21:24 Just a side note, the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) requires handicap/wheelchair access in all public places, buildings, etc. When I lived/studied in Spain in 2007, I felt bad for those who were in wheelchairs or who had to use a walker because of all the uneven and bumpy streets. Plus, many buildings didn't have elevators/lifts either.
For the school bus, Bluebird is the bus manufacturer. First Student would be the bus company. If the school district doesn't contract bus services to a company like First Student, then it would have the name of the local school district on the side.
I wondered about that I live on the east coast and don't recall ever seeing a school bus without the county name (general public schools), city name (city operated public schools), or school name (larger private schools and almost solely the white activity bus version). It wouldn't surprise me if they exist I just have never encountered a contract school bus in my state. Something that every one I've ever known in the US that rode the bus to school takes for granted but never seen a European comment on is the bus number painted by the door and in multiple places around to Identify your bus from others since you could easily have 3 busses traveling the same route for elementary, middle and high school. Though mostly I think 2 busses are more common with middle and high school combined
You guys picked a great place for corn dogs!!! "Hot Dog on a Stick" sells the best Cherry Lemonade too!!! They squeeze the lemons visible to the public so you know you are getting The Real Deal!!!
To get a star on The Walk of Fame, you have to 1.) be nominated by a fan or management, 2) be part of the entertainment industry for 5 years, 3) pay a $250 application fee, 4) be involved in philantrophy, and 5) pay $75,000 to have the star created and installed.
Yes, that's the technical part of it. Basically, being a well known enough of a movie/tv celeb will get a star in a prime location. The ppl behind the scenes like director/producer or fringe of the entertainment industry get stars further out away from Hollywood center.
How do you explain Trump having one? He has never been part of the entertainment industry and definitely not involved in philanthropy.
@@MsChiefsfan-w4kmoney
@@MsChiefsfan-w4k He had that stupid TV show where he fired everyone..but it wasn't on for 5 years.... I can't help but think that rules get thrown out the window if you're rich enough. And in the meantime, Baby Peggy Montgomery who spent all of her childhood working in pictures in the 1920's still doesn't have a star because her family spent the money she earned and she couldn't afford one.
Huh? I'm not sure that's true
Idk if it's like this in the UK.. but, for instance, the man with the Ferrari.. if you had said " what a beautiful car, I've never seen one before" he would've probably just said something like " do you want to take a look inside?" . Even the school bus, providing there weren't any kids on board and the driver was there.." hello, we are not from the US but have seen these on video before. Can we take a peek in?" And they'd be happy to ablidge.
Across from where I used to work was Kingston Memory. The owner of which was worth millions if not billions of dollars, and drove some very nice cars. One day a blue Bugatti Veyron was parked out front in a coned off section with a lone guard watching over it. A minute later the owner came out and I said "what a beautiful car", then he said would you like to have a look in it. SURE! He rolled down the windows for me to have a better look, then he said you can get a better look if your sitting inside, as he opened the door. I gingerly got in the drivers seat as he exlpained some of the features, I had a good 2 or 3 minute look. Afterwards I was almost shaking, it's not everyday you get to sit in a $2 million dollar super car.
Don't be sorry James,.... I said it wrong too, when I first lived in L.A. .. Row day oh Drive. Glad you guys had fun. I always enjoy your videos. They're always a great watch. When Archie is a bit older, I hope your family has a chance to see the U.S National Parks together.
Yeah, "Rodeo Drive" seems to be one of the few times Anglo-Americans pronounce it closer to the original Spanish. I don't know why we don't also pronounce the cowboy livestock rodeos the same way.
I worked my a the Chinese Theater back in the late ‘70s. I went to Hollywood High School, which is just a block south of the theater.
Tony Curtis is a movie star from before yr & even my time. He is from the Marlyn Monroe era, very famous back then. He is the father of Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween movies, True Lies,)
They should watch Some Like It Hot.
The movie Clueless introduced me to Tony Curtis. 🤣
He was born Bernard Schwartz
@@JustMe-dc6ks
I love that movie and have seen it several times. It's saved as a favorite on my TV, now, through one of the streaming channels. 🙂
Beverly Hills, especially where you were walking, is notorious for having one style mansion next to another giant house in a completely different style!
