Yeah mate the chassis and body on these are separated by rubbed body mounts, so any time there is flex between the two the bullbar will flex like shown. That's why they need a minimum 25mm gap between the bar and bodywork when fitted, otherwise they'll rub hard against the panel.
I’ve just purchased SCF rock sliders. They are not cheap but after i broke my stock side steps i can’t risk my panels. Repairing a panel damage costs more than rock sliders. And the SCF rock sliders also look great! Any way, i like the video, seems like you guys had a good fun!
That was awesome. Some great filming angles especially when walking behind the car in tight areas. The sound track was really complimentary from around the half point onwards. Great job. Good challenging tracks. The video was free flowing with no dull slow parts and didn’t show 4 or 5 cars continuously driving through the same spot like so many videos do when a few cars are in the party.
Cheers Karl! I will try in future videos to do that. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of film gear as of yet so the audio quality is something I am looking to improve.
Not sure about rocky or Bush terrain, but Prado 120 is really capable when it comes to desert drives conquering dunes. I own one and regularly go for desert drives and despite having stock setup, I've never been stuck.
Hello, nice tour. Your Prado 120 series, in the tank, how much liters petrol or diesel putting?. My Prado 120 series only 80-liter petrol putting in the tank.
Hi mate, What model Prado do you have? I would love to advise on gear selection, but the 120 Prado's have a few different options which makes giving a single answer a bit wrong. Do you have Traction Control? Centre Diff Lock? Automatic or Manual? Petrol or Diesel?
@@offroadcrusader hey mate it's 2004 prado.v6 petrol.automatic.120 series and I'm not sure about the traction control or centre diff lock.thanks in advance.
Nice vid 👍. Do yours have any traction aids like T/C or lockers (Center/ rear) ? Also how u finding it having a rooftop tent while doing 4wd ,specially considering you’ll be too heavy and might be in funny angles ? . I want to get a rooftop, but weighing my pros and cons :) . Thanks
Thanks Sameera! No traction control or lockers on my Prado, except for the factory centre diff lock. Josh's Prado did have the traction control however and it is interesting watching his 4WD tackle obstacles compared to mine. The RTT does make a small difference, and on very severe angles you will feel the weight up there. But for 95% of offroading its not an issue, apart from the height!
Hey mate just a question, i just bought my 120 prado. Planning to put a bullbar on it. Do i have to put 2inch lift on it? Or it can stay on stock suspension?
Hi mate, you definitely don't have to, but if its a steel bullbar youll notice the front will sag. You can either fit some 6mm strut spacers on the front to compensate, or do the full 2" lift kit all round.
Hi, I did a 2" Dobinson IMS lift on my Prado 150. My tires are still stock at 265/65/R17. I want to upgrade it to all terrain but keep the tire size same as stock 265s. I go for offroading on deserts. What do you advise?
Hi Kane, I would probably advice a 265/70/R17 tyre in an all terrain for what you have described. You will gain a bit of clearance under your diffs, without the need to change your rims or UCAs. The same width tyre will also help to reduce the power loss you would get from a 285/70 or larger tyre. Cheers
are there prados with center diff lock only? no tc and no rear locker? I know in uk they all have center diff and tc and the lc3 has a factory rear locker. Nice vid btw!
Thanks mate! Yes most Prados come with just a centre diff lock and no TC. Later models (2006 onwards I think) all have traction control. Only 2016+ Prados have rear lockers as standard
Hey mate, yes you do notice the car will lean over a touch more, but it doesn't feel unsafe at all. I just take care on very off camber tracks and try my best to keep the car level. I've only had the car tip slightly once, and that was at a point far beyond where I expected it to tip, so I'm still happy pushing the boundaries with the Prado.
@@axelhermes2913 I would suggest going to Superior Engineering's website and having a look at what components they include in their lift kits. Over a 2" lift starts to become expensive and needs lots of components to do it properly
Hi mate, I can only comment on the gear I currently run. ARB bullbar is amazing, though the paint is thin on the edges. Suspension, I used to have Old Man Emu 2" lift and I liked how well it worked.
Thanks for the video!
No worries, thanks for watching it!
Nice vid man. That bullbar on yours @ 13:25 was flexing hard.

Good on you. From one prado owner (2006/120/4L petrol) to another!

120 4L v6 is something very special, the unimaginable power and its outstanding acceleration. Just wow 🫡

Good vid mate. Maybe more engine, less music next time ;-)

Great video Todd, was such a shame I couldn’t make this trip but knee just wasn’t up to this one!!

What tyres you had in your prado?
I had 265/70/17 Nitto Trail Grappler MTs
And Jerroyd's prado?
I would also like to know what tyres shouldn't buy?
Hello, nice tour. Your Prado 120 series, in the tank, how much liters petrol or diesel putting?. My Prado 120 series only 80-liter petrol putting in the tank.

The Aussie delivered 120 Prado comes standard with two 90L tanks, regardless of petrol or diesel engines.
@@offroadcrusader so it means 180L 2 tanks?.
@@sukhee5 yes that is correct

Nicely-produced video 👍🏻👍🏻.
What tyre pressure were the Prados running for those rocky hill climbs? Also, low range 1st gear?
Thanks!
Yes all the hills were done in Low range 1st gear with the centre diff locked. Tyre pressures were at 15psi front and 18psi rear.
I barely can hear the turbo whistle. Nice vid by the way.

@@offroadcrusader thanks for the reply. It is one of the main reasons I don't want a rooftop tent on my 120, so interesting to know your experience.
Did you use DAC going downhill? I'm having a hard time figuring out how it works
Just put it in low, 1st or 2nd gear, press the button and off you go...
What the tyre and rim size, how hight the lift thanks
Hi mate,
This was with a 4" lift and 265/70/17 MT tyres
