Cannot imagine anything worse as an apprentice to have the teacher, cameramen, a colleague and a bunch of UA-camrs watching me work. Well done to Reuben for keeping it together.
Top lad Reuben. Good to see you’ve got a couple of good mentors. When I was an apprentice I was told to get on with the job and when I ballsed up got told I was useless 😂. Good to see things have changed in learning the trade. Couple of tips. Always take pride in your work and always take care of your tools. Your tools are what make you the money 👍
@@sammm186 unfortunately mate you will always have the mardy twats within the trade. Just ignore it and keep doing what your doing to the best of your ability and learn from the ones that will take time out to show you 👍
Great work Reuben - as Cory said, nothing like the pressure of being on camera and watched by thousands of people. You've got some great mentors in Cory and Lee.... and ok, Jordan as well... lol.
Good job Reuben. Glad things are coming together with college and work. Cory and Lee. Great Mentors Guys. Thanks for the banter It always puts a smile on my face.
Good old Reuben... A thoroughly nice young man.. well on his way to becoming a 1st class sparky... due to his experienced colleagues....( and genuine interest and sense of humour) Excellent show, crack on you guys..
Well done Reuben. Never easy doing those glands and let me tell ya, even after many years of installing them, you fill always find that one which gives you a headache. Ask any "honest" sparky and they will tell you the same. They can do 50 or so but then all of a sudden you will get one that simply does not want to play ball.......
Big up the Cambridge crew! Good graft Reuben! Looks like as a firm you do nice work and your relationship with your apprentice seems spot on. Will definitely consider you lads if I need some sparks done as a local company. Nice one and keep up the great work
Cory is an absolute master, for a lanky drink of water,at the ripe old age of 23,he impresses the sh!t out of me,you're in good hands Reuben &I am warming up to Lee!You're a lucky guy Jordan, you never have to worry about what's happening on site!!😉
Well done Reuben, with Cory (and Lee) as your mentors you'll not go wrong and end up as a proper electrician - not someone who works for "bodgit and scarper"
Great going Reuben. Keep asking your mentors questions. Their combined will take you along way. Lee seems like a great guy, I don't think he takes much credit his work. Every day should be a new learning curve. We all make mistakes, be grateful you have people by your side to put thing right. 👍
Ruben you are so great. It's completely normal to make mistake, but more important is to learn from mistake. Don't worry about anything. Willing to learn is the most important thing. And consider yourself as a lucky kid that you have opportunity to learn from really good electricians.
This apprentice seems like a really good lad. Not sure who's luckiest. These guys to have such a good apprentice or the apprentice having such good teachers!
What a great job of training you did on this video. Many companies would not give the tradesmen as much time leeway for training. A good company to work for or to be a customer.
Well done Reuben, it takes time to get the feel of how much and how hard to cut into the armour when scoring it off, personally I don’t like those hacksaws with the vertical handle like the one you were using for scoring armoured, I prefer the old style bog standard ones that they used to have in my college, feels more manoeuvrable and easier to get round the back of the cable especially if you’ve got limited space
Cory. Love your videos, please don’t take this as criticism but I have to pick you up on your comment about the main switch. I’m sure you just were putting it over wrong as you can’t of meant what you said. An isolator is just that, an isolator. It won’t ‘let through’ an amount of voltage or current over it’s rating when open…The 100A or whatever rating is what load can carry without burning out. If there’s 120A load on it and you turn it off it will fully isolate it…it won’t let say 20A through ….I am only making this comment as I fear it will confuse apprentices. Keep up the good work though.
Hey mate! No offence taken. Maybe I wasn’t clear enough ( also editing sometimes takes out context ). I was trying to explain, It is an isolator and it will not trip, it is designed to safely carry 100Amps and no more. Just like a cooker switch will safety isolate up to 45a, and no more, but will never trip. Just burn out!
Thanks so much for the reply Cory. I thought you didn’t mean what you said mate :-) . It just comes across as ‘if it’s rated at 100A and you open it, but carry on and put 120A through it, it will let 20A through’ watch that bit of the clip and see what I mean :-) But anyway I love your videos, you are a great electrician. You take pride in your work like I do. I do a day doing electrical work and them come home and watch others do it on You Tube lol.
@3:49 That isn't "a bit bird's nest inside the cupboard...it's a fricken' condominium...they need to start charging them rent!! I would give Reuben at least a 9 out of 10...had that little hiccup with the armoring gland. . Yeah...I was constantly focusing on my gland at 16 :)
I’m a little stunned AE isn’t requiring their apprentice to wear safety glasses or work gloves. I do think it is amazing to have 16 year old apprentices - we can’t do that in the states. However, let’s teach them the right way in the beginning, and to be safe - wear safety glasses…
I know you always check the main isolation switch or breaker on the CU, but do you other checks in case of "phantom power", or backfeeding from other circuits? Years ago, I heard it was fairly common to see power joined from other CUs, or people being naughty, and stealing power from another building. Or sometimes even a generator or UPS somewhere. Just wondered if that kind of thing is still seen, or even considered nowadays?
How nice to be able to fit a 7 kW unit and not think twice. I currently live in a country where the typical domestic supply is 6.9 kW. Can't even make toast and boil the kettle while the dishwasher is running, without tripping the main breaker. I've no idea how the electric car revolution is going to play out here in Portugal.
One of them uses BLÅKLÄDER pants with stretch it looks like And maybe a pair of Mascot Advanced, not sure if there's different colors in the UK ? (my favorite - also with stretch)
I'm a 37 year old Australian woman and starting a new career as an electrician, in January I'm doing a two month pre-apprenticeship course just to get into a four year apprenticeship which I won't be eligible for until I have finished the pre-apprenticeship. I will be 42 before I can get my license. I am worried that despite the government giving incentives on adult apprenticeships nobody will hire me, I'm also worried that most sparks my age are closer to retirement than they are to their start of their career.
Advice to the new (?) guy with the gray wool hat & tattoos. Please get rid of that metalic watch !! When working on electric systems, never EVER wear metalic rings, braclets, watches, neck chains. Gold and silver are the worst. Metalic conductors are like magnets to live pixies. All it takes is a glancing contact, a moment of distraction, a split second, and you are TOAST. You will be welded to the live conductor until someone else disconects the feed. I work on industrial equipment, and haven't worn anything metalic since 1993. Just not worth the risk. Edit : Ok, Lee isn't a new guy. But I stand by what I wrote.