Glad you liked my city. Out of many reasons why I like living here, the scenery and nature is one. I’m 34 and was born and raised here. I’m from the San Fernando Valley part.
Archie is so cute!!! Love his little hats 🧢💗 You guys are so fun - thanks for sharing your adventures with us!!
James you're a UA-cam sensation, you should have bought Millie a small expensive bauble on Rodeo Drive!!!!
I grew up in L.A and worked in Hollywood when I was in high school. I can't believe how much it's changed. Beverly hills has always been snooty but even that's changed a lot. The las time I went to the pier there was no lower level. I guess I'll have to go there one day to see for myself. I'm glad y'all enjoyed my city I grew up in, Thanks so much for sharing.
Most who live in Beverly Hills aren't the BIG movie/tv stars. Just mostly behind the scenes industry ppl, B, C level celebs, old Hollywood families or just rich ppl.
Tony Curtis is a LEGEND
If only for "Yonduh lies my fadda's palace."
RT 66 Starts in Chicago IL and ends at Santa Monica CA
And yet its not a one way highway.
The reason there are lifts everywhere is because it's the law. The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requires all public accommodations to be handicap accessible.
14:50 is a 1959 Cadillac my mom had a 1960 Cadillac 19ft long( 5.7 meters) 2.5 tons 4 door had a 390 V8 automatic transmission powder blue it was our family car for 20 years
It’s delightful that you are so charmed by a school bus.
Thank you for visiting our country. I'm not sure that LA would have been my first choice. Thank you for bringing your child, I'm not sure that he/she will remember the trip but you brought the child. Many years ago, I was able to take my family to Europe for about a month. My children don't remember everything about the trip but they do remember some of it. Again, thank you!
Millie, my daughter would love Archie's stroller. Great sun protection for the little guy.
If you get Watermelon put salt on it. It unleashes the flavor that makes it so delicious.
Rodeo Road is beautiful during Christmas.
Even when it’s not Christmas, The palm trees along rodeo Drive and Santa Monica Blvd. are lit up.
Glad you enjoyed SoCal!! ☀️🌊🌴
You do know that the road bridge behind you as you are starting down the Santa Monica Peir at 17:34 is the start/end of Route 66!
When I went to the area in front of the Chinese Theater, there were some interesting handprints in there. I found that my hand was the same size as Humphrey Bogart's. I think there were also some "prints" from C-3PO and R2-D2.
He was saying the initials R.J.
Terrys Black and now Ro-De-O drive 🤣🤣
When you were doing the walk of fame, did you see the stars' handprints at the Chinese Theater?
Seeing the locations from GTA 5 is cool to see in real life
6:00 Oh man, so many GTA V flashbacks.
There used to be an Archie comic strip, 1950's-'70's I think. Archie was a red head in the comic. Other characters were Jughead, Betty, Veronica, Reggie and others. 2008 runner up for American Idol was David Archuleta and his nickname is Archie which his fans affectionately call him. I'm sure there are other examples of Archie I'm unaware of.
The character Archie Bunker from the 1970's TV show All in the Family.
Archie comics are still going currently (show "Riverdale" is based on them)
Archie Leach (Cary Grant)
My heart dropped a bit when they didn't get more excited by Keanu Reeves' star because I would have laid down on it and wriggled around. I named one of my cats Keanu. Also down on the Santa Monica pier the buskers were playing an instrumental version of Hotel California which I don't think the Beasley's noticed. It was a great rendition.
I grew up there, Venice and Santa Monica for several years in the late 1950's.
Route 66 actually ends at the intersection of Lincoln and Olympic technically. The highway route it was laid over in Los Angeles had been the Will Rogers Highway. That old route has a marker at Santa Monica Blvd and Ocean right along the coast. The Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce after the fact "moved" the end of Route 66 (long after it was decommissioned) to Ocean Blvd and the Pier because Lincoln and Olympic has no visual appeal. The sign saying the end of Route 66 on the pier is only for a photo opportunity.
During the life of Route 66 it's Los Angeles ending point changed several times. So you can visit multiple ends of the route if you have an interest.
