Orange Fur Coat FTW. Also liked the Terminal a lot! Triangle Muff 3rd Place. The all at noon settings were a little frustrating though. Would love to hear this again with each set up in the "best" setting for your rig.
percisely what i was thinking, keeping all the knobs at noon makes sense but if the put the time into finding the setting that accentuates the uniqueness of these pedals best the video would be more interesting.
would be great if you took the time to dial the fuzz tone a bit, i mean fuzz factory with all settings at noon? that's counter intuitive for anyone here actually looking for a fuzz, i really recommend you check ou JHS vintage vs reissue video, at 3:00 in he explains why you should take the time dialing and it's not me saying, its freaking josh from jhs
That was so awesome! Orange Fur Coat definetly made me go wow. Was also very surprised by the Valeton Lazaro Modern Fuzz. Can you do an indepth look on the Fender Pelt?
The "that's the sound I hear in my head" goes to EHX Green Russian Muff. "Total shock" moment goes to all the Fuzz Face. Didn't know they sound that good on bass!
@@TheBassChannel Thanks for this great comparison shoot-out. I have the woolly mammoth which I adore, but I am in the market for new fuzz and based on this video also the fur coat piqued my interest. Sounds so good, I'm gonna search for more sound samples of this pedal on bass to determine if I get one. The death by audio pedals also sound interesting but a tad way-out there for my needs.
@@owenhodge4013 You own one? Can you tell me more about it or know where to find more sound samples on bass? I agree, it sounds fantastic in this video. This might be just the right pedal for me.
@@53rjv Yeah, I do. So it’s a very unique octave fuzz. Most octave fuzzes the octave is always on, but with the fur coat you can turn it on or off. This is a great feature for bass, because while the octave lets you cut through the mix like a knife it also kills your low end. You do still get a bit of a low end loss with the octave off, but most of the low end stays in tact. All in all I think it’s a great fuzz. It sits great in a mix, and is a really aggressive fuzz. It employs germanium transistor and silicon diodes. I have owned a lot of fuzzes, and the fur coat is a very special circuit! It you want more sound samples, then you should check out the bass channels video on it. Patrick Hunter also has a great review, demo of the Fur Coat. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you end up with it.
I probably could have watched this for an hour with a million more pedals. The Old Blood Noise Endeavors Haunt is a sick little pedal as well. I'd love to see a B:assmaster next to all of these. Rock on boys.
Found this video because I don't know if I want a Big Muff, an Earthquaker or a Darkglass, and then the Fur Coat comes out of the blue and hits you with FEELINGS
The EHX Flatiron and the MXR 108 Mini sounded a lot better than I thought, although I mainly came out of this wanting the Death By Audion Absolute Distruction.
Another version of this where you play each pedal at its best setting would be so cool. We all really appreciate this demo video, but many of these pedals were played at tonally unfavorable settings.
@@T-Hawkeyes so what if someone doesn't like that best setting and prefers a different setting? This is music, not math, there's no right and wrong answers
Thought Darkglass Duality would be the easy winner here, but the Orange Fur Coat came in with the surprise upset! Definitely gonna pick one of those up. Love the Super Sonic Fuzz Gun too. The noon settings don't really do that particular pedal justice though.
Look, this is a great video. I particularly liked the Harley Benton, most of the ZVEX pedals, Orange Fur Coat, and the death by audio Absolute Destruction. I enjoyed the video and thanks. The only little gripe: each pedal is set at a neutral 12 o'clock position. I get that the reason would be to be objective. However, the neutral position might be a sweeter spot for some pedals, while for others the sweet spot might require a little tweaking. To my ears, some of the pedals sound washed out, but it may be due to that neutral setting. Other pedals sounded crisp and biting at neutral. It might have been interesting to find a sweet spot (somewhat subjective I know, and maybe it is just my taste to like the biting high end) for each pedal and compare that.
no tonebender or bass big muff? :-( also, with all knobs at noon you engage the gate in the zvex pedals (too high for gain at noon), which makes them sound extra farty (except for the mammoth)
Anyone have any experience running any of these in front of a Sansamp Bass Driver DI pedal into the effects return of a bass amp? Do they suck all the low end out?
Awesome video. I liked the Earthquaker fuzzes the best on this video. The Duality is a solid bet. Would have liked to hear the Aguilar Fuzzistor and the Barefaced Machinist in this collection, but that’s probably asking a bit much.
For my taste: 1- Death by Audio Fuzz War, 2- Orange Fur Coat, 3- Tied between: Darkglass Duality Fuzz, JHS Muffuletta and the Electro Harmonix Green Russian Big Muff Fuzz
Awesome clip. \m/ my personal favorite fuzz pedals on this clip are the electro-harmonix big muff sovtek deluxe, orange fur coat, fulltone 69, wampler velvet fuzz, and the electro-harmonix flatiron fuzz.
The Orange Fur Coat was my favorite. Runner up was the Earthquaker Terminal...To my ears, on this day, on this listen through. I could play this again tomorrow and other pedals might catch my ear.
Partial to the Pickle! Can dial in basically all the muff sounds and more! It also sounds great paired with an octave pedal after it for an awesome synth sound for R&B! George Tripp is a genius! If I had a second choice it would be the Fulltone 69 or Fuzz Bender!
Orange Fur Coat cut it for me - I just bought one after watching the video for my bass! My runner up: Bass Almighty by Daredevil. Flatiron Fuzz also was smth. Cheers! 😊
A useful exercise, if only to stop bass players making a terrible mistake. Most of these are guitar pedals, not bass pedals: no wonder so many of them sound awful. It would have been nice to hear the actual EHX Bass Big Muff Pi. I can hear why the Green Russian has been favoured for bass for so long.
Just wanna say thank you for the incredibly helpful video! It was probably a pain to do all this so great work really, by far the best bass pedals yt channel!
Other than in-depth fuzz demos of individual pedals by masters like Mike Hermans - this is THE best fuzz survey/demo EVER. Thanks and kudos - I WILL be buying one or two (never even heard of the Duncan Rica but I love it)...
The Bass Channel have you lads laid hands on it? Believe the hype. It sounds great all the way through the full range of that glorious big knob. No one laugh.
an overdrive video like this would be fantastic.
Definitely!
Come on man, that was Too Cool!! Awsome sound Im digging it. Good job😊

