- The Jaguar XJC V12 manual Coupe has gone through a transformation over the past 8 weeks and today I got to see the engine bay painted in the bespoke Aston Martin green for the first time. Painting Classic Cars have worked miracles repairing the rusty sections on the body and it's time for the first coats of primer to be applied.

Never ceases to amaze me what skilled people can achieve..... the car is going to look amazing !
🤔 ... ceases
@@XB10001 Just a typo, apologies if you were offended !
@@ianashton886 not offended at all!
Why would I find that offensive?
@@XB10001 Correcting other's typos is being rude. 🙄
@@marcryvon 🤔 ... so?
Amazing colour choice... let's call it Harry's Racing Green!
I think you mean "Metcalfe Green" :)
@@thejaylim27 that works too!
As a nod to Harry's other life, Racing Cowpat Green.
You've absolutely nailed it with that colour choice. Going to look beyond stunning when completed.
You know that Harry is happy when the ‘megas’ and ‘chuffeds’ reach double figures 👍
I kept thinking of Allen Millyard - 'That's perfect! I'm well pleased with that!'
my favorite of Harry's cars
Yes, If you could only have one car a Manual V12 Jaguar Coupe *that works* is a bit cooler than, well anything really - very Noice
Same here.
My favorite is always the one that's being restored.
That's a tough one.... I love the little Elan.
I can honestly say that that is the best green I have ever seen in my 53 years years. Take a bow sir.
There are paint jobs, and there are paint jobs.
This is going to be a hell of a paint job!
Great work guys, lovely to see.
I first saw a 'C' being driven by John Steed in The Avengers and immediately thought it was the coolest design. Over 40 years later and I still think it's hard to beat for sheer style and panache. I'm pretty certain Harry's finished example with that glorious colour and manual conversion will easily earn the accolade of the finest XJC in the world.
I agree, it's up there together with the BMW e9 coupe and Ferrari 330GTC.
It's going to look stunning.
Late-1960's to early-1970's was a great time for elegant car designs.
I agree I'm to young era wise 37 but when I saw The Avengers on repeat I was hooked. Modified or stock they look stunning.
Not sure the name of the colour either that crazy Magenta purple, Prim rose yellow or Brown. Not from the 70s but my colour pallet screams 70s 🙂
Can't believe how much rust was in that car. It looked pretty darn good on the outside!
Being the age I am I remember back in the seventies British Leyland cars sitting in storage yards would start to rust before they go to the dealers and the dealers would have to fix them before sale!
Old Jags have had a real bad reputation for rust
@@ianmedium that's crazy
I guess they're used to it but it must be a nightmare finding more and more issues to attend to. The extra time, extra cost, explaining to the customer etc etc. Noble work though.
@@ianmedium
I think the majority cars back then, were rusting before they left the factory!
An audacious but spectacular colour choice. It's going to look unbelievable. Thanks Harry for putting all that money into this restoration so this gorgeous car can be treasured now and by future generations.
Stunning, can't stop admiring the quality and attention to detail. That's how everyone should do their jobs.
It's impressive to the degree you are used to quality. I thought the paint handling was not so impressive, or I've seen better.
@@johnsmith1474 Harry and the painter have both seen better than your better. And they don't care, at all.
That green you chose looks even better than I imagined, once sprayed on the car. It's going to be a stunner once finished, congratulations!
Thanks. Part of me thinks going for metallic green was a bit too obvious but then the Steed XJC was green. Then I think the shade Novol came up with (after scanning that Aston Martin DBX and deleting the flip) is mega. We'll know for sure once the bodywork goes green too!
@@harrysgarage I'm eager to see it too! Yes, you nailed the color, as it really seems to strike the right balance: it looks like something that could be from the 70s... But with a contemporary twist.
Your car will be way cooler than Steed's ride, in the end.
I see Harry´s Garage, I press like! And rush to watch it, wine within range!
similarly
How can anyone Dislike is beyond me!!
With Harry's garage full of exotica, supercars and other highly desirable vehicle, this XJC manual is definitely a favourite. Thankyou so much, Harry, for sharing the journey of this coupe with us mere mortals!
Better than when it first left the Jaguar showroom all those years ago.
Not really… It’s a patchwork quilt now, glad it’s not my car.
@@froggy0162 Well it isn't hater.
That Green's lovely.... but it deserves a saddle tan leather interior..
yes , a stunning combo
Na..oxblood for me,with the Lister wheels😀👍
Think would have looked better with the black flip in it
Totally agree. 👍
That green looks fantastic, perfect for a 70s Jag. A biscuit leather interior would suit it.
nope, black would be way better. beige interiors suck!
