Love to see the old trains still running, I like the new built 4-4-0's that are touring around but the old ones are the best. Thank you for sharing this so we can see this beautiful train.
Gorgeous old Amercan loco and passenger cars, but a caboose on a passenger train - just looks weird. Maybe on a mixed train on narrow gauge and short lines but watching it, Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, Oh! Keep it real for the kids. Thanks for sharing the vid.
Love these old trains from 1800's.We haven't had trains on PEI for 30 years or so.The last passenger train was in 68.The fright train to leave was in 89.All over after that. We're so small that I'm surprised it didn't happen a lot sooner.Haven't seen one since the last time in was in New Brunswick eight years ago.Great video man.
Perhaps not as impressive as a video of a Challenger or Northern or the Royal Hudson working hard or going fast but still makes you proud that it's here in Manitoba.
Charming yes. But DAMN they were dirty air polluters ! I Feel sorry for the crew's blackened lungs, as well as the surrounding communities, in which these trains passed by on a regular basis back in the days.
4-4-0 is my favorite... They were uses well up to the turn of the century... there were later models (similar to this one) capable of speeds up to 100 MPH! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Central_and_Hudson_River_Railroad_No._999
I am proud to say this Wonderful locomotive is literally less than 5 minutes away from. And its always fun to go and watch it take off sometimes. I also noticed the other two locomotives in the back of the warehouse, Will those get any kind of attention anytime soon?
Look at the Eureka & Palisade sometime, It's over 140 years old and running or heck, look up B&O's William Mason sometime. It's still operable and it's over 160 years old.
So if I'm correct but is Canadian Pacifc 3 is the oldest standard gauge steam locomotive in the both Canada and America nit sure if there osnt any left from that time in the 21st century and is she also the oldest still in operation not a replica Canadian Pacifc steam locomotive built by the Canadians from the 1880s?
It's truly amazing that even after 137 years this beautiful piece of mechanical and engineering artwork can still haul 5 modern passenger cars and a caboose with ease. This is most likely one of the longest surviving American 4-4-0 steam locomotives ever.

That old girl is a survivor

A 4-4-0 locomotive in its pure glory.
4-4-0 American locomotives are just so emblematic.
And the rolling stock is well preserved!
There's nothing more iconic than a steam locomotive.

I love an old steam whistle, wonderful sound!

Pulling along 5 heavyweight cars plus a caboose is doing great for an old time 4 4 0 steamer like this.
It’s got the best sounding whistle of any steam locomotive EVER
BomberBoy Yes indeed! I heard it whenever it came to the CN Transcona Shops growin up in the 80’s 🚂
Magnificent engine.
Perhaps not as impressive as a video of a Challenger or Northern or the Royal Hudson working hard or going fast but still makes you proud that it's here in Manitoba.
But of course, none of them are as old as this one.
Probably my favourite train in Canada, though I do like 2816.
PDC 3 is definitely my favourite, though it could be a biased opinion, lol.

Love this...Hes pulling a good load ...Love these prairie steamers
That's the largest 4-4-0 "American" type (pardon me) I have ever seen. And still working! I need to look up the history of this locomotive.

Yeah 999 was a beast when she had her big drivers on.
Look up Wilmington & Western #98 sometime. I don't know if it's any larger but it's a mighty big 4-4-0 as well.
100MPH a century ago... While we here got there less than 25 years ago... Sad.
Great video Taylor, I remember catching the PDC at Polo Park when I was 7 for the Prairie Dog Central to Pine Falls, Manitoba in 1985
It was called the Prairie Dog Special for that trip and went through North Transcona, will never forget it
Love me a good steam whistle.
He looks fantastic!
thats pretty beasty for a 4-4-0.
Great to see!

She’s a sweet old girl
This whistle is the same as #98s whistle on Wilmington and western railway
Pasenger: C-mon give it a little more seed ...
Conductor: 😓
Pasenger: don't worry the throttle doesn't bite
0:21 Lunkenheimer 6 inch 3 chime whistle.
an old train over 100 years old
Wonderful!!!
Great video, if you need any info about how No3 is getting on let me know because I volunteer there on a regular basis
140 years old now
wow 💘 old trains.
I have ridden an 118 year old consolidation tvrm 630
if anybody knows what whistle it is because it sounds to good to be a crosby
What 3 chime whistle is in the the #3
I love it! Her engineer loves to make that whistle moan!
What is the oldest? The UK one?
Kinda reminds me of "Kansas Pacific".
That was a 4-6-0 not a 4-4-0
Great video. Where is this train located. I live in Denver. Thanks 👍👍👍👍
Winnipeg manitoba canada
I have a model of this engine similar to this in n scale. She is beautiful. I also have the blueprints.
I used decals. It is an atlas model. Hopefully, you can find one.
choo-choo
How did you know did somebody tell you?
It's on the internet, including the PDC website, and there's a plaque on the locomotive.
The whistle so loud
Come to michigan
ancient
Their is no way that engine is 134 years old!
It is.
Built 1882 by Dubs & Co. Polmadie, Glasgow. Glaswegians built engines to last.
Look at the Eureka & Palisade sometime, It's over 140 years old and running or heck, look up B&O's William Mason sometime. It's still operable and it's over 160 years old.
This is a Scotish locomotive...
no, I dont think so
It does not look fucking Scottish at all you idiot it’s clearly a North American design
@@oregonrailfan7046 Actually, he's not wrong, this locomotive was built in Scotland in Glasgow by Dubs, she was just modified for American standards
fardin
I love the scent of steam can't replace it with anything else it is in a class all by itself.
I do not think that this train someone choose it to make a trip to the future.
What?
There's a music sequence on lots and lots of trains part one called Smoke and rails and that exact engine is seen in the first half of the sequence
Prairie Dog Central 3's Bell Sounds Like 2816's Bell
Beautiful engine, consist, and video! That last shot is terrific. Thanks for sharing!
Nice equipment. We rode on it a coupla years ago. They restored the locomotive and had the boiler rebuilt for a cool half million bucks.
What was north america like in 1882 ? In fact the world . Where can we visit her ? great look and horn .
AS CANADA'S IN THE 21'ST CENTURY WE ONLY USE KILOMETERS
PURE audio bliss....
These scenes are incredible. Whoever filmed this is brilliant.
And this locomotive look so old and his whistle is old too

There is nothing quite like a well played steam whistle. Haunting with mystery and promise, adventure and tomorrow, there is nothing to compare.
That bell reminds me of a certain Hudson....2816
I and my kids have ridden the Prairie Dog several, times back in the 80s
The most beautiful train in the world
I remeber taking a ride in t a while ago
Paint it in its CP scheme

Those cars aren't modern - they're over a hundred years old too.
@@TheCandoRailfan Oh, then that's even more amazing that it can still pull the original cars easily! Thanks for telling me.
fantastic!
