Punk is short for punk rock 🤷♂. If you want to be picky about what "rock" is, most of these don't count. There's pop punk, nu metal, hard rock, new wave, etc. At least Basket Case is not as bad as Twenty One Pilot's Ride which is hip hop or alternative rap. You also have Roam and I'm Just Ken which are pretty firmly pop sub genres.
They took a very liberal definition of rock, including a lot of pop rock and alternative rock which starts to blur the lines of what rock and what's more pop, hip hop or rap. I agree that I wouldn't think of most of these songs if people asked me for iconic rock songs.

It sounds that the editor made up her own playlist as iconic rock. There is so much that is more iconic Guns N Roses, ACDC, Foofighters, Sum41, Blink182, Avril La Vigne, Nickelback, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queen of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin, White Stripes, U2, Good Charlotte at the top of my head.