Absolutely fascinated by the craftsmanship that has gone into a rebuild like this. And I love greens and blue colours especially the green you have chosen H.
A nod back to the 70’s indeed , I can see a few envious Jaguar/ Daimler owners relishing the delight of a rebuild.
Well done on adding something so special to this crazy world that we live in. 👍🏻
Harry is like a doctor with a kind and understanding bedside manner when describing health of his cars.
Apart from the great taste in cars and colours you choose for them Harry what I like about your shows is you tell us what it costs from purchase price to end product. Most other utubers tend to forget that critical component which makes me feel like it’s a dream. You my friend make me feel exactly that like a friend. Great work and thank you for sharing your love for cars with everyone. Good luck 👍😃
I’m utterly impressed with the way they’ve recreated an off side rear wing by using a rear wing and half a door skin from four door panels that is sheer brilliance in my opinion...350 hours so far so maybe 500 odd total? I’m glad Harry has very deep pockets! Should probably be the best example in existence when completed 👍🇬🇧👌
I have a couple here in California. One was from Arizona and just had a couple of penny-sized areas of corrosion, otherwise perfect. With the growing popularity from Harry's 'saved' XJC, I may fill a container with these donor cars!!
Hi
British Rover green. Nothing better than this colour for Harry’s Jag v12. When it all comes together it will look marvellous. Restoration science.
I've always liked your XJC, but it's rapidly becoming one of my favourite of your cars, and that green is gorgeous. This is going to look stellar when it's finished.
Twenty-six thousand views in four hours. TV is dead. Long live channels like Harry's Garage! Magnificent colour for sure, I do like a green car. Currently preparing my own Daimler xj12 saloon for paint. If it turns out ten percent of what these guys have achieved, I'll be happy. Really enjoying this series, Harry.
Thank you.
Really interesting to see how your engine bay went from what looked like something from an archaeological dig to something so mint. And yeah that green is 100% aces! Great choice.
This jag will last a 100 years when it's all finished. Harry just as well you have very very deep pockets sir. 👏👏
500 Hours! That's going to leave a significant dent in the wallet, Harry. Cracking colour choice. One of my cars is Midnight Emerald, a bit darker than the green you've chosen but it still looks great in the sunlight. I am sure your are going to love yours. Thanks for sharing.
I wonder what hourly rate Harry is being charged? Even at £50/hr that’s £25K labour just for the body and paint and I reckon that skill level is going to be a lot more expensive than that!
@@markbennett6658 But there is more...
This painter knows his craft.
He is correct about every step, and has very good attention to detail. Not all paint shops are created equal! Your car is in very good hands.
I would like to see the blocking phase. Add another £800 to the bill..
These gentlemen have done a great job for you Harry, I can't wait to see the finished product.
How can you recognize a true petrolhead? When he spends more money restoring the car than it is actually worth. It's all about the love for a certain car. Keep up the good work guys. They are highly skilled craftsmen.
350 hours so far! At least another 150-200 to go....that's commitment. That colour reminds me of the green used on the MGR V8.
And my Volvo v70
Woodcote Green 👍
What a fabulous colour!! 🥰 And the repair work is absolutely second to none! It’s like Ernie Wise’s wig, you can’t see the join! Great work.
It’s a great improvement on my day when there is a Harry’s video
Hats off to all those at XJ Restorations / Painting classic cars, absolute best in the business
You can forget Ferrari's and Lambo's, the XJC has real class, it's understated, sophisticated and elegant. These are characteristics lacking in contemporary cars.
Contemporary cars are moulded plastic for a consumer market that doesn't care...SAD
Not really in the same categories here Scotty ! ! Like apples and oranges. Brit spirit vs Italian design. So different. GT vs track warriors. E Type vs 250 SWB. Rumble vs screams.
Please note that I admire both !
you can forget those apostrophes.
Totally agree. So exciting to watch it progress and I think the finished version is going to be the "car of the garage"! Can't wait!
@@danielgentili1320 As a classic car owner, I concur with your point 100%. I thoroughly despise contemporary cars. Utterly soulless, devoid of elegance and beauty. Overly complex, loaded with pointless 'tech' and so called driver aids. Garbage.
In addition to the teaser of the paint, the glimpse of the engine was excellent-going to be one of the best sorted of its type.
I just Harry's attitude, very low key, brilliant
Who else would talk about 5 to 600 hours of specialists work ($$$ +$) without a squirm !! 😱 Plus the mechanical complete rebuilds ! Oh mein Got ! 😳
True that he's used to Iain invoices !
