I own a 316i in Malaysia and after a good 8 years and 130k milage in 2023, there is issue of leaking from multiple points like the temperature sensor ,engine oil sump cover as well as the gear oil sumps. The exhaust as well as the turbo VANOS had to be replaced as the drivetrain error sensor pops up and turbo get deactivated making the car engine limp with no power. The water level keeps getting low indicating radiator water leak and the coolant pump had to replaced. All this cost RM 10 K to replace and now the car is like brand new. Remember the N13 engines had lots of plastic components and the gaskets are soft. This causes issue with multiple point engine leaks. That's why the warranty for this car is 5 years. But the 10K spent was well worth it as the petrol consumption and drive feel of this car plus the audio system is fantastic. Hope to last another 8 years till the next major service.
Need to check the condition properly and see if the owner have full BMW service record.If it have, basically is worth going for but If no,my advice is not to go with.Power is decent.Dont expect much powerful and torque from a 1.6 Turbo,it's more than enough for daily usage.

The 316. Because 316 is using N13 which is a 1.6Turbo 4 cylinder which are proven to be reliable and rather durable to use, maintenance wise it's relatively cheap compare to the 318. The 318 even tho it's using a B38,a new engine from BMW but given that it's a 3 cylinder,it's rather expensive to maintain plus it's underpowered compare to 316. So if I wanna choose between those 2 car,my pick will be 316
@@ChenAutomotiveChannel Would like add, the N13 316i engine has a nicer rustling sound compared to the rougher 318i B38. The power difference is definitely felt when you test drive both cars.
320d,because its using a 2.0L diesel turbo engine,which makes decent horsepower but high torque than normal petrol engines. So its effortless to drive on highway or town compare to the 316 using only a 1.6Turbo which has lower horsepower and torque.
You can get from Official BMW Premium selection which they sell all BMW models with excellent condition as well as free warranty for recent year models,also many inspection is going on for their car before they sell it.So it's basically a good choice to go for but the price is rather expensive compared to outside used car dealer

Bought one in 2019. Love it. Change rim to 18’ and change the grill to black color. Now looking super awesome!

shit on the hp but the 316i is the economy recession choice of bmw due to its affordable roadtax.
