Paint and texture match is excellent. Thanks for sharing the technique.
Love this format. All the small tricks and tips that lead up to actually spraying the car.
Format for videos is changing to be more real life and somewhat entertaining
I'm definitely going to try adding the 10% reducer to my base next time I paint. I also learned to give the clear more flash time when I'm trying to bury imperfections in the clear. It makes perfect sense. I love your videos, they have made me a much better painter. Thank you for making these videos, they have been invaluable to me!
Best Vid yet with a couple of real nuggets. Thanks.
The trick I use is once I get the plastic on the car and pull it tight I use a long piece of angle iron between the front and rear wheel on each side to hold the plastic down to the floor. Works great. Wrap it up in the lose plastic and push it under the car as far as you can.
Brian
Amazing job. Honestly, it’s more difficult to copy the factory orange peel than it’s is to do a mirror finish.
When you’re comparing door panels freshly painted and original the orange peel was identical. The lights definitely helped in seeing that
The key is to just scuff the panel with a scuff pad so the texture remains and you just clear over it.
Learned sand base coat and over reduced basecoat ..awesome videos all
I learned to sand the base coat before applying the final coat. 600 for solid colors and 800 - 1000 grit for metallics.
Doesn’t that distort the metallics? Or do u apply another base coat before the clear?
Let me clarify. Sand the base coat, before applying the final coat of base. @@killadelphia215
That doesnt work for metallics. Gotta spray atleast 2 coats minimum again. Unless you love sand scratches
I also learned that add an extra 10% reducer for nice flat base. I did that today on your advice on a deck lid I was painting and yes looks super clean. Also on previous vids use extra slow reducer. Paint is a little thinner so need so compensate spray speed. It’s obviously that the paint is coming out faster so speed it up cowboy !!! I super appreciate your channel and your teaching style. It’s like I’m listening to my old PE Teacher !!!
Love it! I have a '90 black Mustang GT that I am repairing. Learned a lot! Thanks, Brian!
Mr.Masyer is cool as always.Great teacher.Great person with a big heart and picky eyes.😷
Man out of all the paint UA-camrs, yours is by far the best! U explain things really well.. keep it up my man!
the masking tips are much appreciated, as a new painter i spent a lot of time masking
Excellent presentation Brian, as usual!!
Glad you liked it!
Great knowing how to use the plastic !
You do amazing work. I really learn a ton from you. Keep it up.
I watching every video you make and i learn it from zero. And now i made my own painting for motor and other. Please show me how work on matt color. Matt clear tricks and tips please 😊
Awesome okay! Will do
Cheers Brian, great episode. I really enjoyed it!
Glad you enjoyed it
The 3M clear masking film cutter is really good for cutting through that plastic
Awesome, great advice!
thank you Brian!!
saludos desde Venezuela a pesar de que tengo 30 años trabajando pintura uno siempre aprende con tus consejos y trucos gracias por compartir tus conocimientos
Hello mate. Interesting you mentioned solvent pop as that is what I have just experienced when spraying my bike petrol tank. I had read that this was because I had my clear coat turned up too much but the advise on flash off times is very much appreciated. Spraying my tank again tomorrow so here's hoping. 👍
Excellent job as you've said in other videos clean paint job is all in preparation and cleaning even if it has to be done a couple of more times ,great tip for masking the back edge of the doors 👌👌👌
Greetings from Ireland
Thanks for watching benny!
Meraviglioso Brian !

Discovered about getting cleaner finishes doing it this way by complete accident about 3 years ago. Could believe how much cleaner it came out.
Good video good job Proffecional.
Awesome video as always
Thanks Ray!
Brian, great video, very informative, thanks. Can you possibly do a video explaining the difference between regular wet/dry sandpaper and the Super Assilex sandpaper you're using on a hand pad and under what conditions you prefer to this paper?
I love your videos man

Hey Brian, just like the other comments, I learned about sanding the base coat as well, and what can I say? Another awesome video👍
Excellent work as always! #shetapes
Great video do you have any video where you spot buff?? 2000 grit what would you use???
"never been touched" 👍👍
Great video. What pressure did you spray that clear coat at to match that factory orange peel?
Amazing! Wish I could have you guys respray my Frozen Black 2017 BMW M6 Gran Coupe. Seems every professional I have spoken to so far is afraid to touch it. Must be a difficult color to paint.
I like to use a letter opener to cut the plastic to avoid scratching the the car with a regular razor
nice video
Thanks for the visit
Tell Juan a quick tip is to lay the plastic across the box and cut it that way, using the box as support. It cuts faster and straighter. I've also went through some boxes of 3M over the last few months that I noticed were loaded in the box backwards. I thought I was imagining things at first. It's gotten to the point where I check every time now..
Here recently in SC, it's been so hot, the boss and I have been double-teaming overall jobs just to try and keep it wet and avoid dry streaks. The booth is inside a larger shop and pulls air from inside, which is just trapped heat near the roof.
I say it's pulling the heat up from Hell is what it feels like when you fire up the fan..
Haha glad im not alone on the heat or 3m plastic issue!
Brian, I am doing my first 2 stage kandy blend but the underbase colour (4 coats too) from the paint code is an olive green (like army fatigues) and gives me a beautiful red metallic (hood only and 4 coats of red too), unfortunately, it is one and a half shades lighter than the car. Now when doing the other repair areas (minor scrapes and stone chips) I see there is a black underbase to the red metallic when I sand back. I got some black base and did a card with that under the red metallic. Yes it seems a small bit darker but still not that close to the car. Now how can I successfully blend this 2 stage colour? I am fine doing a base and clear blend, but am concerned with this discrepancy in shade may be too much. Suggestions?