Well done Reuben, You have 2 good teachers in Cory & Lee learn as much as you can.
Well done Reuben, the install looks very neat.

Give Reuben a length of SWA to practice at home. Sink or swim this kind of pressure if he rises to it will make him as good as Cory and Lee.
Good job Reuben.
Glad things are coming together with college and work.
Cory and Lee. Great Mentors Guys.
Thanks for the banter
It always puts a smile on my face.
That's the way to do it! Letting Reuben put his hands on new things and and learn, make mistakes, etc.

You guys are putting the fire in many young bellies as you go ...first class motivator for the young and the restless...keep it on Reuben!
@Anthony Antz Wasn't that the Bold and the Beautiful, or the Young and the Restless ?
Maybe it was The Balled and Bulging !

Well done Reuben the best way to learn is to be dropped into the deep end, looks a nice install
😂
Total DREAM Apprenticeship for the lad working with you lot! He's gonna learn loads and have fun doing it. Soak it up Reuben!
Well done Reuben great video and very nicely presented. Apprentices smashing it right now obviously great mentors 👏👏👏

What a really great environment for Reuben to learn. Awesome work as always. I wonder how many video’s till Corys feeding lee grapes?

Good man Reuben well done. This is a great career and you will continue to learn all the way through it.
Love Ruben. You’ve a natural mate!!!
Well done Reuben, keep up the good work

lol, love the trick isolator question.
Reuben is easy becoming one of the best UA-cam electricians….
At least this guy as the sense to know the value of being an apprentice that will give him a job for life .

Great job Rueben 😎
Hummus and jalipinos with fried onions and mushrooms. Is the best on toast with melted cheese.
Where did you get those pants I’m looking in for a refresh with mine currently. Carhart is the electrical line I’m using. Appreciate it!
Good job Ruben 👍 great video boys
Kia Ora. Watching your videos from New Zealand
I wonder why Reuben let‘s his apprentice Cory do the intro … 🤔
Don't think 20amps is going to leak through the isolator! It means the switch will overheat if more than 100amps is being utilized.
Does anybody know what work pants they use? They look functional and stylish at the same time!!
One of them uses BLÅKLÄDER pants with stretch it looks like
And maybe a pair of Mascot Advanced, not sure if there's different colors in the UK ? (my favorite - also with stretch)

6/10. Where 6 is probably the highest number you will ever get off Cory!

Well done to the lad.
Knipex do indeed have the smooth jaw cobras that Corey is wondering about 👌KNIPEX 86 03 150 Pliers wrench
Did Cory say he wanted some smooth jaws on the grips? Bit of heat sleeving?
Reuben, makes sandwiches and installs chargers at 16 like a pro 👍🏻
Do you guys always work at this pace?
Looking forward to Reuben's spin-off sandwich making channel
Great video 🙌🏽
