I play Elite Dangerous but found your channel and started watching. The Jump 890 is an epic ship. And the fact you can walk around in it is even more impressive. (I’m glued to my cockpit atm) Impressive ship and great video. Thanks for sharing.
Walking around your ship is one of the best parts of Star Citizen - even in the small ships. But the larger ones are something else. Even the 890's little sister, the 600i is big enough to get lost in, and there's weird little nooks and crannies and details all over the place. Better, yet, the goal is for those little details all to do something ingame eventually, even if they don't at the moment. So the fact I have a kitchen, Armoury, closet, bathroom, and stuff like fire extinguishers and first aid cabinets actually does mean something...
One thing I would have wished for in this ship would be a seperate larger room, not as large as the guest rooms, but larger than the regular crew quarters, for the captain / first officer of the ship. See the owner, is not necessarily the captain of the ship, not in this price-range. But a captain is also more important than a stewart, or at least more high ranking, especially if she/he is flying all the official guests around.
It seems that it would feel so lonely to walk through those rooms being empty and silent, but also it'd be very cool when there are many people just hanging out and enjoying the luxurious flight This ship is huge, but it's too huge for a single person Still looks like a pinnacle for players to get to
With all the space around the cargo elevator, the 890 makes for an excellent vehicle transport, being able to handle everything from a Ballista to multiple Greycats or gravlev bikes.
the only thing i wish they had done, was put the waterfall in the hot tub area , towards the door as a "privacy wall". would have flowed a bit better and added that secluded feeling for the tub!
Not really "into" Star Citizen (that may change in the future) however I enjoy watching ship tour videos and yours are extremely well produced. Keep up the good work :)
Your video is clean, well edited, and well paced. Your delivery is clear and concise and you do well at giving a focused description of the ship. It truly felt as though I were watching a video from a yacht broker, giving a tour of a ship that is new to the market. Great video and I can't wait for the next one. Also the 890j is gorgeous and by far my favorite ship in the verse. Can't wait to get my hands on one
With the quest waiting room, I think it would be cool if there becomes a degree of modularity outside of practical objects. Like you said before, you can add your own fish to the fish tanks. So I think it woud be cool if you could install say TVs or paintings etc. in areas like the guest waiting area.
This will most likely be for the same reason modern mega yachts exist. A really rich person has bragging rights/ place to do business in interjurisdiction space.
You’ll probably be able to charter it out to rich npc’s and have to organize parties and what not. Have the right cargo, services, etc. as per client needs. You could then probably mingle with the crowd and get more contracts and so on
I want a pirated or repurposed version of the ship, all the luxury stuff dropped for cargo space, maybe a bazaar in the main foyer. Most open space being used to lock down supplies etc. Beds/bunks in the over-sized hallways to accommodate troops etc. Forward hanger for fighters, bottom for ground assault. Story could be the ship was attached, destroyed but salvaged and repurposed as a mercenary base or something. Would be excellent at it!
the only thing id change about the ship if i could is i would make the nose area glass and put a two story cabin in it. sorta like how the 600 has the really fancy bedroom under the bridge. i feel like it was a major missed opportunity to not do this on cigs part and i feel like the only reason they did not do it was because you would have to go through the hanger in order to get to it. would love to see a 900 version of this ship with the hanger replaced with some sort of grand ballroom or something and the nose made into a two story cabin.

I much prefer the exterior of the 600i to that of the 890... But while I think the 600i has some design flaws in it's interior (the crew deck in particular seems nonsensical - and has needlessly poor access to the rear of the ship), yeah, I can see how this would be the case. Funny thing about the 600i I started to notice is how much bulk that second hull that isn't attached to the inner hull adds. Like many large yachts, it can accommodate more guests in the common areas than it can for overnight stays. You'll have many people showing up just to hang out for a party or get together, while only a handful would likely be staying for longer duration trips.
I like the 890 very much, but I'm surprised I still prefer the 600i. I think it's because the relatively compact layout in the 600 STILL reminds me of a spacecraft and I'm not overly reminded of any marine/ aquatic pretention. With the 890, a much larger ship, you see all of the same things as the 600i except it is all stretched out to the larger scale, and what makes it a spacecraft is somehow neglected. The opening shots of the 890 in flight says it all: it looks too much like a flying boat. The whole thing would work better as a surface vessel.