The Chicago end was also changed when they made Jackson Boulevard and Adams Street one way roads. They made Adams face west and Jackson going east so they had to move the start from Jackson to Adams.
When you wrote Santa Monica Blvd., you were on route 66. Besides the signs that say historic route 66, they’re also poles marking the route that were added a few years ago when part of Santa Monica Blvd. was revamped.
Standing and eating Watermelon oblivios to the fact that they are in front of the famous Dolby Theater 12:52
Basically Route 66 “starts” in Chicago and ends in Santa Monica. There are people who still travel Route 66 for nostalgic reasons. There are parts of it that almost no one drives.
R.J. are just initials of a name (e.g. Reggie James, etc.). You get a Hollywood Star for being notable in Entertainment (Movies, Music, Dance, Broadcasting, etc.)
NOTE : First Student operates yellow school buses for many school districts in the UK. [Look up : First Student UK] The first few imported were right hand drive models manufactured by Blue Bird in the US. Later versions were built in Turkey.
It's weird to me that they have a brand name on the side of a school bus. I've never seen a school bus with anything other than the school district's name wherever I was painted on the side.
You've never seen Stoney Curtis on the Flintstones 😂
you guys should go to universal studios hollywood
The vlog is on the channel ❤️
You guys should go visit the Grove/Farmers market, it's very close to where you're at
If you have seen the movie "Lost Boys" the pier is where the carousel seen was filmed. We saw it when we were there a few years ago. The pier burger was okay.
Lost Boys was filmed in Santa Cruz.
My daughter has attended several walk of fame ceremonies when new inductees were getting their stars
I just knew you'd say Rodeo wrong. 😂
The constant apologizing for Rodeo is almost as funny as Mr and Mrs H constantly saying BOTH the US and UK pronunciations for "Tomato". Totally unnecessary, but hilarious with it's persistence!
ro-DAY-o is the correct Spanish pronunciation. Rodeo is in i's origin, a Spanish word. Us Yankees butchered it in our own Yankee way pronouncing it ro dee yo. So they are just respecting the regional pronunciations ... but yr right, it is funny.
Meep Meep
Blue Bird is the grand of bus. They make almost all school busses
Hats, check! Sunglasses, check! Sunscreen, check! You look like real Californians. Glad you had a good time! Comeback and see us again....😊
Rodeo Drive is pronounce Ro DAY o Dr, with the on the middle syllable. It's actually using the Spanish pronunciation for the word rodeo. It's just minor point, but nobody in America would pronounce it ro'deeo. I hope that you enjoyed yourself in our city and the City of Beverly Hills.
West Coaster on the Santa Monica pier is actually a D. H. Morgan custom family coaster with two helixes and a few bunny hills. It’s a very tame ride. It’s not smiler or wicker man at Alton towers. Honestly I went on every coaster at sea world and they are more thrilling than west coaster.
Millie👀👀👀🤘💪🏆
In the souvenir shops, you can buy yourself a replica of the Oscar statue
It’s safe to go into the water at most SoCal beaches, but not Ocean Beach in SF. Seriously, it’s OK to let the water rush over your feet, but do not wade out even as high as your knees.
We used to at Ocean beach all the time in the 80's. Has it turned feral?
Millie is always so dainty biting into corndogs and such
I hope you know those guys on the beach. Don't let people follow you around all over the place. Stay safe.
Route 66 starts in Chicago, Illinois.
Santa Monica used to be an outpost of a lot of British ex-pats. For all I know it may still be.
Ro-DAY-o Drive 🤣
Wearing a Dodgers' hat that's good!
There are currently 2,725 stars on the Hollywood walk of fame. They’re not all in one spot.
How fun; this is more than I've seen of Beverly Hills in my life, and I'm a native of L.A. The art and architecture are so elegant. They do similar in upscale Las Vegas resorts, too. I'm glad you found that Hollywood sign photo spot! I took that photo of a friend with her in focus, then with the sign in focus, then cut the two parts together for the perfect shot. Thank you for the tour! I'm a little old to sight-see much, anymore.
