Same. I bought a truck with a smaller bed, and I was all "How the hell am I going to get my gravel bike in there. The front wheel doesn't come off!" My friend rolled his eyes and sent me this video. 😂
Hey Trek, the switch tools 6mm allen key should be 5 to 10 mm longer. When you use it on the front wheel you can't spin it all 360 degrees when the axle is fully inserted because of the fork casing. you have to turn it 270 degrees, pull it before the casing and insert after it again . I already scratched my Zeb fork casing after turning the axle ca 2 full turns with the in out procedur and then proceed with turning the tool full 360 degrees plus. (Trek Slash 9.9 2021)
The one I got comes with an interference fit with the hex hole. I had to use an applier to pull it out really hard. Ended up scratched the frame paint and deformed the hex socket a little bit.
These axles need to be re-tightened regularly, especially if you are riding bumpy terrain. Nice how they say hand tighten to 10Nm, because we all have built in torque wrench sense. Had a rear wheel come out while riding, it never occurred to me to tighten before each ride having riden QR for years with never an issue. Trek refused to warranty my frame because user error. Thankfully my LBS took care of me.
Yeah fuck trek, they put some stupid road shocks on their mountain bikes even thought theyr'e wayyy too stiff for a full suspension bike. Why did they do it? Because the shocks that should be stock were only 800, and those other ones that you have to know enough about bikes to have them customize the bike so it even rides safely... Well those were 1300, so I think I know why they put them on there. Apparently not enough people know that because they were still selling. Did Trek care about people's safety? Nope.

Thank you for at least posting this, no mention in Trek owner's manual or retailer letting me know when selling bike to me. Only one tool would come with a bike? is there a way to remove rear thru axle tool to use on the front thru axle with my Emonda?
It's almost impossible to put 10 Nm on this small key. I've got a thru-axle on my bike and I realized that either I don't get enough torque (and clamping load) while using a small allen key on a multitool (similar to this Bontrager key) or the thru-axle won't loosen with a multitool after tightening it at home with a regular allen key or a torque wrench.
10 Nm = 88.5 in-lbs. In in other words, 88.5 lbs at 1" radius, 44.25 lbs at 2" radius, 29.5 lbs at 3" radius or 22.13 lbs at 4" radius. Just try to get 44.24 lbs with a t-wrench.
Trek Roscoe 8 2023/22. Front axel non/opposite brake side 10nm. Rear axel loosens on brake side 10nm (different than the front-wtf) 2:34 . Cause was loose rear axel. Easy fix and now check before riding same as front.
Cool tool on my checkpoint but how do I even know what 10nm is. I use my torque wrench. I appreciate this cool attached Allen key but it seems like it’s for emergency use or something only
