volume 3 was being produced, her schedule was so busy she only had a single, two-hour session to record *all* of her lines for the entire volume - and she delivered
7:30 Professor Port's weapon is a blunderbuss - the predecessor of today's shotguns.
Cinder got to be the worst character in the show, along with Jessica nigri voice acting. Credit must be earnt and she's aweful

So uh, Penny was capable of producing an aura, which means she had a soul. She wasn't just an android.
What Ruby did was not her cape, it was her semblance. They haven’t explained it fully, but the gist of it is that she can break her self down into the rose like particles that can move incredibly fast for a certain distance.
Which is the dumbest retcon they've done.
@AutumnWoodham No, the dumbest one is pretty much completely erasing Weiss' time dilation glyph from the story after Volume 2.
You notice how everyone followed Ruby? When Sun asked what they should do she immediately asked for his scroll. Then, after getting her weapon, she's the one who made a decision then and there for the entire group. She didn't try arguing with them, she instead told everyone, "Let's go!" No one questioned her after she gave the command either. They immediately went, even though they're from all of the different schools. They could recognize someone with the voice of authority and were trained to follow it. (lol I typed this up before finishing the reaction. It looks like we're all on the same page and I'm glad that you are one of the few reactors who have noticed this and commented on it.)
It's this ability to make an instant decision, come up with a plan, and get people moving without questions, that makes RWBY such a natural leader. This is why Ozpin knew that he had to have her in his school, and let her in 2 years early.
She may not be good in hand-to-hand combat against other humans, but she definitely knows how to take care of grimm and knows how to lead others.

Again, you have Ruby being the kind of leader who won't just send people into harm's way. She saw what happened, considered it, made a plan, and decided on enacting that plan, all in a split second. Definitely a leader there. The others were still coming to terms with seeing his plane drop from the sky while she was deciding and acting. I definitely consider Ruby to be the best leader in the series.

A blunderbuss and axe is what professor Port was wielding which looks AWESOME....but it's probably impractical.
Also I love the confidence they both had like "one last fight" . They figured if they're dying at least they'll do it fighting
Roman does get his hands dirty put probably not often. He has the White Fang working with him and people are scares of Roman anyway. Plus Neo

@@alexlim864 makes sense too. He'd probably say that that makes it more challenging so therefore more fun. To us the weapon is really ineffective to him it's a disadvantage

Prof. Port's weapon is a blunderbuss/axe combo. A blunderbuss is basically a shotgun from the same era as the musket.
Btw ik people had said it in previous episode reactions but just in case you missed the comment Weiss's semblance are the glyphs she creates what she was having trouble with is summoning which is just one thing she can do with her glyphs
Did anyone else recognize the sound effects the soldiers were using with their guns? They sounded like the plasma pistol sounds from Halo 1 lol

But tbf it’s very similar to when these first came out because the weekly wait for the next episode was torture and anticipation for what would happen next
Also ironwood saying that it’s okay to run away and save yourself is honestly a really kind gesture. These aren’t soldiers they’re children who are still training. This shouldn’t have happened and that he acknowledged that it’s okay to not throw yourself towards a potential death is a really nice touch
Rwby gets a lot of criticism for its writing but it does emotional moments extremely well

I think you can agree that this episode can be summed up with one word: Escalation. Things just keep getting worse for our heroes, while Cinder’s plan keeps on firing.
Grimm swarm of unprecedented size? Check.
The White Fang attacking Beacon, led by Adam? Check.
Hacking the Atlas robot army and turning them against the defenders? Check.
Widespread panic throughout the city? Check.
Awakening an ancient kingdom-killing Grimm that spawns more Grimm? Okay, this is getting ridiculous.
And just think, there’s still two whole episodes to go.

Weiss is struggling with her summoning specifically with her glyphs. She's a master with all her other glyphs but the summoning glyph, that her sister showed off with summoning a Beowolf Grimm, is what she truly can't do... yet.