Awesome fuzz pedal review...making me want to explore that effect again!
Didn’t know I needed this
Orange Fur Coat and Big Muff Russian sounded best to me.
Orange, Death by Audio Ray Gun and Muff op amp.
orange sound very good,
The Mastotron needs more gain. And it sounds surprisingly better with a SansAmp

Zvex Factories... I really love it and Death By Audio is not baaad!
I love my Solid Gold fx Sasori pedal, just sayin' :-)
That mammoth pedal tho
Orange Fur Coat and Thorpyfx Fallout Cloud sounded the best to me.

Please, BIT MORE time for EACH) ……….Thank you!!!!!:)
Best Fuzz for bass didn’t even make appearance. Also, a Warwick for this? Really?
GREEN RUSSIAN
wow. that mxr sub octave bass fuzz sounds terrible.
Harley Benton sounds disgusting
I feel like I was playing a level of Doom for 7 minutes.
A historical day for bass fuzz demo videos.
Insanely helpful video. Please do more of these for other types of pedal.
Couldn't agree more ! We need the same for Phaser, Envelope Filter, Synth stompboxes... !
That was so awesome!
Orange Fur Coat definetly made me go wow. Was also very surprised by the Valeton Lazaro Modern Fuzz.
Can you do an indepth look on the Fender Pelt?
As soon as we can get ahold of one, we definitely will.
The "that's the sound I hear in my head" goes to EHX Green Russian Muff.
"Total shock" moment goes to all the Fuzz Face. Didn't know they sound that good on bass!
Jon Rochner the bassist from Muse uses one in most songs.
@rainyrene russian muff
This turned out so good! I spy a few new fuzzes I need...
Thanks, man! Same. I definitely sense a Woolly Mammoth and Fur Coat in my near future.
The Bass Channel The Fur Coat is killer! Excuse my outdated terms, but it’s so freaking groovy! I love the thing. Orange never lets me down.

Totally!
I thought the duality from darkglass was the "can't go wrong" then the fur coat at 2:15 appear
the fur coat won..
The fur coat was definitely the best, no contest
Fur Coat and OpAmp Big Muff for me

nice way to ear how the pedals sound in a general way, without getting too much in details.

