You're right, if the food is lackluster, along with the long wait time, then rate it 1 star. But if the food is good, even though you waited too long for it, it doesn't deserve one star, at least give it 3. These bad reviews over something simple like wait time are why these restaurants go out of business.

I wouldn't even do one star for lackluster food and wait. Maybe I'm soft but a restaurant needs to clearly not care about service, cleanliness, or quality to get the lowest possible rating. It's not an easy job. If people are putting in honest effort they deserve some credit. But yeah, I agree and I'm touched DD took a stance on this. He's a good man
I think it’s unreasonable to say that this is why they are going out of business.

Attitude is a big deal. Being apologetic for the slow service appeases most customers. Being annoyed at customers just for showing up to spend money isn’t helping at all.
The first reviewer dropped their DoorDash sub because the restaurant screwed up the order? Are they unaware that these are separate operations? I feel like that person is clearly an idiot and their opinion is null and void

Eh, if you constantly get bad service and missing items it does tend to reflect on the delivery service. During the pandemic I ordered alot and utilized the Dash Pass more than I care to admit.
I wound up dropping it because of frequent bad service from the restaurants as well as frustration with the delivery people not following instructions.
Even better, Learn how to cook yourself, then There is No Middle Person, And You Can Use the Ingredients You Like. Like Buffalo Chilli with Chipotle and Carmalized Vidalia Onions. Slow Roasted Pot Roast with Vidalia Onions and Vidalia Carrots, Parsley (Cilantro), Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme, and Garlic.
And Red, Red Wine.😀
@ff eater unfortunately in this day and age when dashers pick up the order it is sealed and for obvious reasons we are not allowed to open it. The most we can do/say is, “is everything in here?” And maybe grab a few straws and utensil packs as we walk out the door

You should have someone go in first. See how they treat them. Have them order what you want. Then you come in, and taste the food. That way, you get to see how they treat the everyday person. Kinda an undercover type thing.

Yeah kinda like that. He can have the person with some type of hidden camera, and walkie talkie. That way he keeps in communication with them. They do the customer service, and cleanliness, and he does the food. Not on all establishments. Just the ones where he knows he's been spotted. Like if he sees he's been spotted. He pretends he's leaving. Only that's when he send in the undercover.

That’s why I weed out petty reviews when going to restaurants and hotels. People are leaving horrible reviews and not taking COVID or employee shortage into account.
Right! The new staff are very green and we have to be sensitive to that. They need encouragement. If we want the luxury of eating out again, we have to give them time to build their staff again. I am seeing a lot of “babies” starting their first jobs. We are rebuilding normalcy. Give restaurants a break and time to recover.

Even before COVID-19, the petty reviews are usually written by Karens focusing on the service and not the food. Is the food good? If so, I'm still going.
Fr, you really need to read them and assess what they are really complaining about. On Yelp, often the customer themselves were just shitty so they got shit service.

THANK YOUUUUU for the s/o to the food service industry. The other night I had a group of 5 ask me what was taking so long after standing there for 10 mins. I said “it’s a bit busy” one of them said “this is busy???” so I smiled and said “yeah I’m actually a medical assistant that hasn’t worked here in 6 months but they needed help bc only 3 servers wanted to work and 4 called out, so it’s a tad bit busy but I’ll take your drink orders now if you’d like ” it’s just super frustrating. Some people are literally just doing the best they can
yeah they really should have had a full understanding of the previous stress you were going thru with your other job. I mean come on how are we not all clairvoyants in this day and age?
I'm also a medical assistant and we get people disrespecting us also. Pretty much any job where people are involved lol

Daym a lot of the people I know who worked for restaurants aren't just sitting at home collecting unemployment. After they got fired last year they moved on to other jobs and they have no intentions on going back. Wait staff have been told for years if they don't like their pay go and get a better job and people are mad that those workers finally listened. Restaurants are being forced to pay people a liveable wage so that they don't have to rely on tips just to get by.

