A Chevy Dealer local to use sold a GMC Yukon XL. When it arrived we found suspicious items on and in the vehicle that were red flags of them selling it and having a customer return the vehicle. WE BUSTED THEM and got the ultimate revenge.

Buying a Car Doesn't Have to Suck™
Mike as a used dealer you should know better that there is a reason why a franchise dealer is sending one of their vehicles to auction!
The father and son duo at Car Edge are discussing all sorts of dealer and automaker scams and issues these days.
Bubble market breeds fraud and deception.
I like how you go the extra mile to make sure your cars are functioning properly. You obviously care about your customers and the reputation of your dealership.
Transmission issues. I really wish we could still get a manual transmission in new vehicles. I’m not lazy I’ll drive a stick anywhere in any traffic. I know it’s not going out on me for the most part.
I am rather fond of "three on the tree" shifters
Still don’t see the scam. It was acquired at the auction which means "as is," I believe.
@johnvenuti3245 Please inform me. I’m not a car business,an and don’t understand the whole matter.
Maybe figure it out before posting your nonsense@@tommoran236
IKR. "The car is burgundy and yesterday was Tuesday and the radio was on..." therefore...SCAMMED!!
There are different lanes at car auctions. Green lane, arbitration. Yellow lane, arbitration limits, red lane no arbitration "as is". More than likely this was ran thru green or yellow since its so new.
More deceptive than “scam”. Shady business either way. But it’s a dealer. I expect nothing less
I kicked that auction website to the curb for this exact reason. There is no way to do a thorough inspection without a road test. And they run the other way when you try to arbitrate them
You're a really solid and trustworthy guy ...i'd buy from you in a second .
He buys a GM without looking at it, and he's surprised that he doesn't have a great experience? Hahahaha
When you trust somebody this shouldn’t happen, but these days dealers like the one he purchase the vehicle are as trusted as a ‘3 dollar bill’🤷🏽♂️
You’ve been in the business long enough to know all the junk goes to the auctions.
You should check the vehicle out in person before buying any auction vehicle. Auctions are a good place to drop junk. The good vehicles are sold on the lot most of the time.
Transmission issue wouldn't have shown up on an inspection. Need to be able to drive it.
@vicarod he would have seen the temporary tags on the vehicle at the auction and gone from there.
@@glenshepard6960
Good point. Very hard to only look at vehicles in person at auction and keep inventory numbers up.
People aren’t always available to check out cars across the country. There are independent services that you’ll pay to do that for you. Anyone can pull a Carfax on a car they’re interested in to get a better overall picture of the vehicle.
Why didn't he see the temp tag in the auction pictures?@@glenshepard6960
Rarely does any vehicle I have get to the lot before I have driven it 50 to 100+ miles.
I am confused on how you were scammed, and how you "made" the dealer take it back? You're around E-ville so it's likely it came thru Wolfe's. It's just another used truck and you've got an hour after the deal is made to drive it, if it was LG or R&D. Or the auction will do it for you. Personally I rarely trust anyone to do it for me. Regardless, after that hour it's yours barring title issues and a few other rare items. Been that way at every other auction I've used...so how are you making anyone take a truck back after you or yours missed problems?
Yeah...the 8 speed transmissions that they hurried up to put together and put in trucks because their 10 speed transmission wasn't ready yet is something people need to know about.
Dodge was told by ZF the 9-speed automatic transmission for testing was to be ready, but was not so ZF sent 6-speed for testing.
9-speed was ready year later to debut in 2015 Chrysler 200.
I have 2016 200 very good transmission.
The 8 and nine speeds have been a disaster since Introduction. Too many choices for the computer.
An honest car dealer is like a unicorn. Very rare. Lon from Ohio...
Not all of the cars at the auction are junk but all of the junk cars are at the auction. So beware of what you buy.
