Over the years working on cars I've tried everything. WD-40 also works, but it does leave an oily residue behind that needs to be cleaned up. Thanks for watching! Be sure to share the video link with others.
Great tips, I've been using this . method for a long time. For nylon jackets, GoJo hand cleaner worked into the oil spot, prior to washing works well too
I used to squish GoJo into oil and grease spots of my clothes as a young man. Toss in the washer with some Tide.. and there you go. White Levi's, pants of choice as a teen... cooler here while baking under the Florida sun on a motorcycle or top down mg. I was always fixing something that usually I had broke.
Its magic. :) anything similar that can do the same? Does it work if it sits in the oil for a long time? Since it seems like it being fresh and pressure helps. Also some people say if oil gets on leather to throw it out but why not make it match to put more oil I assume.

If it's only a minor layer of oil, scrub using liquid laundry detergent like Tide or All, otherwise try short blasts of non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner. Always test the spray where you cannot see first.
magical ! I see non chlorinated brake cleaners on your Amazon link but I don't see the specific brand . do all brands work the same ? thanks for your time and attention!
WOW! That was amazing! Now I will be able to impress the wife and I won't have to worry about hearing "I told you so, now you have to throw that shirt out"! Thanks........... 👍👍😁😁
It does. You want to blast the stain into the folded paper towel, otherwise it may spread out into a much larger faint stain. Always was using hot water after doing this.
Carb Cleaner contains higher levels of acetone. Bad Ju Ju on some synthetic materials. Cotton is quite hard to get cleaned like this. The Oil impregnates the cellulose cells. WD use to work for this but they lowered the propellant pressure it seems.
Can you be used on upholstery. I have some oil stains on cushion covers I know that I can put paper towels under that stain but I also have some on the sides of the sofa that I cannot take off so I obviously can’t put paper towels underneath the oil stain do you have any suggestions for that
Very cool tips. I was just saying you better have some good ventilation when you popped it up on screen lol. Thanks. The cleaners union is gonna put a hit on you so watch out! 😆
@@electronicsNmore The active ingredient is a surfactant. Per Wikipedia, compounds that lower the surface tension (or interfacial tension) between two liquids, between a gas and a liquid, or between a liquid and a solid. Surfactants may act as detergents, wetting agents, emulsifiers, foaming agents, and dispersants. So yes, water soluble. Proably more effective on non-petrolem based stains. And it may fade some materials if the bond between the dye and substrate is weak enough.
I have some motor oil on a good pair of jeans. They have been laying on my workbench for about a year, uncleaned, unused. I'll try the brake cleaner on them and report back.
Hi Doug. I am not getting any youtube emails when anyone I sub uploads a new video. I am going to setup a new email server. and see if that works. My setting have not changed,on ether site. Liked, shared. All my best.
No, it works. I have another video showing old disgusting motor oil being removed from a cotton shit using mineral spirits, and the brake parts cleaner is even better.
Axle grease will come out just the same as the grease he used in the video. The "trust me" at the end of comments is usually a clear indication of someone not knowing what they're talking about or making something up.
Just in time! I have an oil-stained shirt that needs this! Thank you very much for the helpful video!
I bet you do! It must be all the time you spend in your shop making those oil testing videos! :-) Thanks for watching!
Don't know how you come up with these ideas, thank you for this excellent video.

Yes, Original Gojo lanolin cleaner on leather/vinyl works great.

Just tried it on a t-shirt I got grease on and it worked great! Thanks for the tip. Didn't know brake cleaner is the same as dry cleaning fluid.
Great! Now give it very light scrubbing using liquid laundry detergent, then throw it in the wash using hot water.
Nice practical information! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

Good tip, trichlorethylene works pretty good as well.
Never used it, but I think it's more hazardous(cancer causing). Thanks for watching!

It works great, but if a person washes the clothing or fabric first, it can be more difficult to remove. Always do before washing.

What method would you use for car upholstery and carpet since you can't put the paper towel behind it?
If it's only a minor layer of oil, scrub using liquid laundry detergent like Tide or All, otherwise try short blasts of non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner. Always test the spray where you cannot see first.
Amazing. Almost like a magic eraser. If Marshall Brodien was alive he would give you a thumbs up.
LOL Thanks for watching!
Very neat. Any reason not to do the oil stain from the back side?
The oil soaked in, so it won't help too much like the grease smear. Thanks for watching! Be sure to share the video link.

I saved a lot of clothing using that spray. Always clean it as soon as possible for the best results. Thanks for watching!
That was pretty damn good.
It does. You want to blast the stain into the folded paper towel, otherwise it may spread out into a much larger faint stain. Always was using hot water after doing this.
Which is it, Brake cleaner or brake parts cleaner
Carb Cleaner contains higher levels of acetone. Bad Ju Ju on some synthetic materials. Cotton is quite hard to get cleaned like this. The Oil impregnates the cellulose cells. WD use to work for this but they lowered the propellant pressure it seems.
I used WD-40 years ago, it worked good, but you had to really soak the area with detergent to get rid of the oil and wd-40 odor. Thanks for watching!
Will this work for old stains?
I found that much older stains that have been through the wash 1 or more times, harder to remove. You can usually get them much lighter.
Can you be used on upholstery. I have some oil stains on cushion covers I know that I can put paper towels under that stain but I also have some on the sides of the sofa that I cannot take off so I obviously can’t put paper towels underneath the oil stain do you have any suggestions for that
Test the non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner spray in an area you cannot see, allow to dry, then wait a day or 2.
Does this also work for oily stains that have already set in and been through a wash?
Possibly, but you never wash before treating. Try it.
Very cool tips. I was just saying you better have some good ventilation when you popped it up on screen lol. Thanks. The cleaners union is gonna put a hit on you so watch out! 😆
😂 Thanks for watching!
Does that also work for carbon impregnated oil too ? (Dirty oil)
Yes
Very good!
Glad you liked the tip! Please share.
Have you tried Folex?
No, but if it's water based, I doubt it will come close to the non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner.

What about older stains that you've tried defacto stain removers on that never really work anyway? Any real help with that?
Older, ground in stains are more difficult, but I think it will at least lighten up the stain.
@@electronicsNmore I'll give it a try and let you know how it worked. Thanks.

Yes. LOL. I upload just about everything to my channel. Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmore every video of yours is very important to watch. Love the way you choose to make videos on some needy topics.
If you hand washed the material twice and got a faded stain will the method still work?
Your last hope. :-) It's cheap to try.

A year is a long time, but I bet a lot or all of the oil will be removed. Good luck!
Will this work on diesel fuel?
Try non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner
@@electronicsNmore Will do. Thanks!
How do I put a paper towel under the carpet or upholstery in my car???
Just blot.
Nice 🙂👍
