  • If you are deciding on which new rims and tires you should get for your mazda rx8 (and you want to track it), I would say this is your best bet for a racing set up, and it also looks cool. I would say this is "flush" fitment leaning maybe a bit on the poke side, but I am very happy with how it looks and performs. Can't wait to get this car to the track soon and film it for you guys! Enjoy!
    Wheels are Enkei RPF1 17x9.5+38
Tires are Dunlop Direzza Ziii 255/40 R17

What air pressure do you recommend for your direzza tires on the track?

Any issues with the 35 offset? I always figured that was too low and smallest offset I could get away with would be a 42

I was literally just looking at 17 inch RPF1s for my RX8 last night! Wasn't sure about what I want for tire width and offset but yours does look good!
Are you lowered also? Is there any rubbing?

    • @JapandaTuning
      @JapandaTuning  5 років тому

I am lowered a bit on tein flex z coilovers, but I will probably go lower. No rubbing at all at the moment, and I don't think there will be rubbing at all when I go lower. Its a great flush set up that is much more aggressive than stock

How do you know you're not messing up your diff going with a smaller wheel? Aren't they designed for 18s?

Hey wasup man I still havent bought my RX8 because of school (its been a fucking year LOL), but I think next summer ill have the money and time to build. I totally agree that 17s look fucking nice on RX8s, but I really like the price and the look of the stock R3 rims. Do you know any good tires that fit on the R3 rims that would be good for daily? Wheels are the subject I know the least on a car these days...

If you wanted to know what kinda RX8 I want to build, it should be a lean mean machine:
      - hybrid Renny/REW engine build with mild PP and lighter rotors... Among other shit (this is the last part of the build), biggest cold air intake, biggest throttle body, custom titanium/aluminium exhaust manifold (to work with the hybrid engine), and HKS single high flow catback exhaust (and I would want a muffler but idk the best one). Obviously I want to lower the weight on anything in the engine bay, so if you have any suggestions that shed decent weight I would be very happy!
      - stripped interior, swapped to an aluminium finish on the doors and potentially the interior (this should lighten up the car a lot whilst making it look not that bad), titanium roll cage? Idk yet
      - Rmagic front bumper, RE-Amemiya tail lights, imma cut out the rear exhaust plastic parts to fit a single catback exhaust by HKS, I also want a tall drift wing but imma try to build the mounts to make it somewhat easier to take off and on again. Also any lighter body parts for the car Imma try to purchase. Im aiming for NC Miata amounts of light!!!!
      - I really dont think I would mind running the ebay coilovers you have and honestly they sound like good value so Im thinking of those as well :)
Im also thinking of deleting some stuff, battery put in the rear, put like minivan rear seats so that I can take them out if I don't need them, electric steering delete (just keeping the rack and pinion and potential hydrolics), electric throttle converted to something more mechanical, and if I have the money or if it is possible, converting the rear multilink suspension to something more updated... No clue if its possible.
Shortshifter would be nice... Obvious clutch kid install because the original clutch is known to fail, LED front lights to allow less stress on the battery, a drift e-brake with a pin to allow me to e-brake park, obvious COBB tune connected to a cheap android tablet in the driver's bay (set up like the satnav the RX8 could'e been optioned), giving it a R34 look. I wanna change the redline beep sound to something a little less annoying like a small bell or something, and finally, potentially changing the dash to something a little easier to read the speed.
Lots of stuff!!!!!! Should make my car looks unique, drive unique and touge uniquely. I bet the entire build, if I do lots of the stuff myself, will cost like 20-30K in the end.... Most expensive stuff is the engine and the interior. Probably on my stage 1, itll drive a lot like yours! Cheers :)

Why putting 255 and then drop diameter to save money.. just stick to 18 with stock 225 using a uhp tyres which also has a stiffer sidewall
