I love that double drop D guitar tuning in your vid's !! I like your stuff, esp. camping, but the background music is just what I like to play. Does Dave have a soundtrack ?? Because ... sometimes I just sit and play (for 50+ years) and that drop D music Dave has playing is just the type I like to play when the party's winding down and I'm just sittin' there playing in the background. Dave's background music is beautiful!

I've been watching you since like four years ago and since then, me and my dad been looking at land to build a cabin on, and now it's so weird watching your videos after buying land and building our first 10 by 12 shed on it. It's a weird sense of accomplishment, and during that entire journey from dreaming of owning a nice plot of woods up north, to building our first structure, I've just been watching your videos, but now it hits different. Past me from four years would have been so proud!
Dave, You've been a huge inspiration throughout my journey!

Dave I really have to thank you for your videos. We have built a cabin similar to the first one, same outhouse and many other whipple inspired masterpieces. My wife and I have really had to do things on the cheap since we both lost our income and appreciate all your ideas for surviving Canada on the cheap. My largest expense is now Insulin and food. We are really scraping the bottom to build our one bed house, finish our outdoor kitchen and shower. We absolutely love this lifestyle but the mother in law thinks I am doing her daughter wrong. Oh well. Wife and I are incredibly happy and learning new skills and ways to save money or make money however we can without the nonsense of cities. We are surrounded by fantastic neighbors and people in general and have you to thank for a lot of it. God bless you, kind SER.

The wife built us two queen sized beds from some rough cut pine we had. She found a couple of designs she liked and in a few hours had one bed built. She used a gray paint wash so the wood grain shown through and it looks amazing. We built our entire home ourselves using rough cut pine from our 30 acres. We had some Amish sawyers cut it for us and we built the house ourselves. Saved SO much money on just the wood alone. A Big box store was going to charge us around $11,000 for the wood which was inferior to begin with. The only thing we ended up buying was the subflooring and zip siding/roof sheathing, plus some custom made floor trusses for the 2nd floor loft. We started our project two years ago and are just about finished now. We documented the process and can now go back and see where we began and all the steps along the way.

These DIY bunks are every bit as functional and a good degree cooler…..and the PERFECT touch for that cabin. Some stain and perhaps some high-gloss spar urethane would have those things sealed up tight as a duck’s rear for a LONG time.

Another great DYI video, Dave. I totally agree about the rustic furniture. Many years ago, I helped a good friend build an all cedar bed frame, king size. When finished, though, it was really too heavy for 2 people to move, but we managed. Reqarded our labors with several cold containers of product of Anheuser=Busch.

When my world feels too overwhelming and I don’t have the ability to escape to nature, your videos really help provide a brief escape. Thank you for all of the wholesome goodness and instruction you share!

Great video and excellent project. The logs bring the interior of the cabin to life. Thank you for making this. And don't feel any pressure to make videos too frequently. You have created a solid body of work here already and have nothing to prove.

As usual, a very enjoyable and calming video!
I was super frustrated after an hour and a half wrestling with our smart tv and despite I being one who’s frustration lingers for a while, I was completely chilled out by the end of the video. Went up right at the perfect time!
