#guitar #action #high - Навчання та стиль
To all the people saying he should just adjust the truss rod, you can pivot the strings as much as you want off the 2 points but if the points (nut/saddle) are too high to begin with you can old do so much with a truss rod. With electric I shave the nut if it’s too high at the 1st fret. This was actually a great short about acoustics.
Truss rods are to set proper relief in the neck, not to adjust action. Setting relief might effect action but is not the reason to adjust truss rod. Order od operations should be...
Tune to pitch
Adjust/set relief
Retune
Measure action at the 12th
Adjust action at 12 by sanding saddle/adding shim/making new saddle
Then measure and adjust string height/action at the nut
This is a nylon string guitar. There is no truss rod in the neck.
@@Christianflowarts are you trolling right now? Haha
@@Super_Nope_13 yeah I must’ve been drunk idk why I commented this on an obviously steel string acoustic 🤣
truss rods are to adjust relief, not to adjust the action.
This is what I did the action on my new guitar wasn’t too bad out of the box it was a cheap jasmine I didn’t want to spend too much in case I didn’t stick with learning I did it with two picks put together and dropped at the 12th fret as my measurement. It worked like a charm
check the neck relief first to make sure that the neck is straight before shaving the saddle.
How to check the relief 😢
@@carlmarx6427 Quick way to check is press 6th string on the 1st fret and 14 fret, then check the gap between strings on the 7th fret. That should be very small, almost touching.
@Edwin-E if it is straight, then I need to shave the saddle? My 1st fret is already pretty close. Worried the rod will create a buzz if I fix it there. 12th fret is close to a 1/8" gap.
@@diggetydugif it is straight, your trustrod does not need adjustment. Then moving on to the saddle, follow the original video.
Thankyou, Quite informative & helpful in short 👍🏻
Thanks for the tip I’ll reward you some nail clippers
❤️thank u
At least they’re clean, I’m sure he uses them to strum. And pick a booger or two. I know I would!
@@edgarochoa5807 lmaoooo
the coke nail
Nah, I bet he clips his left hand nails regularly. That's how you spot a guitarist, short nails on one hand, long nails on the other! 🙂
I need to do that with my classical guitar.
Meanwhile my fake guitar is like more than 4 cm. Didn't have truss rod and the bridge is too high, that didn't have pin on bridge.
This is light on actual detailed information , dangerous !
I keep mine .10 and .85 usually at the 12th. Humidity is a huge factor in maintaining that so it’s more ideal to do 1/4 turn adjustments on the truss rod. Shaving the saddle would make more sense after a fret dressing
How to shave the saddle? Can I just rub it against the ruler?
@@NipunKushSrivastava sandpaper or a flat metal file. I've used a flat metal file to save time and finished it with 600 grit sandpaper on a bone saddle.
most string height issues on acoustic guitars come from the guitar top arching and the neck sinking into the guitar, shave the saddle is just a placebo
Saddle needs to be shaved only after first making sure nut slots and truss rod are correct. If you adjust nut and truss after, you will probably have to change your saddle height again afterward and now it might be too low.
Exactly
Thanks for this❤
done for my guitar. Now it is much easier to play
You should always ensure that the neck is straight before attempting to do this, still.
You should adjust the truss rod if it needs adjusting though. A straight truss rod not only sets the action but also allows the guitar to vibrate and play better.
Action from the saddle should only be done once the truss rod has been adjusted properly
i try this it work thanks man
Thanks man
No problem
im scared ill shave too much lol
How you compute how much mm to cut on saddle after you got 3.4 mm and high e of 2.6?
Check for shims under the saddle before you shave.
Make a permanent change instead of adjusting a part that's meant to be adjusted. Got it.
Saddles are cheap and easily replaceable, and sanding them is an extremely common part of setting up an acoustic’s action to a player’s preference. No need to be snarky.
Well why not? If you want your action to be specific why not make a permanent change instead of having to readjust every time you hear feet buzzing
i think he meant adjusting the trust rod
I actually NEED to sand my saddle down since I just got it. If this short isn't for you just stfu.😁
In some case, the neck is not adjustable. In classical nylon guitar for example you really have to sand the saddle since classical guitar doesn't have truss rod
Nice can u sand off the nut aswell?
เยี่ยมมากครับกำลังหาวิธีอยู่เลย
Is this has a full video?
Please can you do for electric guitar please
I have a fender strat and an older cheap rock jam one. Since I got my fender, I play it all the time. I picked up my old one and started playing it the other day and haven't picked it up since because the action is so high. I don't know if it was always that high.
Do you know how I can reduce it?
