I love Ergo so much. After about 30 farmed up my favorite rolls are: Ticcu's - Wave Frame: All aerial sword attacks are qualified as light attacks so the enemy is both Primed and Detonated as part of the same heavy attack chain. Riskrunner - Wave Frame: If the group of adds doesnt die to the wave of Arc Light falling into the center of them doing your best Tesla Coil impression will probably do the trick. Telesto - Caster Frame: All telesto bolts spawn once the disc hits a target letting you spawn them on melee targets or that thing over there that you want dead. Polaris - Vortex: Build up those hits nice and quick to reach that ignition faster.
In case anyone's curious, the youtuber Aegis did some damage testing and found that an Ergo Sum with The Perfect Fifth (polaris lance) and Caster Frame, plus the transcendence buff, has greater DPS than any HEAVY sword in the game currently. The only caveat is that it might not be possible to proc the ignitions as a team at a scaling rate, so multiple people using it might decrease overall DPS, but still worth checking out Aegis' video for a deep dive.
For those not in the know, Ergo sum with caster frame and perfect 5th is as of right now the highest dps sword in the game, jumping past falling and bequest by a sizeable margin.
Surrounded rolls on falling and bequest are able to just barely eek out slightly higher dps… but surrounded is unreliable in boss dps scenarios, making Caster Polaris Ergo Sun better overall.
@11:14 enemies that get killed by the arc chain lightning also triggers the artifact mod giving you back ammo without having to spend anymore ammo. So with my waveframe version I use a heavy attack, then the free light attack to close the gap and the arc conductor cleans up any remaining adds around, (amplified running around will quickly clean up the whole room) and get back a ton of ammo.
I am not gonna use the artifact mod because I want the sword to feel and be used like how it’s supposed to be, I wanna have stuff that is possible to do without artifact mods, so I ain’t using it

My strongholds titan build has been going crazy with wolfpack rounds ergo sum. One ergo heavy and you can go crazy with light attacks with a sword with relentless strikes. You can easily get around 200 heavy ammo back
Something of note with the perfect fifth perk on a caster frame, if you are on a solar subclass with the fragment that increases applied scorch stacks, one heavy attack is enough to proc an ignition. Might be niche since the sword seems made for transcendence.
Casters don’t even have to hit a target?! I have a heavy frame so I’ve been dive bombing into crowds and the lightning finishes off whoever is still alive.
Perfect Fifth is incredibly powerful when used on a Solar subclass with a Caster Frame. One use of the projectile will proc the explosive twice, and with the fragment that increases Scorch stacks, it also causes an ignition. Though you won’t be on a Prismatic class, if you’re looking for the best possible damage, go with Perfect Fifth/Caster Frame/Solar subclass with fragment.
Of note for Unplanned Reprieve, the bolts are emitted based on the direction the heavy attack is swung. Cross had an aggressive frame, so it spawned them in a cluster, a vortex frame spawns them in a ring around you, etc.
Wave frame is wacky to watch because the bolts spawn out the tip of the wave when it reaches it's limit or hits a ground texture/ object it can't cross
Nobody mentioning that running double swords and the artifact mod is basically unlimited ammo since the heavy sword will give ergo ammo and visa versa.

I just don't see myself ever running Ergo Sum. But I love that Bungie is experimenting with crazy exotics.

I am hoping swords get a rework in terms of separating heavy swords and utility swords. Like casters should be in the special slot. Lightweights too. But heavy swords and stuff like falling guillotine should stay in the heavy.

