- Perfect Dark has infiltrated Nintendo Switch Online in a surprise announcement that caught everyone off guard at this week’s Nintendo Direct which excited many a gamer, myself included. Perfect Dark back in the day seemingly did the impossible by standing shoulder to shoulder with Goldeneye, a game many didn’t think would be able to be matched, yet Rare pulled a rabbit out of their hat and here we are. Debuting under the new N64 “Mature” App, Perfect Dark allows players to embark on a Sci-fi espionage adventure as well as offering up online multiplayer. What’s It Like? One of my favorite games of all time. I remember being super impressed that this game had reload animations especially after playing so much GoldenEye.
Oh yeah the reload animations were amazing. The Cyclone in particular was awesome!
This was one of the best games for N64. The graphics back then were astonishing to me. I do remember the light flare being kinda bad, as I replayed it around when PS3 was out and it was a bit dated at the time.
Might look dated but the gameplay still holds up in my opinion. I spent my weekend smashing through the campaign and then introducing my kids to multiplayer.
Great review. I somehow missed this game back in the day, but it definitely looks a lot like Goldeneye (which, of course, I played a lot). I'd love to see some of these N64 games get full remasters. Emulation has its charm, but a remaster would be amazing.
Xbox got a remaster and a reboot now that they own Rare. This game was incredible back in the day so I hope they fix the emulation issues. As for Goldeneye, I still play it on NSO from time to time. May be the rose tinted glasses, but it's one of the greatest of all time
The cheesy voice acting is a feature not a flaw.
Probably, but the volume on this particular port makes it very hard to hear.

I think it's the Rose coloured glasses of my younger years but PD was one of my favourite games and seeing it again makes especially hearing that it's not 100% optimised makes me a little sad
I feel that. I spend most of my weekend playing multiplayer after polishing the campaign and enjoyed it, but the emulation issues are very apparent. Here's hoping it gets a patch soon!
