- China's leader Xi Jinping is one of the most powerful people in the world - yet in the West we know little about him. Who is Xi? And what are his ambitions for China and the world?
In May 2022 writer and academic Kerry Brown came to Intelligence Squared to shed light on China’s enigmatic leader. Drawing from rare first-hand interviews and Chinese sources little known to the outside world, Brown discussed Xi’s tumultuous early life from his birth into the elite to his being sent to a remote village for ‘re-education’ and hard labour during the Cultural Revolution when his father was purged and imprisoned.
Brown explored the development of Xi’s political philosophy and how his pious worship of Mao Zedong has shaped him as a leader. He examined the cult of personality built around Xi in recent years and explain what decisions like abolishing term limits on the Chinese presidency and incorporating ‘Xi Jinping Thought’ into the constitution tell us about the direction of Xi’s China.
Brown was in conversation with historian Rana Mitter for the second event in our new China series.

What these commentators don't realise at all is that he did not rise up to the ultimate leader by himself, he was handpicked by the inner circle "lords" of the CCP, picked for his devotion, his thoughts, his unwavering will and support of the peoples of China and devotion to the CCP and her people.
By no means was there some hostile takeover within, he was selected as the true man who inhibits all the Chinese and the CCP's core beliefs.
Very carefully evaluated and proned before his rise to power by the most influential CCP members and their families.
The CCP lives for Xi as much as Xi lives for the CCP.
He inhibits the very essence, a practical wise, compassionate man.
Very wisely chosen by the elders of the CCP to carry on the torch of China.
He lives in the heart of CCP as much as the CCP lives in the heart of him.
An excellent man, well aware of the struggles of the peoples and an iron will to see prosperity for all of china and her peoples.
One day when it is more logistically practical we well may see more of an idealistic Mao shift in society, I hope so anyway.
Please abstain from propaganda. What you post is awful to Westerners and coolheaded Chinese. Or rather, it backfires. It shows the long arm of those murderous ideology of ethno-nationalism coupled with Leninist "party" organization.