No. Ketchup. On. Hot. Dogs. (Especially corn dogs, as the batter is usually sweet.)
YAY, you actually got to have corn dogs from "Hot Dog on a Stick", they have some of the best corn dogs and cheese sticks, but their fresh squeezed Lemonade is AWESOME! I hope you ordered one? LOL Blazing Saddles is a classic American comedy directed by Mel Brooks Staring Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder and many other famous comedians. A movie like Blazing Saddles could not be made today, because it is so politically incorrect. Actually, the movie pokes fun of all the stereotypes, the main protagonist is Lamarr a ....... Nice to see you had a nice time along the Hollywood walk of fame!
This is my kind of environment. Yeah, a bit touristy in areas, but also mixed with some natural beauty with the beaches as well. For as much traveling as I've done, I've never ventured out west. California is definitely on the list.
I'm from Illinois, raised in California, Lived in Texas (Houston & San Marcos), and have driven to Vancouver From Los Angeles. Seen most of the East Coast. And drove from New Jersey to Houston. Visited most of the East Coast & Montreal & Quebec City If You visit The U.S. Come to California, I believe California blows away any state when it comes to diversity in almost every way. Los Angeles County alone- Beautiful Beaches, Coastal Mountains, Pine Forest, Desert, Multiple Valleys with different climates, And an actual freaking island!!!- is more diverse than most countries. Everyone tries to portray California like it's all skid row... Yes, there are problems, but mile per mile I would put California against any COUNTRY let alone any state. Texas weather is horrible & everything sticks to your body. Live there for years not one single day of dry weather!!! Whereas in Los Angeles, I woke up earlier in the year for about 100 days straight to perfect weather!!!! About (70-83 degrees/ 21- 29 Celsius) low humidity. Trigger Warning: NOT EVERYTHING in Texas is bigger!!! Not a brag or a put-down, just plain facts!!! Sequoia National Park contains the largest living tree. Its trunk is (102 feet/ 31meters) in circumference, Redwood State & National Park contains The Tallest tree in the world (380ft/115Meters), Inyo National Forest contains The Oldest Tree in the World at 4'855 years old, Yosemite National Parks contains North America's Tallest Waterfalls, dropping (4,425 Feet/739 Meters), and El Capitan - at more than (3,000 ft/914 meters high and (1 mile/1.6 kilometers) wide is the tallest exposed vertical face of granite on Earth, Death Valley is The hottest place on Earth (130 Fahrenheit/54 Celsius) and Lowest point in the US at ( 282 feet/ 85 meters) below Sea level. And only (107 miles/ 172 kilometers) away to the West is Mount Whitney (14,505 feet/4,421 meters) the highest point in the contiguous U.S. States. California contains the Most National Parks (9), California contains The Most State Parks (280), and California contains the most National Monuments - Lowly tie with Arizona - at (18). Hollywood Bowl is the world’s largest outdoor amphitheater..... Do you like fishing?????? The diversity of California's Blue Ribbon Waters- Hot Creek, Hat Creek, Walker, Truckee, Yuba, Pit, Fall, McCloud, Upper Sacramento, Lower Sacramento, and Trinity Rivers- Is arguably unmatched in the US, if not The World. The Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta has (1,100 miles/1,770 Kilometers) of rivers and contains White Sturgeon - The largest Freshwater Fish in North America - (Average Size: 79 Inches/200cm), The San Francisco Bay Watershed covers more than (75,000 square miles/194,000 square kilometers) including the largest estuary on The West Coast of North and South America. Lake Tahoe is The largest alpine lake in North America. Most California Rivers are very clear to crystal clear. California Coast is (840 miles/1351 kilometers) of some of the world's most beautiful beaches and rugged coastline including Giant Wave Surf Spot MAVERICKS!!!!