Adjust the saddles with a small allen wrench
mine is 6 mm 💀💀
Bro i did that too but it's so hard to tune now, the strings are breaking cause i keep on twisting the tuning keys just to reach the standard tune
My low e is 5.5 mm and i can shred imagine the pain 😩
You ok, man?😳
Same here i have to do that first i was thinking to tighten up truss rod but there was not so much bend at all.
Is it juarez guitar?
@@Doesitmatter00710hello
@saikiran00710 mine is a cheap 10 dollar guitar no truss rod barley tunes
saddle less than 3mm kill the sound
Can anyone help me my guitar action is too high more then 1.5cm 😢
Mine string action is 7 mm... So i able to 😢use only first 3 frets
Ap to Karigar ho
you can’t just shave the string saddle to have a good string action. if you don’t adjust the truss rod. but too much tension on the rod can cause a buzzing sound if the saddle is too low
what happens if i shaved the top?
Don't
What's the guiter name
Mine is like 1cm gap between fretboard and low e
These arguments are crazy. If you are a relief is correct then only a quarter turn and either directions should be made to the truss rod. If you cannot obtain the desired action from a quarter turn then you should then make adjustments to the nut and saddle like this guy did. Truss rods are specifically designed to adjust relief in the neck It should only be used to make small adjustments to the action.
When you have a cheap-ass guitar as mine, you don't have such a thing as truss rod XD
@@Barni2212😂😂😂
can i put back the same guitar strings i removed or i should put a new one?
Yes you can.. as long as the strings are still okay
@@elvenderideas Thank you!!
I just changed my strings and I also just realized that my guitar's action is high😅
I have an adjustable saddle and even set all the way down the action is about 8mm at the 12th fret. 😂
why i cant remove my saddle
I sanded it so much it doesn’t even touch the strings no more, and adjusted the truss rod, but the action is still high. Helpp
Please check your guitar neck
@@elvenderideas❤
what tool did u used to shave the saddle?
file
1.5/1.0mm
My guitar 1.75mm in string low E and 0.75 in string high E😅
is it better ? so should one shave the saddle to get this action as mine is 4 mm on low E......
I can't open saddle of my guitar
Pov: you own a classical
I broke one bridge pin while doing this.. now what to do:")
You can buy from online
I cough for days after inhaling microplastics.
Does that screw up the intonation ?
Did it on mine and no the intonation it’s just fine I also made adjustments to my truss rod before even shaving the saddle down doesn’t take much
Me who having 1 cm thinking action is low 😂😂
LOL
bros thumb is a pick
Where should we rest the ruler to measure?
Above the Fret sticks or from the wooden base of fret ?
Please reply; I need to do something to it.
It should be on the fret wire..
@@elvenderideas Thanks
Mines 1cm🥰
does it feel better while playing? does it buzz? should i shave my saddle as my low E is 4 mm 🥲
Botched😮 Trying to make it look easy. Follow at your own risk folks uneven saddle under side. Which leads to imbalance intonation and so on. Bad practice lay flat on glass and have a guide for straight flat contact sanding
Apa guna besi tanam di gitar🥵
Guitar action is fine from 4 to 5.5 mm, buzzing will be from 2 to 3.5 mm.
First of all: just practice and get used to it. Second of all: consult a luthier before doing this kind of stuff, you might lose a lot of money if you mess up.
Cutting or shaving the saddle is the most safest method instead of ruin the truss rod.. 😊
A lot of money? The saddle in your guitar probably costs $5
Man it s rare to find a comment where every sentence is wrong. Congratulation!
It's like 10 bucks...
If the guitar is not comfortable to play
Then it's worth nothing
..I do agree on getting a professional opinion before doing this stuff
6mm here
1 cm
Why shave saddle? If it’s a Taylor, a simple neck reset will do the job without any permanent changes.
That's why you have long nails on one hand
dont do that if you dont want your guitar get more vibration with playing
Why do i have metal inside my saddle
Its piezo for capturing ur guitar string wave to produce sound to the amp
Trussrod adjustment to adjust string height??? That's how you know this guy doesn't know what he's doing.. not what the trussrod is for..
Dude I will give you the detail of truss rod adjustments if you what. This technique is for guitar that doesn't have truss rod and it is safe. Remember wrongly adjusting the truss rod can be damaging your guitar.. 😊
And please read the description and title before commenting. Thanks
Truss rod isn't for string's height, it is to straighten the neck if the tension of the strings curves the neck. It is to counter the tension not the height of the string
@@cariagakenchim8479 exactly even if your neck is straight you would still have low action on the guitar sometimes you have to adjust the saddle and nut not only truss rod.
Nooooooo ....First try adjusting truss rod
"Lefty Loosy Righty Tighty", If the problem persist...go to a luthier don't do anything by yourself..
Please watch the video carefully.. btw if you don't have the knowledge of course just don't do it. Send it to me. Thanks