I haven't seen if it happens without the chest piece or not but here it is. If you have the sword out and pop ascension, any kills that ascension gets will trigger whatever exotic perk you have on the weapon. Colony one was spawning robots and the cloudstrike one was summoning the lightning. I have videos I recorded of this happening too. Wave Frame Arc Conductor on Bakris is goated, easily my favorite build if im just farming overthrows for class items. Combine artifact mods and the catalyst i never run out of ammo. It is very very strong!
I'm gonna be real, I did not realize until this video that Ergo Sum could roll different frames. As a Hunter, I've been crushing on Still Hunt, so while I've collected quite a few copies of the sword, I hadn't looked closely at them yet.
I have the gjallersword lightweight frame which is awesome and a tikus wave frame grab the middle flag, head left use two invisible hunters to capture plates, before heading up top farm subjugators until you have twenty lives, clear focus one side tormentor then have a group of four hold down champions on that side keeping your lives up while team deals with left side tormentor. Doesn’t matter if your damage isn’t S tier if you keep the four people on right side farming champions on your third plate that’s endless time you just win, maybe keep a person on the jumping stone Resurrecting called DPS players.
I will say I'm glad I'm done with it, but I think it's unfair to anyone wanting the catalyst. A raid is one thing, 11 other people... not a good idea. You can rng it, how I got through. There are lots of unprepared people though, all getting in line.
I use an aggressive with telesto bolts for what seems like max damage in one hit. When I heavy slam on a boss, all the bolts pretty much immediately blow up on said boss. Works great in my banner of war build.
I have a wave frame with sacred flame and it’s pretty great, but after using a wave frame with arc conductor, IMO, it’s way better at ad clear than the other one
So, worth noting, I haven't counted them yet, but the vortex frame with Telesto does shoot out a lot of bolts, but its spread out in a circle. It makes great ad clear, but does not do well unless you are soloing that group by yourself.
I think it's safe to say that everyone should have at least one solid roll of Wolfpack, much like how everyone should have a GHorn. Just in case it's needed. Otherwise the Perfect Fifth on a build that already deals with Ignitions (and likely Facet of Ruin) would be pretty strong, alongside the good old bomb slam from the Telesto perk just on its own.
I have a void, jagged, sword-master, caster, with wolfpack. I think I am good. I also have a vortex with jagged, sword-master, & unplanned. Kind of want more arc conductor rolls because of that nice passive damage
heres something i wonder which exotic that doesnt have a catalyst which would u like to get one for me salvations grip i just love freezing a group then blowing them up
💯 that's what I did with banner shield ursa titan and supress grenade just spraying everything with all the debuffs and basically saying 'no' to most of the enemies. I laughed when I saw subjugators with thier arms over thier face from the suppression 😂😂
damn it bungie, I have dozens of ergos and didn't even realize the telesto perk was on them (almost all my voids have been colony perk and they're the ones I get the most of total) I just got my first one to drop last night and was surprised to see a perk I hadn't seen before
To add to the Telesto bolts, the formation seems to be different across all of the frames. I have Telesto on a lightweight frame, and the bolts are sent out in a horizontal line, following the arc of the swing!
I think the catalyst is a great thing for the sword. I used the titan prismatic grenade on a group of seven ads where 5 got suspended and both the suspend detonation got me ammo then the arc jolt got me more ammo even on the ones not suspended. Got about 23 or 26. I think the invisible CD that is mentioned here might be enough time between the two detonations.
The problem isn’t the catalyst itself because it’s actually pretty decent. The problem is that the catalyst perk doesn’t live up to the activity it comes from and the hype bungie themselves were making by saying we’ll want the rewards and it doesn’t even give that many materials
IMO if they gave Ergo Sum much more it would be insanely overpowered. Also probably hard to find something else that works with all the different combos.
Perfect 5th on a caster frame makes this the highest dps sword in the game. Better than bequest. Better than guillotine. Even though it’s a SPECIAL sword.
I have a Void Ergo with Telesto perk and I added the blessing in Pale Heart that reads "void final blows spawn void seekers". Try that with this Ergo if you have the same perk.
Sacred flame on the wave archetype has been fucking awesome. Run into a bunch of ads or even majors send the wave out and as the wave hits them start slicing and dicing causing ignitions that with the prismatic fragment for increased detonation sizes fucking nukes everything. I’ve been having so much fun with this sword.
Will be a while before I get that damn catalyst. Every minute you are in Excision GM you are playing Error Code Russian Roulette and there's no join in progress enabled, so you just have to get lucky that you are one of the few that make it to the end without getting error coded.
I think this is a cool exotic but I really haven't found a single use case yet. the transcendence related perks are kind of useless, it's so easy to build up without ergo sum that I have it ready for every single damage phase. I guess the only two rolls worth having are one wolfpack and one arc conductor for very niche scenarios
My first drop was a wave frame, with the telesto perk and I’ve rarely taken it off since. It’s so much fun for clearing ads and honestly doesn’t do terrible dmg either. Still hunting a good wolf roll tho 😭
Fun Fact: Perfect Fifth + Caster Frame + Ember of Ashes allows Ergo Sum to ignite targets with 1 heavy attack. To be specific, it creates 2 Perfect Fifth explosions and 1 Ignition.
"This weapon receives less ammo" and the catalyst gives a means of getting more ammo. It screams "We made a problem just to sell you a solution" and I'm not a fan of that at all.
The Riskrunner sword also procs Amplified so a prismatic build without another way to proc it can benefit from the damage reduction from the artifact perk. It's fun.
So basically wolfpack rounds for the few sword bosses and solar best is polaris, arc varients for add clear, the winner is void unplanned reprieve for single target probably with vortex, caster or wave frame?