Smiling for you when that engine bat was revealed. That colour is spot on.
That colour is superb and perfectly represents the period in which the car was built.
Thank you for this series. I am six months behind you with my Series II XJ6L. Will be having it redone in factory Old English White. Congratulations
Harry that color speaks to me, it says "I'm drop-dead gorgeous". Good for you, that XJC is going to be a knockout.
With this Jaguar restoration, together with the Lancia & Rolls Royce rebuilds, you are single handedly keeping the classic car restoration business going! It's always a pleasure & honour to see these craftsmen at work, & the attention to detail plus the quality of what they have done so far shines through on this Jaguar. The 'Harry's Green' paintwork looks stunning too.....can't wait to see the end result!
With that colour and that engine, it's going to look amazing.
So nice to see skilled people trying to do the best job they can do, given the circumstances.
Makes a change from the far too common - ‘whatever is just just enough’
‘This is very good’ is so much better than ‘That’ll do’
Love the green! Thank you for keeping these cars around.
WOHOR HOR HOOO 😆😆😆!!! WOW!! Great job harry. You deserve it mate great job. Cant wait to see the whole collection given some special HARRY LOVE 😆😆😆😆
Had my doubts, but that green is going to look brilliant when it’s finished!
Yes I liked the old colour alot but that will definatly look good.
The Jaguar will look better than new when finished, and that colour looks superb for the car 👍🏼
That's going to be a very nice jag. I did body repair fo 40 year it nice to see techs that do there job rite. very nice good for many more years.love your channel
That silver V12 is going to look stunning in that engine bay!
As much as I’m enjoying watching this resto, I can’t help but worry about how much rust my seemingly solid Coupe is hiding.
That colour looks perfect Harry 👍🏼
A good series which no doubt adds to the Harry/Jag friendship
Amazing workmanship on that body. And what a stunning green.
An other marvellous job Harry, God Bless you for bringing these wonderful old cars back from oblivion
Awesome Harry, I've enjoyed this series very much! Can't wait to see the next one!
Having rescued a 4.2 Daimler and restored it 40 years ago, I'm in awe! Love the colour of that new scheme! 👌
Seeing the before and after pictures it makes me wonder how the car held together this long.
Wow. It's great there are people with enough money to do things properly.
Awesome Jag. The coupe is a stunning shape. 😊👍
Wow at least in Canada there is a brand new BMW 2 series worth of labour on that project. It’s going to be absolutely amazing!
I suspect it'll be at least $75 grand USD before the body's done. Then engine and mechanical on top of that.
Doesn’t make sense? These jags aren’t commanding that kind of money. Harry is going to be seriously upside down on this from day one!
Stunning green for an XJC, great choice. So great to see an XJC receiving this sort of love and money. Will be some car when finished.
In the old days this form of craftsmanship was normal, today its a missing trade
Surely the fact that the car is this completely rusted and has been repeatedly repaired makes you appreciate just how untrue this is. There has always been good craftsmanship and bad. There was terrible work in the 50s and 60s and you are watching a video about brilliant craftsmanship from 2021. To think old was bad now is good, is to live in a memberberry fairytale.
Clearly not a missing trade as we're witnessing top quality craft manship across the Harry's car collection.
@@DrBoobY2K I presume you mean the other way round??
Should it be to think Old is good, New is bad is a mistake?
My remark was general, coming from the building industry it’s most difficult to find qualified labour to renovate old buildings, for example plastering and stuc trades for example
Harry, your XJC is going to look amazing when it's finished. You have every reason to be chuffed to bits!
Ahh I’m so invested in this, amazing restorations going on!!
It is so great to see these professionals work, and that colour will top it off, for sure!
Those dislikeing this are simply spilling a bucket of envy!
The colour reminds me of the fern green metallic that Aston Martin used on a DBS6 I saw about 45 years ago. Very handsome.
Those guys are absolute magicians! Harry has chosen the exact same color I had in mind for such a wonderful car! God Bless you sir, enjoy your pride and joy!
I nearly purchased a 86 Vanden Plas in mint condition from a New Jersey auction. This brings back some awesome memories.
Here in the U.S. we call it an English wheel, there it's a local wheel.
MEGA!… Envious of my all time dream car made even better - manual and updated engine - but so CHUFFED to be able to share its progress. Best content ever!
I can't wait to see the finished product Harry, You must be chomping at the bit to see it done. What a totally stunning colour.
Wow, there couldn't be a bigger comparison between this work and the Roller job. Amazing work.
