Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland is a city for people who love to eat. In this 5 part video series we’re sharing the food culture of Dominion Rd- one of Auckland’s go to spots to experience traditional cuisines from all around the world.
In this video we’re going behind the scenes of Auckland’s best pie at Cazador Delicatessen, a wagyu bolognese, béchamel and 2 cheese concoction created in one of the city’s most respected kitchens. We share Udon Works a Japanese restaurant churning out phenomenal bowls of udon and devour a sweet and sour grilled fish hotpot at Jun’s Grill Fish, a local favourite. We’re hunting down Auckland’s best eats, hit subscribe and get ready for some mouthwatering food.

What we ate and where we ate it:
1. Wagyu mince and cheese pie at Cazador Delicatessen, 854 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1041. Open 8:00am to 2:00pm Sunday to Tuesday, 8:00am to 3:00pm Wednesday and Thursday and 8:00am to 4:00pm Friday and Saturday.
2. Grilled fish with tomato at Jun’s Grill Fish, 331 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1024. Open 11:30am to 3:00pm and 5:00pm to 10:00pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and 11:30am to 3:00pm Friday and 11:30am to 10:00pm Saturday and Sunday.
3. Spicy miso nikomi udon and katsu curry udon at Udon Works, 633 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1041. Open Thursday to Monday 11:30am to 2:00pm and 5:30pm to 9:00pm.

*tomato sauce* - Really wanted to see Sheena try the pie with some ketchup since that’s her standard. 😀
Yes this is the place Tosh! We love it and visit often. I need to get better at sampling more of their menu though as opposed to ordering the same few udon dishes. You know, I don’t think the t sauce would have added what it usually does given the tomatoes in the mince 😄 Maybe a tomato relish instead 🤔 Oh golly haha I think they’re both tops but in different categories 😂 this is not me trying to avoid crowning a winner by the way. I would happily eat a FB pie a few times a week but I’m not sure I could with this one- it’s so rich and too special- more of a once a month visit. as a chinese lived in nz since 2001, i spent almost 2 years to start to love NZ Pie, but since then pie is my fav, more than fish n chips , now im living in QT, we have good pies selling in ferg bakery thank god

Today, I'm doubly jealous...you're eating glorious, diverse food, and you're wearing jumpers. And I did it all wrong today: it's 10:30PM, and I haven't eaten anything.
It's mid-summer here, and I went outside and stood in the shade for 10 minutes, and with our outrageous humidity (83%!) , I was dripping with sweat.

i always find it strange that kiwi's say beef mince and cheese pie. in aus a meat pie is always beef mince unless otherwise stated so we'd just call it a cheese pie. if it was steak it would be steak and cheese pie. if it was camel meat it would be a camel and cheese pie.
