My understanding with precons is that they have play path A and B, both are normally okay together but not optimized one way or the other. And there's usually a card or two in the main set to use as a commander. The Jund Winter to me is far superior to the Golgari Winter.
I just got back into magic with the bloomburrow stuff. I had a green black spider/insect tribal deck on my want to build list either like shelob or blex, so i think this'll be my pickup. I was kind of unhappy with the stuff for the group slug deck that was shown especially for the price when its the priciest, inwas disappointed with this decks front commander when i first saw it, but picking up some of those reprints and the sub themes in this deck i think solidified it as my pick.
I was intrigued by the rakdos "punish your friends for doing stuff" theme but the commander is simply "I dunno if someone is hurt during their turn draw a card or whatever"
I agree wholeheartedly! This version of Winter actively works against himself and it’s really frustrating to see a commander design that wants you to 3 for 1 or 2 for 1 yourself to get something that may just immediately go away forever. Even Dina Soul Steeper can be a better commander for a graveyard deck. Just aristocrats and reanimation spells / creatures to bring them back to sac again until everyone is dead 😂😂
I’m not a fan of the fact that the deck works against itself. You work to get multiple card types in your graveyard then you exile them. Not to mention the finality counter has an exile clause as well. Doesn’t make sense to me.
There is a ton of mill though, shouldn't be hard to keep delirium. And there are a bunch of creatures that benefit just from having delirium. But yeah you're probably right, kind of not what you want you're commander to be doing.
This is what makes the deck interesting though. Having to use different options is more fun than trying to loop one best thing. Same reasoning as cutting tutors.
Kinda funny how the Decks turned out. The Winter Deck is always doing its thing in the gameplay videos and is pretty consistent, so is the manifest deck. Rakdos often not that strong tho
I don't understand Winter from a design standpoint. Why make a commander that cares about Delirium exile cards out of your graveyard to potentially lose Delirium? As if that wasn't enough of a drawback, you have the super annoying finality counters on top of that. I think I'm still going to get the deck and use it as a shell for Zask or The Swarmweaver. That sounds way more fun.
yeah they all kind of suck but at least they have good reprints and interesting backup commanders. i really wish they would stop trying to make two different decks in one, because the end result is just a pretty ineffective deck. idk why it’s so hard for them to make strong, FOCUSED decks while also not skimping out on manabases and reprints. maybe next set will be better
I don't know about that. The simic deck is probably top5 precons of all time out of the box. Also the entire deck set is in my opinion on of the strongest precon sets maybe losing to caverns of ixalan.
Imagine if the Graveyard Overdrive precon had all these mill cards...
i feel like putting these two decks together would make a really good deck lol
@@eebbaa5560 i will buy this deck just for do it.

This precon is great if you swap the commander with the Swarmweaver
Edit: nvm you totally mentioned it!
Hey Tauna, congrats on almost 6k you're really blowing up! Out of the decks which are you thinking will be the best?

Honestly my thought process. I have been wanting a golgari deck again and seems like there is great stuff in it.

valgavoth is ridiculously lame lol. “designed for commander” syndrome. generic payoff for a generic strategy with virtually no way to take it further.
Nice vid! I'm not too used to play this kind of mechanic so it'd be useless to give an opinion, but I like your approach on this. Have a nice day!

yeah i really hate this trend of graveyard commanders being forced to exile cards when there’s already so much easily accessible graveyard hate.
@eebbaa5560 that's true. I think I'm going to grab the Jump Scare precon, looks pretty fun.
This is what makes the deck interesting though. Having to use different options is more fun than trying to loop one best thing. Same reasoning as cutting tutors.
@@topiask5315 nah that doesn’t make the deck interesting. It just limits it. What makes it interesting is that you can reanimate ANY permanent.

This is my favorite one.
I’m not a fan of any. I may buy the Rakdos one tho, for Lord of Pain. He seems fun to build.

I only buy graveyard precons, so this deck is perfect for me!
Unfortunately, I don't think any of the 4 precons are good, even disa still appeals to me more