Mike, I'm a small family used dealer. My vehicles I sell for $3900 or lower, I only drive them 10 or so miles plus extended time sitting at idle to check cooling system. The other vehicles, $5000 to $50,000,we drive a minimum of 50 miles. I have my employees take turns taking them home and errands. I can relate to the franchise stores getting over on the used dealers. Some of my worse mechanical purchases were from the big stores. ATB and keep pushing. People like you and I will change the way customers look at car salesmen. Honesty!
I love this!! More people like you in this industry will make it great.
Cause there buying trans from same company that makes them for other companies and are very cheap😢
In your video you mentioned explorers have transmission problems you know how to fix them. Could you share how you fix them. I bought a 2011 explorer from another dealer to sell. Drove it for 100 miles now the transmission is shifting strange.
Yukon-lifter problem???
I have been a car salesman for many many years . Always wheb I traded in car on another I drive with the car . I told my customers : I would be a bad salesman If I traded in your with problems . They always understood . And the other thing what always bothered me : People think that we try to scam every customer . We don’t want those people complain and warranty etc etc. We want happy customers , earn a few bucks and no complaints !
That's because Manual transmissions are best and they are being added out...
People can take shots at Mr Chevy here, but I learn something I can use from every video. Thank you, Mr Dude!
My local dealership worked with me to unwind a deal, I will forever buy my cars from them. I understand this case was a scam but dealership truly wanted to help me out. Nothing wrong with the car I took back. There are good dealerships that work with people! Love your channel
Moral of the story. Run away from GM vehicles. They’ve been making junk for years.
Exactly. GM=Garbage Motors!!
😂😂 lol 2000 Yukon -10 yr, 2007 Avalanche 7 yr, 2013 1500 Sierra 5 yr, 2018 1500 Sierra still driving today. Not a bit of trouble with any of them ! Moral of the story don’t believe what someone says ! Every make vehicle has lemons, ontop of that lot a people don’t do regular maintenance and beat them , then when they break down it’s blamed on the manufacturer .
@@TedJ71 Let’s see the resale value of your vehicles listed compared to comparable Toyota versions. You’ve spent thousands of dollars keeping those vehicles afloat. You’ve spent hours at the mechanic. I know. I also owned GM products and will NEVER own another GM product again!

Mike I appreciate all the knowledge you share. Been watching since you worked at your former Chevrolet dealership.
In Mt Oliver Pittsburgh, there is an honest dealership, called Beckman Plymouth.
The only advertising Beckman does is the license plate frame on the back of the cars they sell.
Beckman Plymouth is not located on the main street Brownsville Rd, but in a back a street of Mt. Oliver.
One day I was talking to a man and I noticed that he had a Beckman license plate frame on his car.
I asked him about Beckman. He said that they were the best dealership in the area.
He said, "If you took your new Plymouth in for service. Beckman would do all the warranty work necessary, and recall work without asking " Beckman only serviced cars bought at Beckman.
Beckman lost its Plymouth dealership when Plymouth was shut down.
Beckman doesn't have a new car brand, now. Beckman is surviving as a Used Car dealership. I still see Beckman license frames on used cars Beckman sells.
In this market a yukon with less than a 100000 miles from a new car dealer at auction is a big red flag
Been reading about used car dealerships. Over 40% of vehicles have speedometers turned back.
What a shock, a dishonest dealership! Truthfully that is the norm. Just like the ages old up sell when you hit the finance Dept after your new car purchase.
The dealer sent the vehicle to auction where its sold as is to people that supposedly know what they ate doing . Then there is this idiot
That ford has the slowest trunk open close ever😂
Question: why can all this be corrected via manufacture warranty? Is it used and past the window?
Every dealer is un honest to customers nothing new.
Ain't that the truth???
Carfax? Autocheck? I believe their is a bulletin that you exchange the transmission fluid with different updated fluid 😮
Transmission "Life Time" fluid could be a factor
So, I am an auto tech, I have in my bay RIGHT NOW a Red 2017 GMC Yukon WITH A 6.2, iT HAD A 80K on the clock. I put a torque converter in it (yep pulled trans, NOTE; ITS AN 8L90 8 speed , NOT6L80 6 speed) and flushed out trans and cooler lines and put LOW VISCOSITY fluid (as recommended by GM) and the converter shudder is gone. GM put wrong fluid in it from the factory. If its a converter shudder, under 100k, a fluid change and converter will fix it. Negotiate.
