Cory, that is what insurance is for... You are human at the end of the day, and we all make mistakes... I can't imagine Jordan being angry at an accident. As you rightly say, at least no one was hurt, and that it was only a lampost. Great entertaining video again, for this non electrician Best regards Lee (In Denmark)
Don't feel bad about the van Cory it could be worse. Back when I was still an apprentice I gave the sparks I was working with a lift pick up the new company van. He didn't even make it out of the dealership with it. He misjudged the size of it and caught the gate out onto the forecourt. Smashed the passenger window and dented the whole door. Van immediately went back in for a new door.
As I have said previously I am not an electrician or even training to be but I find these videos obviously very informative but just, relaxing. The way they’re shot and the way they run is just brilliant. Keep up the amazing work Artisan. Definitely my favourite channel on UA-cam. Also Cory, head up, as you said it’s just a van and these things happen.
Replacing those van doors gets expensive fast. I had a hire van that ended up being towed backwards by a tractor, and had a smash with the tow tractor when it was forced to make an emergency stop by an errant pickup. The van slid on slick mud, and we took the tractor's towgear right into the middle of the back doors. They closed, they latched, we made it home but the hire company charged me for the repair (correctly, it was in my care when the accident happened) - it ended up coming to over a grand with parts and labour. Hopefully you can get it panel beaten, and save the cost of new parts, at least.
Another great video from the guys. Cory and Ruben work extremely well together and Cory's a great role model for Ruben, both professionally and personally. Sh*tty buzz with the rear of the van however, you said it yourself, it's only an object and money can fix it 👍 Well done again guys - mighty stuff.
Nicely off topic but Re: the injury, I used to live in Sweden and went to visit a stately house, Tjolöholms Slott. It was built by a Scottish businessman who bought pit prop timber and sold it in the UK. He lived in Sweden too. The place was finished and he was mowing the lawns, he had a bottle of pop, which in Sweden, even when I was there, had a metal cap that was removed by pulling a tag similar to wine bottles. He cut himself opening the bottle and wrapped the soft metal round the cut to stop the bleeding. Died three days later, blood poisoning. Which is too close to home as my grandad did a similar thing when I was five. At least you washed the cut . I have done the same many times but it is worth treating properly, even if it does come over as rather wussy. A very neat installation in the end, commiserations on the van incident.
Cory it happens. Like you said it could have been worse. Keep the videos coming. I do not think Jorden will let you pay for it. Its part of doing business and it is insured.
Good to see you back Cory. Sorry about your trouble with the van . Sometimes stuff like that happen. Its there is keep us humble and to prioritise what's important like Reuban's index finger. He'll need that later. So I'm glad that was saved. I'm still smiling at the numbers of times Jordan had to let off the handbrake in the new electric VW. Now there is an exercise in humility !! Happy New Year!!.
I really hate that feeling when you have a minor accident you cant stop thinking about "if only, if only etc" Like one of the comments said below this is why we have insurance!!! Love your video's and I have to say your Consumer Units are a work of art!!! keep up the good work! PS I am also looking to get one of the Whia electric screwdrivers, I will let you know what I think of them.
Only half a job :) You didn't show us the damage to the lamppost though. PS, its not a dent, its a battle scar lol. Nice panel beating btw. Claim it on the insurance, or use the Artisan profit from 2021 to get a new door. I don't think Jordan would grudge paying for his top sparky
Top Tip: if you cut you finger put your hand above your head, this lowers the blood pressure in your arm & allows the cut to clot quicker. PDR will be able to remove the dent in the door & that will save a fortune in labour, paint & a replacement door. Trying to remove the dent yourself will have made PDR harder so next time as temping as it is don't try to remove the dent. The bumper cover will need replacing though.
A little tip. Kitchen cupboard doors have a quick release catch on the back of the hinges to remove them easily without changing the adjustment on the hinge itself.
Its all good, i reversed a new 19 plate Parcelforce sprinter into a lampost on a Persimmon site a few years ago. These modern vans crumple so easily. Gone are the days of tank like vans.
Brilliant video Cory.😊 Shame for the van but don't worry about it. Jordan is a good fella, I don't think he'll get mad at you for having an accident.🤔 You can try to get it repaired rather than a new door. Best of luck.😉
Say you've got a ring which you need to extend 20cm, can you create a lollipop circuit? Bit of 4mm2 out of the board up to the trunking, a three way MF lever connector (so you can disconnect for testing) and run the ring from that. I can't immediately think of a reason why it wouldn't be safe. I think the biggest issue would be testing it but it's accessible and you can stick a label somewhere. You're allowed to parallel conductors, you're not creating a split ring or a cross connected ring or anything. Might save a few extensions? Maybe it's just a bit too confusing and not worth the hassle. It would be fine (normal even) to run a 10mm2 cable out to a garage, put in an DB with a 32A MCB and run a ring final from that. If you were to just move the 32A MCB to the start of the 10mm2 cable it would appear to achieve the same effect. Could be useful if you've got a redundant cooker feed in a kitchen too, otherwise you'd just turn it in to a radial on 4mm2. Maybe there's already a name for this that I don't know about!