History, Museums, Points of Interest: California Missions, Hearst Castle, LA Arboretum, Descanso Garden, Getty Museum, Getty Villa, Norton Simon, The Broad, La Brea Tar Pits, The Exploratorium in San Francisco (Best Museum EVER!!!! All hands-on displays), Winchester Mystery House, State Railroad Museum, Wells Fargo Museum, Indian Grinding Rock State Park, Black Chasm Cavern National Landmark, Moaning Cavern, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Mulholland Scenic Highway, Musical Highway, Malibu, Point Dume State Beach, Santa Barbara, Santa Catalina Island (Los Angeles County), Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach Skate Park, Our New Arts District in Downtown LA, Griffith Park & Observatory, Mount Wilson Observatory, Alcatraz, Mount Shasta, Western terminus of Route 66, PCH, Prismatic Pools & Hot Springs. To name a few.

American Football: LA Rams, LA Chargers, San Francisco 49ers.
Basketball: Golden State Warriors, LA Clippers, LA Lakers, Sacramento Kings.
Horse Racing: Del Mar by the Sea, Santa Anita.
I agree. Love the deserts, mountains, beaches here in So Cal. One can be surfing at Zuma beach in the morning and by early afternoon, skiing in the San Gabriel mountains and in two hours camping under clear skies at Joshua Tree or in 3 hours, gambling in Las Vegas. 😜
You were on Rodeo (Roe Day Oh) Drive but there used to be a Rodeo (Roe Dee Oh) Road in Los Angeles but the name was changed.

Yall need to come and visit Pennsylvania next time.
No celebrities live in Beverly Hills right now. It’s more doctors and lawyers and of course plastic surgeons. The celebrities actually live in Bel Air high in the mountains and maybe Santa Monica hidden away. Hollywood is more Hispanic and tourist hotspots. The Chinese mostly are in either Chinatown or San Gabriel, Monterey park, or Cerritos. The Japanese are very much concentrated right in little Tokyo. Downtown is horrible at night especially with the crips and bloods fighting at all hours with the police trying to separate them and make arrests. It’s actually illegal for them to flash gang tattoos, symbols, or hand signs or they face arrest and jail time.
There are still quite a lot of celebrities who live in BH.
I’ve heard the joke of a wallet having a heart attack window shopping on rodeo drive. Old flintstones joke from Hollyrock a by baby. The adults visit pebbles and bamm bamm in LA. Wilma makes the wallet heart attack joke as they plan to window shop the street. Although they do buy a 4x4 baby stroller later to compensate for bamm bamm’s incredible strength.
Hi
You don’t have to be in the movies to get a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. You just have to be in the entertainment industry and that could be both in front of a camera and behind the camera. A Director producer or composer could be on the Hollywood walk of fame
I keep spotting Grand Theft Auto 5 locations.
Blazing Saddles is one of the funniest movies ever made. You MUST see it.
If you like fart jokes
Wow. James posted several times in the video that he pronounced Rodeo Drive wrong and so far at least 3 people have commented about how to say it.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This video is from April, but uploaded today, so reading comments today doesn’t help.
It’s only pronounced as Ro-day-o in L.A. It’s pronounced ro-dee-o everywhere else. It’s LA that changed it.
@@HappyOne3 WRONG
@@HappyOne3 No, actually ro day oh is the correct Spanish pronunciation.Rodeo is a Spanish word after all. Us Yankees butchered it and pronounced it ro dee yo.😉

Very nice ❤🇺🇸🙏🏻👍🏻
It is pronounced row DAY oh.
Since alot of the city is probably Los Santos now rather than Los Angeles they may have closed off the ground floor entrances. Being an Angeleno not a tourist I never went to Rodeo Drive but it does seem strange. Definitely don't be walking at night, even when I lived there decades ago that would not have been safe.
It is pronounced
RO DAYO DRIVE

Anybody can get a star , You don't have to be famous. You can just pay for it.
You should try walking to Venice Beach then walk back , it's very interesting the people, the shops
Elvis Presley has a star on the Walk Of Fame uf you didn't find it for music and movies.
I wish middle America and the south would watch this. I live in LA and I get so sick of hearing other Americans who've never even been here shit all over it. It has it's problems like all big cities do but it's not this scary wasteland some people make it out to be. Most of the city is absolutely gorgeous and the people here are just going to work and trying to have some enjoyment in their free time like everyone else in the world.

On the subject of sales tax vs VAT. VAT is a hidden tax and sales tax is not hidden. It says on the receipt how much you paid in sales tax.