@@heartofdarkness666 You know the money comes from taxes, right? It's not as if servers and restaurant workers haven't been contributing to the tax base. As citizens, the stimulus isn't a gift-it's LITERALLY the government doing the bare bones minimum of what is required.
Yeah restaurants usually have bad margins. Sure they can raise minimum wages, but it would drive up the cost of the foods and restaurants as well. There isn't a simple be all end all solution. The restaurant owners are rarely wealthy people or even barely making ends meet. I'm not even trying to be disrespectful of the servers or the staff of these restaurants it's just not so easy to just raise the amount of money they make. Its really not so simple. Maybe if the restaurant booms in business and does extremely well they can afford to raise wages, but everyone in the establishment has to work together to make it a better more workable place
That's why I like daymuns he knows sometimes they will try too make the food better because it's him. But he says they need too take care of all they customers not just him. That's why he's the best. 💯

I went to 3 different TGIFs in the last 2 months. Hands down I haven’t gotten food like his lol. They gave him food and service like no TGIF has ever provided to any of us. That server spoke to that cook and gave the cook a come to JESUS moment.
right lol. staff recognized him it kinda throws off the review for a bit. I would bet a hundred bucks the burger they cooked for him here is different then what an average joe gets during dinner hours.

Bingo. WAHHH the table was too cold and WAAAAH we had to wait for a new one.... and it's not the restaurants fault YOU were clumsy and dropped your phone. That Karen was probably texting all her Karen friends about how upset she was lol...
I 100% agree with you. Too many people have this "Me, me, me" thought process going on. Too impatient. A restaurant should be rated on the quality of the food, not the time the food took unless it gets into a ridiculous wait, where you are there for an hour and no food. A restaurant should be rated on the cleanliness of the establishment and how well they are taking care of it. And finally on the quality of the service. Did they get your order right, were they polite and treat you like a guest should be treated.
Sadly the kids are the same way too in a restaurant.
I understand where you're coming from, but at the end of the day it's the customers money, if they feel unjust about how their service went that's OK. Every service WILL be different.

Unfortunately many people who go out recently aren’t very understanding of these tumultuous times. Don’t forget many places are being overwhelmed with take-out orders which does increase the wait for patrons dining inside
People will never understand or care, food industry became too much and I got out of it in April. It’s sad cause I originally wanted to go to culinary school but after covid it just wasn’t the same anymore. It just felt more like a war zone rather than a kitchen
Daym touched on something that has been lost in this country "Work Ethic"
Not only that but as a food worker most people look for fast easy food and when they come in for dinner and see a line, they're easily frustrated because we're packed, not only with that but online orders as well. We are understaffed and doing our best but still get complaints about how we're slow and we don't always have the full selection. It does suck when we're out but shipment comes in mid week and they aren't the only one who loves extra chicken.. on top of that worker enthusiasm has gone down, its extremely hard to find anyone who actually wants to do it.
@@Heizeyeah facts, I too worked in a Restaurant and ever since Covid-19 the struggle have been real. Being a Manager it was crazy, so hard to keep workers and having to work 60+ hours due to being short staffed.
Of course they are struggling with workers when they pay cooks 11 an hour.... how can people afford to literally live on that? rent is at an all time high right now... restaurants are just too cheap to pay more. simple

Daym ordered the burger medium and it looked well done "overcooked" to his order, so while I agree with what his message is in the video I do think there was some biased pre determined to get that message across in this video.

I agree with you on not trashing restaurants on Yelp just because of wait times and minor things like that, but the restaurant industry is lacking workers right now bc people are tired of not being paid a living wage. That's something the restaurant industry needs to fix.

Struggling to find workers because the pay is terrible. You know what's in the restaurants control? Paying a fair wage to there workers. People want to work but for a fair wage. "No business which depends for its existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country." FDR
HERE'S A IDEA. Call in an order to one of the BEST locations to check if the food was made special for you and if they are consistently consistent
After watching these honestly I think his reviews might be skewed because the servers clearly see his camera. I mean workers in restaurants all talk to each other. I think people try to impress and note when he comes in with a camera

My personal opinion is that you’ll get good service especially when you have a camera on the table and filming. I believe if you went without the setup on the table and was more hidden the experience maybe different. Props to bringing back the series and the Netflix show is 🔥

People aren't going back to these restaurants is because they don't pay well. People are going to higher paying jobs. Crazy how In N Out can pay their workers a livable wage and still keep the food price low
I'm not blaming anyone for choosing to sit at home than return their souls to industries that haven't changed or been challened to change ethically but still managed to increase their profit margins over the last year and a half.
@Andrea Bennett you can disagree all you want but the stimulus afforded people a LIVABLE wage, it's not hitting the lottery. People would be happy to work if they didn't need 3 jobs to earn a LIVABLE income.