I learned a better way to secure the rear area of the plastic cover. Question, how do u get the little dust nibs off at the end of ur job ?
After you sanded the color coat, did you only tack rag it before applying the next layer? No "pre painting prep" or anything like that?
And how long does color coat and clear coat have to dry before you can safely clean them with pre painting prep?
Do you have a video on wet edge techniques?
hey great videos what's the best procedure to paint the backside of bumpers not to the same finish quality but same color . Prep and products to use to promote adhesion. We are painting the back side of used Ferrari 458 bumpers black.
Thanks in advance
Bro.... just got done doing my 1st black paint job and I wished I would have watched this 1st .. omg. I killed myself over this one. Lmao great work brother. Dam good.
Ty!!
In going to paint half my car over winter in a car tent 😂 wish me luck, any tips in how I can keep dust to a minimum while been out in a tent with no fans.
🔥🔥
I didn’t know that do the best other and matching the best possible,
Can you show the dust nib process?
What's the name brand of the clear you used.
can you please make a video painting chrome to body color
I noticed you started at the bottom and went up. I was taught to start at the top and work down to avoid gravity from dropping dirt from the top into paint below. Basically work my way down so dirt falls to the ground and not into the base or clear I just painted. Is this viable practice or in your experience, it really doesn't matter? I don't have a paint booth so I have to paint in an open garage. Interested in your position on this technique as I'm still learning.
Start from the bottom to see the wet edge better but both ways work. Just personal preference
Thank you! Really enjoy the channel! Appreciate all you do!@@PaintSociety
Where did you get the spray suit???
matching the same amount of orangepeel is carzy😆🤣
Question, how long do you wait before you can sand the base?
15 min
Can i paint black without clear coat apply
Dude you are super good at this,I’ve dreamed of doing body work and paint,it is my goal to do this for a living but I can not get my foot in the door ANYWHERE 😩
Just keep pushing. You just need one shop to take you in and you just prove yourself from there!
Come to Texas, we are struggling to get people that want to learn
@@juanmata2433 I want to badly buddy, but the wife is not interested in moving. I know there’s a lot of opportunity there, my folks actually moved there 2 years ago and they are constantly begging me to go there.
@@PaintSociety thanks man I really appreciate your comment,I definitely won’t stop trying
how long do you wait for the first base coat to dry before you use the k600 on it? I tried sanding off orange peel in my first coat today after 15 mins and didnt seem to sand too well
10-15 min did you use the k600? This is the base we are sanding. Give it longer if you applied it wet
What kind of carpet is that and where can I find it?
i just bought w 400 with 1.3 is it good if i use for base coat
Tino Malta europe i all ways used Deviliss compect 1.3 1.4
Yes
I’m just starting not even a year in and I sprayed my gun with some left over product. I sprayed 1 coat of clear. Waited 10 minutes until the tape felt sticky like tape then hit it with another coat. Came back 15 minutes later and went for coat 3 and it wrinkled… why? I paint boats and we only do 1 coat of clear.
Could you show us a little of how to properly buff such small dirt nibs to not ruin tbe whole panel?
Yes
What about for waterbase paint? Dry sand?
Yes but must be reallllllly dry
I get SO Many backward arrow plastic from 3M lol
What clear would you suggest? I struggle with dieback but cant really afford high end clear though i would like to try some and see if its just my materials.
Usually clears die back because too much application. Try 4.0 select clear by utech
I like upol clear, cheap and available at O’reilly’s auto parts. Available in 4:1 and 2:1
@@PaintSociety thanks,I'll get done ordered. That's cheaper than what I use but I'll try putting less material on next time and see if it helps.
I use SPI Universal clear on almost every project.
Whats the Name of the plastic bags
When we gonna get a satin paint job?
I learned that I’m too advanced more then your new rookies I was watching him put the tape it hurt my eyes and heart! But he has a good teacher on his side! ❤
You guys don't have ac unit in the shop?
Tech shop
What’s the difference in k600 and p600 sandpaper?
K grit is proprietary to Eagle Abrasives
Do you take on classic cars jobs?
I dont sorry
how to paint chrome?
💯👊👊
Boss man! See ya soon!
I feel like masking a car is my weak point. And I love hearing different techniques and tricks. That I can try and an very well be an easier way.
You are so welcome!
Still wish I knew Wer yr located so u could paint my truck 😢
Sorry dont do sidework
I learned that Ken Waller now lives in Florida.
I learn how to better wrap the vehicle and the kind of plastic to use. But I always lessen something from watching your videos.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼😎
No kidding on the foam tape. I hate it when the sealer blows in but your transparent base won’t cover what blows in around the foam. I use the fine line also. A good consistent run about 1/8 inch in land it leaves a clean line that’s nearly invisible. Holy crap! I’ve gotta find those towels!
Towels are in the description
What does 1 1/2 coats mean?
Basically that half coat means that you double the distance between you and the panel
@@PaintSociety That doesn't lay out dry? Thanks for your reply!
@@geo611 no because it goes right after the wetcoat
@@PaintSociety AHA! Thank yew
#shetapes
No... that's the mini-me to the RX, the NX.
Its the new RX
#JuanTapes
I have a question about your eyes. Doesn't all that overspray damage your eyes?
The K600 was all new to me.❤ But your explanation of what you do between color coats was a little vague. Try not to buzz through an explanation so fast.
I learned I don't have to base coat the complete panel.
Great!
Taut not taunt.
Thats all you took from the video ?
Or the less pretentious word: tight.
What do you mean you're going to have "sticky legs tonight"? You didn't take a shower before you went to bed??
Overspray on my legs before i get home
