      Wow so this actually works? I may have to try this tomorrow when the water finally goes out. My cousins destroyed the drain. It was working fine a week ago. An than came back from the lake and they got it so disgusting that it takes HOURS to drain like nearly 24 hours. I spent at least 8 hours in the bathroom taking a plunger hoping it would go down. An it rarely ever did. So I got tired of doing that and just put a roll of paper towels into it to soak all that nasty water up. I can't wait to try this out. Hopefully a clown doesn't get me at the end of that drain lol

    There's another way, which just tried myself. After you clean any hair from the strainer, pour a 1/4 cup of baking soda into the drain, then add a cup of white vinegar. Baking soda and vinegar react with each other and this will loosen buildup in the drain pipe. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Once the time's up, have a kettle filled with water, brought to a boil and pour it in the drain. You can also pour a kettle full of boiling water down the drain before the baking soda and vinegar. Just did that and my bathtub drains great now.

    An extra tidbit that works for me is when you are plunging the drain, pull the plunger off as hard as you can. It will pull a bunch of the gunk up and out so you don't just rinse it back down the drain. Instead clean it up with your towel and bag. Awesome video worked for me.

  • @musiqman7
    @musiqman7 9 років тому +17

    This worked well. I bought an "old school" plunger ($2.67 at Walmart) and think I found an effective solution to the "rag in a bag" plug for the vertical opening under the faucet. I used three strips of Gorilla tape, however duct tape might be as effective, over the hole after removing the chrome plated cover. In doing so I was able to generate maximum pressure for breaking up the clog.
    On some tubs the device under the faucet serves a dual function: drain stopper and air intake. On my tub, it is simply for air intake to allow the water to drain more quickly from the tub. That said, once you believe you've effectively cleared the clog, the rate of draining will increase once the tape, or plug, is removed from the hole beneath the faucet.

    5 years later and here I am. So, I came home to 3 inches or so in tub. Okay pulled up this video. Previous clogs have been unclogged with a long zip tie. Not working this time. My drain is a turn down to close it, so could not take that off. Took off cap below the spout and put the long zip tie in it and the water started draining out. Nothing gross was pulled out. Woohoo, clean tub again. Thank you so much from South Carolina.

    My freaking hero. Thanks for this video. I've been plunging the drain for two days, bought a snake, drano, and exasperated, I look on UA-cam. This solved the problem, first try. Great video.

    Omg!! Thank you!! It worked!! I can shower tonight!! My tub has been plugged slow draining for two weeks. I've waited to see if the "man" of the house would get around to fixing it. One week in he says is it because of your hair? What?! No. Because it gets caught in the drain and i clean it out. I realize he's been manscaping in the shower!! Well he had the nerve to do it again today. And i said how am i going to shower he told me to bucket out the water and clean it he doesn't have time. So I am STILL "the man" my side friend who is actually a plumber will be proud. You're awesome. So glad I found you🙏 ok, off to 🚿 now

    That plugging trick with the towel and plastic bag was the key. I tried to plunge and after what felt like concrete got dislodged, the water flowed like it never did before.

    I just did this and it worked instantly :) I've never done anything like this before but being single, living alone, forces you to save money while doing it yourself! Def works!!! (I also went the extra mile & used "Hair Clog removal" after unclogging the tub, since my hair is super long - bought all the items I needed at my local grocery store)

    Turns out, for me, it was the overflow/stopping mechanism (the tab you pull to take a bath) stuck halfway or something. Had a pretty slow drain. Pulled the stopper out and it drained fine! Put it back in and I guess it's fixed now. Thanks for the demo!

    Thanks for the video and the tip to plug "the other hole" before plunging. I have a different kind of shower drain stopper and put in drainer goo remover (bacteria/enzyme-based), too, six hours before applying the plunger. Worked like a charm. (Apparently my new hair conditioner is the culprit!)

    Thank you so much!!! Have been dealing with tub drain problems for years. The strongest drain opener did nothing to solve the problem. I could not get the auger past around the bend. I watched your video yesterday and last night, to help things along, poured Dawn dish soap and hot water to work overnight. This AM, it took a few tries with the plunger, but busted open the clog!!!! I am guilty of having used too many solid state products… bar soap, coconut oil, Shea butter, etc. Will now not apply those in the shower! The least amount of bar soap and will treat weekly with Dawn, hot water and the plunger!! Thank you again!!

    Hi Sir. I had been working on my tub for a while with no success, got all the crud out of the bottom and plunged it still no success. I didn't know about plugging that top hole to make it airtight - did that, plunged it again - HUGH SUCCESS. The tub now makes a whirlpool. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE WITH US! Cheers

    I'm so glad I watched your video! Our tub has been draining so slowly. I tried hot water. The snake tool couldn't go deep enough. The clog-clearing chemicals accomplished nothing. I called a few plumbers and was told it was a sewer issue, but I knew it was a clogged pipe, so I turned to UA-cam, watched the video and in 10 minutes, my tub was working perfectly! The plunger unclogged a hair collection the size of a small cat. Ew! Thank you for your help!!!

Thanks again.

    I brought a $5 snake from Walmart, to no avail. Purchases not one but TWO bottles of Drano, one regular and one hair buster, to no avail. Finally busted out the plunger which I already had for my toilet and it didn't work also...then came across this video and used the towel to block the upper drain and plunged again and BOOM! TYSM! Took two minutes!