I use to go to auctions. I know that you know more and have greater insight on these things. One thing that could be happening is, either new bidders or phone bidders and each has an off camera rep making the call. Then the bids start going so quickly and next thing you know someone’s saying, “hold on!!! I said yes to 27300 NOT 27600 pull that bid!!!” Then it gets retracted and at times it’s a domino effect! 🤷🏻♂️
That's a seat belt cutter
Your first mistake was thinking any dealership is honest and ethical lol
Love your content Mike💪
I've been buying cars from wholesale sites for years, anyone who would buy a car with a temp tag on it must be very inexperianced. The temp tag was on the vehicle before you bought it and you purchased it anyway, actually your daughter purchased it and when you got back from vacation you scammed the dealership that listed the vehicle on the wholesale site. Obviously if the dealership was trying to hide the fact that it had transmission issues they would have removed the temp tag and made the vehicle appear as though it was still on the lot, by putting stickers indicating the year or equipment on it. I love how you post one video saying are we making a mistake leaving our daughter, with little experiance, in charge, and then create videos saying that you were scammed because you allowed her to buy cars.
Wow you act like you were there🫠
we also just appraised a vehicle that had been sold buy this guy and the vehicle had been in an accident with damage so bad, it was labelled "disabling" on the carfax,
@@chrisjesop you are clearly lying😂💀
where would you like the carfax emailed
@@chrisjesop nice try troll 😂
Your first mistake is buying a GM PRODUCT.
I put 381,000 miles on an '06 Mercury Grand Marquis. Still runs like new. Never had any problems with the transmission.
if the buyer had purchased an extended warranty on this would it have paid to fix it ?
No such thing as an honest and ethical factory dealer.
PERIOD!
Was the dealership that scammed you COYLE Chevrolet here in Clarksville by any chance? One of their techs decided to tighten the axle nut (with his powerful compressed air tools) on my 2001 plastic Saturn SL2 stickshift because "something was loose". He didn't bother to investigate what was actually loose. Getting the axle nut off was perhaps the hardest 45 minutes of my life. I ended up cross-threading the shaft during the act of removing the nut. I had to drain the manual transmission fluid and replace the axle shaft ($45 from RockAuto). Plus the hassle of an alignment. COYLE decided they did nothing wrong. COYLE will never see another penny from me.
So it’s not covered by warranty?
My buddy bought one in August in Peoria IL and used it 8 days. That's it, he took it back and bought a truck across the street.
The new car prices keeping going up and the quality keeps going down.
At least your were able to recover most of your loss from the selling dealer and avoid arbitration with the auction house.
Black Hawk UH 60 I had a fly over real close the other day, Chevy dude! 🫡🤠
Get'em Chevy Dude! Grrrrr
But what is to stop them from shipping it across the country.
How’s it feel to be on the other end now?
If they are so slimy, why did they take the vehicle back from the previous buyer?
How many cars have you ever seen accepted back to the dealership?
Nobody changes their transmission fluid. These newer 8 and 10 speed transmissions are finicky and less forgiving than older transmissions. You have to stay on top of fluid changes or you will have problems early on.
Yup. Friend has a 2019 Colorado with 50k. 8 speed had major torque converter shutter. I swapped out the fluid with the Mobil 1 hp fluid according to the Gm tsb and it’s much better
There are red flags all over that car. Why would you buy it in the first place?
