Looks like you had seen the Mini and reacted, the o/s went onto the grass, causing the traction system to engage, when you got back onto the track there must have been a bit of excessive torque through the o/s wheels which you could see by your steering input to counter against that torque vector. Personally I'd blame the Mini driver 😂

At least he went on track and drove that car the best he can. Many people buy cool cars and are only good at accelerating on straights. Now he will process his mistakes, learn some more theory, and become a better driver.

Firstly glad youre alright Lee, any crash you can walk away from is a result.
Without sounding too cynical and this comes from a respectful place but why focus on doing all these mods, chasing more bhp etc.. when youre clearly struggling to drive the car within its abilities in standard form? Just seems abit daft 🫤 seats/harness and a neck brace would have been more sensible.
These cars are so capable in standard form, get used to that power, learn how to shift properly and learn the cars characteristics to the point where you know every inch of it and can anticipate its behavior when pushed .
Anyone can map a car turn the traction off and go fast..but when you run out of skill then then big bhp means nowt.
Glad you walked away from it in one piece but dial it back mate and get the basics down 💪❤

A bit of nerd info for you.... A 1 dB change in a sound equates to about a 26% difference in sound energy (remember that a 3 dB difference is a doubling of energy levels). In terms of subjective loudness, a 1 dB change yields just over a 7% change. A 3 dB change yields a 100% increase in sound energy and just over a 23% increase in loudness.
It's the reason I took the AR1's off of my car.

I’d recommend a few lessons - you’ll enjoy it more and be safer to all around you, especially you! Overdriving past your limit, all over the shop, you'd think you'd have calmed down after the first trip on the grass.... take it you've not seen people come off there, spit back over and down the hill onto the otherside?
As for the crash, the line is not fine, your already pushing wide, way too quick and on the grass again, you also can't be looking that far through the corners and onto the next apex as you were coming up on that Mini super fast. It begs the question that even if you didn't hit the grass, could you have avoided rear ending that Mini? What a fucken liability pal.
These cars are so capable you can really push well past their limit, fair play for the bravery out there and sticking the "i fuct up" video up but looks that bravery will cost you, glad you were not hurt though. Don't quit trackdays, just focus less on the entry speed and more on the exit speed and build up to entering faster, you'll spend less on repairs that way.

Don't want to be harsh, but its a case of having the right gear but with no idea. You are all over the road, borderline out of control most the time, and eventually you found that out the hard way. This in no way was the cars fault, its entirely on the driver. You *need* proper tuition, a better driving position and much more time behind the wheel before pursuing to go faster, otherwise this will inevitably happen again. Glad this wasnt worse for you, onwards and upwards!

Track insurance is 100% worth it even if you back your own talents. I recently had to claim on mine after two other cars nearly collided, went spinning and one took me out! Very annoying but you only cover yourself on track regardless of fault. I paid £130 insurance for the day with Moris and they paid out in 2 weeks from submitting the claim. £8k paid out and free to use any garage, new or old parts and they paid out with no quibble less my excess. Definitely worth it should the worst unfortunately happen. Luckily my car can be saved and it's all covered.

  • @AI-Records24
    @AI-Records24 4 місяці тому +1

I don’t think you fully know where your wheels are pointed at any given point and you definitely need work on placement, oversteer, general control really it’s like you turn in (harshly) and then relinquish control to the car but you’ve turned the assists off that’s baffling. You need to build it back with harnesses, then get some tuition, a lot of it. Drift and track. The more competent you get with the car whilst it’s sideways the more competent you’ll be when it’s straight, and be able to keep it straight. I don’t mean any offence by this obviously not everyone is born with natural ability unfortunately but that doesn’t mean they can’t learn to be able to put in some decent times round a track. It’ll also save you a lot of money in the future as if you don’t get tuition I guarantee you’ll bin it again when it’s fixed. There’s no shame in bettering your driving! At the end of the day I’m glad it wasn’t but that could have been a lot worse and you didn’t know what to do when you crashed either (cross arms sit back) so there’s a lot for you to learn if you want to continue to have fun on track!!

Sorry to learn of your accident but at least you’re ok. I ran AR1 all last year. Went through 22 of them. A good tyre but very noisy and only reasonable on track in the wet. Just had two sets of the new Bridgestone Potenza Race. They are another level and much quieter. Price wise about the same too. Sadly my i30n and driving style at the ring eats up the outer edges so I went back to AR1 last weekend. They are much harder and accommodating for wear but less grip and much noisier. . If you’re predominantly using it on the road the Bridgestone are great and you’ll love it on track. They are probably not far off an AO52 and good value.

Segment around 8mins showed quite aggressive steering inputs (and using curb!), that initial off and style should have been a warning to slow down a bit.
It’s hard to judge giving nothing else of the track day was put up here? Maybe crashed within the first 5mins?
Putting up only the crash and the off is going to lead to a lot of assumptions and criticism.
    Glad he came up unscathed.

Great video, if you are outside the track several times you need to slow down and chill, not go harder. Basics first, then add speed.

Good advice from me: get a pc and a mid priced sim rig and a decent game like assetto corsa. Not gran turismo or something like that. Especially drifting different types of cars (fwd, rwd, awd) in the simulation will give you so much understanding about how the physics of the car work and teach you reacting to these kind of situations. Thats the way i learned racing before getting myself a yaris. In your situation as soon as you had touched the grass and as you had noticed the car starts spinning the right thing would have been to put the accelerator to the floor and steer in the direction where you want to go. As with awd cars the front wheels pull you into the direction where the tyres are headed under acceleration

Reminds me of a local Pro-AM driver I know. His Audi R8 LMS is always being repaired for something because the driver lacks RESTRAINT. Has lots of money though so I guess they can afford to 😅

For someone who is knocking on a bit you certainly like the toys. Don’t let this put you off but if I could offer any advice it would be this. When the car is fixed you definitely need better seats and 100% a harness to keep you in place should you have another excursion. Cadwell is no Joke Lee. then maybe swallow your pride and invest in track day tuition which I’m told is worth it. Everyone I know who’s done it has learned a lot and recommended it. Lastly I reckon every track day at Cadwell sees a crash at the goose neck. Yours was a calamity though. The change in direction then there’s a wicked lip and dip combined with lift off over steer and jumping on the brakes was tragic. Get tuition and you will see they teach you to look much further ahead for instance. You clearly didn’t see how fast you were catching the Mini. I suspect you were looking at the Speedo maybe too? Anyway good luck with the Bradford boys innit

before an accident, it is necessary to throw the steering wheel and pedals... stretch the regular seat belts before leaving the track!
do not lose heart, and think about racing belts and seats!

It looked like you step on the gas too early, pushed the car going wide and onto the grass. Hence rear-end came out on you leading the crash.

You should watch a couple of recent videos from REPerormance as he talks about tracks days and spends a bit of time talking about tires, he highly recommends sticking with road tires and not slicks as you need completely different suspension geometry to make the slicks actually work otherwise you go backwards from road tires. I get the feeling you would have caught that with road tires and not had the accident as there’s no doubt those slicks weren’t in their optimal operating temps