Since Cali was already mentioned, the living wage there for a single adult is ~$19/hr, above what you'd get from unemployment. You make less than unemployment there at $15/hr, let alone $12 (the state's minimum wage, where more of these jobs are likely to land)
I really have to agree, you can easily tell when a restaurant is being slammed and staff are worked off their feet. Just be calm and don't add to their stress.

Here's the thing: if folks are making more money from unemployment than at a job, the job should be paying better Esp when a lot of waiters and waitresses are making 2.13 an hour plus tips at a mom and pop's (or say at McDonald's, Burger King, etc sorry excuse of a minimum wage. And if neither can afford to pay their people properly - leave the industry) A lot of service industry people are verbally abused by customers, stiffed on tips and/or hours, and nobody wants that or should put up with that. Restaurants need to step up, figure out their budgets, treat their workers like actual human beings, and pay their employees properly. I like your content but that comment/call out rubbed me the wrong way.
Maybe you will be ok with paying for a higher priced burger. Or maybe you want these businesses to close.

Don't even start. EMS faces worse issues with worse treatment. I work with EMT's making less than Chik-fil-a employees. I've worked alongside 911 medics making slightly above minimum wage. Man, that minimum wage plus tip to serve customers must really suck.

If these restaurants would actually pay livable wages, people wouldn't be on stimuluses and unemployment. Customers treat workers like garbage, that and the shitty pay simply isn't worth ruining your wellbeing for.
That said, if you can't wait for your food, and treat your servers with respect, acknowledge that they're at least TRYING - stay home and cook TV dinners.

I don't think people aren't returning to work just because of unemployment. Unemployment is less than 6% and several states have discontinued the extra money. Maybe they got paid more elsewhere

I have no problem waiting an extra bit of time for my food or refills because the restaurant only has one wait staff that showed up, or only one cook, or only one bartender. Anyone who complains needs to take a step back and really think about what they are doing.

The Gordan Ramsey method, when he did his 'best restaurant' series. Always undercover diners, with stealthy recording equipment. But I don't think Daym can replicate that bus load challenge where they over max the restaurant capacity to see how it reacts lol

The reason a lot of people don’t want to go back to work is because they’re getting paid more even if slightly more than what they were making working at these toxic work environments. Like who wants to go back to a workplace where you are overworked and under appreciated when you can make more at home.

I'm so very glad that you addressed the issue of people expecting their food to be immediate. Sadly today, people are expecting 5 ⭐ food without any wait time. They are expecting the wall time of a zero ⭐ McDonald's, , and the quality food of a 5 ⭐ restaurant. Stop expecting the impossible!

Thank you so much for your comments about waiting time complaints. We have the same problem here in Scotland. The complaints our restaurant gets is always about wait time. If people aren't eating within minutes of entering the establishment, they're complaining. We're out here doing our best ✌️love your reviews

Daym, you took the exact words outta my mouth with the understaffed comment and what happened if these businesses closed, we experience that when the country shutdown because they could not go to the restaurants like they want to. See people do not care if the restaurant is understaffed or not they just want to come in and give bad reviews like this virus has not taken so much away from these restaurants. If people want to be ungrateful for the service then they can just stay at home and cook whenever, these restaurants are going through enough

Love the video Daym always on point. I spoke to my brother the other night he mentioned the same thing that good cooks are hard to find right now. But I get it, its not just about collecting the pay at home but their putting themselves in harms way to provide people with a services and its a lot of work and not as large of a reward.
I know personally when I review a place I have to really do a full perspective on a place, price, food quality, location, the genera of food vs what people order. I think people are real quick to give a 1 if the place is ok and a 4 and a half if the place is really good. But sometimes its more then simply the speed at witch you get the food, and sometimes even more then just the food quality.

I get it's hard to do a food review in a crowded place, but to truly test a restaurant is to go there during their rushes. It's easy to keep up on cleanliness; friendly service, consistent/quality food, etc. when it's slow, but how they handle their rushes is a true testament as to how they perform and rise to the occasion.