Stunning choice that’s going to look amazing can’t wait 😊
Despite my love of the original blue that green has jewel like quality befitting of all that amazing metal fabrication. Inspiring, thanks.
Harry: I agree: That green is absolutely beautiful!! I was hoping you would pick BRG, but this color is very lovely indeed (not to mention tasteful). The contrast between the body "before" versus "after" is quite astounding. Most car owners would have abandoned this car once all that corrosion became apparent. Can't wait to see this one brought fully back to "new". Thank you.
Did he say 350 labour hours. That’s serious money.
@@noelnicholls1894 I assume Harry will tell us the total spend eventually. I will have my seat belt on for that one......
Many of us can only dream of having this done. Thanks Harry
Junior's going to be over the moon when 'His' baby's done....
Harry's continuation of the Fast fleet from evo is a superb idea. A total engine brain, great stuff H
Trigger's broom never looked this good. Serious car envy.
I wouldn’t be so sure, it’s only a rumour but some say he once upgraded both head & handle in one go
Very impressed with the body work repairs, but seeing the clips of the rampant tin-worm the car had, I'm not surprised with that, the XJC's were notorious for rotting before your very eyes. This car will look beautiful once completed and Painting Classic Cars are recreating a masterpiece with their attention to detail.
Brilliant video as always Harry, i've thoroughly enjoyed watching the series. Currently having similar work on my Saab 900 Turbo and am enjoying, as you, going back and forth to the workshop to see the progress.
This car is going to look the absolute business when complete. Manual transmission V12 coupé in a tasteful one-off color...fantastic.
That green reminds me of a Mk 2 jag colour but it would not have been so trick ,very nice
Reminds me of 1967 GM color "Verdero Green".
Wow, that's looking absolutely fantastic!!!! Can't wait to see it painted. So glad you're returning the Jag to better than new. She deserves it! Cheers.
Will there be a full cost breakdown Harry? 500 hours + parts, paint and an engine rebuild makes for an eye watering figure 😳💰💰
Going to write it all off anyway, and it's now a pieces parts car. I love how he says it looked and ran great before they tore it apart and found it's just a beater.
So great to see pure craftsmanship still exists.
That’s a very regal colour l’m impressed, l can’t wait for the final end result.
Good word ‘Regal’ 👍
Wow!!!!! That colour looks absolutely stunning, you chose wisely Harry
Now it's good to go for the next 5 years! Nah, just trash talking, that's a thing of beauty and they did a terrific job.
Harry, I think we are enjoying your car as much as you are.
Loving this series.
Me too!
I follow you and the yachts too 👍
I enjoy marvelling at things that I cannot afford.
He has a boat / yacht of some sort in Antibes!
I think you've nailed that colour. Can't wait to see it on the exterior!
Harry is like that uncle that you see once in a while that just play golf, but you feel 30-40 years ago was selling cars, insurance and doing these underground parties.
Underground parties? Harry seems like the kind of codger who was hosting cocktail parties where everyone listens to smooth jazz.
@@midnightkiteflight6333 Nah harry pops pills and slays the badger.
@@midnightkiteflight6333 Please total casual guy at day and underground parties at night.
I think you’ve struck a good balance there Harry.
‘Less obvious but still tasteful’
It’s looking bloody good so far 👌
Good stuff.
When I order my Turbo S paint to sample I'm asking for Harry's Green 😍
Or Aston Martin green!
Harry, thank you first of all for saving amazing automobiles and then to allow us all in on this restoration journey. It is utterly mind boggling to experience the expertise of the guys patching everything up and then seeing the result of the engine bay. What a gorgeous color you chose. Cannot wait for the next episode.
I’d love to visit Harry’s garage. He’d be like “come and see my Ferrari/Lambo/project 8” etc etc. I’d be like “take me to the XJC immediately” 😂
It was already my favourite car warts n all.... now it’s going to be my favourite car period!
You are a very lucky dude Harry, that car is going to look stunning in that green ,great colour choice ,but going on the job they’ve done to that engine bay ,it’s going to look absolutely stunning, can’t wait to see it finished
Amazing transformation. These guys are great. It doesn’t like it’s cheap…..😜
That’s one hell of a colour ... round of applause... can’t wait to see it done ... and in the Sun ...
I can’t believe how good that green looks definitely the right choice 100% really can’t wait to see it finished personally I think it’s going to be the best XJC I’ve ever seen
I don't know how you are waiting to see this finished! I am getting excited just watching this! Got to say great to see these craftsmen wax lyrically.... roll.on the next installment.