I'm gonna be real, I did not realize until this video that Ergo Sum could roll different frames. As a Hunter, I've been crushing on Still Hunt, so while I've collected quite a few copies of the sword, I hadn't looked closely at them yet.
Relentless + Wolfpack gives you even more ammo btw. Basically rewind rounds sword edition
The ticus sword with aggressive frame is amazing for add clear, the heavy marks a large area
The Strombringer perk should proc on hit, man. It would be so cool if it did.
I picked up a caster frame ergo sum with unplanned reprieve on it. Solid sword
apparently Caster Polaris is the way to go, even beating frenzy surrounded guillotine in dps
I have the gjallersword lightweight frame which is awesome and a tikus wave frame
grab the middle flag, head left use two invisible hunters to capture plates, before heading up top farm subjugators until you have twenty lives, clear focus one side tormentor then have a group of four hold down champions on that side keeping your lives up while team deals with left side tormentor.
Lightweight for sacred flame does an aoe around you and procs it on everything within it, that’s my favorite combo so far
The catalyst alone makes it meta for transcendence focused builds.
Sacred flame with wave frame works great with glacier grenade shatter and solar ignition
I have been loving arc conductor Ergo with the Call sidearm
The Telesto perk on vortex spreads 10 bolts all around you so it’s significantly weaker for boss dmg than aggressive frame
I have a void, jagged, sword-master, caster, with wolfpack. I think I am good.
I also have a vortex with jagged, sword-master, & unplanned.
Kind of want more arc conductor rolls because of that nice passive damage
Wave Frame Telesto Ergo helped me through dual destiny. Also used it so much I assumed every ergo was wave Frame 😂
heres something i wonder
which exotic that doesnt have a catalyst
which would u like to get one
for me
salvations grip i just love freezing a group then blowing them up
Quick tip for GM mission, collective obligation crowd controls like its nobody's business
💯 that's what I did with banner shield ursa titan and supress grenade just spraying everything with all the debuffs and basically saying 'no' to most of the enemies. I laughed when I saw subjugators with thier arms over thier face from the suppression 😂😂
damn it bungie, I have dozens of ergos and didn't even realize the telesto perk was on them (almost all my voids have been colony perk and they're the ones I get the most of total) I just got my first one to drop last night and was surprised to see a perk I hadn't seen before
I landed a Void Caster frame, Jagged, Balanced guard, and insectoid robots, really fun to use especially with doom fang pauldrons
personally I've been loving telesto perk + lightweight frame
To add to the Telesto bolts, the formation seems to be different across all of the frames. I have Telesto on a lightweight frame, and the bolts are sent out in a horizontal line, following the arc of the swing!
I think the catalyst is a great thing for the sword. I used the titan prismatic grenade on a group of seven ads where 5 got suspended and both the suspend detonation got me ammo then the arc jolt got me more ammo even on the ones not suspended. Got about 23 or 26. I think the invisible CD that is mentioned here might be enough time between the two detonations.
Facet of sacrifice helps with the darkness regen, a few combo blow melees and back to slaying with ergo sum
I have the Wolfpack Rounds and Arc Conductor versions. I think I like Arc Conductor more.
Even though it’s a SPECIAL sword.
it's really tragic the exotic chainsaw sword isn't even in the conversation and was nerfed for some reason
Is it cool sure,is it worth your exotic slot no
I have a Void Ergo with Telesto perk and I added the blessing in Pale Heart that reads "void final blows spawn void seekers". Try that with this Ergo if you have the same perk.
Haven't tried it out yet, but I have a Wave Frame/Sacred Flame roll, and I'm eager to take it for a spin
My first one was a vortex frame with perfect fifth. Haven't used it much tbh but im still trying to get through quests and stuff.
That perk actually works ? I kept killing everything on the first hit so I didn't even notice it and switched to another build. I'll need to try again
Wait those count as ignitions?
I don't think there's detonations count as ignitions. Otherwise it would specifically state that it causes ignitions
Arc Conductor + Vortex Frame FTW
Will be a while before I get that damn catalyst. Every minute you are in Excision GM you are playing Error Code Russian Roulette and there's no join in progress enabled, so you just have to get lucky that you are one of the few that make it to the end without getting error coded.
I hope Bungie will add more melee weapons, maybe even a primary melee.
I would like to see more testing and what perk is best with what frame
Caster and Perfect 5th
Caster frame, swordmaster guard and Perfect Fifth is the best roll for DPS
@@Sero4 lmao I also just watched Aegis' video 🤣
1st one I got was a light frame telesto and it slaps.
Fun Fact: Perfect Fifth + Caster Frame + Ember of Ashes allows Ergo Sum to ignite targets with 1 heavy attack. To be specific, it creates 2 Perfect Fifth explosions and 1 Ignition.
At the cost of transcendence :(
"This weapon receives less ammo" and the catalyst gives a means of getting more ammo. It screams "We made a problem just to sell you a solution" and I'm not a fan of that at all.
The Riskrunner sword also procs Amplified so a prismatic build without another way to proc it can benefit from the damage reduction from the artifact perk. It's fun.
the caster + telesto does sound fun.
but im still gunna go wave frame wolfpack rounds though.
the 2 im gunna chase after
The stormbringer perk also procs on ascension kills if you have the ergo sum equipped
perfect fifth together with caster frame and the ember of char fragment gives ignition in 1 heavy attack
So is the exotic trait really random? Because i've gotten the same solar ticuu perk for about 10 rolls now and those chances seem pretty low.
I know it's not the best but The Colony roll is so insanely fun.
I guess this might catch on now
Great video, but I'm not using anything other than khvostov🤷🏾♂️
So basically wolfpack rounds for the few sword bosses and solar best is polaris, arc varients for add clear, the winner is void unplanned reprieve for single target probably with vortex, caster or wave frame?
So what I'm hearing is you get a WolfPack Sword with a team of all telestos. It could (if I'm right) melt errything.
