I have a $50 mechanical keyboard with red outemu switches, ive had it for a couple years now and its holding up great, im thinking about replacing them with blue cherry mx switches. Do you think it’s worth it or should i just buy an entirely new keyboard?

Great video but I gotta say with the sound test I can't hear much of a difference between the switches when you're smashing every key haha I get that's just your typing style but it might not be the best during sound tests
Honestly honestly it’s a personal choice… but you can’t really go wrong with either one… if it’s your first experience maybe go with a K8 for a fuller experience
K3 looks AMAZING and so compact! I started to second quess my choice to go with K8 Pro. But when I heard the sound, man... Even the blues sound kinda meh compared to just browns on the K8 (and apparently K8 Pro sounds even better). I went with blue switches for clicky sound theraphy, been using cherry browns for the past 6 years and I'm so tired of them at this point.
Mine didn't come with dust cover either... But it came with all the tools and also PBT shine-through caps, which was total wtf because I've seen so many people complain about this. I ordered mine with additional keycaps just because of that and in the end it was pointless. 😂
I notice that you have key caps where the characters light up. What keycaps set is this please. It doesn’t make any sense to me to have back lighting unless the key font lights up🙂. Thank you for your video. It is very helpful.
How is the battery life on the K3? I would like to know how it would last 8-10 hours daily and ligthts off. How about the sleep mode? How much does it take to turn on again?
i think its partially because of the keycaps. the higher profiled keycaps become like an amplifier for sound. u can buy/ DIY lube the switches and o ring the keycaps to reduce sound(which is what i did to my gateron reds K8)

As your first keyboard I would definitely recommend a full-size mechanical keyboard and not a slim one. So K8 is a great option. Also I would suggest as your first switch go with tactile switches because they will give you a very happy medium experience.

I've bought a Keychron K8 keyboard and I am experiencing serious problems with the Bluetooth connection, at least with my MacBook. The connection breaks a few times a day for about 10 seconds. After some time, it reestablishes, but this makes my work with the keyboard terrible. Another serious problem I observe is that quite often it hangs on some key presses, like Enter or Backspace. As a result, it repeats the pressed key. If this was Backspace, it will erase the whole document; in other cases, it will fill the document with the key being pressed. The only way to stop it is to turn off the keyboard immediately. Both issues make the experience with the keyboard terrible. I’ve seen different opinions on this keyboard posted like two years ago and it looks Keychron must be aware of that problems and those are still not resolved and despite of that you can see they still offer this product on their website. I bought mine less than one. month ago…

Great video! Hope this goes through. Looking to get a "portable" keyboard to be used mostly at work! Looking to get a 75% layout. Loving the K3 form factor but knowing myself I would like to be able to customize at least the key caps and that's not something I will be able to do with the K3 yet. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
@@JohnReynolds123 - It's portable. Any 75% keyboard you get will be portable. The dimensions of K2 and K3 are very similar. The only significant difference is the K2 is almost double in thickness as the K3. K2 dimensions (LxWxH): 12.32 x 4.84 x 1.52 inches; K3 dimensions (LxWxH): 12.05 x 4.57 x 0.87 inches.
i actually use the K8. i have gateron reds and i lubed, filmed, and o ringged them. it feels pretty nice for $100. although i really wanna change the keycaps to get a nicer keycap sound ^_^

How's the K8 been? I ordered K8 Pro with blue switches for programming. Currently rocking cherry browns for like 6 years and I really wanted something more clicky now (because it's rather therpeutic while programming) and also wireless, because I'm running Surface Pro 8 for drawing game assets plus a 55 inch monitor - it's impossible to set the keyboard in front of the Surface with a huge cable coming out the back of the keyboard; really hurting my shoulders and back having to twist ~25 degrees to left every time I type (or optionally move the chair around back and forth, trying to avoid the millions of cats in our household).
I have k2 with gateron browns and i love it, also i have the C1 with gateron reds retro style and i love it even more but i am not using it because its too sexy
I got the K1/87 key, but I bought the soldered one 🤦. Otherwise it's fantastic, I might just end up buying a newer version of that down the line as hot swappable, because that's the sweet spot for me.

It's a shame they don't do K8 in ultra slim... I would then consider switching from Apple keyboard. The other thing is changing back and forth layout that force to relearning layout each time I take away my laptop away with me leaving the keyboard at my desk... this is not an issue with desktops but a real pain with mobile devices. However, I love the customisability, build and feel of the Keychron. I am sitting in front of a K7 (5 rows UK ISO layout) that my friend has got. One disadvantage that I noticed straight away is even though it's an ultra low profile I still have to lift up my hands from desk and started to feel a bit of strain on my hands' mussels after less than two minutes of typing on this keyboard. Therefore, a wrist rest/pad (mentioned for the K8 in this video) would be a must in order to level them up with the keyboard and avoid my hands getting tired. Another thing that I would improve is the angle of key caps - instead of horizontally levelled I'd lower the caps towards user side same as you change keys angle when rising laptops - I do feel sharp bottom key edges and tend stumble on keys' edges when moving finders to upper rows even though have the keyboard on highest legs. This can be fixed with replaceable key caps.

I made the mistake of buying a Keychron K7. What I received was NOT wireless (no dongle included) and, when connected by USB cable, many keys did not work. Keychron ignored all my requests for an RMA and a refund. Before buying anything from Keychron, think! Do you want to give your money to a company that treats its customers this way?
Why is every tech review just a overview of the looks and features? Is it because this type of product is in the mac-type designer space? Why are there no videos talking about the user experience of typing or gaming? Function is important!

The red switch model for the keychron k3 are super sensitive, which are prone to typing mistakes. That's a major issue with red switch model.

Other have reported of similar Bt issues as well. This seems to have been fixed with their K8 pro version

Get the K2. It's a 75% keyboard with the normal profile key switches unlike the K3, which has low profile key switches.

Honestly it is very subjective, but I'd think the low profile keyboard could be easier on your wrists.

The keychron K1 is the slim version of K8. They're both 87 key/tenkeyless.