Duality still rocking the house
The EHX Flatiron and the MXR 108 Mini sounded a lot better than I thought, although I mainly came out of this wanting the Death By Audion Absolute Distruction.
Nice! I liked a dozen or so pedals. But what surptised me most was that I liked the two of the cheapest, the Valeton and the TCE Rusty Fuzz.
Dat Green Russian tho!
The "Daredevil Pedals Almighty Bass" was the real deal here.
Orange fur coat clear winner for me
The Darkglass Duality is my go to fuzz but damn that Fur Coat was awesome!
Another version of this where you play each pedal at its best setting would be so cool.
We all really appreciate this demo video, but many of these pedals were played at tonally unfavorable settings.
My thoughts exactly. Still entertaining though.
They did the poor Swollen Pickle so dirty!
"best setting" is such a vague term, sound is about what the individual likes, there's no "best sound"
@@elpeluca7780 I will argue that every gain pedal has a best setting with a certain instrument and amp. A big muff has a best setting IMHO.

Good point. Everything dialed at noon doesn't tell the full story.
After looking for comparisons of bass fuzz pedals for literal years I can't believe I found this gem of a video.
Very well done, Thanks a lot, guys!!
Fuzz factory and bass must be the worst thing I've ever heard. I love it

The guy changing the pedals is the real beast in this video. What speed!

I'm just wondering why the heater on the tube would be flickering.

Very interesting video, thanks a lot!
i'll have a closer look at Seymor Duncan La Super Rica and Walrus Audio Jupiter now
hello . just .. with master all sound , how listen the real sound ..
Anyone have any experience running any of these in front of a Sansamp Bass Driver DI pedal into the effects return of a bass amp? Do they suck all the low end out?
I was pleasantly surprised by the daredevil pedals almighty bass pedal. So far I am 100% satisfied with my ehx big muff pi deluxe
Easily the best for me are the big muffs, especially the green russian. Out of those, the orange fur coat results awesome with that bass.
which pedal was the most 'fu manchu' sound to you?
comment now!
Awesome video. I liked the Earthquaker fuzzes the best on this video. The Duality is a solid bet. Would have liked to hear the Aguilar Fuzzistor and the Barefaced Machinist in this collection, but that’s probably asking a bit much.
Loved the Fur Coat, but that Wampler had a great wide warm tone that hit me nicely. Great demo!
For my taste: 1- Death by Audio Fuzz War, 2- Orange Fur Coat, 3- Tied between: Darkglass Duality Fuzz, JHS Muffuletta and the Electro Harmonix Green Russian Big Muff Fuzz
Does anybody know what bass riff is this? Thanks.
I loved this video. I'm with everyone else, it is extremely helpful, please make more videos like this!!!
No MXR Fuzz deluxe here? Or does the sub octave use the same circuit as the fuzz deluxe?
Awesome clip. \m/ my personal favorite fuzz pedals on this clip are the electro-harmonix big muff sovtek deluxe, orange fur coat, fulltone 69, wampler velvet fuzz, and the electro-harmonix flatiron fuzz.
best comparison on the web. good riff as well
Love the riff too, nice and sinister, perfect for a fuzz shootout 💪🏻
daredevil almighty 4:00 almost has some some envelopy-filter kinda vocal vibe going on. nice.
Agreed. Very vowel sounding. What a great flavor.
I have a velvet and love it, but that orange fur coat is next on my list...I like that flat iron too
Orange Fur Coat did it for me. I could've watched this video for another hour lol.
I would like to hear more of the Carl Martin The Fuzz. There aren't many demos of it on bass.
Easily the best bass channel on UA-cam
Fantastic comparison!! Anything EHX would do me fine!! 😀
The whole noon dial thing is a bit gaaaabage
*Looks up prices for the Orange Fur Coat...*
I have two words for this video: brilliant, more
The zvex pedals sound like shit
The Orange Fur Coat was my favorite. Runner up was the Earthquaker Terminal...To my ears, on this day, on this listen through. I could play this again tomorrow and other pedals might catch my ear.
great work but when it comes to fuzz or distortion i need to know how it sounds with a pick

Thanks man for this work. Jupiter v2 is GOALS.
FYI, some fuzz pedals like the Fuzz Face really aren't great just set at 12 oclock.
Well done gentlemen!! Definitely agree with others on this - more videos like this on other types of pedals: overdrive, envelope filters, etc!!
I like the Harley Benton and all of the Dunlop pedals!!!! \m/ This is the way a video should be done!!!!
BELLOWS
Wampler Velvet Fuzz is where it’s at, that is, if you want an alternative to the Russian and Sovtek big muffs
What kind of preamp and interface you used for this recording? Thanks