The meal looked like it was slappin, especially the burger, & I feel you on what you were saying about the rating, but Fam you have to understand sometimes your name affords you special treatment, not always but sometimes. It's had to make a clear evaluation or judgment on the food & service when that happens. Establishments should practice consistency, I don't mind longer wait time for my food but the quality has to be there, I work hard for my $$. Be safe
I feel like this is why all reviews should be REQUIRED to have a picture. The problem with reviews are that 90% are either 5 stars or 1 star. There’s rarely an in-between and this causes the ratings to be inaccurate and go crazy. A 1 star reviewer may be angry that they had to wait while another 1 star reviewer genuinely had bad food that was dangerous. Same with 5 star, the reviews are inaccurate

I'll never understand why people get angry when food takes a little longer to get to you. I mean sure, if it comes to you and it's burnt to a crisp, that's one thing, but when you get amazing food after waiting for 25 minutes, that was worth the wait! Straight up! You got what you paid for, in a time where these workers are dealing with high stress in skeleton crews. Have some of that thing all humanity should have, compassion.

I have been a chef for the past 20 years and have had to occasionally be a waiter. You should expect at least ten minutes to wait if there is a spot for you to wait prior to going in and eating if the establishment is worth anything.

@@FontaineBleu no, but as long as you don't walk in when it is opening, it should be busy enough that 5-10 minutes should not be unexpected because it should be that busy (not counting reservations)
Man thanks for getting real at the end there. You are correct that people gotta stop giving bad reviews based solely on wait times. They always tell you how long the wait will be so if you dont want to wait that long tell them forget it and find somewhere else.
I got a chicken sandwich at the TGI Friday’s at the Atlanta Airport and that shit was dry and bland asf!!! Worst chicken sandwich I’ve ever had in my life🤢🤢 The picture looked good but the sandwich itself was the complete opposite🤦♂️🤦♂️

I used to work for TGI Friday's... They treated me like crap, so I left during the busiest time of the day and gave them a review fit for a turd stuck on a wall. The atmosphere was constantly noisy, ants were around on the table, waitresses were made of 100% Attitude, 100% Suck and bougie!
Managers were lazy goofballs that were ALWAYS ready to go home, even after stepping in the building! This was post pandemic. Yup, I left in the middle of rush hour on a Friday. 😊

what’s with the preaching? You didn’t used to do that and you’re hideous. People are going to leave their rating no matter what. They’re going to say and complain about what’s bothering them. And if it’s a wait time then it’s their right to be able to express that displeasure with the long wait time. I don’t think people are necessarily mad about waiting to be seated. Like the third review that you read there was a lot more to it than just waiting to be seated. if you look at the three reviews that you read the overall if she was customer service. I restaurant they have the best food in the world. But if they have horrible customer service then the customers will stay away. The customer doesn’t care what problem the restaurant is having. It’s not their job to care. They come in and pay for a service. And they expect that service to meet certain standards. It is the restaurants responsibility to be able to meet those standards. Whether those standards are the food, cleanliness or customer service.
Let’s not act like he doesn’t have a point though..a lot of restaurants are struggling to find people to come into work. It’s not the workers fault

I agree that wait time isn't everything in a review but if the restaurant industry didn't pay waiters $2.50 an hour plus tips maybe they would have waiters. So yeah you make more sitting on the couch because the industry pays pennies.
Great review! Anybody who has been working their asses off instead of sitting on them has my appreciation, no matter how much longer the wait is. I have been tipping them accordingly.

The three reviews were primarily about service. Even the one comment about the fiancee’s burger was mediocre at best (mr vs medium/not crazy about the cheese) so I think this really doesn’t qualify as a worst “burger” place. TGIFriday’s variety of food I s too diverse to qualify as a “Burger Restaurant” This would be the same as considering Applebee’s is an Asian restaurant because they offer an Asian Chicken Salad.

When I worked at TGiF, we used some some frozen stuff that comes out of the bag and into the fryer, but we also used alof of high quality ingredients. Our steaks and salmon were the non-perfect shaped pieces that super high end restaurants rejected. The ground beef wasn't frozen (I believe it is now).
The difference between a 1 star TGiF experience and a 5 star is the staff. You have to know how to cook a little bit and always use your meat thermometer.

Thank you for standing up for the people who work in the food industry. I used to work in the food industry and I won't lie, the people who left bad reviews also had a mean streak. I had put up with it and the entitlement some customers had were difficult to deal with. I got another job and continued in the food industry and the people in my state's behavior gotten worse. Unfortunately my location for the company closed and I won't lie, I was bit relieved. I wish the people who believe they have the right to look down on people who serve food get a reality check.