Cory....Go for the Bosch Go electric screwdriver instead of the Wiha SpeedE. They are a great bit of kit and over half the price. I got one for that exact reason, saves those wrists and elbows during EICR's and just really speeds things up👍🏻
Now I am an apprentice still, in my last couple of weeks. Infact I have my last exam in 2 weeks. I have the Wiha Speede II, I must tell you. It is wrist saving for doing a lot of sockets, switches, breakers, etc. Work that requires lots of screwing by hand
When you need to "work through" your injuries, try alum to stop the bleeding, then super glue for wound closure. You can cover the glue with a small bit of tyvek if it's in an area that gets stretched a lot... Also keep some *instant cold packs* handy for when you bash yourselves... Getting cold on a contusion *fast* will reduce bruising and speed healing.
I have that electric screwdriver from wiha for a couple of years but it isn’t strong enough, I don’t like it. I recommend a other brand but haven’t tested any other yet.
Shit happens mate ,the insurance will cover it ,Jordan is lucky to have such a good worker who cares about his job!!they are hard to find trust me ,i run my own business and i know this too well
Years ago while learning to drive a Datsun Sunny, always in the dark, on quiet roads for some reason, i was doing a 3 point turn and decided to do it under the only working street light on the road, heavy rain and darkness didnt help, so steer to middle of road and then to opposite kerb and engage reverse , and reverse, single street light giving a good view of rear, so i stopped clear of the kerb line, instructor said you can go back a bit more, but try not to hit kerb, so slowly crept back about a few more feet and BANG, THEN BANG again as i had reversed into the lamppost stuck on edge of kerb, as opposed to being on fence line for some reason , then second Bang as shade from the yellow sodium lamp fell onto roof of car, we both got out as neighbours started appearing, and i was told to drive off quite quickly . Never heard anymore about the incident, despite car having a dent in roof, broken lamp post a huge, L on a triangle stuck on roof as well as signs on side of learner car.
Lamppost, what Lamppost. There it was providing comfort to passers-by in the evening little knowing that Cory ... Did you administer EICR or is the electrical tape only for Ruben.
soldered connection and heat shrink? You are quite lucky, such a job would not qualify for a professional job over here. Why not use wago connectors? Also, that cable connector on the kitchen floor under the cabinet... I really hope it never get wet. Nice videos, and i am sure you know what you are doing. Just never thought that stardards can be so different in different countries.
I have a Wiha Speede. I find it still needs some work. There is alot of "slop" when using it as a standard screw driver. Spent have alot of torque but I guess to be expected for such a small motor. Will prevent RSI but also will frustrate you.
The Wiha Speed-e (first gen) is good but really expensive and only reaches 0.4Nm before cutting out. The speed-e 2 is adjustable from 0.4-1Nm but even more expensive than the 1st!! I have found an alternative, still made by Wiha but in their Zu Hause (at home) range. It has the same Nm adjustment as the speed-e 2 but at a fraction of the price. I’ve used it now for a few months and it’s been brilliant. Only difference that I can see is that the rechargeable battery can’t be changed.
Hey cory, why don't you make a video talking about your ferfamenta? And by the way, do you like this model of cutting pliers from ck so much so you don't switch to one from knipex?
Not the best Start to January for you guy , With what happened with the Nightmare new Electric van and Reuben cuts his finger + Cory hit post with the van. (That’s really sucks for you Cory ), I m Sure Jordan will be ok in a van things happen, great to see you guys back on UA-cam and doing a great job As always ⚡️👊
Cory, I have the Wiha Speede 2. I use it alot for switches and outlets batteries do seem to die fast. It takes same bits as the wiha torque screwdriver
It's a work tool, it's not meant to be shiny. If it's still shiny you haven't used it enough. No point fixing it, it will pick up more battle scars in time.
It's interesting coming from North American electrical to see the differences in the UK... Junctions are handled so differently here... Has to be in a junction box, and can't be concealed at all.
Ouch your van got hit. That's okay.. I can't imagine Jordan laughing, not angry at an accident. Cory will pay for it to be fixed. But Great team work! Thumbs up! Cheers! 🤟
nothing wrong with damaging the van when you're working.....we've all done it. It's when they get damaged during private use you hang your head in shame!

Nah, you don’t claim on insurance for that with a van. It’s a van - if it hasn’t got any damage, it’s not being used right…
Haha absolutely pissed myself at the "it's a nice father/son moment" comment by Reuben 🤣🤣👍👍👋
Classic
Best Reuben comment - “lick your fingers and touch the brown wire”….he’s passed his apprenticeship if he knows that old school trick.

Whats the point of paying all this money to insurance if you never use it! Chin up
I've noticed how mint your van is in previous videos... Now it finally looks like a work vehicle!
Cory: "I'll pay for it"
How much are you willing to pay to not be given the e-VW? AKA the Artisan Punishment Van!
I dunno, get paid for spending half the day waiting at a charge point for the van to charge...