you bet, I've been planning on doing one for this ship for quite a while now. The main thing that's been holding me back is getting access to an 890 jump for the amount of time that it takes to make one of those videos.
I'm a bit confused by some of the numbers here. 2x8 passenger life boats, huge kitchen, conference room, etc, etc, but only 4 guest rooms? Did we skip over some rooms. The crew has their own rooms and life pods. It seams this ship only accommodates 4 overnight guests, 8 if it happens to be 4 couples. This doesn't seem to fit the amenities or the purpose of a "luxury yacht". So, I'm curious what the actual gameplay purpose will be. While definitely nice as a cool org boat, how would this vessel make money. It has the common space to do typical short haul first class trips, but is that all this will be, a big first class passenger jet relegated to just flying back and forth between ports? If so why even bother with the guest rooms. It's not going to be suitable for long haul luxury travel unless it's expected that the bulk of the guests sleep on random benches, shower and change in the public restrooms and store their belongings... somewhere discreet.
It's a nice looking ship, but so much of it is unusable. It's be awesome if you could actually stream stuff into the TVs or play pool. CIG really needs to add social stuff to keep players occupied until the game becomes more playable.
Is that really where CIG needs to be investing their time right now? Playable pool and video screens that show fluff content? I think I'd rather them work on game systems to make the game more stable and implement the actual game features people are going to be playing this for. Sure it will be nice if that stuff eventually makes it in, but their priority should be finishing the game, not adding fluff to the alpha so players can be more entertained.
@@Arkalius80 fair enough, but if they want people to stick around to play their MMO they need to make it worth sticking around for the average person. Sitting around for 15-20 minutes in quantum jump with nothing to do is kinda dull. Plus I don't really have that much faith in CIG to implement things anymore. I bought a Drake Herald years ago, and it's as useless as the day I bought it. I can't even see where info running fits into their roadmap.
@@MrLuc420 I can see why it isn't, but surely they must realise that the current PU is legitimately boring. @@AppiusOS i think that would be awesome to, but might not be working with so few places to take off from yet. But a good amount off chaos would be fun, hopefully with more than 5 fps though😂
Stop it!.. Every ship review you do makes me like "OH I NEED THAT!.. OH I NEED THAT!.. OH I NEED THAT TOO!" but can fly by them 100 times and barely notice lol.. I'm going to focus on exploration so like seeing all exploration friendly ships, big and small... I can't wait until you make more content!!.. I've seen almost all of your SC vids already lol
Yay! I have notifications turned on for your channel, and rarely do that! So i'll be waiting lol.. I seen a 600i for the first time today and was impressed, but for me I absolutely love the Constellation, or "Connie" as i hear it called.. Star Trek is my favorite western sci-fi franchise, so the design of the Connie is speaks to me lol.. When we have more systems to explore, that is the ship I want, with a crew.. You can be on my crew, but your designation will be "Red Shirt" LOL.. Joking :P
Thing is, I don't see a use for this ship. Meetings with other orgs? Why not use TeamSpeak? If there is no way for cig to disable external communication software, I see no use for this ship regarding meetings. A command ship? Not really. There are better ones. And command what? You fleet of luxury yachts or 300 series? As an explorer? I don't see that either, it's too big, it may be able to carry one to an interesting location. It's not a cargo ship either. It may has the room for some, but no. It is just a Yacht, for wich, in a game I can't find any good use. In the end, it's a prestige object, a ship for players that have accomplished everything and need something to waste their ingame money on. For me it's just not appealing, a 300 series is of more use than this. On the other hand, that ship helped fund the game even more, wich is the only right of existence I give to this ship. The devs may have learned a lot from it too, regarding the design of bigger ships and so on. After having seen the cargo bay, I actually think that cargo hauling will be the only real use for this ship.
It's like you're blind to what roleplay is, yes there's teamspeak and Discord but that is not the essence of roleplay, also I'm not sure why you're talking like this ship is for everyone? it's not, most people will never really be able to afford it or have a use for it, this ship is for big corporations, also some people buy luxury yachts in the game for the same reasons they buy luxury yachts in real life, if you think of that then your questions have been answered.
It’s a flying mansion. I don’t need two sauna’s, a bar, and a dining area. The observation lounge is more my speed though. If you own this ship, would it ever be filled with guests? How do you crew it?

It has the common space to do typical short haul first class trips, but is that all this will be, a big first class passenger jet relegated to just flying back and forth between ports? If so why even bother with the guest rooms. It's not going to be suitable for long haul luxury travel unless it's expected that the bulk of the guests sleep on random benches, shower and change in the public restrooms and store their belongings... somewhere discreet.
A very good point. I too expected a lot more guest rooms. Those few customers buying the service from 890J owners would really have to pay up.
So who crews this thing AI?
me an my boys had a 5 man crew in it a few days ago..... it was epic until we crashed the server
They want that eventually. But definitely not on their priority list.
@@MrLuc420 I can see why it isn't, but surely they must realise that the current PU is legitimately boring. If it were me I'd push like crazy for SSOCS and server meshing and cram everyone into a single instance as quick as I could. It would be chaotic as all hell, but it could be genuinely fun like MMO games where you have to make your own fun can be, like VRChat. As each new element is put into the game you'd have no worries about people testing it out, because SC would already be a game you could hang out in.
You'll be happy to hear that the new one should be ready in the next 2-3 days, and better yet it's going to be about two explorer ships.
Joking :P
@@lunamaria1048 Well I have some more good news for you. The newest video I'm working on involves the Connie and another ship. 😁
Why does it literally look like a IRL yacht? I wish it looked more unique, but it looks almost exactly like existing multi-million dollar boats...
When are there going to be some NPC's on this big ship? It looks so lonely on it!
Looks like they're gonna get robbed. 😟
This ship is beautiful but a pool in a spaceship makes no sense to me. Any hard maneuvers and there goes all the water.
There’s artificial gravity and inertia dampeners
