This is obviously an incredibly practical investment. Now they can stream anywhere and not have to sacrifice screen size. Next logical step is to make sure this can go underwater. 🙃
My first thought was 'it can't be called a laptop if it doesn't fit on your lap' so the video ending with Katelyn having the laptop on her whole laps was just perfection! I love it!
I guess they made that decision because of the trackpad's position. If they used a keyboard with number pad, they would have to put the trackpad on the left side of the keyboard, which would be designed for left handers. On the other hand, if they put the trackpad on the right side of the number pad, the keyboard would be way off center of the screen, which wouldn't be very good for typing. The third solution, would be to make it in the same place as with conventional laptops, putting the trackpad below the keyboard. It would be a reasonable solution, and a full keyboard would fit just fine, but having all that space beside the keyboard, I guess they made the most comfortable decision, considering they are all right handed players.
A quote that really resonated with me this episode was Evan talking about 3d printing the brackets for the electronics. "Was there an simpler way to do this? Maybe, but this makes me happy." Sometimes we can lose sight of the making process with ideas of 'ease' and 'efficiency'! Even with something as 'silly' as a giant laptop, remembering and/or intentionally doing things in a way that makes you happy instead of the most efficient way I think is a part of what makes creating and making interesting and fun. So what if there's an easier way to do it. It makes you happy, then do it!

Using extruded aluminium on all four sides and then replace the plywood with aluminium sheats with some structural supports to hold the equipment inside would probably reduce the weight of the whole thing. You could then remove the back and some of the structural metal inside the screen housing would also help a lot. It would even let you reduce the thickness of the lid. You also missed out on having the logo on the back being backlit. You should also add a safteystrap for the screen so it doesn't fall down and maybe some fold out legs under it. A fun project anyhow.
My thought is also they underestaimated plywood - it is very strong and with that frame it could have been half as thick with only maybe just some strategic reinforcements. Another thing is that they should have batteries in parallel so that one would not discharge faster than the other. If they kept aluminum parts electrically insulated from electronics then it is maybe good they did not use aluminum plates to cover everything, it's just safer.

The ultimate gaming laptop could be made like this. A normal sized full featured keyboard + a built in mouse pad, good speakers, a secondary display, a niche for the mouse to rest when the lid is closed, a gaming keypad on the left or right, depending on if you're left or righthanded. It'd be especially nice if it was detachable so it could rest beside you. Maybe a niche with a wireless gamepad that has a charger built in. There's just so much space that could be used to create something amazing. and it'd be more practical if it was built in a fancy briefcase. Such a monster laptop would have a massive battery and could even have hookups for solar panels/an auxiliary battery. It could have attachable legs like backpacking chairs to rest on your lap, whether you're sitting on a sofa, a chair or someone else's lawn.
You guys put so much time and money into every single video you make, honestly you both just go above and beyond. (But I’m sure the supervisor does most of the hard work 😅)

I want the world to see this! Seriously incredible, I shared it with my siblings that are tech nerds haha. So amazing! I bet Guinness book of world records would consider this a very BIG success.
I believe in the power settings you can manually activate power saver mode, similar to what laptops use when they know they are on battery power. This might prevent it from drying too much power.
I love everything about this! The giant keyboard, it's a tech project, we got resin time and the fact that I got to watch it on my lunch break after binging your old videos for the last 2 weeks lol. Loved this, keep it up!
Batteries actually is not a problem at all. As the basic hardware for a laptop doesn't very in size and is pretty small, the bigger you make the laptop, the more battery space you get, relatively.
Ordered my sidewalk chalk words are hard t-shirt yesterday super excited for it to come in! Love your videos thanks for always bringing a smile to my face ❤

The world demands answers, if it is to make sense.
12:27 at this point i was screaming my heart out saying "IT'S SIDEWAYS" as if the world was ending :")
I love the very Napster inspired logo so much! It’s an adorable take on a classic
You guys put so much time and money into every single video you make, honestly you both just go above and beyond. (But I’m sure the supervisor does most of the hard work 😅)
With every video, u think to yourself, "can it even get crazier?" and then E&K uploads a new video.
Love your videos guys, keep up the excellent work.❤
I want the world to see this!
Evan and Katelyn should team up with Glarses to make the world's biggest desktop computer set up lol. This was amazing! Great start to my weekend! 😊
Love your videos thanks for always bringing a smile to my face ❤
thank you for the support!
@@EvanAndKatelyn love you guys I’m so glad to show my support 💕
You should ask Linus from LTT to help you overclock it :P I would LOVE to see you work on a project with Alex from his team. Martina from NerdForge made an incredible PC with them and it was literally one of the best videos I've watched in a long time, many people also shared those feelings :P
Oh gahd please don`t put Alex and Evan in one room. The jankines will explode.
I feel that this should've been a colab with Glarses. The two channels combing and collaborating to make a huge functional "laptop" would have been better. Though, it's still an amazing build and I love it.

Katelyn: I am not pleased.
Evan: *Walk of Shame*
Omg you guys, so hilarious! I love it ❤
He got away with it being not level, but a sideways cat-related logo is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!
You two always come up with crazy ideas and bring them to life I just love it man XD ❤
Y’all should have done glow in the dark resin or neon resin so it would glow like the leds?!?!?!!!!???😮😮🎉🎉
I loved it when Evan scratched Katelyn's face, so nice of him. Also, what a fun way to play video games and watch stuff
Hopefully his glove was clean...
@Christopher Elliott Oh no, I didn't think about that 😂
At this point what can’t they make. You guys really know how to make us smile and I love you guys for that 🥹🫶
Can’t believe I just heard about you. I have NEVER in my life was so invested in a video!
Great video ! Never expect less from this great couple!