My Subaru laughs...and then needs it's diaper changed
Lol honest and ethical salesman
Hi, so I am in the process of getting a new car I have never purchased or owned a new car and I am very nervous about the dealership process. I was looking into getting a Toyota GR 86, The original plan was to go with a 2023 because of doing research and finding that these cars don't depreciate much over time for their value, that I was going to go with a new one just to get one with less miles and less worries of breaking down with a used one. Now I know it's always better to utilize better used cars when possible but again with the pricing being a couple thousand difference and these cars are getting more popular as of recent. But lets start from the top, I went to the dealership just to see what they had in their inventory for this car because of my area as well they aren't the easiest thing to find, and was told they do not have any on the lot so it would have to be held from the manufacture if I was really interested in the car. Because this has been my dream car for a few years now with of course of looking at similar cars like the BRZ and the FRS I still have come back to this car every time, I did the hold on the car from the dealer in November. We are now in February and I have just gotten a call from the dealership saying that they have a car to my liking but I was then informed that they are no longer making the 2023 model anymore because of the release of the 2024, Which is also not really a problem because of again the value not changing much even when it comes to the newer models either due to the fact the interior stays the exact same even from the 2019 models. But now my fear is that I will be up charged for a newer car just because of the year it was made and I wasn't made aware of the fact they were no longer making the 2023 when I did the hold until this month. So far the dealership has been very open to answering questions and helping when I have had issues with things due to my research I have been doing for months for this car. I have really been diving into how to get the best price for what I am getting but because the car is so new I don't really have a base line to go off of other then previous models and was wondering if you had any advise about maybe some questions I could ask or more information I could find so that when it comes time to talk numbers with the dealer I know my information that I am going in with? So far what I know is the car is a base model, which I stated I would like a premium mostly for the heated seats in winter which the base does not have, and I am a music lover so the base model I will get will also not come with the 2 extra speakers either. These are things I will be bringing up when it comes to the cost of the car. But another question I had was have you ever heard or a popularity charge? I had asked about it when we looked over brief numbers when I went to look into the car in the first place and I asked about this charge and the explanation given to me was as follows "That is just an extra charge because of how fast this car sales from our lot" or something close to that statement. I know this is something I probably should have put more thought into but at the time I wasn't aware of how dealers work and I am more informed currently, but I was also just wanting to see if you have any tips on that as well. Thank you!
Wow. You make videos that make you look good and fair and honest. Sounds like a car dealer. LOL.
If they are scammers why not put them on blast? They should be taken out of business! Who knows if they are scamming their customers as well!
Nice, dealers ripping off other dealers. Now you can just guess at all the scams they run on YOU!
Great content..thank you. Maybe a steady cam for your face shots....you're shaking all over my tv😂
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. My 2016 Ford Explorer sport has never been to the shop for anything other than regular maintenance
I like those. Pretty torquey too.
Well he did say gmc Yukon not ford
@@Chalateco913 Well..... re-watch the video. When he sees the ford that he has, he mentions it. "These infamously have transmission issues" 🤔
I personally like the Explorer/Taurus platform. I get older/higher mileage ones though and do plenty of repairs.
My 2017 Explorer XLT has been flawless.
A dealer scamming another dealer...think that is where dog eats dog came from...WOW
My 07 F-250 has a 4 speed automatic transmission. Never had a problem. The new ones have a 10 speed. Nothing but problems.
Cars are being sold at auction because they have issues
I don't buy cars from large dealer groups that would normally sell those trade in's. There is a Nissan/Hyundai store that sells their 2004-2012 trade ins that most other franchise stores would send to Mannheim or sell on Backlotcars. When those type of stores sell a 2015, I think to myself "why aren't they selling it themselves?". I just don't bother looking at em....
I bought an 2003 Toyota from a used car lot; the car still had a Carmax inventory sticker on the windshield. Carmax didn't want to lot anything that old. I've got a Nissan dealer just south of Chicago that apparently will sell anything; when I was looking they had some seriously old and damaged vehicles on the lot, must have thought they'd make a little profit on the trade-ins (2001 GMC Yukon SLE at $2,494 today).
@@markh.6687 franchise stores or throwing their "quality" out the door for profit. They used to care about the type of cars they sold and pit profit behind quality. Post COVID exposed their greed.
Can you do a video on the explorer transmissions and how you fix them...