I think we need to explain something - Penny was killed. Recall what she said in V2 - I am the world’s first synthetic person capable of generating an Aura. When Pyrrha destroyed her body, it also destroyed her Aura, or soul. Even if you can put her back together physically, how do you recreate someone’s soul - the thing that makes them them? It would be like reanimating a corpse.

I must be the only person to like Adam. His design, weapon, attitude... he wanted what was best for his tribe, by any means necessary.
And releasing a horde of Grimm on a largely innocent town is best for his tribe... how exactly?
I mean, the White Fang joining the attack on Beacon and Vale does stop them all getting wrecked by Cinder? That said, Adam is clearly relishing the opportunity and enjoying himself a lot (watch closely how Grimm behave around him in the upcoming episode).
I do get liking Adam's character design, but actually liking the character? Hard pass. If someone told me that in real life I would be worried.

Professor Ports weapon is a double bladed battle axe with a blunderbuss for a handle. I hands down the most impractical yet awesome weapon in the show lol
And the only one other than Jaune's and Ironwoods that existed in real life. Except the real world version was a single blade axe and the blade was attached to the muzzle like a bayonet.
Just so you know what to call it the fandom has named the Wyvern Kevin XD
Wiess has always been good at fighting. Do you guys not remember the train fight, or the mech fight? Her glyphs have been shown doing all that stuff before.
Also, don't diss Torchwick like that either! Man literally fought Blake AND Sun together and had them on the ropes. He's fought in nearly in all his appearances so far in fact.
The name you're looking for for Ports weapon is a blunderbuss. Well, blunder-axe in this case. We see it in season 1 on the wall of his classroom. It's probably the most awkward to use weapon we've seen.
And yes, that aerial re-direct/leap move of Ruby's was her semblance. Her "speed" is a little difficult to understand at first, and will get further clarification down the road. You'll also see her using it just like that a lot more from now on too.

jaune being the one to hand pyrrah her weapons and saying "we have to make sure they don't take anyone else" is a detail so messed up my fan brain hates it but my author brain eats that sh*t up!

The gun you see is a combo of a axe and blunderbus.....old fashion shotgun cause 1could load it with many metal pellets or sometimes scraps and debris....was commonly used by pirates....

Man. Irondad is so great. To the point you can put a metal strip on Gigachads forehead via crappy photoshop edits and its just him. Im pretty sure he predated the Gigachad meme era too. So he is unofficially the origin.
Just remember. All this time. Mercury is the one villain that did next to nothing. Hes just smug and chill with a lot of stuff but i mean...when youre raised to be an assassin by an assassin, you probably dont have a lot of empathy. Emerald on the other hand? Yeah she should feel bad. She was the toxic simp before simp became a mainstream word.
Pretty sure he killed that Faunus in the bookstore in the opening scene of V2. And he helped frame Yang. And he figured out Pyrrha's powers and fighting style so that Cinder could exploit them. And kept Ruby from being able to intervene and save Penny. I dunno feels like he's done quite a lot!
Can't wait for my fav fight scene next episode. Without spoilers, when something awesome happens, keep in mind the stances, how their body is posed while attacking.

- An android with a SOUL, Bethany.
- I'd say Ironwood's firmness is his greatest strength - though a great strength can also be a great weakness.
- Function three of the virus: make all nearby Atlesian robots hostile.
- Something more terrifying than the Grimm: a bloodthirsty self-styled hero like Adam Taurus.
- Given that her pickpocketing occupation before joining Cinder required no bloodshed, it makes sense that...if any villain was to start having second thoughts by now, it would probably be Emerald.
- With all this havoc, of course Pyrrha and Ozpin would be forced to make their move. Just as Cinder hoped they would...and that's CHECK.
BTW, if you thought this episode was doom city, you have not seen ANYTHING yet

Love the avengers assemble moment; it's a shame they weren't already doing the disintigrating thing in volume one, when Ruby beheaded her own nevermore. Port's weapon is a blunderbuss-axe; meanwhile, Ironwood's weapon is... just a gun!? Setting aside that stormtrooper moment, It's odd how OP Weiss is in this chapter. Perhaps she realised the haste glyph is better used against a mob of weaklings. Regardless, yeah, Adam is literally The Worst.
