- 隠密剣士 (日本語のみ) - 闇 法師 [Yami Hōshi] (Japanese language only) --''Black Ninja'' OR more correctly translated as ''Dark Priest''. (The full name is 忍法 闇 法師 (NINPŌ YAMI HŌSHI ), but 忍法 (NINPŌ) simply translates as ''Ninja techniques'' or ''Ninjutsu'', and therefore is not really relevant in the overall translation (except for the fact that the Yami Hōshi is in fact connected with Ninjas!
Note that the final ''i'' of Hōshi is not pronounced, and should be pronounced ''Yami Hōsh'', rather than Yami Hōshi !!
A brief explanation regarding the word ''Ninja'':
At the beginning of the Tokugawa Period (Edo Period) in Japan in the early 1600's, the word ''ninja'' was not used. Instead, they were initially referred to as ''Shinobi'' (忍び) - ''sneaking, hiding'', etc.... Later on, the term ''Shinobi no mono'' (忍びの者) ''a sneaking person'' was used, and towards the end of the Tokugawa Period in the late 1700's, the first and last Kanji (characters) were combined to form ''忍者'' which was pronounced ''Ninja'', meaning a sneaking, hiding person (who used stealth to carry out assassinations, etc).

隠密剣士のヒーローは個性豊かな忍びの者たちであった。子供の頃刀（竹）を背負って横走りで遊んだものだ。

Kodomo no koro katana (take) o seotte yoko hashiri de asonda monoda''.......Meaning that when he was young, he used to play being a Ninja with a bamboo stick as a sword.....He also mentions that the Ninjas (of the Tokugawa Period) were heroes with interesting personalities.
５０数年ぶりに見た。子供のころは、【 隠密剣士 】、毎週TVの前で釘付けだった（笑）。霧の屯兵衛（とんべえ）＝牧冬吉＝の手裏剣技には目を見張ったなあ（笑）
「三匹の侍」で初めて人斬り音、刀音ができたのだけど、隠密剣士はまだだった。牧冬吉さんは名脇役だよね、白影大好きです。
いわゆる「忍者物の時代劇」の礎になっているのが、「隠密 剣士」全130話！です。主役の大瀬 康一さんの当たり役の一人で、今なお「時代劇ヒーロー 十傑」に入っていますね✨
天津敏さん牧冬吉さんの出世作品でもありますね！
赤尾関三蔵さんも隠密.ハリマオ等の多くの作品に出演してましたよ.
隠密 (onmitsu) = secret, covert...... From 隠 (hidden) + 密 (something dense with no gaps etc.)...........秘密 (himitsu) = ''secret'' ...As in ''I have a secret'' (Used in normal conversation) - not to be confused with 隠密 (onmitsu) which is a different kind of ''secret''.
剣士 (kenshi) = swordfighter, swordsman, etc. --- So...隠密剣士 (onmitsu kenshi) = ''secret swordfighter'', ''covert [undercover] swordsman'', etc. etc.