1. Take hand grenade. 2. Pull grenade pin. 3. Throw grenade at Explorer. 4. DUCK!! 5. Profit!
Which one? 6f35 or 6f50. 6f35 is found in the 4 cylinder turbos and 6f50 in the v6 ones. 6f50 is a solid trans. 6f35, torque converter goes and contaminates the trans. For both, change the fluid often with a drain and fill and use Mercon LV
Are sellers required to disclose known problems? I’ve always assumed auction cars where there because they had issues.
I bet I have a good idea which dealer you're talking about. I also live in S Indiana.
I don’t trust New/Used car salesman and Finance People. Took their word too many times.
Ford "Exploder"? Why do you call it that? I have a 1999 Ford Explorer with 247,656 miles on it and apart from the driver seat needing 2X4s to keep it upright, it looks and runs great!
dealers don't send things to auction because they are a good investment. they see the vehicle as being worth too little for them to fix up and resell, aka not profitable to fix and sell.
Exploder?!? Check the 9:00 mark. It sure sounds like you called the Explorer an Exploder!
had a Esclade like that gm store did a trans flush and reprogram and its perfect now
Only had my car for like 7 months
that only leaves about 2-3 other Chevy dealerships in So. IN/Lou area and one has a worse rep than the others
Torque converter shudder can be fixed with software. We use HP tuner
Sounds like the issues I'm having with my 2021 Expedition Max Limited. Actually almost returned it to the used car dealer which was Echo Park. Decided to keep it and give it a try but the Tans and Suspension were bad. Gonna trade it soon hopefully. Going in for the 4th time in the 10k miles I've had it for the trans.
Back in1989 I purchased a new Hyundai it was junk .
That was 1989 😂 try 2009 they were at least decently reliable before the engine recalls
I buy cars used 1-2 years old off an early lease termination, pay significantly less and then sell it after 2.5 years. I write the entire amount off on my business and do it all over every 2.5 years. I never get over 40k miles thus resale value is great and I’m in the win every time.
Sad to think that they would unload a car like that without notifying the new owner of the potential issues.
It went to an auction where it is sold as is .
@@sarahann530 It is sold as-is, but fraud is still fraud. They likely took it back to avoid the litigation and to retain good standing with the auction house.
@@1wadesdad Auction vehicles are sold as is . There is no liability on behalf of the auction . Learn the business
It is a really pretty SUV
Could you determine if the car ran over something causing all these issues
Or just poor GM quality
GM has so many issues with those 6 speed transmissions.
6 speed 8 speed 10 speed.
If it came from the dealer, and if parts are available they would replace the 1 failed part. Even if it was warranty gm would only allow the dealership to replace say a $5.00 oring .not the whole transmission. So it may not be $5000 for a transmission as you claim. To the dealership they could get it lot ready for $1000 if it was on their dime.
Another great video. Thank you. 👍 👍 👍
You are getting what you deserved, that is how you deal with the customer on daily bases.
I do? Can you provide some FACTS to back up your slander?
At 9 minutes, did he refer to that vehicle as an exploder? 😅
now you know why most buyers do not trust dealerships anymore...
Just like the timberland Justin Timberlake song, what goes around comes back around
A dealer scamming a dealer….!
Isn’t this all under new car powertrain warranty?
It’s a auction vehicle for a reason I never assume anything is good.
All car dealers and salesmen are unethical, low level creatures. All not some. This guy is doing this for a reason, not for us, for himself.
That’s why you don’t by from auction ! Not all cars at an auction or bad but good cars don’t go to auction .
😂😅🤣😂 gotta love it when the uninformed from the peanut gallery start chirping.
Why is it not the manufacture that has to fix it ? I don’t know that much about cars but I would think if the dealership got it with a bad transmission then the manufacturer would have to pay to have it fixed.

Auction sales woohoo 😂
How were you able to return it after you bought it at auction?
Likely a "good will" accepting return by the Chevy dealer (they don't need to be sued by Mike, or have Mike reveal the name of the stealership, or have the auction start giving them issues if there's legal language between auction and dealer as to 'merchantability of the vehicle').
